What a great evening.

5/5 by 👻 @Karlee B. on 09/15/2025

Staff went above and beyond after a cancelled reservation at Saison and a birthday in our group. Staff was attentive and provided great service. Timing of the courses was perfect and everything tasted great. Not a single bad bite the entire evening. Would highly recommend and would love to come back!!

I hate a bad review but this food was terrible.

1/5 by 👻 @Elizabeth A. on 09/13/2025

We did the chef's highlights meal. The atmosphere, service was good but the flavor of the food was so bad. I'm from the NYC area, so I'm no stranger to Michelin starred restaurants and also visited others in SF. This place was so bad and bland from a food experience perspective, we were laughing at each course. We spent $700+ with tip. Worst price for experience I've ever experienced. Go somewhere else.

If I could sum up my Angler experience in one word, it'd

3/5 by 👻 @John N. on 09/02/2025

If I could sum up my Angler experience in one word, it'd be: disappointed. TL;DR -- the food is good, but simply not worthy of the hefty $$$ markup for dishes that don't feel elevated to the level I'd expect from a Michelin-star restaurant. I tried the whole roast chicken, seasonal corn side dish, ice cream sundae, and a few items from their drink menu... From the outset, things seemed off for me as a solo diner. As part of the waitress's spiel to neighboring tables (all couples), she emphasized "our dishes are meant to be shared." That's great, but why not offer at least 1-2 menu items that are single-portioned, or perhaps offer a smaller version of the other items upon request? For instance, when I asked if I could do a single portion of their signature "Parkerhouse Rolls," I was met with a simple "no." I didn't feel like an entire skillet of bread all to myself, so I passed on that one. Strike one. The next hiccup came when I asked to sample one of their wines (they have an extensive selection, literally a 100+ page book, but only a small few by the glass). Again, solo diners seemed like an afterthought. I sampled the first wine, which I did not care for, and asked to sample a second...the waitress kind of gave me a funny look, as if I had asked something completely outside the bounds of acceptability. This did not seem like an odd request to me, given that I was about to drop $25 on said glass, but perhaps they are not used to such requests. Fine. Strike 1.5. The food itself was fine, and herein likes the biggest issue (in my opinion). At a Michelin restaurant, I expect the dishes to "pop." It doesn't need to blow my mind, but there should be something that sets it apart, something I can't get elsewhere. For the chicken, it was barely a tick above something I could, in fact, get elsewhere for 1/8 the price. This dish cost $80 (again meant to be shared), but even at $40/ea for a couple, I simply can't justify it. The skin was perfectly crispy, the meat well seasoned, though I felt it could have been a tad bit juicier. It is served with a mustard gold sauce on the side in a gravy boat, which again was nothing special. When I asked for hot sauce, I expected something homemade (and perhaps more elevated), but I was presented with what tasted to me like re-bottled Cholula. I can see all this being okay at *maybe* half the cost, but at the end of the day it's chicken, folks. There is a limit... I also tried their side seasonal vegetable "embered corn," which was probably my favorite dish of the night (although also steep at $21). The corn itself had a nice smoky taste (from the embers), and was served inside a puree with a few nice garnishes like ricotta cheese. This was honestly the most "Michelin-like" dish of the night. The sundae was disappointing. Again, the flavor itself was fine, but the ice cream didn't taste especially creamy or elevated beyond your typical soft-serve. The caramel sauce and cocoa nib garnish, however, were delicious, with the former being especially buttery and the perfect amount of sweet. These didn't make up for the $17 price tag, though. I also felt the portion was small for a "shareable" dish, and they are a little stingy with the caramel. I am not one to typically ding restaurants for the "experience" (after all, we are there to eat!), however if you are marketing yourself as Michelin-level quality, then you need to have the chops to back it up. Moreover, this all just felt egregiously overpriced to me, even by "fine dining" standards. Of course I was aware of the menu prices going in, but generally if the value is there, I'm ok with it...and I wasn't getting a whole lot of value from Angler. This is, by the way, to say nothing of the hefty 26% mandatory service fee (20% "service charge" + 6% "SF mandate" ... reminder that there is no such mandate), and overall it's simply too much to swallow. So, sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an elevated dining experience in SF. Look elsewhere if you want more bang for your buck and a culinary journey that matches the hype.

If I had to point to one thing I'm most sour about, it was

2/5 by 👻 @Louis Y. on 08/30/2025

If I had to point to one thing I'm most sour about, it was the frog legs. Our server really pushed them at the end of ordering "one of the best things on the menu,". It was my partner's birthday, we were at a celebrated restaurant, so of course I didn't want to miss out on their supposed best dish. But they turned out just okay. Neither of us understood why they were so highly recommended. Honestly, I think the same preparation with chicken wings might have delivered more flavor. The frog legs felt more like a pricey gimmick than a highlight. The sea bream was grilled very well, technically executed, but not remarkable. I'm from Japan, and grilled fish of that style is something commonly offered as a breakfast protein. I love it, but it's hard for me to see it as a signature dish in a restaurant of this caliber. The roast chicken was similar. Good, but not great. It wasn't the kind of standout version of a classic that I'd expect from a restaurant with Angler's reputation. What we did love were the Parker House rolls and the soft serve. Those felt special. I just wish the entrées rose to that level, or higher. Overall, it was a pleasant meal, and the service (aside from the frog leg upsell) was friendly. I don't eat out at $$$$ places often, and I don't think of myself as a "foodie snob," but that's how I felt lol. I left underwhelmed. My gripe is not any one thing in particular, but the overall value proposition. At a restaurant of this standing and ambition, I expect creativity and execution that genuinely surprise me, dishes I couldn't hope to replicate at home. That was decidedly not our experience today.

Food is all right.

1/5 by 👻 @Chuxi W. on 08/28/2025

However, we ordered two cook for us since we have two people. However, for some of the dishes, they only gave us one portion expecting us to share. At the end, they only gave us one soft serve ice cream, expecting us to share. You cannot give different service for the same price to diferent customers. While other tables who may not be couples are getting two ice cream creams at the end among with other dishes. I don't know if they treated us like this if we are racial minorities and young so they think we are easy to mess with.. Like WTF! Unacceptable. The service was just all right and they would charge you 26% tips automatically. I can't even reflect the bad service, especially the inferior service I got compared to other customers, with tipping less. Overall, I don't recommend it to anyone. I still don't know how a Michelin star restaurant would let customers to share one soft serve together

We were excited to try the $45 fixed course lunch but were disappointed that there were no alternatives for the starter. One of diners has a seafood allergy. We asked about getting bread or fries as an alternative to oysters -- no luck. Since both a seafood and non-seafood option was offered for the entree, it would have been nice to have a non-seafood option for the starter.

5/5 by 👻 @Florence K. on 08/21/2025

Amazing restaurant fueled by their open fire cooking theme, Angler is a sister restaurant to Saison (another Michelin star restaurant). Initially, we came for their happy hour but turns out, happy hour isn't on Monday. That's alright we still enjoyed the regular menu. We had the oysters to start, which were delicious. Then the fried frog legs! My first time and they are slightly tougher than chicken but still delicious. We then go the Parker house roll and fish to share. We ended with the soft serve and cheese cake and highly recommend the soft serve! Everything was paired with wine, which the sommelier showed us a lovely collection of what they have! Service was very attentive as well. Would definitely come back again but it's not a place you can come often!

Impeccable service.

1/5 by 👻 @R P. on 08/13/2025

What ruined the whole evening and experience at a very high priced Michelin star restaurant is - hair in my main dish. That should not happen at a Michelin star restaurant. Did not felt there was a sincere apology for terrible experience. Just got "sorry about that". They did prepare a new dish for us. Not going back and cannot recommend to anyone else. Suggestion - have people preparing food wear a hairnet.

Two of the side dishes, the corn and the radicchio salad were outstanding the rest of the food was ok, not exceptional in any way. And the service, for which you are automaticially charged 2o5, a fairly hefty tip, when you consider the prices, was truly awful. I expect professional service when i'm in a place so well rated. Instead, i actually had to ask the maitre d'hotel to find my waitress after we waited over 20 minutes for her to return to take our order. I definitely will not be returning in a hurry.

Let Us Cook For You option: *** The first dish brought to

5/5 by 👻 @Maria J. on 08/09/2025

Let Us Cook For You option: *** The first dish brought to the table was the coonstripe prawn with shiso and Fresno peppers. Oh my goodness... the flavor paired with the contrasting textures was incredible. I'm not even a prawns person, but I'd eat this again. And again. 10/10 *** Then came the shima aji with watermelon radish. THIS. DISH. I kept thinking about it for the rest of the meal. I wish I had written this review mid-bite, because there's no way I can fully capture how insanely good it was. 10/10 * By this point, I couldn't believe there was still more coming--and I was so ready for it. We were served the radicchio salad, along with our clothing protector. I'd seen reviews calling it messy, but I didn't get anything on my bib, so don't be intimidated. I totally get the love for the radicchio--it's a beautiful and delectable dish--but it just didn't quite hit for my palate. * Next: the cold-smoked salt & pepper squab. Think "tastes like chicken," but juicier, richer, and just better. The meat was incredibly tender, especially when paired with the lime and peppercorn spice they served on the side. * The grilled scallop. I tried to savor it with three small bites, but honestly, I could've inhaled it in one. Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. *** Then came the unexpected star of the show. I'm not a big corn person, but this dish? It made me question every corn-related decision I've ever made. Life-changing. Like, genuinely reconsidering-my-relationship-with-corn life-changing. It slaps. 1000/10 * Whole sea bream with coconut & Swarnadwipa. I grew up eating fish regularly (shoutout to my fisherman dad), so I approached this one with high standards. The skin was perfectly crisp, the flesh flavorful and tender. I actually forgot to add the coconut sauce, and even without it, it was excellent. Now I'm just imagining how next-level it could've been with the sauce. * I wasn't too excited about trying the potato--I mean, it's a potato-- but wow. The thin slices of Angler potato were the ideal vehicle for that taleggio sauce. The perfect carb moment to round things out. * Last but definitely not least: the soft serve with caramel. I've never been a huge caramel person, but this dessert slaps. It feels like something that could tempt even an ascetic. Would absolutely come back next time I'm in SF.

The Quick Catch

This was our first eating here. We had the Quick Catch for lunch. The bream was a bit too fishy for me—both in smell and taste. I did enjoy the poster and peach sorbet. My soda was not refillable. The staff were high quality—attentive with service. We sat by the window and had a great view outside. Great atmosphere.

Good food, but not served as a Michelin star restaurant

4/5 by 👻 @Borrelli-Tosti on 08/17/2024

We booked it to celebrqte our daughter's birthday and we took 3 "let us cook for you" menus. The unpleasant thing was that often the dishes were in common and we had to split them by 3. I don't think it is acceptable in a restaurant that claims to be high level one. Additionally, the service was not at the level of a Michelin star. Nevertheless, it was our daughter's birthday and we focused on the event.

Excellent wines and Service, lacks complexity and sophistication of other Michelin Stars and watch out for the Chilli!

4/5 by 👻 @Robert H on 08/11/2024

I was seated in the ‘additional dining room’ which, complete with stuffed bears , had a rustic feel to the room and not quite my experience of Michelin Starred dining. The serving team was excellent. My server was lovely (although I wish, having been introduced to ‘your’ server it was consistent - I had many servers bring me courses). It’s very informal in nature, the cutlery are in containers on the table like in diners, the (overloud in my opinion) music very upbeat (Queen, Phil Collins, Erasure ..) I chose the ‘Cook for You’ menu which was generally very good, although not as sophisticated or complex as many Michelin starred restaurants I’ve eaten in. I enjoyed the oysters and the Trout, and a salad was a very simple way to break the meal up My main disappointment was in the unexpected use of chilli in dishes. The chilli on the green beans accompanying the (absolutely delicious) black cod was way too much for me, whole pieces of dried chilli were present resulting in my mouth feeling burnt. I did comment to the server who kindly offered me some iced water but it was still a surprise and , for me, detracted from the delicacy of the cod. The beef was very good, the Hen of the Woods mushroom accompaniment decent if not exceptional but again, a chilli sauce. I don’t mind a bit of heat but in two consecutive dishes? The server admitted ‘we like our spice’. The wines in the wine pairing were exceptional. I’d asked the sommelier to be exciting with the wines and was really pleased with at I had: funky interesting wines from France, USA and Australia ending with a Tawny Port to accompany the ice cream. Quite surprised it wasn’t possible to have an espresso to finish. So in all I’m conflicted. Wine and service excellent. Food and ambience lacked finesse, complexity and sophistication. If you’re after relaxed dining without too much sophistication (and don’t mind a bit of spice!) I’d say it’s very good If you wanted something a bit more refined I’d say there are probably better places. However. The wines and service were excellent.

Angler has been one of our favorite restaurants since it opened. We hadn't been since our son was born almost two years ago and we had THE best experience and meal with friends. The menu is perfect for sharing. Each dish was unique, prepared simply to highlight the main ingredients. My favorite bites were actually not seafood but rather the hot fried frog legs and the whole roast chicken! The service is always spot on perfect, welcoming and attentive. Our main server Raphael was really fun and took excellent care of us from start to finish. We definitely won't let another 2 years go by before coming back to Angler!

5/5 by 👻 @Meghana G. on 07/20/2024

The food, service, and ambiance are STELLAR at Angler! We went to Angler for happy hour to grab a quick bite & were welcomed by the host. The huge windows that point towards the bay create a gorgeous and energized atmosphere. We started with a champagne and a martini - they were both delicious. The bartenders are clearly very experienced and hospitable. We then ordered a salad including a variety of lettuces and a Meyer lemon dressing. I was absolutely blown away. Dare I say I was GOBSMACKED by this wonderful dish. Most salads that I come across add variety by adding sweet elements, and I'm not a fan of that. However THIS salad was TANGY, ZESTY, and SPICY!!!!! I have never had a salad this good. We then had the frog legs. It was both of our first time, and it did not disappoint!! It's very similar to a Nashville style chicken wing in taste and texture. The only issue was that it was a little hard to eat, but I think that has more to do with the logistics of eating any frog leg dish than this specific frog leg dish. We ended our pit stop with their iconic salted caramel soft serve. This dish comes with a show! Our server poured the bubbling caramel over the cup of soft serve and it was delicious!!! The varied texture and temperature made this dish so worth it. I highly recommend stopping by at Angler if you're in the Embarcadero area .

I wanted to be blown away and some of their dishes, like

3/5 by 👻 @Layla R. on 07/09/2024

I wanted to be blown away and some of their dishes, like the cubed sashimi style Norwegian trout with shiso leaf and dry aged kingfish cru were delicious and had great flavor profiles, but for $14 and $22 respectively, the portions were tiny. You get one bite - literally - one small cube each with the trout (if you split with someone else). The cru is 4 pieces and a bit better from that standpoint. We split the lobster and it was drenched in a sauce that reminded me of chili crab in Singapore. Messy and not very flavorful. We filled up on the bread and dipped it in the sauce, as recommended by our server, but it wasn't even close to that dip you get when you dunk a baguette in Moules Marinières sauce so a bit underwhelming for us. Wine was tasty and dessert was a nice simple slice of cheesecake, but, unfortunately, we won't go back. My good friend went when they first opened and she wasn't impressed either, but assumed it was because they just opened. The seafood tastes like good quality, but a few things need work: 1. Add another bite or two to your protein appetizers. Doesn't have to be crazy big American style portions, but as the atmosphere doesn't exactly feel like Omakase and it isn't being served in multiple stages like one, it just feels like you're being taken advantage of a bit too much to go back. 2. Adding 20% gratuity meant our main server didn't really seem to care what we wanted. To be fair, the other two who helped out were good, but our main server was almost forceful when trying to get us to order more - even though we said we weren't that hungry (and our check was still about $400 for 2 people). He said we should consider ordering more food to start because they cook with a wood burning fireplace. It's seafood, so it should never take that long. I'm sure he's a nice enough fellow, but he wasn't really reading the room, if you know what I mean. Thus, if you want to have $85 lobster and spend $7-$14 for one bite of a seafood appetizer, then go for it. You can always fill up on their $19 mushroom the size of a softball.

Went there for date night.

2/5 by 👻 @Saar H. on 07/08/2024

The tip is covered by a 20% service charge which is automatic, so consequently the server did not listen to what we asked for and was just trying to "bulk" the size of the bill and rush us out within 5 minutes of arrival. I'd never seen a waiter pay less attention to what you want. So 1 star down. The appetizers were tiny. Bread was $16. The scallop was nice but $26 each is a bit rich. The Lobster had smoked pepper on it, which tasted great for 1-2-3 bites, then it became overbearing and was too much. It was also a pretty skinny lobster {low lbs}. All in all, won't be going back. I finished the overpriced, unfulfilling meal and went to get some Pizza in North Beach. Usually going to a Michelin star place has been a guarantee of having at least a quality meal vs hit and miss restaurants, this restaurant should be avoided. If you want Seafood, want to look shi-shi, need a place near the ferry building go for it, if not, skip it.

Angler is a really interesting place.

5/5 by 👻 @Jason W. on 06/26/2024

The walls are adorned with countless pieces of taxidermy. It feels a little much for my liking, but whatever. Started off with the Embered Oysters; really smoky and flavorful. The Bluefin Tuna and Rice Crisp had an unexpected twist. The tuna came topped with like a tangy terrine/jelly-like substance. I appreciate when a dish brings a different dynamic. The Fried Frog Legs were fine. They tasted like frog dishes served in Chinese restaurants where you would be getting it for half the price. I really like how the lobster was served with the tomalley. Usually I only get to eat it when making lobster at home, and it feels like such a waste when places don't seem to put it to good use. It comes with some bread that was a bit dense and a nice sauce made from lobster shells. The Angler potato was really good and would have went well with some caviar probably. It's kind of like a potato gratin but the potato and cheese parts are separate and intact. The soft serve is good, I'm not sure what I was expecting but it's not too different from soft serves you get a dessert places other than the caramel sauce and what I think are cacao nibs. My friend and I both agreed that it's very phallic looking hahaha... I enjoyed the experience and would come back again.

Tried both chef's menu and a la cart, it was SO good and great value for the food and Michelin 1 star service, can't wait to go back! I'd recommend going with the chef's menu the first time you visit - it covers most of the signature dishes (seafood and vegetables) on the menu and the portions are pretty big. I especially liked the chip and fish jelly (?), the scallop, and the grilled whole fish. The next time I ordered the a la cart and really liked the salmon sashimi. The taste is so colorful and fish so fresh! Some people in my group liked the mushroom a lot, and server mentioned the sauce in that is the most complex sauce from the resto. Not my fav though and the mushroom itself tasted pretty plain. The caviar is good but not too unique, don't think it's worth the price. Chef's menu was a little over $100pp, and a la cart was $97 post tax and tip. The restaurant feels upscale with an open kitchen. Highly recommend!

I recently had an exquisite fine dining experience in Angler SF that left a lasting impression. Parker rolls with seaweed butter set the tone with a perfect blend of textures and flavors. Beet salad showcased vibrant, fresh ingredients, and the scallop crudo was a delicate delight. Koshihikari seaweed rice with trout roe was a unique and memorable dish, beautifully combining Japanese influences. Main course, featuring dried-aged Wagyu steak, was impeccably cooked and incredibly flavorful. For dessert, the soft serve sundae was a delightful conclusion, balancing sweetness and creaminess. The mocktail selection complemented each course impeccably, enhancing the overall dining experience. This place has a unique decor and a very relaxing atmosphere. This is definitely a spot to have a no rush dinner and a spot where you can spend time to talk to your friends and loved ones. We came there for a la cart menu and to our surprise this was not it. It just didn't click. Perhaps, the experience menu would feel different. On the other side wine choices were very good

Loved my experience at one-Michelin starred Angler! Their location is along the Embarcadero, so parking is a bit tough. I loved the view of the open kitchen when arriving. The group I was with tried a bunch of items, but the MUST orders for me are the parker house rolls with seaweed butter, scallop crudo with yuzu sauce, and the grilled hand-dived scallops. The scallops truly stood out--perfectly grilled and so sweet. They know their seafood at Angler! We also tried some wines; they have a great beverage program here. Service is friendly. I need to come back for happy hour!

We love Angler! Every time we're in SF, we always try to

5/5 by 👻 @Wayne H. on 01/17/2024

We love Angler! Every time we're in SF, we always try to squeeze in a meal there. There are many things to love, but the primary 3 are as follows: 1. The amazing selection of fresh seafood that is prepared exceptionally well, typically over their wood burning hearth, which imparts a slight smokiness that just complements a lot of the seafood preparations perfectly; 2. Being part of the Saison Hospitality group, it should come as no surprise that they have an exceptional wine list - likely among the top lists in the city - with a vast selection for every palate, including many older vintages that would otherwise be very difficult to come by; 3. Service is top notch here - again, not a surprise due to the high standards of the Saison group. Yes, I will be the first to admit that it's expensive. Not only is it expensive to eat out in general these days, it's certainly much more so at a nice place like Angler. Is it worth it? For us, absolutely yes. Is it a place we'd dine at nightly? No - it's a nice splurge to celebrate every couple or few months. If you're looking for a place for a special occasion, look no further! Lastly, the menu clearly indicates that a 20% service charge is added to the bill and I can understand the confusion on service charge vs. tip. The state and federal governments actually view the two differently - a service charge is added to the bill by the restaurant and it's a non-tip wage, mandatory, subject to sales tax, and is NOT guaranteed to go entirely to the server while a tip is voluntary, not subject to sales tax, and goes to the server (either directly or via a pool). The server literally cannot tell you that the service charge is a tip because they'd be flat out wrong if they did. Does that mean you need to tip above and beyond the service charge? Well, that's entirely up to you. We don't usually unless the server has gone out of their way to do something special for us, in which case, we may tack on an extra 5-10%.

Spacious dining room with rustic decorations.

4/5 by 👻 @Chloe H. on 01/11/2024

We were seated facing the open concept kitchen, where chefs assembled ingredients and prepared hot dishes. In both of the dining rooms there were a lot of large pieces of hunting decor, including a life-size bear in the other dining room. The vibes of this restaurant felt more corporate; most parties there were business dinners and one of the dining rooms was reserved for a corporate event. We were offered welcome drinks as soon as we sat down, but unfortunately they did not have a non-alcoholic option for this. Given that it was our first time dining at Angler, our waitress walked through the entire menu with us, dish by dish. She was very well trained and gave proper details on each of the dishes. This was very helpful. Our first courses were the Parkerhouse rolls & cultured seaweed butter and bluefin tuna with sanbaizu jelly & shiso. A lot of seaweed flavors in both of the dishes. The bluefin tuna was quite an interesting mix of flavors and it was served with a seaweed chip. The Parkerhouse rolls were served warm and decent, but honestly nothing really stood out to me. It tasted the same as the rolls served everywhere else. I wasn't the biggest fan of the cultured seaweed butter; I don't think this went well with the Parkerhouse rolls, either. Our next courses were the Mt Lassen trout with charred scallion preserve (we decided on this because the charred scallion preserve sounded much more interesting and unique than vermouth butter) and angler potato & sauce from sonoma cheeses. Not sure why the courses came in twos, but they did. The trout was cooked nicely and soft in the middle. The charred scallion preserve was definitely interesting and something we have not seen before, but I didn't feel that the combo was particularly pleasantly surprising. It was fine but didn't strike me as amazing. The angler potato was definitely more interesting in presentation than taste; taste wise it was just a pretty standard potato dish. We ended up adding one more course because the trout was tiny, so our next course was koshihikari seaweed rice & trout roe. Seaweed seemed to have really become the central theme here by this point. The waitress said this was one of her favorites on the menu, and it was, imo, the best dish that we ordered. The rice was mixed well and there was something in it that gave it a crunch. It was light and balanced and didn't feel as heavy as some of the other courses (like the angler potato), and I honestly felt like I could have eaten the entire dish by myself. This was the one dish that I would 100% get again. Of course, we had to finish the meal with the famous soft serve that we came to Angler for! It was a very sizable portion (for $17) and plenty to share between two. It's more dense than other soft serve and less sweet and vanilla-y. The caramel and cocoa nibs added both texture and contrasts in flavor (bitterness and saltiness). Overall this was solid and I totally get the hype. I think overall Angler lives up to a one Michelin star title. The menu has a decent amount of new and creative elements and flavor combos, some of them better than others. The main course was solid but not too surprising. Presentation felt overly simple for some of the dishes, I think especially because they served everything on a white plate (also you can definitely tell that the dining plates went through some ages and were pretty beaten up). Service was acceptable but not remarkable.

Service is oddly neglectful despite so many hovering around

4/5 by 👻 @FoodLover F. on 01/11/2024

Service is oddly neglectful despite so many hovering around (water refills lacking, having to catch their eye to ask for another glass of wine, not taking away dirty plates , not asking how is food, long gaps between courses, and when we arrived we sat there for 20 minutes before Chloe our first waitress showed up, then we never saw her again after she took our order) The food though was spectacular. Heads up, they serve everything FAMILY STYLE. Every item on menu is placed in middle of table and y'all serve yourselves. We had the embered oysters, and two scallops as appetizers. The sea bass with sichun spices, sea bream and the steak. All excellent The sides were the scallop potato and brocolini. Also the Parker rolls. Three glasses of wine, one processco and one manhattan We were there to celebrate son's birthday and they had a card for him. $599

Where do I begin? This is the first restaurant I have been to that actually deserves their Michelin star. I have eaten at a ton of places and this goes down in my top 10 best experiences. Will without a doubt be a first stop for me every time I am in San Francisco. My boyfriend and I did the "Let Us Cook For You" which was super nice because it took the thinking out of it so we could just relax. In addition to the delicious food: - Vibe inside the restaurant is a sophisticated vibe but not overdone - Staff is incredible and not a single person misses a beat. The vibe was definitely a "team effort" as opposed to "let me get your waiter". - Music is incredible. So good, I requested their Spotify playlist (but they want it to remain private so it's not given out) Anyways hats off to the chef and staff here. See you soon!

Interesting flavors, spotty service at a luxe price point

3/5 by 👻 @jasonnunan on 06/15/2023

When you first step into the angler, you may see a hubbub of servers in navy blue suits scooting back-and-forth. Trouble is they mostly spend time speaking with each other, and not much time at your table. You’re handed a menu, which is very cryptic —saying very little about the dishes, and since the gaggle of suited servers is only speaking to each other, you really don’t know what are the sauces accompanying each dish unless you ask. And you need to ask for nearly each and every one. The fillet of Seabass pictured here was absolutely delicious but at $56 its about the size of a deck of cards and includes nothing but the netted lemon on the plate. Care for some bread? Well that’s $15 for a small tray of Parkerhouse rolls. A vegetable to go with that? That’ll set you back another $17 for the grilled brassica which is on the tough side and liberally doused in harissa which covers up the more interesting Garum flavor beneath it. If you’re on an expense account I can see going to this place and we’re chalking it up on the bosses account. But if you are on your own dime, I think you can do far better elsewhere.

An amazing experience. Open wood burning kitchen and fabulous views of the Bay Bridge. We dropped in for lunch (oysters were sweet!). Alexandra looked after us so well we booked for dinner that night. And had more outstanding food: the raw tuna was beautiful and the whole radicchio was absolutely fabulous. Raphael looked after us very well with great humour and knowledge. Cocktails were delicious (Oaxacan ruby was superb) An amazing experience! We’ll definitely be back.

Other review regarding the raw and tiny lobster is accurate ...it was tasteless to boot. We also ordered thee steak served cold and absolutely tasteless i mean these 2 dishes were $260 and were absolutely terrible. I'm sorry guys but you won't stay in business unless you address the quality of food. Potatoes were crispy on the outside but raw on the inside. This is clearly a problem. 2 stars is generous given the meal was $800 for 4 people. I don't have an issue paying for quality at all. Honestly if the food is fabulous I don't even care if the service is sub par. The service was good by the way. Everyone was professional. Red alert on food! I hope someone is reading this and pays attention because the menu and concept is good just major quality problem

Terrible food.

1/5 by 👻 @R S. on 03/14/2023

My lobster was served partially raw and my wife's swordfish was not only a tiny portion but was so overcooked it was dry and tasteless. Our abalone was also undercooked and served in such a small portion that it would have been overpriced if jt were twice the size. One more thing - if you enjoy a nice wine, go somewhere else, the pours are ridiculously stingy. On the upside, the service is pleasant and attentive even though the waiter couldn't explain why the clarified butter accompanying the lobster is colored red. Background music is more appropriate for a burger joint and why are stuffed animal heads hanging off the walls?! Bottom line, spend half as much and get twice as much almost anyplace else, The Angler San Francisco needs to seriously up its game, otherwise it is a loserRichard 3/11/2023

5/5 by 👻 @Michelle M. on 03/08/2023

Dined for the Michelin Star experience and our table was just full of deliciousness. The ambiance alone was great, greeted by friendly staff as soon as we entered through the revolving doors. Someone please tell me what is in the bread rolls? If there is anything you must include in your order, it's them rolls! Consume them while warm and lather that butter on, let this be your excuse to enjoy the carbs. A must order is the radicchio salad and yes, use that cloth bib provided while cutting it to avoid bright magenta splash marks on your attire. Hen of the Woods Mushroom would have to be a filler, tasty but drowned out by flavors of the other plates. Blue fin tuna w/ jelly & sbiso was very refreshing and the enormous single piece of rice cracker to be broken made it much more enjoyable and interactive. The Pacific sea snails: 3 pieces and it has to fall under the delicacy category, the flavor was a standout. I preferred the sword fish steak over the trout, but it might be because of the side sauce it came with that complemented the fish itself. I consider my pear-tini/cocktail as my dessert for the evening and it was quite refreshing.Great place for a group of friends or your special friend, but make sure to make that reservation. Street parking: We did not get as lucky and had to walk a few blocks away, but we definitely got to walk the meal out and see the sights of the Embarcadero, so no complaints.

I recently dined at Angles on Valentine's Day and

2/5 by 👻 @Tina C. on 02/24/2023

I recently dined at Angles on Valentine's Day and unfortunately, it was very disappointing Despite the restaurant being advertised as an extension of the well-known Saison, the only thing they had in common was the prices. The service was badly executed from start to finish. Although we had already answered an email the day before describing each diner's food aversions and allergies in detail, the waiter came and asked about them. They gave us utensils in cup holders so they wouldn't have to set the table for each course. To make matters worse, they even took away our napkins while our elbows were still on them and took away plates while we were not finished. Some dishes were good, such as the caviar from Sacramento delta, the brioche, the tuna with tomato jelly, and the broccolini. However, the radicchio was overly sweet, the trout relish was bitter, and the lion's hand mushroom had an awful Tabasco sauce. Even though the chocolate bar was delicious, it was presented on a bare plate for two people, which was disappointing given the high price of the meal and Valentine's Day.The cost was exorbitant for what we received. For two people, we paid $750, which is far too much for the quality of the food and service we received. I suggest you look elsewhere for a better fine dining experience

Most often when I dine at a prix fixe fine dining

3/5 by 👻 @Cathy L. on 02/23/2023

Most often when I dine at a prix fixe fine dining restaurant, I'm either just full or barely full. My boyfriend and I made the mistake of finishing all the bread and caviar for the first course which filled me up 1/4 of the way already. The courses just kept coming and each dish was massive. Towards the end, the wagyu was literally an entire steak. I was so insanely full before the steak course that I wasn't even able to enjoy any of the steak or desserts. My three stars are not coming from the fact that there's is too much food - more food is definitely better than not having enough food! I genuinely felt the dishes were very mediocre. Some dishes were too sour or just a little odd. For example, we had a whole cabbage that we were supposed to cut open and dig in while the cabbage was coated in this red sauce. For the price of over 250$ each, I will not be revisiting this restaurant.

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Angler San Francisco at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Angler San Francisco page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* PerceptiveWash44, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* PerceptiveWash44 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to PerceptiveWash44 for any questions Peter may have as PerceptiveWash44 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* PerceptiveWash44 now uses their connections at Angler San Francisco to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If PerceptiveWash44 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, PerceptiveWash44 receives the $200 reward which is credited to PerceptiveWash44's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Angler San Francisco!
