Six of us stood in line around 10pm.
Lady asked how many of us. We told her six, and she said just to give them a few mins and they would let us in. She then let in about 10-15 that just walked up after that while we stood there. We kindly left the line, and promise to never go back there.

Went to this place for brunch and loved it! It was very quiet, with not a lot of people around, but that had nothing to do with the food. I had the short rib Benny and I would highly recommend! Check it out if you are looking for a good brunch spot with no wait.

Stopped in for dinner before heading to a concert at Roger's Arena. Staff was super friendly and welcoming and loved the cozy corner table on the heated patio. The holiday decor made the place feel very festive. We started with drinks and the avocado bruschetta which was amazingly delicious. I had the butternut squash tagliatelle which was creamy and delicious and loved the addition of the crispy sage - very fall tasting. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the warm pear salad with chicken. I only regret I didn't have room for the cheesecake - that'll have to be for my next visit.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED BLATANT
This is the FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED BLATANT RACISM and DISCRIMINATION. My friends and I came to Banter Room on a Saturday night. We were a group of 11 girls celebrating a 30th birthday and excited to check out Banter Room after our a nice dinner down the street. Here is what happened: Entrance: We arrived at 12:30 am and ready to provide our IDs to the bouncer since there was no one in line. We were immediately told that they could not accommodate our group. Our group was told that our group was too big due to the bar requiring a seat for each individual to meet capacity regulations. This is absolutely understandable but we were confused at the reasoning for our particular party because the tables that they pointed out to us were empty. The bouncer explained that they couldn't seat us (even though the atmosphere was clearly a standing area) and nobody else was sitting at tables. A second BR employee told us that they were also at capacity and couldn't allow anyone in. Mid-conversation, a group of 9 guys arrived up to the front of the line and we're immediately let in. This was meanwhile we were being told that our group couldn't be accommodated due to being at "max capacity". My girlfriends and I were left shocked. We immediately left because it was clear that they did not want us to come in. We felt discriminated against as a group and we're left confused. We were extremely concerned at how we were being treated but felt like it wasn't worth our energy to reason or question their actions as it was clear the establishment did not want our business and had no practice in equal treatment. I never ever write bad reviews for businesses because it's important for me to not bash establishments for mistakes that can be corrected. This experience left us shaken by the feeling of being discrimination against as we were a large minority group and our birthday girl extremely disappointed. Multiple conversations with multiple employees with conflicting reasons why they wouldn't let us inside. I hope this review helps BR reviews their branding and customer practices.

Our first time strolling through Yaletown; this was a nice spot for an early HH. Friendly staff and good service.

Located on the Yaletown strip, Banter room is a good place to grab some drinks and enjoy good food. I got their bottle of rose and shared with a friend, would recommend. Their prices are also reasonable! For food, we got their pasta which was super creamy and flavourful. I was sharing the pasta with another friend and the staff were kind enough to equally divide the portion. I went there on a Thursday but they still had some good music playing. I'm assuming the place is different on weekends.

we went to yaletown shortly after the pride parade and fully expected to wait to get a table. there was an approximate wait at earls in excess of 35 to 40 minutes, we put our names on the waitlist, and our party walked over to the banter room. surprisingly, they managed to get a table for four at around 4:00 pm, in time for their happy hour (2:00 pm to 5:00 pm). this place is almost always packed, has a relaxed vibe, and is dog friendly. it's the perfect place to chill with friends, catch up over cold drinks and share appetizers. the banter room has a great selection of menu items during happy hour. we shared the chicken wings, cajun waffle fries, wagyu beef sliders, (these were really good) fish tacos (fish was nicely battered), crispy tiger prawns, and sesame tuna (nice touch with the dressing in the kale).

We were on the waitlist for a table outside to be ready in a half hour and waited over an hour to be told we will not be guaranteed a table. Horrible service do not recommend. Do not waist your time.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food in a nice setting.
I had the gnocchi and it was OK at best. Service was decent. This is probably a good drink spot but not the best choice for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and nice atmosphere in Yaletown.
My only issue is the staff. Clearly hired based on looks over service experience.

Be the first to ReplyMy friends and I came here to grab a bite after a night out
My friends and I came here to grab a bite after a night out on her birthday and I'm giving it 3 stars because the experience was okay. The food was alright, it was not tasting over the top amazing but was still swallowable. However, the service...probably not all of the waiters are like this there but-We got sat and then placed our orders. when it was time to pay the waiter asked if we wanted our bill together or separately but no one at our table was able to hear her as the music was loud and we were all mid-convo. eventually, I notice her standing at the table and answered that we were all paying separately. she came back with the bill and my friend's boyfriend wanted to be generous and offered to pay for the whole table he politely asked if we could have the bill together and to that, she replied "I asked you if you wanted the bill separate or together" in a rude tone we all just kind of exchanged looks and continued to pay separately.overall, it is just a meh restaurant but I would not come here again or recommend this place to anyone else as there are much better food items available elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was better than the cocktails.
It's an intimate bar with not a lot of open floor space, and the tables are comfortable.
Be the first to ReplyInitial experience as tourist was abysmal.
The place was practically empty no one in line except my friends I. They made us wait outside in the rain for a few min. Ordering experience was mid there are a few things I feel like i would be a snob for mentioning. We all ordered food at the same time. Half our friends got their food about 10 min early was asked how the food was tasting. Kind of just meh. Like they didn't necessary do anything wrong but relative to other restaurant experiences its just subpar. Maybe if one down a couple of drinks the experience becomes elevated. My recommendation avoid .
Be the first to ReplyThis is my new favourite place to go to.
not one person complained about any of their food/meals and everything was great my only small complaint would be waitresses could have a bit more personality and some of the tables need to be fixed so they're not wobbly or slanted proper seating is so important. But regardless I'll still keep going back lol
Be the first to ReplyLovely space and decent menu.
It's definitely decorated well. Service could've been better though.
Be the first to ReplyFood and service were great.
I love a place that has a good selection of items for happy hour and BR did not disappoint. The fish taco was my fave. So much flavor and it was fresh.

To our server whose fake lips are as big as her inflated ego: I'm shocked at how you've held down this job and haven't gotten fired yet. Despite the bad experience, this server has graciously given us prime examples on everything NOT to do as a server:- be no where in sight for your table to waive down other staff members for almost every time they needed to make another order- don't quality check your table's food- take almost twenty minutes to print out your table's bills- re-print bills three times before getting things right (while giving attitude when being told the bills are incorrect)- call out the table if you don't get tippedWhy do I need to tip someone who rarely came by our table to check on us while she was busy flirting with other tables? Let me tell you why! Because according to her, she "constantly filled our water glasses and gave the best service!" I didn't tip our server because I felt like there was no proper "service" given. If you don't get tipped, you either have cheap ass customers or gave cheap ass service. If it's the latter then own up to it instead of trying to fight with your table about deserving a tip.

Probably not your vibe unless you're a real housewife of Vancouver or a rich dude looking for a sugar baby. Cheap happy hour drinks, but if you're not swagged the f out in a neon balenciaga tracksuit and gucci loafers, good luck getting any attention from the servers.

Forgot to wear my Gucci jumpsuit so the servers couldn't find me at my table to take my order. Shoutout to the lady in the neon green skirt, I hope the cocaine was tastier than my drink.
Be the first to ReplySuch a nice place to eat out with friends.
Really loved their menu. Our group will definitely come back here soon.
Be the first to ReplyDropped in to grab a light dinner at someplace new.
The inside of the restaurant is really adorable. Very trendy, with a lot of hard wood and the outdoor seating was 'garden party' inspired with an Alice in wonderland theme. I was disappointed by some of the food and drinks. The gnocchi was good and the superfood salad was fresh with tender chicken but the flat-bread appetizer was not something I'd recommend. It is soggy untoasted flat bread topped with hummus and basically salad on top. The drinks are pricey for what they are- $24 a shot.Red flag - They didn't ID. My first drink was watery and weak and when I asked to send it back they wouldn't and instead sent the bartender to hand deliver a second drink (which they charged me for). After that they changed my tables waitress. I was kinda confused by this whole dramatic situation over a returned drink and felt unwelcome so my partner and I left.

HAPPY HOUR PRICE: 3-5pm!Wagyu beef burger - $5: It was small but overall the meat quality is really good!!Crispy fish taco -$5: this one was surprisingly huge and the fish was so crispy! Recommend this one for sure.Chips & guac - $7: the large portion is perfect for sharing!! The guac & salsa is fresh and I liked the chips.Overall this place is worth it for HH for the price and portions! I will mention that the service was slow but they were busy, however the servers were still really friendly!

POV: Sunday night, passing through Vancouver for the evening, and wanted to stop at a nice lounge for a nightcap after Miku. By recommendation we ended up at Banter Room and West Oak. CONSUMPTION: THAT DRINK (7/10) & PIPEDREAM (5/10)PROS: Centralized location and great music; they play a mixture of Afro beats, hip-hop, and some indie-pop. CONS: Younger crowd, small space, for the price of the PIPEDREAM I was expecting more of a craft cocktail. The drink had a bit too much syrup overpowering the mezcal as it was barely noticeable. OVERALL: 6/10
Be the first to ReplyAnother great Dine Out option to bookmark.
We tried Banter Room during Dine Out Festival for the first time during Dine Out and for $39, you're really getting a huge bang for your buck. For just $39 we got ALL these yummy eats. First impressions, I was really impressed. They've got a nice vibe going on inside and their patio looks super cozy. I actually really liked their drink menu and I would go back to try more of their cocktails! They look like they have an amazing and extensive list of cocktails.JOHNNIE WALKER BLACK DUMPLINGS I'm pretty picky when it comes to dumplings and to my surprise these were actually really good. These dumplings were hot, had lots of soup and meat, and the skin wasn't too thick and neither was it too thin. The fillings consisted of pork, Johnnie Walker black whisky, green onion and sesame oil. It also came with two sauces: sriracha aioli and a sweet soy. Definitely would order this again. Made by @therealdumplingking !SESAME CRUSTED TUNASuper tasty, fresh and perfectly seared. Loved bed of kale gomae the tuna sat on.GREEN CURRY SALMONThey plated this extremely beautiful and I loved all the veggies that were included. It had baby bok choy, roasted corn, tomatoes and shitake mushroom. The green curry was soo delicious with the salmon. Only critique I had was that the salmon was slightly overcooked for me.HONEY GLAZED CHICKENIncluded mash potatoes, portobello mushroom gravy, veggies and honey glazed chicken. A simple dish. It was a bit cold when it came out but we loved the gravy - it had lots of flavour. The chicken itself was juicy and sweet!NEW YORK CHEESECAKE This was so delicious. After one bite I could tell that this was homemade or made in house. The goat cheese on top really made such a nice touch and I honestly never had goat cheese on top of my cheesecake but I loved it. The strawberry compote was delicious with the cake but I wish there was more of it drizzled on top. It was a great way to end our meal nonetheless.LYCHEE MOTHAF*****I drank on a Monday again.. Love that this wasn't too sweet. Lots of lychee flavour and strong in alcohol taste. Really also love the fun name.
