Broussard's Restaurant & Courtyard New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Jazz brunch in the courtyard
We were looking for a Jazz brunch. The musicians were entertaining but they do roam, so we did not get a lot of time listening to them. We sat outside in the courtyard which has a great atmosphere. The service was terrific. The food was good, I would have liked a few more options on the food menu.
Overrated
Stopped in for lunch based on the reputation of Broussard's. We were greeted by a snippy receptionist who wanted to know if we had a reservation. We did not, and noted to her that the place was two thirds empty. She relented and seated us. The food was mediocre and the service good but not great. For the prices they ask, we expected more. Will not return as there are many good places to eat in New Orleans that may not have the name, but are legitimate good eats.
Disappointing Experience
We were visiting New Orleans for four days and went to Broussard's for our last dinner. It was just ok at best. They give you some French bread with a little butter to start. Our appetizers were ok but nothing great. For the mains, my husband got the pork chop which was just so so. Not nearly as good as ones we have had in other restaurants. I had the fish dish which was Mahi Mahi. The description sounded great but the stuffing was blah and the fish was very dry and overcooked.. There were green beans under the fish; but for some reason, they did not take the ends off of them. I had a creme brûlée dessert which was alright and my husband had the cherry sorbet which was good. I wanted an iced tea but their machine was down and I asked for an herbal tea at the end of the meal and I was told they didn't have any. However, they came out with a chamomile one. The service was fine but I wish we had gone somewhere else for our last dinner in New Orleans.
Easter brunch spectacular
Stopped for Easter brunch and by far the best service & food & atmosphere of our trip! Must go! Cami was wonderful❤️ and so was everyone else! Get the bottomless mimosas, worth it!!!
Jazz Brunch
Overall disappointed. The mushroom & onion omelet was almost tasteless and the lyonnaise potatoes were not good....tasted like they used old oil to cook them. The redfish was good but overpriced and the mixed vegetables tasted like they were cooked in old oil and were not good. The fried oyster appetizer was ok but over fried. The only reason I gave the meal 2 stars was because I wasn't charged for the omelet.
Wonderful dinner
Wondedful quiet and tasty dinner. I would recommend the BBQ shrimp and also try their cocktails of the decades. They have one for each 10 years they have been open - ten total.
Jazz Brunch
We went to the jazz brunch, and the food was excellent. We tried this restaurant due to its convenient location for our hotel, and we were glad we did. We enjoyed the musicians but they were only within hearing distance of us about 15 minutes. The special Mardi Gras dessert is delicious!
We were not obviously old enough
We were excited to try their Jazz Brunch , but unfortunately since we prefer to enjoy the casual atmosphere sitting at the bar we were asked for picture ID Seriously thought the bartender MR PAUL was teasing us since my fiancé and I are both in our 50’s “Nope, those are the rules, I don’t make them “ was his abrupt response Spirit of the law vs letter of the law … the rule was is designed to make sure folks under 21 don’t drink , but some common sense should prevail!! We we offered a table but due to the whole experience we opted to take our business to Stanley’s on St Ann Awesome breakfast without the attitude - we made sure to tell the manager Kyle
Don't have high expectations.
To begin with we had reservations for 8:30 PM we arrived promptly on time. We had to wait a good 25 minutes before we were seated. The overall appearance and vibe of the entrance was a little off. The front doors were propped open and the pot and cigarette smoke were flowing right in the door for some very unpleasant odors. This also added to the already very loud interior. Once we were seated the drink service was not very fast at all. The table next to us were ordering new drinks as soon as the waitress put theirs on the table since it was taking so long to get drinks. We tried the turtle soup, seafood gumbo, crab cake appetizer and pork belly. Turtle soup was probably the least desirable I have eaten in New Orleans. Crab cake was good but not over the top. Seafood gumbo was nothing special either. For our main courses we tried the Pork chop and the grilled fish. Again, average at best. The most disappointing part were the restrooms. Don't know that I have seen any worse in a really bad truck stop. Certainly, not what Broussard's should be. Attention to detail has gone out the window here. Management needs to step up and pay attention to the details. Overall it was a disappointing experience. Broussard's has been around for a long time. I can't see how they are operating now will keep them going. And can there be a little dress code? Rednecks wearing ball caps at a white tablecloth dining establishment is just not acceptable. Thanks
Santa Brunch without Santa... but you still have to pay for him!
We booked a SANTA Brunch for my family at 2:30pm. They were actually taking reservations until 3:00pm, so we were not the last seating of the day. The price was listed as $65 per person because of the Special Event (Santa). I called the restaurant to ask about a children's menu/kid pricing. I was told that they were still in the process of creating the menu, but that the children's menu is typically around $20-25 per person. We arrived at the restaurant at 2:20pm, to check in for our 2:30pm reservation and before we were even seated we saw Santa leaving. We stayed for brunch, only to learn that there was not a children's menu, the price for children was also $65, because of the Santa experience that we missed. I asked our server why Santa left, since the brunch was after all a "Santa Brunch" and the server replied, "I'm not sure, he usually sticks around longer, but for some reason he got out of here early today." You can imagine that was exactly the response we were looking for, so we asked for a manager, hoping for a more satisfactory response. The manager was not available, so they sent another associate to our table to inform us that we were past the time of the Santa Brunch, even though our reservations were at 2:30pm, and they were advertising reservations until 3pm. I also told him that I thought it was unfair that we were charged full price for Santa Brunch, since there was no Santa. That is the very reason I got my kids dressed up, so come see Santa and get a nice family photo. I was offered a complimentary dessert which equated to a $50 discount, off of a $700 bill. Here is the real kicker, the advertisement for the brunch listed a complimentary dessert... so we got nothing but disappointed children and a $650 bill, and that was before gratuity. Total rip off!
