Elephant & Castle Temple Bar Dublin 2 Reviews from The Last Year
Not the best experience
Service at beginning very good quick and efficient, had burger with vintage cheese burger lovely but no dressing in r mayonnaise one large lettuce leaf one large slice of tomato gherkins, served with skin in chips which were not homemade no relishes ok not bottle of tomato ketchup out on table for £15.95 not brilliant, then when finished the meal the bill was put on table and noticed this going on at other tables rushing you out to get next people in no thank you as we left in fact quite rude just want money no ambience or welcome
Disappointing
Booked a table a week before we had went here. Got to the premises at our reservation time and were told they couldn't give us a table even though there were numerous tables available and like I said we had made a booking a week before. When I explained the lady that served us said I'm just telling you what my manager said... no real reason as to why we couldn't sit and eat? Definitely won't be back..
Popular touristy restaurant
I visited recently, whilst looking for somewhere to eat, close to the Temple Bar area. It was an early dinner and plenty of tables were available, so I was seated straight away. The server was friendly and efficient and he regularly topped up my glass of water. The menu waz extensive. American/ Mediterranean options. I opted for the halloumi, olive tapenade, pepper and courgette ciabatta. It was tasty with a really small side of fries accompanying it. For the price, I would've like a slightly bigger serving of fries really ! My friend had the burger and she said it was tasty however, the bun was not as fresh as she would've expected. The price reflected the fact that this restaurant is in the heart of the tourist district. I would recommend and return. Thank you.
This was one of the cutest restaurants I found in Dublin.
The interior was a cute cross between modern and vintage. The paneled walls made the space feel so cozy! The service was very good, and fast compared to most other places we went to in Dublin. The food was great and very fresh! I got a roasted zucchini sandwich and it was great! Would highly recommend!
Great Wings!
Great food and atmosphere. We had the chicken wings - which were great, the tomato and mozzarella bruschetta and the crisply cauliflower wings. The chicken wings were best. Did not have a sandwich but they looked really good! Seemed to be a popular place as it was busy mid-day.
Not good
Food was not many choice, bad,to many noise(train)waiting for lunch...many people waiting.i did more expectation more from it.
skip the famous temple bar and head down the street to this place instead!
So we (and every other tourist in Dublin) headed to the famous temple bar (the red one). It was insanely crowded with no way to get a table. My advice is to take a photo in front of the temple bar and head down the street to the Elephant and Castle. It wasn't crowded and had a nice atmosphere and one could actually sit down. we ordered burgers and fries which were quite good. they had a very nice local beer. Wicklow tropical IPA. prices were reasonable for the area. I would recommend.
Great wings
They’re not lying when they say their wings are great. Went here for brunch / lunch whilst in Dublin, really enjoyed the food (after wings we had a couple of the egg dishes). Cocktails were great and the decor - 1970s New York - was a fun change from the ‘traditional’ Irish pubs of Temple Bar.
Great location
Last minute decision to make reservations here and the experience was okay. We had the house Caesar salad and the elephant burger. Both were good, not amazing.
Great service and quickly seated in spite of being in the
Great service and quickly seated in spite of being in the very trendy Temple Bar area! I have to admit that these are in the top two of best wings I've ever had- and I try them everywhere they're on the menu! It was extremely surprising to find such great buffalo wings in Ireland! They were perfectly cooked- crispy on the outside-juicy & tender inside and the sauce was 10/10. To make this deal even sweeter- 20 wings were under 18€! I was shocked because wings in the US have become incredibly expensive. The mussels and frites were great too!
Visited for brunch on a Saturday morning.
We got the last table before a long wait which worked out nicely!! Got the cappuccino and eggs florentine which were really good!
We stopped in here for dinner with a family of six.
We were sited pretty quickly. It took a minute for the server to come over. He was not very friendly and made us feel rushed as we were not 100% ready when he got there. We ordered club sandwich, cauliflower wings, salad and Rueben. The club sandwich was very good but served with tortilla chips, just and odd side. The cauliflower wings were cauliflower in buffalo sauce and breading. They were very good. The Rueben did say that it had dijonaysse. Well in my book that is not a Rueben. There was not very much meat, more than enough sauerkraut and the dijonaysse was too mayo tasting. It also came with tortilla chips as the side. The club would be an okay item to get and there may be other things to order that may be good. The service needs to improve, just be friendly.
Crispy but perfectly glazed in the sauce - the chicken
Crispy but perfectly glazed in the sauce - the chicken wings were amazing. For any chicken wing lovers I would 10/10 recommend making a pit stop here. I love how they were prepared for the chicken wing clean up too!
The food was mediocre, low portion sizes and expensive
The food was mediocre, low portion sizes and expensive prices for standard pub food. Brownie was burnt, asked for a replacement, also tasted burnt + raw. As if the Brownie was cooked too quickly and the bottom was burnt but the top raw. I haven't left a bad review before but three quarters of our 90euro meal was disappointing.
It looked like a very popular spot so we Stopped by for
It looked like a very popular spot so we Stopped by for brunch and it was ok. Inside was spacious with tons of seating. The menu was decent and people were raving about the food there so I was excited to try. I settled for the Irish breakfast which I thought was very mediocre. Nothing very special about it. Price was a little high for the food. Service was ok. We were not very tended to. Kind of given our food and forgotten about.
We popped in here for dinner while wandering around.
We got the wings and a salad. They give you a ton of wings, which is awesome, but they were pretty small, but delicious. The service was great, we got a table right away despite appearing quite busy with people waiting outside. I especially enjoyed the climbing monsters plant on one of the walls. Good spot.
