We were fortunate to snag a kitchen table spot for dinner, giving us a front row seat to watch the first day of the fall menu. Considering it was the first day, and the chefs are under the diners' microscope, there were very few fumbles, and only a couple sharp looks from one chef to another, which I thought was quite impressive. The food was divine. We ate here, Alchemist, and Noma the same week, and the two best dishes in my mind were served by Geranium: the bread course was unexpectedly mind-blowingly good, and the kohlrabi dish, with a sauce of apple, pumpkin seed oil, and caviar, was the single best dish I ate all week. The tomato essence that sauced a salted mackerel appetizer was also something I wish I could have bottled and taken home with me. The juice pairings were inspired and delicious; and the "Heart and Soil" wine pairing offered exactly what we like: unique wines from unique areas otherwise hard to try. We got a couple Sicilian wines, a red from the Jura in France, an area I'd love to try more from, and a champagne unexpectedly in the middle of the meal that paired perfectly. The server team was outstanding, highlighted by a great tour of the kitchen and wine cellar, and capped with a generous pause from the chefs to allow for some pictures with them. In service, though, there were a couple misses: the bathroom had a toilet seat left up, we waited a surprising amount of time after our last course was served to get asked if we'd like anything else (tough to even flag someone down for the check), but the worst miss was that Soren Ledet made two passes through the dining area, and I didn't see him greet a single diner, including us at his kitchen table. A day after being treated like royalty by Rasmus Munk at the Alchemist was notable by comparison. We absolutely loved the meal; in the end, the food speaks the loudest, and it kept this rating at a 5 star vs. 4.
Top European Restaurant
Geranium is superb, one of the very best restaurants in Europe. We’d dined here numerous times during our past visits to Copenhagen. It has to be experienced. So many dishes and each excellent. Fully deserving of three Michelin stars.
Worth the money if you stay near copenhagen
Had the chance to eat food by the chef when he was at the top 50 restaurant award and decided to come here for it. Very friendly staff. Food is bounds ahead of all of the vegan/vegetarian places i tried in copenhagen.
Best dining experience of our life
Dining at Geranium was the most interesting and amazing experience we’ve ever had at a restaurant, and we hope to come back someday. Thank you for making our wedding day so special—we are so grateful to you. We were graciously squeezed in to celebrate our wedding here, and we have never had such an incredible dining experience. The ambiance was lovely, it felt intimate yet spacious. The service was absolutely unparalleled, unlike anything we have ever experienced. Everyone seemed excited to celebrate with us and very invested in providing a memorable and special celebration for us, they even wanted to take a picture with us. We felt welcomed and well cared for the entire time. The paper menu was beautiful, as was the printed note for the gifted wine pairing we received from a relative. One of the staff showed the room how you open a wine bottle with port tongs, which was fun. We love to cook, and one of us works in the food industry, so we were excited to learn about the dishes and the wine. All our questions were answered, and we learned a lot. The tour was interesting as well. The food was exquisite, the dishes were inventive and unique; we still think about them. Dietary restrictions were carefully considered and met. We especially enjoyed that the chefs who made the dishes came to our table to explain them. The wine pairing was delicious and very generous.
Incredible
We booked 6 months in advance but this dining experience was worth the wait. From the view, through the tour of back of house and their wine cellar it was an unforgettable dining experience. The spring menu was a cacophony of gorgeous presentation and amazing flavours.
Just unbelievable
This was my best ding experience ever! We enjoyed every minute of it. The ambiance, the wonderful staff, the tableware and then of course the food and wine and how the food was presented on our posted. Can’t decide what the best dish was; The beetroot daisies, the oisters, the beautiful veggie dish or the mix of chocolate deserts…
Truly creative award-winning meat-free dining.
Dining at this 2022 Best Restaurant in the World winner (succeeding the legendary “Noma”) was an unexpected privilege magically secured for us at the last minute by the Nimb Hotel Concierge. Situated within the sleek new National Football Stadium located in Copenhagen’s central garden, “Geranium” is accessed at the stroke of opening hours by waiting lucky reserved guests via a tiny elevator from a nondescript small lobby that opens up to an unexpectedly light-flooded and airily spacious modernistic restaurant on the 8th floor. You are then ushered by group to your assigned table by the very welcoming hosting staff and dining commences once everyone is settled. The 3-Michelin star restaurant only offers meat-free seasonal Tasting Menus of about 20 courses that reflect Bocuse d’Or winner Chef Rasmus Kofoed’s inventive takes on Scandinavian cuisine highlighting Nordic seafood and local organic produce. The nigh 3-hour service is performatively executed in table order by sous-chefs who present their own platings from the finish kitchen arena at the front of the dining area. This offers diners a delightful opportunity to chat with these culinary aspirants about their own thoughful creations. As befits a restaurant co-owned by an advanced sommelier general manager, there are expensive wine-paired renditions of the tasting menu emanating from the restaurant’s notable wine cellars. Non-alcoholic editions are also offered. Following your feast of bite-sized delectable delights, you are invited by table to tour the back prep kitchen and meet the staging assistants who chortle at your startled sight of their back windows directly overlooking the stadium playing field. Free soccer viewing is a welcome bonus to their unheralded prepping efforts. After “family photographs” taken by table with the entire staff back at the final plating kitchen, you leave at your leisure with a little farewell gift presented by the reception desk. A nice little touch to cap an exceptional creative dining experience.
Unforgettable
Sublime experience. The staff is so professional but warm and engaging but serve with precision. Each dish was beautiful and brought together the freshness of spring with layering of flavors so well composed that each layer was present. The Rare and Unique wine pairing was magnificent. The view, the tour and the soccer field contribute to making this the most special and memorable meal ever. We felt so lucky to have the experience.
Worth it.
A fantastic experience located on top of a football pitch. Filming of the hit show, The Bear. Creative flavors with gorgeous pottery- extensive wine cellar and very friendly owners. Fancy, expensive, worth it.
Sensational
I have been luckily enough to eat in some amazing restaurants and my experiences just seem to be getting better with each bite. This restaurant based in a football stadium (with our match views) is by far the best so far. The experience, service, wine and food all the best yet. From stocking our favourite wines (yes all of them) to delivering mouthful after mouthful or sensational food. Wow You made a birthday experience to remember
Worst fine dining experience of my life
Before starting this review I would just like to make a disclaimer for context: me and my family really enjoy going to fine dining restaurants and have been to many many 3-Michelin stars and 2-stars restaurants so we’re quite familiar with the procedures and prices of a fine dining restaurant and I believe we speak with property. We were all very excited for our experience at Geranium since it was considered the best restaurant in the world, but it turned out to be the absolute worst experience that we’ve ever had in a so said fine dining restaurant. For starters, we sat down and the first amuse-bouche took 50 MINUTES to come to the table, we had almost finished an entire bottle of wine by then. When it finally came it was a 2 centimetre tart that had nothing special about it and the next plate, once again, took 30-40 minutes to come. That went on the entire night and we stayed FOUR AND HALF HOURS in the restaurant - we arrived at 18:30 and left 23h, which is absolutely outrageous. Other than that, the menu was composed by SEVENTEEN dishes, which is also absurd, and all of the dishes were very very tiny and made it almost impossible to actually enjoy the flavour of the dishes (which was sometimes non-existant) because once you tasted it, it was gone. All of the dishes were composed basically of nicely cut vegetables with some sort of tasteless juice, in ridiculously small quantities. The best you will get from Geranium is a staff with nice smiles and overpriced vegetables, and possibly some wrinkles from aging while you endlessly wait for the next edible flower. The worst part of the dinner though was the check: the highest bill we’ve ever paid in a restaurant for the worst experience of our lives. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Genius
Having been slightly disappointed in Noma a couple of years ago I was eager to see what this restaurant was all about. Well it’s definitely unique. Based on the 8th floor of a complex which houses the national football stadium for a start. Once you get out of the lift though you enter a very light and well considered room. Everything very, well, Skandi. Calmness prevails but there is also a warmness about the place which is carried throughout by the excellent waiting staff. So the menu itself is about twenty something small bite sized dishes. Obviously if you have an allergy or don’t like an ingredient they just substitute it. Very importantly it is a meat free menu. Now I must admit I hadn’t realised that and it may have impacted on whether I came. I have to say the lack of meat didn’t reduce my enjoyment one bit. In fact I came away feeling nicely full and very satisfied. That’s all down to the quality and innovation of the dishes. Everything was just so immaculate, well constructed and beautifully presented. It worked so well as a collective. Now we had the basic wine pairing but there are 4 options as well as just by the glass/bottle. Some excellent and interesting wines. I was a bit concerned when a Pinot noir appeared given no meat but it worked very well with the turbot. Obviously it’s not for the faint hearted as far as emptying the wallet goes but it’s a wonderful and special experience. I think at Noma we felt like part of somebody else’s experiment where as here we felt the experiment was done especially for us.
YOLO Dining
What is there to say about Geranium that hasn’t been said? If you’re on the fence about going, get off the fence and go. We had a marvelous experience all around. The food is interesting, with things you wouldn’t think to eat combined in a way you wouldn’t expect. It is elevated but not inaccessible, especially once the dishes are explained. The service is warm and friendly. We never felt out of place or like we shouldn’t be there. It was very cool to tour the wine cellar and kitchens between the savory and dessert courses. The energy in the front and back kitchens was collegial. It’s definitely a place that could feel competitive or high pressure. Instead, it felt like everyone genuinely wanted to be there and enjoyed it —not something to you get in every workplace. Overall, if you’re into once in a lifetime experiences in a global city with outstanding cuisine, this should be your stop.
Still wonderful
Geranium is a beautiful restaurant with an incredible wine list, and a pleasant atmosphere that allows for an enjoyable conversation. The service is spotless. Geranium is one of the best restaurants in Denmark. I had the pleasure to dine at Geranium few years ago and it seems as if it didn't change much. Unlike most restaurants, I find Geranium unique in that it is suitable for different purposes, family gathering, friends get together or business dinner (as long as you don't mind a long dinner).
The perfect restaurant
When planning my trip to Denmark I decided to book in advance a table here after researching a few options in Copenhagen Michelin Guide. The place didn't disappoint! Food was pretty laid back but extremely tasty - the chefs manage to give a special and unique touch to every single dish .
Amazing!
We were so lucky that our hotel managed to get us a reservation at this restaurant the week before we visited Copenhagen. It lived up to its reputation in terms of presentation, textures and flavours all with no meat which was a refreshing change for us. The service was fantastic by coincidence the Sommelier came from a neighbouring village in Oxfordshire. An unforgettable experience, although the cost is eye watering.
Truly exceptional dinner with a few suggestions to make your experience even better
This is a truly amazing experience. The food, the presentations and the people. Special big thanks to Jackie the wine expert who was not only a true expert but also a great, genuine and friendly person. Although i did give 5 stars because the restaurant deserves it, here are a few points for improvement : 1. The espresso was truly undrinkable. Sorry. They make a whole fuss of it with hand-held machines at your table but the espresso is so sour that it is really undrinkable. Guys- for such an amazing place, do something about your coffee ! 2. Be prepared for this exceptional dinner, it is not for everyone : ALL dishes are miniature size that you finish in two bites. This is not a problem with amount of food (-you will not get out hungry, there are enough "bites") but you will not be able to "linger' on a main course or something more substantial. We did not mind so much but be aware. 3. The price is exceptionally high. Around 500 Euro's without drinks. I understand that this kind of dinner is expensive to make (not to mention the exceptional service and personnel) but judge for yourself if this worths the expense. Especially annoying is the pricing of their wines which is on the high side even comparing to other restaurants in Copenhagen. Be aware. Their non-alcoholic arrangement of exceptional juices is also extremely expensive at 250 Euro per person. Again- i am not saying it is overpriced because the amount of labor invested in it is amazing, but still- a lot of money...
Absolute splendour
Wow! The most magnificent dining experience for my sons 21st birthday. The food was exceptional, wine list impeccable, service outstanding! The entire evening was splendid & they treated us like the only ones in the room. The 18 courses (caviar extra) of fish & vegetables were beautiful, delicious, inventive & perfect. The attention to detail was breathtaking. It was art on a plate & an incredible theatre. The whole team were welcoming, friendly and extremely professional. There’s a reason it’s the best restaurant in the world, it deserves its reputation & every one of its stars. Honoured to have been there. Cannot praise, recommend or thank them enough. A night we will never forget.
Excellent food, Excellent service
There's a reason this restaurant is currently ranked as Best in the World. The food is excellent, the service is impeccable, and the entire evening was truly an experience. I have a food allergy, and the restaurant graciously accommodated me. We opted against the wine pairing in favor of wine by the bottle, and the excellent sommelier was able to provide great advice when selecting from the 200+ page wine menu. I'm so glad to have had this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Excellent Experience
My wife and I had lunch here on a Friday. It’s expensive but its reputation is well-deserved. I placed the reservation very early. It looked like lunches were easier to book than dinners and Friday lunches were easier to book than Saturday. Tables for two were harder to get than tables for four. Food was very innovative and almost too pretty to eat. Attention to detail regarding presentation is second to none. There was one dish we thought was average. Everything else was excellent to perfect. Service was friendly and professional. The sommelier/Red Sox fan was very helpful. The meal was well paced and lasted about three hours. Prior to the dessert courses you can take a tour of the wine cellar and the facilities. It was very interesting and a nice break between courses. We purchased a bottle of wine and some individual drinks. We ordered sherry for our last round and were surprised that they only carried one brand. I was expecting a list of 5-10 by the glass. Sherry must not be popular in Copenhagen but I still find it odd for a restaurant that has a wine list the size of a dictionary, Not sure if it’s the best restaurant in the world but they make a compelling argument.

4.) Payment & Protection
