the food is great I'm a regular I love the food actually but the staff need to learn that before coming to work the sticks get put away and not shoved up your &$s. it's a job idk what they are so mad about all the time hate your game not the players
TLDR: Rushed, intrusive service.
But overall, pretty good food! I came her to celebrate a friends birthday and we were wedged into a small booth. The server was very aggressive about us putting our orders in and said we had a hard out in 90min (it was a Monday night). That was kind of a weird vibe but she was nice about it - it just wasn't welcoming. The burrata peach salad was great. Broccolini was okay - a bit oily watery. The gem lettuce salad was okay as well. The lemon spaghetti was pretty good, the eggplant was pretty standard, but the spicy fusilli was the best dish by far and the only one I'd order again. For dessert we had the strawberry bread pudding which was good, the soft serve which was very pricey for what it was ($9 for a small cup) but was good, and the cannolis were the perfect size to share with 2 and were good! I also ordered a decaf coffee which was truly gross and served lukewarm. I asked for them to heat it and the servers kind brought another one, hot this time. But still tasted horrible (burnt, not hot enough, skip the coffee). Overall a good place if you're not looking to lounge around and better for smaller parties (under 4). Servers and workers were all pretty friendly.

I was in town visiting my best friend and this was on our list and let me tell you it did not disappoint!!! If you're visiting from out of town do yourself a favor and GO! I was in town for a week and this was my #1 favorite place we went to! All of the food was soooo good! I'm still dreaming of every single dish! Our waitress was actually the manager and she was so full of information she was so knowledgeable and we could tell she loved her job! The place was super cute and cozy and when I'm back in Cali I can't wait to come again! I hope they franchise to Houston!
Food: 4.
5 White Lightning pizza is very good. $24.95. $20 would be more reasonable prize, but it was 6 slices / decent portion that could feed 3 people. Ambiance: 0. It's very small. But my biggest issue is them blasting rap music with the n word and curses. There were at least 8 children under the age of 14 in there at dinner time and they had to be subjected to curse words, plus it was WAY TOO LOUD. Turn it down so people don't have to yell to have a decent conversation and add more of a variety of genres of music without curses. I wouldn't go back because of the loud inappropriate music. Staff: 5.0 All polite and hard-working.

Amazing!!!!! Service , flavor, and ambiance oozing in the middle of Fairfax district. With the variety of pizza and pasta that we ordered, nothing failed us. Want anchovies, no problem! They served it on the side. Ask and you shall receive! Best service, no attitude! Really enjoyed lunch here.

The food, ambiance, and cooks was great! Waiters were eh and not very welcoming/helpful
Service was wack.
Not sure why there's an extra charge when the hostess is rude and lacks customer service. The server was okay, but never got a refill for my drink or asked if we needed more water. We ordered the Bolognese pasta and gem salad. The salad was good. The pasta however was bitter and acidic. Way different from our previous experiences. Honestly with the amount of restaurants that serve pastas and pizza on melrose I won't be coming back to this place. Overpriced and overrated.
Hadn't been to the Fairfax location in a long time.
Usually a wait and parking can be difficult. It was a late lunch so got in easy. By far this location is still the best!!!. Everyone is super friendly, compliments to the chef... Gem Salad (nice and fresh) and the meatballs (outdtanding!!!). Glad I made this my choice fir the day. Won't wait so long to come back next time.
WONDERFUL ITALIAN FOOD
I ordered my favorite lemon breaded pasta and it was fabulous to sit outside and enjoy the heat lamps. It is less crowded than the Brentwood location and more chill vibes. I really love the ample parking spot and ambiance here versus the other location, but both places food quality are really on point. Service is exceptional. They always deserve 100 stars in my opinion and yes I am a super regular.

I wanted to hate this place, and trust me I did for a long time. Being from NY I felt obligated almost. I stayed away for years until my friend suggested we go again before a movie and I decided not to whine about it and eat the damn pizza. And to my surprise, it was good. God what was wrong with me? Why was I enjoying it so much? An arugula salad? It can't possibly be so delicious. Oh my god it is! Jokes aside it's great italian food. I get the hate and can still understand where people come from; especially as another location just opened off Slauson *jazz hands* gentrification! But..the quality of ingredients is great. From the pasta to the salad to the pizza everything hit the mark for me and my little guilty extra bonus is they have saratoga sparkling water. Stupid boujee thing to appreciate but I can't help it. Can't say the prices really make sense but I'd like to come back again sometime.
Perfect spot right in the middle of everything
I adore this amazing eatery. My favorite thing is the Ricotta & Orange Blossom Honey toast. The bread is crunchy, thick, grilled and fullof flavor. The extremely thick layer of high quality ricotta has such a delicate sweeness. Topped with toasted sesame seeds that add not only texture but a slight nuttiness that perfectly compliments the ricotta. And then the piece de resistance is the perfect drizzle of local orange blossom honey it adds the peefect end note to this lucious dish. I love eating there as well. Everyone is so friendly. The cooks are consistent and fabulous. It's so much fun just enjoying the sights and sounds of Fairfax while have the best pizza or various bruschettas they offer. The ambiance is half pizza joint and half Los Angeles trendy eatery. It's definitely one of my favorite places to dine.
Thieves!! This place is an insult to the hospitality
Thieves!! This place is an insult to the hospitality industry. They add an 18% up charge to your bill that's goes to the kitchen and they refuse to remove it. This is not gratuity, but a service charge. I guess in modern hyper capitalism the customer has to pay for the food, the staff's wages, the restaurant's rent, insurance etc. I emailed the company about it last week, I didn't get a response, I hope they read this. Ps. The manager (brunette woman with tattoos) is one of the rudest people I've seen in my entire life.
OH THE AUDACITY! The owners at Jon & Vinny's have the
OH THE AUDACITY! The owners at Jon & Vinny's have the audacity to ask us - the guests - to pay the wages for the kitchen staff. BEWARE, they add an 18% service charge that goes to the kitchen, it's not a tip for the wait staff. On the non operational stuff, the food is OK, the wait staff are all professionals and fun people and they totally earned my 20% tip and I wish them all the best. The brunette manager should work for At&T or something, with her odious demeanor she'd blend in just fine. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else.
The service may just be what one walks away remembering-
The service may just be what one walks away remembering- making the most impression. Love the bar stationed facing the firewood pizza oven and a giant bowl of avocados just drooling across from my face. They dared. The sushi bar setup is a great interpretation of a pizza joint, as is their Caesar salad-- it came highly recommended and to tell the truth stomped me at first sight. But the flavor, dressing was not a typical creamy white Caesar but a little more tang and sprinkled with pre ground croutons. Somebody thought about those with hard of teeth! It came with individual hearty romaine lettuce and let me tell you how much saucy mustache your mustache will end up carrying. A LOT! But this is a pizza joint, only creepos eat pizzas with knife and fork- perfect time to experiment how food feels in your hands and forget about COVID. The shroomy pizza is LOADED with mushrooms. When it went in the oven there must've been just a an explosion of mushrooms. There's not much cheese on there though. That broccolini was perfectly tender but also slaps you in the face as you strangle that fibery crunchy stalk from wiping more sauce on face. It's how most places serve it though so I can't complain. But one hiccup was the coffee we ordered never came yet it showed up on the bill instead. But the waitress was nice about it.. but it feels like they're somehow understaffed and over-employed. Highly recommend making a reservation otherwise come before the crowd shows up and they come fast.
I went to this place a few days back.
Restaurant added mandatory 18%service charge, not a server gratuity. I wanted to tip directly, but they wouldn't remove it. The manager (brunette lady with tattoos) was extremely rude and bluntly told me that if I don't like it I shouldn't come back to their establishment.
18% service charge added to your bill and no, this is not
18% service charge added to your bill and no, this is not gratuity. So 18% service charge and 20%tip is a 38% markup!! I went to the restaurant with my friend around 4pm today. The staff was nice and the food was good. We had calamari, margarita pizza, bolognese and a couple of beers. We enjoyed our time there, nothing spectacular, but again, it's not that we went to Bestia or Felix; always manage your expectations. So, we are leaving and the check was dropped to our table. I see 18% service charge and I go to the host stand to pay with Apple Pay. That's when I wanted to make sure that they did charge 18% gratuity but I found out that 18% service charge Is for the kitchen and not for the servers. I asked them to remove it so I can tip 20% the wait staff, but they said no. So the manager came, a brunette woman which she compensated for her lack of height with her gigantic attitude and she said: "no, we will not remove the service charge." So this restaurant wants its guests to pay for the wages of their kitchen staff... this is absurd. I thought this was illegal, but maybe not anymore. Regardless, screw that place, go somewhere else.
Jon And Vinnyโs
This place was very popular when it opened across the street from Supreme on Fairfax. They used to act like employees at Supreme and had that attitude like youโre lucky to get in. Now that Supreme moved to Sunset Blvd, Jon and Vinnyโs is no longer in demand. Not on Fairfax or Brentwood. The food was always ok but not worth waiting in line for or paying their ridiculous prices. The Caesar is good if youโre dining in but itโs a joke if you get it delivered. It comes with 5-6 romaine leaves and not worth $20. I hate to say it but they deserve to fail.

ik this place is rly popular and hyped in la and i wanted to try it for myself :O and it exceeded my expectations tbh it was so good we devoured everything in like 20 mins i wanna go back and try everything on the menu! would recommend to make a reservation although we did a walk in and it was only abt ~45 mins on a sunday night! workers were super nice and attentive and i enjoyed the overall ambiance~ even if it was dark asf LMAOO garlic bread 9/10: we added cheese as an extra and i think it rly elevated the dish and made it creamier but the bread was super flavorful brooklyn dodger 10/10: THIS WAS SOO FRESH!!! it was like an elevated margherita pizza but soo much better and we were surprised by how much we enjoyed this...it was garlicky and had good portions of basil and oregano and the crust was PERFF esp when u dip it into the chili aioli spicy fusili 100/10: their spicy vodka pasta is so yummy i literally scraped up all of the sauce remnants and couldnt get enough of it....it's simple but the pasta is cooked perfectly and the sauce isn't too tomato-y but still creamy and delicious dang my stomach is grumbling rn chili aioli 193782/10: i think this is my first time trying chili aioli? but i feel like they put crack in it or smthn cos it was SO GOOD i had to give it its own review....i dipped it in EVERYTHING it was so tangy and salty and yummy and flavorful i need to try and make my own IT IS SCRUMPTIOUSSS

Stopped in for lunch after shopping at a nearby store who recommended Jon & Vinny's. We asked the waiter for his recommendations and went with a variety of dishes to share. Food was excellent and the service was quick.
TLDR: 3.
75/5 - From being the hot new place to go to in LA to being overhyped I'd put my experience solid in the middle. I see where both sides are coming from. Food Bruschetta w cheese and tomato - 4/5 I mean its bruschetta and they didn't do much with it. The flavors complement each other way better with the loaded amount of cheese they put on. Good tip: Let the bread rest for a minute to get the tomato and oil juices in the bread. Otherwise, I wouldn't order based on the price alone but the flavors are there. Ham and Eazy - 4/5 I thought it was good. Pretty thin crust, nice mellow heat. Definitely too small for 3 people but it was good. Spicy Fusillini - 3/5 I don't think it was really quite spicy at all but it was just fine. Nothing to write home about. The pasta was fresh for sure and sauce was delicate. It wasn't a heavy pasta though so that could be good for people who are sharing. I'm just tripping on the price really. Service: 4/5 Perry was amazing. His energy was fantastic or at least it worked for me, other people might've been put off by it but I was just matching him. Perry if you see this, this is the only reason why I asked for your name I swear and you had every right to ask me for mine in return. Ambiance: 3/5 I feel like you have to work to be here: Fairfax location? Good luck parking sucks. Reservation? A must. A booth? Fat chance. Need to see the menu? That's what the flashlight on your phone is phone. I'm exhausted. Tip: If you're coming in and there's a torrential historical downpour don't sit at the bar (not that i did) but that draft did not look very nice from my pov.
Great food and service.
The entire menu is overpriced and I don't think the value is good. The interior is not ideal for dining and has a cramped feeling.
Breakfast review! The music and natural lighting were great
Breakfast review! The music and natural lighting were great and pretty low key. As for the service, our server (s) were pretty quick and helpful with food suggestions. Also the bathrooms were fun lol once you go in (I think there's built-in speakers connected) it feels like your own little party there. It is on the pricier side I will say, like actually pricy.. but I'd love to come here again to try their pasta
Don't eat here.
Food is overpriced crap and they tack on 40% to your bill if you include tip, 20% "service fee" (aka we pay our staff like shit so here's this extra fee to give them fair wages) it's insane. Typical LA out of touch with reality restaurant.
Delicious dinner.
Pizza was amazing pasta was soo good. Wish they expanded to other states!!!
Food is good but unfortunately the owners are thieves.
Besides the 20% tip, now they expect you to pay for their labor as well by adding an 18% service charge (which does NOT count as tip) to your tab as well. So not only is the food already overpriced but between the fees and taxes, 50% is added to your total tab. We had 2 pastas and an small salad for $120. Greedy, greedy and as a restauranteur myself, it is FAR from hospitable to charge your guests for overhead you don't want to pay for yourself. Service was also subpar. Go spend your money elsewhere.
We had lunch at a trendy restaurant on Fairfax.
Fortunately, we had made online reservations, as there was a brief waitlist. The cuisine was of high quality, with portions suitable for sharing. There were many excellent dishes to choose from. The service was exceptionally friendly and professional. The staff was cheerful and attentive. The restaurant is very clean. The bathrooms are well maintained. We were so full after lunch I would gladly return to this establishment.
Good food and service. Sketchy part of town
Food and service were great. Itโs right on the edge of the hood so we didnโt feel super safe walking there from our hotel Our server was great and his recommendations were spot on Didnโt love the 18% sur charge but I guess thatโs the price we pay for Californiaโs minimum wage We had gem lettuce salad and polenta bolognese. Both were good
Watch out for the 18% surcharge!
I'm really torn because the food was GREAT...but we all just cannot get the bad taste out of our mouths for the 18% surcharge on our bill for the staff. They made it clear it wasn't going to the workers as a tip but as a help with cost of living for staff. My question is...why not just charge 18% more for the food! The service and food was outstanding but sadly we won't go back because of this (plus I didn't see it listed anywhere on their website or menus when we dined...maybe it's in some small print somewhere but a negative surprise for us. Sadly, we won't be back.
Meatballs!!!!
Really enjoyed the fusilli and the margherita pizza was great. The kind of spot I wish I lived right around the corner from!
Pasta to die for
The food at this restaurant is excellent. Fresh, top notch ingredients perfectly executed. Try the vodka pasta for sure. Plus one version of the excellent bruschetta. There is a wine shop, Helenโs, which supplies the wine for the restaurant and you can also go in and buy your own to drink with your meal. Selection is wonderfully eclectic. Service is very good. A few gripes. There is a bit of an in and out culture which detracts from the atmosphere and one feels slightly pushed along. There is also a slight diner approach which does not sit well with the costing of the menu for which you would expect some greater refinement. Also, the mandatory 18% staff charge on top of which service is also expected means the cost bulks up considerably. However, the food does trump these issues .
Super casual but super good
I donโt want to get over-excited but I think I might have discovered my ideal restaurant. Great pizza, out-of-the-park pasta (the cavatelli with fennel sausage is dynamite), great wines - a little shop in the back stuffed with grower champagne and things from Roagna and Roulot and the like - and great tunes. Sadly Iโm a 10 hour flight away most of the time but perhaps the restaurateurs of my home town could learn a thing or two.

I truly love this place the atmosphere is so cool and the penny alla vodka is fantastic prices are actually very high but I like to spoil myself here every so often to get great authentic Italian food
This is the review for their food to go.
We got the sausage pizza and the pasta fusilli. The pizza was a good size, but the pasta isn't enough. You need a pasta and something else for it to be filling. Made that mistake. Otherwise, it is packaged well and food was good to go.
I just went 03/08 and had a blast.
My girlfriend and I always start with the golden standard - The Cheese Pizza. We were not disappointed! The service was not the quickest but it was fine. Their staff was very professional and polite, everyone treats me better when I rock the hawaiian T! The ZA was pretty good, not too greasy, the cheese was not my favorite, but it's far from being bad. I prefer gooey and chewey, this was a little on the firm side and not a lot of give. The sauce is probably what stood out the most. Very rich and balanced the salty cheese. The bread could have been baked longer and crispier but I always feel weird asking for a well done pizza... Anyway, great spot, top 10 in the valley so far! Message me if you know a better pizzaaaaa!
Great place for good Italian food and a cool vibe.

I hate to say it cause I feel like everyone loves Jon & Vinny's but it's overrated the food is meh-especially for the price. The pizza is a little burnt & pasta tastes like canned raviolis lol.. I will say service gets a 5/5 - very nice staff always

GET READY - for an ambush 18% service charge at the end of your meal, after which they have the despicable rudeness to suggest your additional tip calculation of the total INCLUDING THAT 18% charge. So we should tip basically 40% of the meal? F**K Jon and F**K Vinnie. Shame on you guys.Oh and your musical choices are REPUGNANT. We're sitting there eating and have to listen to blaring music about beating up pu**ies, jerking off d*icks and Cardi Bs vag. You guys are disgusting.
The front service girls are rude and not friendly.
Place was dirty. Not recommend anyone eat here.
Very bad service and unfriendly staff.
I do not recommend this business. The location is disappointing as we are cramped with no space. If you decide to come and eat there, make sure you call a day or two in advance.

The food is honestly nothing special especially for the price. It's kind of mid. The service was great I will admit but that was the best part.

Came here for lunch without a reservation on a Thursday for a party of 6 and was promptly seated. We could have definitely benefited for a larger table but was grateful for the accommodating service! Our waitress was so sweet and helpful! We ordered calamari and meatballs for the table - the calamari was perfectly crispy and seasoned and the meatballs were good (though I wish I knew the order only came with 2 meatballs!). We also shared 2 pizzas (6 slices each) - the white lightning and the Roman gladiator, both which were great, especially if you like thin crust pizza. The cheeses was definitely the star of the pizza! We also tried a few pastas - I got the spaghetti limone which was so delicious. I loved the light cream sauce, the crunchy breadcrumbs and the chewiness of the Al dente pasta. My friends also enjoyed their cacio e Pepe and spicy fusilli pastas. The portion sizes were perfect for the 6 of us, which is great because we love eating family style. Ambiance was nice, a little loud but not so much that we couldn't have a conversation. Would definitely recommend visiting when in LA!
Cost > Quality
Last visited at the original in 2016 Jon & Vinny's has since spawned three siblings, the location at Slauson also acting as home to a Wine Shop though for most it is the Italian Food and Pastries that remain a draw. Open from 8:00am daily, the guys behind Animal and Son of a Gun a known entity including the Restaurantโs narrow footprint with loud music, it was as the door unlocked that two guests were seated at a booth where service proved accommodating. Still adding autograt that isnโt gratuity, a polarizing policy atop prices that only fly in a city like Los Angeles, it was mere moments before Coffee was poured alongside an Apple Fritter and Ricotta Toast, the weekend-only former light and oilless but far smaller than its pricepoint suggests. Moving on to the proper Breakfast menu, one โentree,โ spicy โNduja and a side of Crispy Smashed Potatoes rife with Pepper and Parm selected, Carbonara performs well thanks to good Pancetta plus Noodles cooked al dente and a generous amount of Egg Yolk. Not a morning meal for the thrifty at $130 all-in, Cookies from the pastry case are across-the-board impressive, Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter all what one might expect while $2-per-bite Rainbow Cake and $12.75 Bread Pudding are skewed to the left in terms of cost versus quality.
Bad seating experience
I'd like to start off by saying that the food and our waiter Evan were wonderful. Everything came out quickly and tasted great, and Evan was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. However, I am unlikely to come back because of how rude the hostess was. I originally made a reservation for 5 people, but we had a last minute change of plans and ended up having a party of 6. I didn't think this would be too much of an issue because usually when you seat a table for 5, there's 3 people on one side and 2 people on the other - it shouldn't be a big jump to then seat 3 people on each side. Regardless, I wanted to call and double check if this would be an issue. I explained this to the woman on the phone, but she told me that upping our party to 6 people from 5 would not be possible, as there was no capacity. She then asked if I wanted to cancel the reservation and wait, but she wouldn't be able to give me a wait time. I told her no worries, I'd still like to keep our existing reservation. We arrived at the restaurant and I told the hostess that we had a reservation for 5 people, but would it be alright if we had 6 people instead. The woman (whose name I believe is Aysia, as she was wearing a necklace saying that) looked at me and very aggressively said "You already called and I already told you that we don't have capacity. You can wait in line or stick with 5 people, but I can't give you a wait time either. What do you want to do?" I was taken aback by her attitude. We decided to wait but were already making plans to eat somewhere else. Additionally, the restaurant was half empty and as we were waiting, we saw Aysia seat a party of 2 at a booth that could have easily fit 6 people. We made one last effort to ask for accommodation, and a kind gentleman quickly told us it wouldn't be an issue at all since, in his words, "We can easily seat 3 people on each side. I'm not sure why [Aysia] told you we don't have room." In all, this experience left a bad impression on us. Even if it was truly impossible to sit 3 people on each side of a table we already had reserved, the manner in which Aysia spoke to us was entirely unacceptable. I understand last minute changes to a reservation can impact the flow of the restaurant, and I would have been completely okay with being denied accommodation had Aysia been less rude. In all, I would not return here and would not recommend this place to others
Best Italian food ever (at least outside of Italy)
First, you must call for reservations as this is a small restaurant. There is some cozy seating outside, but when we went it was too cold to sit outside. The food was outstanding, from the salad to the pasta to the eggplant parmesan. It is served family style, so we all got to sample every dish. It was scrumptuous. The only negative was the noise level; the crowd plus the lous music made conversation very difficult. But, we were so busy eating it wasn't a major problem.
So good
I would have ranked this a 5, but they did not tell us in advance that they add an 18% service charge. (Not on website either). This is not a gratuity, but so they can pay their workers a living wage. Living in LA, I am accustomed to service charges, but not 18%. As I write this, the more outraged I get. When your prices are already so much higher, I donโt think itโs the customers responsibility to pay your worker. The restaurant is more than capable. I wonder if the 18% has something to do with the Brentwood location. Now, the food was delicious and the service was too. I am very torn about coming back.
Amazing Italian with LA Vibes
My dinner at Jon & Vinny's was the best during my trip to LA. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, wish I could try it all! It definitely is sceney, had very LA vibes. Know that you have to make reservations a couple of weeks in advance, even for during the week. The peach burrata, which the waiter recommended because it was in season, was amazing. I then had the polenta Bolognese which was delicious, ate every bite. I was too full for a full dessert but wanted something so had the pistachio wedding cookies which were so light & melted in my mouth. The service charge/tip thing is indeed a bit confusing, if the food wasn't amazing it would've bothered me more.
