Fully deserves all the accolades
An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in I felt comfortable even though dining solo. All of the servers/staff were incredibly friendly and spoke perfect English. Every bite was at least very good and some dishes were incredible. Ice cream sandwich with toasted seaweed, frozen rice pudding and caviar anyone? (it works!). Wine flight wines all delicious, well matched and generously poured. Well worth the money.
Exceptional, creative experience
We loved our dining experience at Mont Bar and cannot wait to go back. The staff are very friendly and made us feel like family. The decor felt sophisticated and relevant. The food was creative, high quality and very tasty. Attending a Michelin rated restaurant, for us, is always an exciting experience. We look for places with welcoming and friendly staff who serve high quality ingredients worth the price point and present courses that are creative and sometimes surprise us. Mont Bar checked every single box and was amazing! Beyond 5 stars!!
Expected better
So disappointed in our visit to Mont Bar. We arrived 10 minutes early and were abruptly told to wait outside. We were ushered to our table, which was a share table, with no explanation. The food was nice, however the service was sub par. Once we decided to order from the A La Carte menu, any form of attentiveness disappeared.
Work to be done !
Whilst the food was good, my constructive feedback relates to 2 key aspects being when we were greeted albeit some 10 minutes before our booking, we were told rather abruptly to wait … my experience around the world is you would be welcomed more warmly & an early drink be offered. The other item related to 1 of our party who had dietary restrictions which had been communicated in detail some days prior… this critical aspect was overlooked by the wait staff until I raised it.. the standard I have observed globally are other menu alternatives are offered which obviously was not part of the Mont Bar playbook, which we found surprising.
I would give a 6th star if it was possible !
Our best dining in Barcelona! I have rarely seen such a friendly restaurant and yet very professional. We arrived 10 minutes earlier and we were kindly asked to wait in their outdoor sitting area and to our surprise the manager came out with 2 glasses of champagne! The restaurant has a warm very special ambiance with an amazing tasteful musical playlist. I left the best to the end: Food was creative (as one would expect in a michelin starred restaurant), delicious with a magnificent blend of flavors. We didn’t have the tasting menu but the a la carte option. I would recommend the chicken skin and squid canapé and the mochi with Iberian sobrassada and Mahón cheese. The tuna belly, Iberian sucking pig and pigeon were out of this world. For a michelin starred restaurant we did not find it expensive and would highly recommend this restaurant. Our experience was excellent due to the quality of the food and serving in such a friendly environment.
Delectable tasting menu
Quite possibly the finest restaurant experience in Barcelona. From the moment we walked in, the attention to detail was palpable. The service was impeccable. The sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable and the wait staff was so detail orientated, they each knew all there was to know about each tasting they presented. And by wait staff, I mean we were treated by 4 different professions not counting the sommelier. The food was impeccably presented and each bite awakened my taste buds like very few chefs have. This is not my first Michelin star restaurant. If you visit Barcelona, it's a must try if you value culinary masterpieces. Definitely experience the tasting menu along with the wine pairing. You will be blown away!
A bit underwhelming for the price
A good experience but ultimately a little disappointing. This was our big “splurge” meal during our trip to BCN and it didn’t quite meet our expectations. The overall experience and service was nice, the food was pretty good but unfortunately it wasn’t as amazing as I had hoped it would be, especially for the price. Mt favorite things we tried from the tasting menu were the mochi with Iberian sobrasada and mahón cheese and the chickpea and razor clams dish. It was definitely a good experience but didn’t feel like the best value.
Stop what you a re doing and go there!!
These kind of experiences are the reason I LOVE food more than anything else. I‘ve spent my lunch at the mont bar after I missed visiting it in 2022. And what can I say: EVERY. SINGLE. DISH was TRUELY AMAZING! 🥵🥰😍 I‘ve had: - SEA BASS CEVICHE TOAST - BEETROOT, EEL AND CAVIAR - CHICKEN SKIN AND SQUID CANAPE - MOREL, CHEEK AND REIXAGÓ - TUNA BELLY WITH PINE NUT EMULSION - PIGEON COOKED TWO WAYS AND CACAO - RASPBERRY, ROSES, HIBISCUS AND KOKORO TEA Of all thise things, I‘ve enjoyed the chicken skin, morel and tuna belly the most. - The TUNA BELLY - OMG 🤩 - a deliciously smoky tenderness! Thank you for this great food in such a relaxed, yet professional atmosphere. I will definitely come again.
To cut to the chase, Mont Bar is worth the Michelin star.
Also, if you are a little overwhelmed by the formality or theatrics of some Michelin star restaurants, this is a very comfortable option. What I mean by comfortable is that you should feel at ease. Staff and the food are all very approachable. The restaurant is incredibly small, and you are close together, but service is still impeccable. Since this restaurant is well reviewed and overall I did not see any consistent points with which I disagree, I will be brief (for a change) : - O Reviewing my notes, there were a few standout courses but almost everything landed for us. Wine was well married to the courses. The wagyu, foie gras and truffle terrine were both decadent and delicate. The pigeon was a strong, pronounced finish. Also, given our lactose allergies, dessert was extremely well executed. Total price for two tasting menus, wine pairings, one bottle of water, and one coffee was about 580 Euros including an extra 10% cash tip. This was a good value for what you get. This is definitely a meal worth repeating.

I have wanted to try this place for some time now and I'm so glad we went!! We had an amazing meal!! I will definitely come again! We planned on ordering a la carte but decided to try the Classic menu once there. We absolutely loved it!! Service was amazing. I always prefer the food explanations in the native language but as not everyone speaks Spanish fluently, we had them in English, which was nice. The pace was good, we didn't do the drink pairing but were able to order a delicious bottle of wine. The food was tasty and filling. Not sure how often they change up their menu but I would definitely go again. I didn't get photos of everything we ate because it was exciting to try all the new things.

25/10 Visit: July 2024 This past summer, my wife Jun and I traveled to Barcelona for a friend's wedding. Our trip was relatively short at less than a week and the wedding was held in a beach town an hour away from Barcelona, so we ended up spending only a couple of days in the city. This trip also reinforced our perception that Europe, especially in southern countries like Spain and Italy, is now way too hot to visit in the peak summer (we would walk around the city or tour famous spots like Gaudi's Sagrada Familia for like an hour before quickly retreating to our air-conditioned hotel room). That said, we still had a great time in Barcelona and ate quite well. Our first dinner stop in the city was Mont Bar, a gastro bar that had been quietly making a buzz among food-crazed diners before earning its first Michelin star. We had a great time with playful small plates and (more below) an exceptional wine pairing. When I was looking at potential restaurants to visit in Barcelona, I just couldn't find a fine dining institution that really jumped out at me as a place that would offer us a memorable dining experience. I therefore opted to look for perhaps more casual restaurants that would nevertheless offer great food. To that end, Mont Bar fit the profile of what I was looking for, with a casual bar environment that showcases a multi-course experience at a fairly reasonable €155 per person (there is also an a la carte option). A first few bites from the restaurant in the beginning of the course featured some intriguing combinations of ingredients, such as zucchini tempura, beetroot flower with caviar, crispy brioche with pickled foie gras and onion and (most interestingly) mochi with emulsion of Spanish sausage called sobrasada and Mahón cheese. My two favorites from the snack course were the chicken canape with squid in between and a delightful millefeuille of wagyu and foie gras, showing the innovative side of the kitchen's preparations that did not feel overdone. The rest of the savory courses were also whimsical and well-executed, particularly on the seafood side such as the refreshing razor clams with ponzu that one of the chefs prepared right in front of us and stingray (a fish we hadn't tried much before) that came with beurre blanc sauce. A series of desserts that came after our final savory course of pigeon were no less impressive, starting with rice ice cream in nori seaweed that we struggled to hold on to but still enjoyed, followed by dishes like an artsy combination of cherries, roses and caramelized hibiscus leaf. The restaurant's cozy dining space is not particularly large inside so if you are looking to score a prime-time reservation, I would recommend booking in advance on the restaurant's website. What really stood out from our experience at Mont Bar was the wine pairing (at €95 per person). You could certainly choose from a Spain-centric wine list offering a variety of attractive bottles, but if you enjoy wine, I strongly urge you to try the pairing where our sommelier brought an array of really interesting wines, not just from Spain but also from places such as Wachau of Austria, Alsace of France and Emilia-Romagna of Italy. I certainly didn't expect to see a still version of Hungary's famed dessert wine Tokaji! By the time we were finished with our meal, we were both happily tipsy from all the generous pours in the pairing. Despite the casual atmosphere, the professionally dressed service staffs were all very attentive and friendly in a way that would make you feel like you are dining at a top-tier restaurant. This year, Jun and I talked about how perhaps we were getting somewhat tired from all the spectacular fine dining experiences during our culinary journey. In that respect, a dinner at Mont Bar was a very stimulating experience showing us a way to explore the restaurant's high-precision and sophisticated cooking without feeling burdened by what we sometimes see as an overly pretentious (and at times exhausting) formula of caviar and wagyu. And, again, if you are even remotely a casual oenophile, a trip to Mont Bar will make you realize how wonderful the world of wine is.
Where to start! This was probably my best meal in Europe.
Was an experience that everyone should enjoy. Service was amazing! I thought I was back in the states! Everyone was polite and very personable. It is a small place so make sure you book your table far in advance!

Diners are seated within a cozy space with bar seating and high top tables. The food is one masterpiece after another and there is never a dull bite. Service was very attentive as well. The dining experience is worth the time and travel, not to mention, Barcelona is one of the most beautiful European cities.

Fantastic all around! The service was impeccable.
We enjoyed the coursed dinner and 2 people in our party were pescatarian and they were able to honor that by serving a few different dishes for them. Every dish was unique and delicious. There were flavor and texture combinations that were amazing! Some highlights were the "ceviche" which was fish on some sort of corn cracker. For a one bite treat, it packed so many different flavors and textures! The stingray was buttery deliciousness and the razor clams were perfection! The desserts were also special. When my husband and daughter didn't care for a dish, they immediately replaced it with another! This was a memorable and delightful family meal for us!
The best dinners in town
I am coming to Mont Bar for 8 years and became quite addicted to having the dinners here every time I travel to Barcelona. Now, with Michelin recognition (well deserved and my heartfelt congratulations to them!), they haven't become arrogant in their food and continue to amaze with their food. Tiny tapas full of incredibles tastes, main courses full of many taste surprises, wine list you can read like a novel - everything in Mont Bar still makes it the best choice to dine in Barcelona. Reservation well in advance is highly recommended - they are famous now. And rightfully so.
Unforgettable experience
The atmosphere, the staff, the food was all amazing. Everyone is attentive to details and makes you feel comfortable. We chose the tasting menu with wine pairing, and it was the best choice we could make! We had the possibility to taste a wide virety of these special tapas dishes, with a great choice of wine. We had fun, you are doing a great job, please continue this way. Will recommend for sure!

Fine dining in the relaxed atmosphere of a bar
Went solo for lunch on a summer Tuesday. The menu also offers all carte but I want for the tasting menu with the wine pairing. A very informal atmosphere with all superb dishes offered in a snack style format. The wine selected were also amazing. A great experience not to be missed when in a Barcelona. Well deserved its star.

Wonderful cooking in great inviting setting. Service is attentive and friendly. The degustation menu was fantastic. We had so many small different flavors and different styles yet all together bringing great harmony. We will definitely come back here and I strongly recommend it.

Perfectly cooked and presented food with staff who are helpful and friendly wanting to make the whole experience eleven better The choice of dishes allows a set menu or to cherry pick a la carte . We did the latter and weren’t disappointed, with enough food without feeling too stretched . The menu offers a range of single bites and tapas styles to share . It has a seafood bias but offers an intensely flavoured suckling pick with Asian flavoured light crispy skin as a larger tapa , just one example of using Asian nuances to enhance the wonderful local ingredients The wine choice is wide ranging but offers some great value and very good options by the glass that allows the sommelier to help you get the most from the meal The atmosphere takes a sophisticated wine bar and adds spacious tables as well as bar seating - either is good , and outdoors is protected from the traffic and the weather A meal that combines great Spanish ingredients with sophisticated flavours and artful presentation- one to travel to and book ahead

My husband and I were gifted the tasting meal by our daughter and her fiancé. Every dish that came out was unique, beautifully plated, and full of robust flavors. The service was impeccable. We had the honor of meeting the owner who spent the evening making sure everyone was enjoying their meal. The warm hospitality we received made the evening even more magical. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Spectacular
Everything was perfect. Food, service, wines, atmosphere. We were seated at the bar and it's the best spot to get a full experience. Every staff member was very competent, friendly and just a delight to talk to. Food comes out very fast, so you can enjoy the culinary journey without long breaks. Kitchen did accommodate one of my allergies and altered the petits fours, which was a very pleasant surprise. The place is rather pricey, of course, but it's worth every euro spent.

Mont Bar is a high-end wine bar with innovative tapas.
The dishes never came out exactly as I had expected from reading the descriptions on the menu, and I mean that in a positive way. There were some really interesting flavor combinations, like mochi + sobrasada (similar to a salami) and pumpkin + goat cheese. Overall, I think the smaller appetizers and desserts were better than the bigger appetizers and entrees. There was a green peas dish that was very salty and the tuna belly had a weird rubbery texture (1 star off). For the entree, we got the Iberian suckling pig, but it was kind of like basic pulled pork with a crispy skin -- not as innovative as the rest of the dishes. Even though most of the dishes were small, they were pretty filling altogether. The staff is very fast with bringing out and clearing the dishes. We finished our meal and three glasses of wine in two hours, which is fast for Spain. They also open as early as 7PM for dinner...for those Americans who just cannot stomach the Spanish dinner time.

A bar in disguise
MONT BAR is a very small place with the community feeling, long sharing table and sits at the bar counter or hight table. Beside the look with very good wine bottles hanging everywhere the show is when food comes on the table. What the heck, definitely a wonderful experience packed with flavors and Entertainment beautifully performed by their waiting stuff. Davide guide us to best wine pairing and waitress Gothia if I remember well the name, explained every dish, both made our experience even better with their guidance.
Had a great dinner here last night.
We were running a bit late and the restaurant was very gracious about it. We started with two glasses of cava and ordered a number of items from the a la carte menu. The highlights for us were the ceviche, jalapeño corn bites, pigeon, suckling pig and pumpkin dessert. The sommelier also recommended a very good bottle of wine that we hadn't tried before. Overall great experience without being stuffy as a number of places like it can be. We will be back as it was great for date night (lovely enough to be fun and not too loud where you can't have a conversation) and it could also be great for a private event given the layout of the space.

abit fussy..... Expensive but all in all..worth it.. My only problem was that it was very loud (street sounds/cars/sirens, plus) .. and I asked to be seated inside. The head waiter paused.... and said there were no seats inside. Not true! I think he was saving these for regulars... when you reserve.. consider explicitly asking for an indoor table.. it was way too load.. and hot outside!

On the tasting menu, the appetizers were excellent, but the two mains were weak, especially the Catalan-inspired dish. The chocolate dessert was amazing, but the others were weaker. Probably wouldn't come back. Service and ambiance were fine.

For our first night in Barcelona we choose to dine at this Michelin stared restaurant & wine bar and immerse ourselves fully in the experience by ordering the 17 course tasting menu. The sommelier was kind enough to pair several white wines with our meal based on our taste. The restaurant itself is small & a bit dimly lite but it made for a cozy & warm evening. We were blown away by not just the food which was inventive & delightful but also the level of execution & impeccable service.
Watch for bait and switch when ordering wine
We ate here for the first time and really loved the food. It is extremely creative and well executed. However, when the bill arrived we were shocked and disappointed. We had taken the last available reservation, which was at 21.45. When we arrived, the table wasn't ready and we were asked to wait. The maître d' offered to help us choose a glass of wine to sip while we waited. We took his recommendation on a glass of red. When we were seated at almost 20h, we were told we would need to order quickly because the kitchen was about to close. We chose a 36 euro bottle of red from the wine list. The maître d' pointed out that this was a white, but that he had the same in red. We agreed. When the bill arrived, the two glasses we had had while waiting were 17 euros each. A shocking amount for a glass of wine in Barcelona, but of course we hadn't asked the price. However, the bottle that we were served was 64 euros, more than twice the price of the white I had pointed to. Our bill totaled 225 and wine was almost half of it. I am not cheap, but it is unacceptable to substitute a bottle that is more than twice as much when you know your customer's price range, without informing them that you are about to do so. The table service in general was excellent and when we expressed our disappointment to our server she brought us a lovely brandy to sip even though we insisted it wasn't necessary. While the food was excellent, the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouth, which is really unfortunate and was totally avoidable.
