Ohjah Japanese Steakhouse 239 N Pecos Rd Henderson, NV 89074 United States Las Vegas Reviews
Food is great.
Honestly I have never had a bad meal from the sushi to the steak! Service on the other hand is hit or miss. This last time was the worst. Some food items there before drinks. Waitress didn't return for a large chunk of time. Tip - sit at hibachi table, bar or sushi bar for the best help.
Food is always good.
Kids love the teppenyaki grill and catching the shrimp in their mouths.

This 4 star review is for ppl to have an idea what was offered in the restaurant.. However 2-3 is my real opinion. The ingredients are not up to satisfactory; poor seasoning ingredients were used and the starter salad was drenched in dressing. The chef was entertaining, however when an add-on egg of easy over easy or sunny side up was ordered for my air fry rice, I got some scrambled egg.... The course order of teppanyaki is strange: rice first, then your protein of choice, and then your vegetable. By the way, the chef only cracked one little egg (not even AA grade) for the stir fry rice for 3 entrees. This is why I ordered an add-on egg. The deluxe sushi on menu was unsatisfactory and not sashimi-like correctness- portion of salmon served was about 3cm x 4cm ( less than 1"x2"), as half size of a single regular piece from any Japanese Izakaya. Sashimi was fresh yet flavorless. I understood we came in late at 8:30pm in Vegas time however we finished eating as soon as we can because we caught early flight into Vegas to see afternoon shows. However when we were having the stir fry veggies (last course), Chef was scrubbing the teppanyaki station in front of us- I saw water being poured and steamed off,, surface being scrubbed with a green bottle detergent without bubbles (otherwise it will be more gross). I suspect the mindset of running business from the owner is not like other Japanese teppanyaki restauranteurs. I really wished my husband had not got to know this restaurant from instagram influencers to begin with. Sigh......

The food and service were excellent! Highly recommend the hibachi lobster tail and filet mignon add on. For something different I ordered noodles instead of fried rice and was pleasantly surprised. The crispy shrimp was fabulous!! The Chef was friendly and the restaurant was spacious with that authentic Japanese style decor. Will be back!
Food and service are always great.
I love the chef's performance and how much they keep you engaged.
Ohjah Japanese Steakhouse
Wonderful experience. Ohjah takes reservations. Has Teppen Grill as well as tables. We had Teppen. Show by Chef was fun and light. Engaging. I eat low salt and he was careful to keep my share separate, but inclusive. Delicious. Reasonably priced. Free parking.

First time at this restaurant and it was so good!! We made a reservation and got in right away. It was also my first time trying this experience. I thought the price was good. The food was so tasty.. The portions are a good size and we also got some appetizers, calamari wasn't good at all, flavorless. I'll definitely add you in my list when I go back to Vegas..

Food was great but our chef did the habachi fast in under 10 mins and then left. Service from our waitress was spot on perfect though just wish our chef actually did a show for us.

We had family from out-of-town who wanted to try this location. One of our family member's order steak and chicken and did not get the NYSteak. The chef knew the kids were scared of the fire, so he decided to make a big flame twice. The good portions are kind of small compared to Benihana's.

Great service and food delivery, very clean restaurant , friendly staff. I enjoyed the lobster !
Disappointing
Hibachi 3 item com was $39.95. Chicken was dry, beef was tender. Wasabi was dry and gritty tasting. Girlfriend enjoyed the Fried noodles and california roll. But overall was disappointed. Overpriced.

Our first time trying this place and enjoyed the flavorful food. Easy to get a last minute reservation and the customer service pleasant.
We came in for dinner tonight for my grandmas 70th birthday.
We had such a great experience and had a lot of fun thanks to our hibachi cook! His name on his chef hat was "Bradda Pitt" lol! He was very fun and positive and after getting to know him, he is a good soul. The food was delicious and very fresh! Definitely coming back!
We had a nice dinner for Mothers Day.
We had reservation and arrived a little early. They accommodated the 6 of us right away. We found the prices reasonable and the chef very entertaining. We will be back.
We did a Mother's Day late lunch with my mom.
With a party of 11, we are limited on choices on a special day like Mother's Day. It wasn't busy at 1pm. When we were leaving it started picking up. It starts off with salad and soup. My son didn't eat his salad so I ate it. I can't speak on the dressing but it's a light sesame dressing but it's yummy. I tried filling up on salad instead of all rice lol. After appetizers, rice and veggies get cooked. The rice is garlicky with soy sauce. Just the way we make it home. It's delicious. You could get noodles instead. But trust me the rice is phenomenal. Then all the meat gets cooked. I ordered the combo with medium rare filet mignon, scallops and shrimp. All were delicious. I made the mistake of eating all the rice before the meat got cooked. I wasn't making the same mistake twice. Slow down and enjoy the show. I saw a bar in the background. I don't know what kind of liquors they had. I was enjoying the show. It was my 3 son's first time and they had a blast. I failed to record their facial expressions when the chef first lit the grill on fire. Insjde is loud. All the chef's do a wonderful job on entertaining all the customers. We been to Ohjah a couple times and they never disappoint. Thank you Ohjah!
I have been coming here for quite some time to celebrate
I have been coming here for quite some time to celebrate birthdays and graduations but this employee in particular really went above and beyond. He goes by the name of Bruddah Pitt. He told us stories as he moved here from Maui, Hawaii because his hometown burned down. I can really tell he loves the way he treats his customers. He has made a great sacrifice to get here and he kept telling us how practices hibachi when he gets home to get better. It felt inspiring and it made me feel good knowing there is someone out there who cares that much. Please give him all the praise he deserves as I hope he does well in all his life.
Salty food.
Rude waitresses. Shaking head showing how she can treat the customer. Paid $250. But food was not worth the taste. I brought my friends and family here but everyone got disappointed. I do not recommend again.

Waitress is not friendly, she was upset that we only ordered 4 Hibachi dinner and just side order for kids. The chef assigned didn't cook well.. everything is salty and pathetic.. we paid 250$ in all for this pathetic food.
Very delicious food, so much better when it's cooked fresh
Very delicious food, so much better when it's cooked fresh in front of you. The cooks are so funny, I go here all the time and if you ever get the chance you should too!
I have dine twice here the 1st time the chef was ok.
. He forget to serve us all the sauce & added way too much garlic in the food.. The 2nd time they made my food without all the garlic.. The chef seemed really lost .. kept leaving the table to get stuff.. it took forever for everyone to have their food cooked.. My experience was ok.. nothing outstanding.. for the price..I expected more..
Consistently great food, fast efficient service.
A nice place to gather with with friends & family.
Perfection!
We started picking up food for two. Not only was the food always ready when we arrived, but it was hot and so perfectly prepared. We are always treated with the same polite care we see being given to the people eating/partying inside their restaurant. We order to pickup at least once a week and the portions are so generous, we have left overs for the next night, too. Want great food and service at a reasonable price? My friend and I tried a Chicken Katsu dinner and a Chicken
My friend and I tried a Chicken Katsu dinner and a Chicken Teriyaki dinner. There was a good amount of meat - 2 layers, and both were delicious. The Katsu was a perfect golden brown. Four thumbs up (two people) !! The meat felt a little chewy for some reason however. We really appreciated that the Katsu sauce was on the side. I was hoping the Chicken Teriyaki would have had a more grilled flavor, but the sauce was good - pretty authentic. And there was a lot of it. Thank you for that! The salad dresesing was pleasantly a little sweet. The soup was not miso soup - a nice change from most restaurants. It seemed to be an really good tasting onion soup. We ordered take out, so the food came in containers. There was one slice of orange in a part of the container all by itself, and a some carrots and broccoli in another part of the container. This made the container look rather empty. I would recommend that they put the carrots, broccoli, and orange slice together with the rest of the salad, and fill up those othe parts with the rice instead of putting the rice in a separate container. So presentation could definitely be a little better. The restaurant was very spacious with a lot of customers on a Thursday night. It was neat and clean. Very typical teppanyaki style place. Looked like there was a private room for parties also. The staff person at the counter was very nice and friendly. There was ample parking. For the amount of food and the quality of the food, the price is a really good value. Great restaurant!

Best hibachi ever ! We went there tonight as my husband as never experienced hibachi before. We had the best chef. I ordered the chicken, my husband had the NY steak. Both had fried rice. We had chef Joe who is the best chef there!!! We ordered some drinks from the bar as well as some sake. Ohhh yeahhhhhh.

Best chef named Joe!! Highly recommend!! Such a great spot out of all of the Japanese this is the best!!
We were seated, I think, at the same table as last time but
We were seated, I think, at the same table as last time but it didn't fill up so I was able to spread out a bit, which was nice. A lady and I shared the empty seat between us for my jacket and purse, her purse. And, for the first time in three visits, I found a seat which didn't force me to fight a table leg throughout the meal. So I had high hopes for another excellent meal. The Waiter was not the best waiter. Three of us asked for water but he only heard me. He eventually returned with one large water glass for me; the others had to ask twice in order to get water. I started with Tempura Calamari which I shared with my group. The Calamari was tough. I couldn't even bite through it; had to cut it with the side of my fork because, you know, no knives in Asian restaurants. The Calamari was SO tough that it was difficult to cut. We three who tried it, agreed. The Miso Soup was good. Then came the Salad. I get that you guys don't offer knives to diners. BUT because you don't provide diners with knives, YOU NEED TO CUT VEGGIES INTO BITE-SIZED PIECES!!! Why is that so hard to understand? The one thin tomato slice, which was covered in salad dressing, was too big; it needed to be cut in half but I didn't have a knife. The many pieces of lettuce, many of which were drowning in salad dressing, should have been cut to be bite-sized. That's just laziness on the part of the kitchen staff. Knowing you don't provide knives, your kitchen staff should make sure everything is bite-sized. But they didn't, so I got some salad dressing on my blouse. Thanks for that. I appreciate that the Chef didn't flip Shrimp into diner's mouths. I really dislike that waste of food -- food which used to be alive. It often ends up on the floor and then thrown out. Instead, he flipped broccoli pieces. Not to me; I don't do that. His onion stack fire display wasn't as impressive as I remember. And it was nearly impossible to understand anything he said because he wore a mask. I will NEVER deny any employee the right to mask when they feel the need to do so, but it remains a fact that I don't think I understood anything he said; understood or heard. I had the Lobster Tail. I was looking forward to Lobster Tail with butter (or, as the menu said, "margarine.") Really?? Margarine!! That's one of the worst man-made items one can eat. I do hope it was butter, not margarine. What kind of restaurant uses margarine? The Chef had Scallops, Shrimp and Lobster Tail on the grill. Before serving them, he doused them all with teriyaki sauce. I was so disappointed in the Lobster Tail because, instead of tasting lobster in melted butter (which I love and was craving), I could only taste the teriyaki sauce. Hubby ordered steak; I don't remember now if he had the Filet Mignon or the New York Strip. In either case, the Chef way over-cooked it. It was done; it was not medium well. Normally, Hubby will eat every bite of a steak. He left several bites on his plate. I tried one of his leftover bites and didn't enjoy it because it was way over cooked. [Hubby just informed me that the beef was tough, as well.] We enjoyed the threesome at our table. The other positive: It was our friend's turn to pay so, although this experience wasn't excellent, at least it was free. LOL!
Joe was an absolute joy to have cook our food.
He was incredibly funny and kept us entertained the entire time. I frequently come to Ohjah and moving forward, I will only be requesting Joe.

The homie Joe is an eater fr!! Not only is he a great food server he serves cunt on the side .. * serving cunt is good (2023 slang)*
Jo was great.
Fun experience and family friendly. He had high energy and smiled/laugh the whole way through.
There was 3 of us for dinner.
My boyfriend got his food first. It was a long time before our nephew and I got our food. Our nephew ordered spicy beef with a side of fried rice. He got a huge plate with tons of vegetables and only a few pieces of beef. My boyfriend gave him half of his steak to make up for the lack of beef our nephew got. The fried rice tasted like it was soaked in soy sauce. I ordered udon but some how that took the longest to make bc it came last. Everyone else was done eating by the time mine came out. I didn't even finish the udon bc it was mostly Napa cabbage, broccoli, carrots and a ton of uncooked onions. It wasn't that flavorful. I've lived in Japan and have never had any of that in udon. My BF talked to the manager and explained the timing of the food was very bad. And that he didn't feel comfortable paying for a beef plate that hardly had beef. The manager was very apologetic and took the beef plate off the bill and brought us out dessert. Overall, our waitress was very nice as well as the manager. It just felt like the cooks cut a lot of corners when making these dishes and certainly did not time it out well.

I have been a loyal Ohjah restaurant supporter for years, however each time I go back the service seems to get progressively worse. Hibachi is a unique dining experience in and of itself. Part of that experience is impeccable service. This is the part that has continually declined in my opinion. Super slow to get refills on drinks, cocktails that take forever to get, have to ask several times for wasabi, servers noticing the soy sauce is low and put off about getting you more, and an overall sense of disregard for taking care of the patrons. The Hibachi Chefs are hit or miss as well. Some have great personalities and are awesome, while others are as boring as watching turtles race on a Sunday afternoon! The price isn't cheap at this restaurant and I don't have a problem with paying top dollar for a great meal. I draw the line when the service doesn't match the money I am paying. What's baffling to me is if serving tables for a living isn't your cup of tea, then go do something else. Pretty simple. Foods good, quality of food is mostly there, but the service is severely lacking. What makes it worse, is the attitude that comes along with asking for something at Ohjah. I used to highly recommend this place, but not sure I would anymore. #bebetter!
Good food and entertainment.
Depending on the chef your food can either be well done or to salty. However this place is great and better prices than Beni ..
Great experience.
Food was great but small portions! Would recommend for a bunch of 80 year olds with small appetites!

We walked in at 9 PM and the restaurant was posted to close at 10. The waitress checked her watch 3 times while seating us and was rushing us to make decisions.. stating everything was "last call".The food was just okay. We had hibachi steak and the plating was rushed and sloppy. We will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.
Do not eat here.
We just left... I made a reservation for 6:30, the person that took my reservation put it in for 6:00. Ok- I understand mistakes happen but they didn't even try to accommodate us. We had a large party with children excited to see dinner made. The guy wouldn't even try to help to call another location for us to eat. It was handled very unprofessional. We have eaten here numerous times, but unfortunately this will be the last attempt there. poor customer service all around.

Loved the ambiance.
The food was decent. They give u lots of shrimp too! The teppanyaki guy we had was very entertaining. The restaurant host & hostess were wonderful. Pretty cool. The sushi was really great also. The calamari was not the best. The sticks were huge

Came across this place by accident while we were visiting Las Vegas and it did not disappoint! Totally recommend .
Chef was great! But food quality was horrible.
I don't usually eat at this location but we decided to try it. Completely disappointed and if you need service this place has no cell service at all not even wifi.
Family grill experience
We had booked but had to wait while they cleared a table. Love seeing the food grilled in front of you but guess experience could be spoiled when you have to share with another strange family. Loved the soup and salad. Boys loved the steak but the chicken was over cooked. Shrimp were good but as that was my order, I resented seeing them being wasted by tossing into other guests mouths. Our chef was a bit off his game that night, so his showmanship was going wrong. His sharing out also wasn’t quite fair, so if you are seated with strangers bit off putting when they getting larger helpings. Friendly service overall, good food.
