Osteria Da Fortunata - Bologna Reviews
Nice pasta place but they are charging you for a bit of theatre.
People queueing every night for this place we thought we would give it a try. It does mainly pasta, which is cleverly being made by pasta making women in the front window….. both the queuing and the live pasta making show helping to draw in the punters. The prices reflect the theatre being more pricey than other restaurants for both food and drink. However, the pasta is fresh and delicious. The Ragu actually reminded me of my mums (Italian) recipe which I always ask for when visiting . My score is basically down to the fact that it took 45 mins to serve us two places of fresh pasta which takes a few mins to cook ! Plus the prices are inflated.
Dissatisfied…
We really wanted to like this place, but the experience was honestly disappointing. I ordered pesto pasta and my sister ordered ravioli. The ravioli portion was tiny, not filling at all, and really overpriced for what it was. The pesto pasta came undercooked, so we asked the waiter if it could be changed. He offered another option (cacio e pepe), which was fine—but it arrived without any cutlery. When we asked for a fork, instead of apologizing, the waiter sarcastically asked if we “didn’t like this one either.” Not exactly the kind of service you hope for. On top of that, the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other or even FaceTiming around the restaurant than actually paying attention to guests. At the end, we had to go pay at the counter, and they still charged for service—which felt unfair given how careless it all was. To make matters worse, the waiter actually brought my unfinished plate to the counter and asked if I didn’t like it. Just unnecessary. The food itself was okay at best, but the portions, attitude, and atmosphere left a bad taste. Bologna has so many wonderful trattorias and osterias—sadly, this one didn’t live up to expectations.

We visited a restaurant in Bologna on 8/9/25. We had pasta Bolognese and pesto, and for dessert tiramisu, all the food was excellent and in impressive quantity. We received amazing service from a waiter named NINO who was very kind and nice. Highly recommend the place!
Don’t even try!
Worst pasta ever. Should be forbidden to serve food like this. The cook obviously does not taste what he serves. TikTok hype. Just skip this restaurant.
Good pasta but they don’t like English people
Good pasta, OK price. Would advise that they do make fun of you for being English, even if you are with an Italian speaking friend. Got the carbonara and it was good but wish I had ordered the bolognese. My bad.
10/10
Nino offered great service on 24/08/2025. Food was honestly a 10/10 and we felt very much at home. Would absolutely come here again.
