Pepp & Dolores Cincinnati Reviews
It was ok.
Limone pasta was excellent but everything else we had was just ok. Lobster pasta was a bit odd in shape and taste. Also, they charge you for bread which for me should be included at an Italian restaurant. Also the portion size is pretty small, we both left a bit hungry. Overall not bad but not deserving of more than a 3 rating.
Great menu, tastes of high quality food with fresh
Great menu, tastes of high quality food with fresh ingredients. Prices are fairly low for most pasta dishes, but the portions are also small. Bread is served as a paid appetizer only. While delicious, three rolls were essentially $9 or thereabout. They were delicious, but I am a fan of some things being included. Again, because of their overall reasonable prices in a day and age were everyone is charging maximum amounts for the basics, I can let this slide. Greens are served in sauce and taste more like soup. Service was excellent, and our table was clean and comfortable. We got lucky with only a short wait, but reservations are strongly advised.
First time here and we will definitely be back.
We were seated right on time for our reservation with Garrett. He was very friendly and efficient. He offered several suggestions. We started with the broccolini and homemade ricotta. Both were great starts! We also had the limone pasta and spicy vodka pasta. The restaurant was very clean with a comfortable atmosphere!
Server was very good.
Knowledgeable but not pretentious. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately we sat next to 8 girls that were cackling so loud my watch went off for decibel warning.

Pepp is monthly staple for us! The food is always super consistent, all of the pastas are really good! We generally start with the Ricotta and then get either the Gricia or Pomodoro! (Pro-Tip - you can substitute any noodle with any sauce) We've always had great service from the wait staff and love sitting downstairs if possible! It has a great moody vibe down there!

Everything about Pepp is stunning - the food made from scratch, the wide variety of menu options (and I'm vegetarian!), the service, and the cocktails. Our server Patrick was funny and attentive, and the manager Kyle stopped by to give us recommendations and tell us about some of the best wine pairings on the list for our food. We had a delicious meal, with the cucumbers & ricotta being a favorite app, an elevated pesto pasta with just the right amount of lemon, and broccolini that was perfectly roasted. I tried a new cocktail, the Lambrusco spritz, which was an awesome spin on an aperol spritz that I really enjoyed. I would come back here every week if I could!
My husband and I were visiting downtown Cincinnati and
My husband and I were visiting downtown Cincinnati and looking for somewhere new to dine. That's when we discovered Pepp & Dolores on Yelp. They were crazy busy, and it's easy to understand why. First, it's located on Vine Street, near several fun and unique shops. I also loved that they offered both indoor and outdoor seating. And the staff was really friendly. For starters, we shared the Housemade Ricotta, then each ordered a salad. My husband ordered the Wedge, and I ordered the Gem. Both were so good!! For our entrees, I ordered the Pesto pasta, and my husband ordered The Sunday Sauce. The pasta itself is handmade, as well as the sauces on each dish. The dish sizes were perfect, not too small and not crazy large. Both pastas were excellent and quite flavorful. At the end of the meal, we received a couple of biscotti cookies, which was a nice surprise. Our service was quick and delivered with a smile. My only minor complaint is that the carafe of water they bring to the table was warm. It would have been nice if the water had ice in it. I highly recommend that you give Pepp & Dolores a try the next time you're downtown. It's also a good idea to go onto their website first and make a reservation.
Pasta was so yummy and flavorful.
Just wish they served complimentary bread bc after all it is an Italian restaurant.
TLDR: portions are small, but the food is delicious.
As some context, my family of four decided to come to Pepp & Dolores for a birthday dinner. We had a reservation, which was definitely necessary as it was super busy at dinner time. We are all vegetarian and like doing family style, which the restaurant definitely accommodated and had a lot of options. The food was delicious, but definitely small portions and a bit expensive for a family of four. I would recommend coming in for their wine options and maybe a casual dinner rather than traditional dinner.
5 stars for this wonderful, well priced, exceptional
5 stars for this wonderful, well priced, exceptional quality and service establishment. We visited on a Thursday evening around 6:30 PM without a reservation. The hostess was so kind and found us a table outside, which ended up being perfect for a Midwest summer evening. We share the charcuterie platter with this wonderful fried pizza dough. I had a fantastic glass of Cabernet along with my pasta. Our server Aaron was top-notch, so attentive and never missed a beat! the menu was priced very well and if I'm ever in Cincinnati again, I can't wait to go again..
The food is amazing and great plates for sharing.
Love the ambiance as well - highly recommend!
The food and service are very good.
But I do think it's overhyped. It's good, but not as good as everyone says it is. And obviously it's very expensive.
The best Italian restaurant downtown.
We have had almost everything on the menu. You can't go wrong here. Hot tip- get the ricotta AND the dunk and mix them together. You're welcome.
this place was a recommended as some of the best, Italian
this place was a recommended as some of the best, Italian food and Cincinnati but we were disappointed. Pasta on the soft side with way too much sauce.
I went to Pepp & Dolores in Cincinnati on last Sunday March
I went to Pepp & Dolores in Cincinnati on last Sunday March 10th. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon downtown Cincinnati. My cousin and I did a day road trip to Cincinnati, we went to a Jazz wine bar, and then came across Italian restaurant right across the street from the wine Jazz bar we were at. We, didn't have no reservation, we waited about 10mins, the place looks small, yet when you're in you'll see the ambiance of the beautiful place. The building is actually old, inside is like a vintage Italian restaurant and I loved the black and white flooring. Our Server Mark very bubbly personality, friendly, professional, and just funny. The Server Mark was very helpful on everything which I ordered for my entrΓ©e their homemade spaghetti, I was allowed to sample a white wine along with an orange wine then I ordered the limencello & tonic I'm no fan tonic at all. My cousin had small dishes of a salad along with meatballs. Now, my spaghetti was very different, I've never had spaghetti made like that before, and what I ordered on the menu was called The Sunday Sauce made with Nonna's red sauce, veal, & pork meatballs, & braised pork shoulders. The meatballs that was in the spaghetti was so tender and so delicious. Lastly, there was another bar downstairs in the basement that more lounge seating, dim lighting, and a more of an intimate feel. Overall, I highly recommend you to checkout either a road trip, or if you're in the Cincinnati area.
The food was good but it seemed like the menu was missing
The food was good but it seemed like the menu was missing some of the traditional favorites you expect when going to an Italian restaurant. Which is totally fine, but my dad and I were both pretty underwhelmed with the dishes we got and with the Ricotta toast appetizer. I feel like I need to give Pepp another try soon because everyone I've talked to seems to love it.
Was in town for the day and had dinner sitting by the bar.
The food came out super quick and the drinks were amazing. Love the cute vibe in the restaurant. Food was very good and came out super quick. Definitely a spot to stop by if you're in the area.
We were so excited to finally get reservations at P&D.
We were so disappointed in our food and service. Our server spoke so fast that no one on our party had any idea what she said. The food was mediocre. There are a number of pricey Italian restaurants in Cincy that are so much better.

We were so excited to dine at Pepp and Dolores The service and atmosphere were first class. We didn't care for the food but it may just not be our thing So other than the food taste, it was a lovely experience We do believe it's only because it's not our thing
Wowowowow! Never not dreaming of Pepp and Delores.
The food, the service, the staff - everything is top notch. House made pastas, cute atmosphere, no notes! 10/10
Great food and drinks; a bit loud
The food was excellent, the sommelier was very good and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun. The music is turned up a bit too loud so everyone is talking loudly and it is a bit of a cacophony, still, we will definitely be going back. FYI - some reviews mention valet parking- there is NO valet parking for Pepp & Delores; you have to find a lot, a garage or on-street parking on your own.
Great Italian homemade pasta and meal
We had a great dining experience. Started with the homemade ricotta and sourdough garlic grilled toast. Then the dunk. Most of our party had the limone and raves about it. Fresh homemade pasta. Excellent sauces and abundant portions plus we all ordered the humongous meatballs. Finished with cookies which we took home because we were full.
Mind Blowing Italian! This is a must visit when in Cincinnati.
Food and service are amazing. I am married to an Italian that loves cook and I have been to Italy. Pepp & Dolores is the best I have had in US and can compete with some of the best pasta houses in northern Italy. The ricotta app was the bomb, light and airy! All the pasta is made in house and cooked exactly how it should be...al dente! The spicy vodka sauce with crumbled sausage is outstanding! The short rib app was another must order. Reasonably priced and worth every penny! I will fly back to NATI just to eat at Pepp & Dolores'!
Great atmosphere/ food/ and waitress
Probably the best restaurant experience we've enjoyed in years. Granted we're from Tucson and not enamored with the restaurants there. We've heard nothing but rave reviews and had to experience for ourselves. Great atmosphere...wonderful food and a completely delightful waitress. She helped us choose the Eggplant Involtini for an app. My wife never liked eggplant and we couldn't get enough of this absolutely wonderful dish. I had the Spicy Vodka and my wife had the Limone. Would we go back again?....If we lived in Cincinnati we would go back over and over again.
Lovely service, impeccable food
Iβve been here 3 times and I canβt stop! The food is delicious, the meat balls, ricotta bread and any pasta you choose, itβs all delightful. After a city tour, have your afternoon meal here or make it a date night. You canβt go wrong for any occasion. I especially enjoyed the excellent service last time I was there from the Host/server, great guy!
Excellent Italian small portion priced right
We are from out of town and a local recommended Pepp. She was so right! We could not get a reservation on a Sunday night on short notice but there are two bars that are first come first serve and we sat down within 10 minutes. We choose two interesting apps and they were great! Small portion and matching price so having multiple is fine for a couple. The entrees were both excellent as well and the side courses. All fair priced and affordable, dinner total including two glasses of wine plus coffee was $100 even. Very happy and we highly recommend
Delicious handmade pasta
Delicious meal! It was such a lovely evening we got to sit outside. Our waiter was very informative and helped explain how many dishes to order and what some of the pastas were. Drinks were good and all of the food was delicious ( we had the crostini al funghi for an appetizer, green salad, spicy vodka pasta and Gricia pasta). Would definitely return if in the area again.
Book far ahead- popular place!
Everything here is SO delicous! Ricotta appetizer yum. Fratelli Libre and manhattan (five families) cocktails= heck yeah!! Pastas all around spectaular. Ian, our server, so welcoming and helpful recommending drinks and dishes. Lovely and vibrant atmosphere. We sat downstairs. Getting a reservation = book waaay in advance. This place is verrry busy and for good reason.
Pepp & Delicious
Pepp & Delores is consistently good. We arrived tonight and were greeted promptly by a 2 people at the front desk. A 3rd person then, immediately showed us to our table. Ian, was our waiter, and he was spot on the entire evening. He had many good recommendations for us, as far as dinner went, wine, anything we needed. Pricing and proportions are very fair. I assume thatβs why itβs so difficult to get into Pepp & Dolores. Priced right, and absolutely delicious, with great service!! We enjoyed all the dishes below. We highly recommend all and more of them. Apps: Carpaccio Piemontese Artichokes Alla Giudia Marinated Cucumbers Meal: Spicy Vodka Pasta Stracciatella fusilli pasta Drinks: Paitin Stardin Nebbiolo wine Eagle Rare single barrel
10/10!
Excellent atmosphere, the most delicious food, and a fun/attentive/knowledge waiter, Max, made for a fantastic experience! Canβt wait to go back.
