The Coast Guard House Restaurant Narragansett Reviews from The Last Year
Had to try the lobster bisque.
Not impressed. Classic sleepy beach town diner feel. Plenty of peeps in a Sunday afternoon. I wouldn't return because the experience didn't leave an impression either way. Four stars because of history and it is kinda what most people like. Just not mez

We havent been to the CG House in about 10 years so gave it a try since it was one of the few restaurants open on a Monday. Upon arrival we were promptly seated in the main dining room With a spectacular view of Narragansett Bay. We were immediately approached by the wait staff who were very friendly and professional. After drinks were served we ordered chowder and bisque for apps. The chowder was thick, creamy, with an excellent broth. I am a chowder buff of this is one of the better soups I've had lately. My wife had mentioned that the bisque was very good also. For entrées, my wife had the prime rib special, and I had the baked stuffed fillet of sole. The beef was a generous portion and nice and red as she ordered. The baked sole consisted of 3 filets rolled around a very tasty seafood stuffing drizzled with a wine, butter, and lemon sauce. It was excellent.! For dessert we shared a piece ofvflourless chocolate cake with brandy soaked cherries. Very rich and very good. The Coast Guard house is a landmark restaurant in Narragansett. It is very busy during the tourist season. The night that we were there they happened to be on their A game and our experience was absolutely excellent.

We came to the Coast Guard House specifically to dine in an igloo. There's a $100 rental fee for this seating option and you have access to it for 2.5 hours. They have a handful of igloos available and each are themed differently inside, and no, you don't get to pick which igloo you get. They are available first come first served but reservations for this seating option are accepted. We ended up with the western themed igloo, which is all the way to the right of the building. The inside was a cozy space that had assorted chairs and benches to sit in, plus a variety of small tables, a fireplace, and a basket of cozy blankets in case you need them. Dining in the igloo was a really neat experience which we enjoyed. We ordered some drinks before ordering the calamari, and had the stuffed sole, and lobster ravioli for our entrees. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. The parking lot was full and the inside of the restaurant was crowded (and loud) so we were very thankful to have such a peaceful dining experience in the igloo.

If you are looking for a romantic, aesthetic, and coastal restaurant by the water, this is your place! The restaurant has beautiful views of the water with windows draped around the perimeter. There are also cute igloos outside on the deck currently. The area can get very busy especially in season but there is complimentary valet if you cannot find parking. I arrived early so grabbed some apps and drinks at the bar to kill sometime. The service was quick and the bartender was attentive. The shrimp cocktail was okay, I wish it were bigger for the price. The stuffies and calamari stole the show. The stuffies are "mini" and come in 4 per order and are stuffed on top of little neck shells. The Caesar salad had a delicious homemade dressing, fresh grated Parmesan cheese, and crisp romaine lettuce (Salad approved! - I'm a Caesar Salad snob and hateeeee warm lettuce and bad dressing , they passed the test! ) I had the Chicken Piccata for dinner and it was one of the best around - delicious lemon sauce, string beans on the side, and chicken lightly breaded and cooked perfectly.
Always the best.
I have never had anything that is not fantastic. Also, gets a bad rep for being expensive, but really isn't considering the ambiance and quality of the food
Highly recommended.
Try the Lobster Mac and cheese! Great staff and amazing food menu. Bring your appetite and your wallet. The experience is worth the price.
I had the worst experience here yesterday.
My fiance and I came here for a drink and some food and a beautiful view of the water on a beautiful day. The view was beautiful- everything else was not. I ordered the sunset burger and clearly asked for no egg. The waiter came out with calamari (someone else's order) so I told them it's not ours. They then came over with two other burgers that were not our order. Then came by burger with a huge over easy egg. I'm really not one to complain but I couldn't just scrape it off, so I asked the waitress if they could fix it. She looked off put but said yes. Less than 5 minutes later another burger showed up looking like the picture. The fries were cold (obviously the same from before) and the burger was uncooked. Completely uncooked. No one came by to check and see how I was doing until I flagged her down. I told her politely that it was not cooked and she said it's supposed to look like that because there's bacon in it. Then she took it away and came back with the manager and immensely apologized and said it was indeed not cooked and asked if they could serve me anything else to take home. I said no and please take it off the bill. All in all, they made it right after I escalated it several times but if I ate that burger I would have been sick!
The food was perfect, no complaints and I'm from NY.
The service was even better, the hosts and our waitress was flawless & most of all the manager Steve. He made our dining experience like we were family. Thank you all for a job well done.
On February 28th I took my wife to the Coast Guard House
On February 28th I took my wife to the Coast Guard House for her birthday. My wife had Salmon Wellington. It comes with mushroom sauce. She asked for it on the side. As she is not a big fan of mushrooms. That didn't happen. She did her best to remove it but it really put a damper on the taste for her. The sides were so so. I had Mahi Mahi fish tacos. The fish was excellent. Cooked perfect. Taste great. But I had to assemble it. I have never had fish tacos that I had to put together. A bunch of vegetables normally associated with fish tacos thrown on a plate. It was actually more like fish Fajitas. Dry shredded cabbage with no dressing or mayo on it. Absolutely no taste associated with any of the condiments. Worst fish tacos I have ever had. We both left there extremely disappointed. I did have a bowl of chowder to start and it was excellent. The Ambiance was fantastic. Our server was also excellent. She went out of her way to make my wife feel special on her birthday. Overall, we found the food to be so overrated...... Very disappointing...........
Scallops were ok, definitely not fresh- could tell they
Scallops were ok, definitely not fresh- could tell they were either previously frozen or treated... kind of crazy that they wouldn't be using fresh ones based on the location. Drinks were good.
Little Rhody oceanfront dining with great menu
We stopped in to this family favorite on a cold windy afternoon. This being the off season, we were happy to be seated at an oceanfront table without a reservation. The menu is especially good, but no traditional fish and chips, which we had been expecting. The fish and chips here during the season are very good. But, lots of good things on the menu. We went with a lobster roll, which was served warm with drawn butter. So lusciously good. A Caesar salad with a lobster tail, also served warm with drawn butter, a goat cheese, orange and beet salad. Nice combination of flavors and a perfect size for sharing and seared scallops on a bed of winter veggies. So tender and flavorful. This dish won the meal and there was plenty to share. The service was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Perfect lunch.
An igloo in Rhode Island is the bomb!
We had a unique experience at the Coast House as we reserved an "igloo" or yurt directly on the ocean (with waves crashing outside within feet of where we were seated). Each igloo can accommodate up to eight people and each has their own fireplace. Despite the cold and wind outside, we were warm and cozy. Our server (Ryan) was terrific and gave us both a history lesson and great overview of the menu. We enjoyed fresh oysters, calamari, agnolotti and scallops. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, definitely reserve an igloo!
Excellent Service, good location, uneven food quality
The very popular Coast Guard House was very crowded and noisy on the evening we decided to give it another try. The friendly and helpful service was very good with more then enough personnel to ensure good service. Our waitress was very well informed. The decor for the holidays was very attractive and the white ocean spray through the windows was very scenic. I wish I could be as laudatory about our dinners. The New England Chowder was good but the clams were like rubber and unchewable. The very nicely large shrimp on my simple dish, filled with Arugula had a very chemical, unpleasant taste and were probably overcooked las they were difficult to even cut up. The Arugula barely had any dressing. The lobster raviola did not even make it to the al dente stage. The pasta was raw filled with the tiniest bits of lobster and very sparse on the sauce. Baked eggplant ordered as al side dish was too salty to eat. While we have always enjoyed our dinners here, this one did not encourage a return visit. Parking is valet and there is on street parking as well.
Perfect Holiday Stop
I had been dying to go hear after hearing other members of my family talk about it. It is beautifully decorated for the holidays, they have a few outside domes that can be rented and we peaked at them look great and definitely on our list for next year to rent one. We had lunch at the bar and service was great, food was very good!
Stop by in summer and enjoy ocean view with cocktail.
We tried this place for lunch; we haven't been here in a while. Last time was in summer on the deck; it was a nice time. However, this time was a little different. Inside was a little tight with table placements - - very close. Also asked for ocean view, we were seated by window for view, but they have plastic huts on deck that blocked the view? The meal I had was $28.00 pasta, scallop, shrimp special that wasn't that special, I paid for pasta with little specks of shrimp and scallop. Would I recommend this place? If you can actually get an ocean view and asked specific questions on your entree, it may be worth trying. However, go in summer. I won't go back to eat but will enjoy a cocktail or two on outside deck. That was what I experienced. Maybe you will have better luck.
A beautiful experience and delicious food too
This is a wonderful spot for a special meal with friends or loved ones. We all sat on the outdoor deck, right at the edge of the water. The evening was chilly but the server turned on the gas heater next to us, which made the experience comfortable. The sound of the ocean was so pleasant to take in as we enjoyed a delicious meal of sea bass and scallops.
Great views, service and food!
Here for a nice dinner w/ a great view! This is not the place for small kids - a little expensive and upper-class menu. Our server, Meghan, was on it! She know the specials from memory, the menu details and answered EVERY question we had. She was very observant of of drinks and needs. Clam Chowder was very good (not need on-site). My Scallops were perfect as was the veggies with them. Lobster Ravioli were Large and packed with lobster, served in a creamed sauce. The Roasted Veggie Salad and side of Lobster salad was nicely done! ALL food was very good , but, service was excellent!!! Three wines plus dinner less tip was $150.00.
Exceptional experience
We made reservations for lunch based on the good reviews in Trip Advisor and I’m so glad we did. It was the perfect meal in every way. We were lucky to have a window seat with a beautiful view of the bay. Our server, Randall, was outstanding. After learning it was our first time dining there he shared with us the fascinating history of the building. He was very friendly and very attentive, stopping by to refill drinks, check on our meals and to chat a bit more about the swimmers in the bay (in October!). My husband & I both ordered the lobster roll which was absolutely delicious and so full of lobster we had no room left for dessert. I wish we were in Narragansett longer so we could have returned for dinner. We will definitely be back every time we are in the area.
Great Restaurant Delivers
Delivers excellent food. A little pricey. Great view of the ocean. Service was very good. A bit noisy.
A great waiter and a dud
We had 2 dinners in 3 days. The first time our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly and did a great job of answering our questions about menu items. It was an excellent meal so we went back 2 days later, This time we seemed to be inconveniencing our waiter who took forever to take and bring our order to our tucked-away table. He didn't even bother to ask if we wanted a desseret or coffee. We'd go back but wouldn't want hi as out waiter.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
