Ridiculously Overpriced
View is nice, food is fine (nothing special) but prices are ridiculous. A burger + one cocktail + one shared appetizer was $82 per person (inc tip). No way. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyVERY disappointing
AWFUL. Staff was incredibly rude. Food was mediocre at best and SOOOOOO overpriced!!! This place thinks it's in Manhattan but can't even come close. Server ARGUED about a dish that was ill prepared and sent back. I would never ever ever ever ever go back.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Sunset Dinner on the Hudson
While visiting with friends, we sat outside while watching a beautiful sunset over the Hudson. The Halibut & Filet Mignon dinners were perfectly cooked and delicious. The Lobster Pappardelle was simply amazing! 🤩 Best lobster pasta we’ve ever hard. Definitely returning next time we visit 😋
Be the first to ReplyThe view and setting far outweigh the food
Pretty views of water and outside park. Indoor and outdoor seating. That was the good. Menu has very limited food choices especially for dinner but even for just drinks and appetizers Lots of drink choices far more than their food choices but overpriced No bread with your dinner Appetizers we tried: Fried Calamari not alot of flavor, noticeable small portion compared to other places Crunchy Rice cakes - 4 pieces - nothing special Salmon - small piece of salmon with a few” mixed vegetables” zucchini & carrots thrown on plate - nothing else no rice or potato. Looked actually lost on plate. Not very filling plus came out barely warm (temperature wise). Ceasar Chicken Salad - the cooked chicken on top came out cold - hard to have this imenu choice disappoint but it did. Bottom line is there are alot of restaurants on the water with beautiful views but they also have good menu choices and you accomplish what you came for - enjoying your dinner. Here you are disappointed and practically leave hungry.
Be the first to ReplyNew wonderment on the Hudson!
3 Westerly Bar & Grill has a new chef, and he is a revelation! He is carefully upgrading a menu that had grown a little tired, introducing perky new dishes notable for their elevated taste and impeccably artistic presentations. Included are new vegetarian offerings that even devout carnivores will enjoy. We had a plate of gnocchi with unexpected but tasty veggies and an arrangement of duck confit topping corn cakes. And pizzas and sushi are still as good as ever. All this, that enclosed terrace, and that splendid river view make 3 Westerly an even more inviting destination than it was before.
Be the first to Replyboy do you pay for the lovely view
this is a nice place... the location on the Hudson allows for a lovely setting and there is a walking path you can enjoy after your meal. There is a really cool piece of sculpture art right outside as well. the service was also pretty good, friendly waitress. but the food is grossly overpriced! We had 1 small pizza, one order of french fries and a cup of tea and it was $55. the gluten-free pizza was quite good, not a lot of food but certainly good quality. but... the $15 truffle parm fries had the tiniest amount of truffle flavor and parm, it was kind of like eating regular fries. they were fine but not truffle parm! the tea was tea :) but it was $6! anyway, it's a fine place but don't expect amazing food and do expect to pay a premium for the Hudson River location.

When you have a large party, gratuity is automatically added in - which is fine if your server actually provides 20% worth of service. Very disappointed in the service - or shall I say, lack there of- we received for my daughter’s birthday. Granted they were about 13/14 teens, they should have been given more attention. They asked for beverages, never got them and ended up asking me to ask for them. 2 of her friends had to work and came late and couldn’t even place their order until it was time for cake. Additionally, the GM knew my family was there with a large party, walked past us 3 times and looked me in my face and said nothing, not once acknowledging us. Wish we had spent that $800 some place else.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner, great service
Not sure what to make of the spate of recent poor reviews here, but glad we didn't read them before the three of us had dinner. The half-dozen East Coast oysters were delicious and reasonably priced at $21; my Mussels Sophia, $21, was wonderful, with big, plump mussels -- but no fries; our friend's Prosciutto Pizza got a thumbs up, and large enough to take half home; my wife's Chickpea Vegetarian Bowl, $19, was very good. The innovative and delicious Mo'Jito Mo'Problems, $17, the glass rimmed with toasted coconut, was great, and my wife's Pinot Grigio, $14, was fine. All three of us would definitely come back. Two of us are from New York City, so no complaints about pricing, or comparisons with what you could get at a diner.

We were seated on time which was great. I ordered a glass of wine and when it came it was barely 1 oz. At $16 a glass I was quite surprised. I reluctantly ordered a second glass and it was a normal pour. Our appetizer came rather quickly but it took 45 minutes for our entrées. I asked for my filet mignon to be cooked medium rare and it came out medium well. At those prices and the quality of the food, we will not be going back anytime soon.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here, definitely last
First visit - definitely last. Party of six, we arrived at 5:30 PM with the place basically empty but still had to plead for a table. Server Carly was nice at the beginning; she knew one of us from middle school. Downhill from there! I asked the busboy in Spanish to keep the water flowing but had to beg for a glass each time. Two of us were served a personal pizza and the other four were kept waiting fifteen minutes. My chicken sandwich was covered in cheese which I didn't realize was part of it and the manager made me feel as if he did me a favor by taking it back. My goddaughter order a $46 filet mignon MEDIUM that came out bleeding and sent it back; it took nearly a half hour for her to be served and everyone else was done. I told the manager that in a restaurant of that caliber you always comp a dish you screwed up and he refused, then of course threw in my face how lucky I was to get my chicken sandwich taken off the bill because "there was nothing wrong with it." Basically this is a place in a "luxury" building in an area TRYING to gentrify after historically being "average" or less. It pretends to be a five-star Manhattan establishment but falls very, very short of its goal. It was my goddaughter's birthday and we didn't even stay for dessert; we got a cake and took it home. Then there was a "mandatory" 20% gratuity for parties of six or more and guess what; yes, it's on the menu but the print is SO MICROSCOPIC at the bottom of the menu that it almost looks like a graphic. Normally I would never penalize a server for mediocre food (though the service was nothing to shout about either) but I was so incensed at the refusal to comp the $46 steak ordeal that I felt compelled to reduce the tip to basically comp it myself. I persuaded the manager to remove the $66 mandatory tip and left $10 instead. The bill was $358 for five dinners and some insanely overpriced glasses of wine. Honestly we could have gone to one of the finest restaurants in midtown Manhattan, spent less and had a much better evening. Sorry, Westerly, tonight was a total disaster. Be smart and steer clear of this charade.
Be the first to ReplyThe view eclipsed the food...
The river view at sunset was spectacular as was the decor inside. Our server was lovely but it does seem the restaurant is understaffed because she was covering a LOT of tables. I ordered the branzino which was well-cooked and fresh, with a nice crispy skin, but a bit underseasoned. It was accompanied by a small cup of stewed cherry tomatoes. I'm not sure why I expected something else (rice, fries?) for $39 and I was a little underwhelmed. My husband had the crispy chicken sandwich, which was quite good according to him. The sweet potato fries seemed like they might have been frozen and fried. Dessert was the best part of the meal -- delicious tarte tatin, nicely caramelized apples with a scoop of ice cream. Overall a lovely evening but I am puzzled by my entree!
Be the first to Replywe ordered only appetizers but we will go back to try more ....
Spontaneous decision to try to get a table outside for lunch on a beautiful Sunday with our dog, not knowing that the restaurant is not dog friendly.. The staff was very accomodating and offered us a great table on the side with a premier seat for Fido on the grass. Our servers were very attentive. We only had drinks and appetizers, however, our choices of a pretzel and the veggie options were delicious. We’ll be back soon for a full meal.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
The view was amazing and the service was good. The food was good but not great. We had the pizza and Mac and cheese. The drinks were well made and delicious. Another table ordered the burgers and they looked good so if we came back then I might try that.

It's all about the view here. The décor and view of the Hudson River are outstanding. That's where the positives end. The food is mediocre at best and overpriced. We had a party of six. Four had the burger at $20. There was nothing wrong with the burger, but nothing you couldn't get at about half the price at a local diner. The fries that came with it were unappetizing coated fries. For $20, the restaurant should be offering hand cut fries or high end fries. The margherita pizza bordered on inedible according to the member of our group who ordered it. A lobster roll at $30 consisted of lobster salad instead of chunks of lobster. With a lobster salad, you can't tell if it's all lobster or surimi. The price point was again somewhat higher than usual. The beer some of us ordered on tap for $9 was served in a puny glass. Otherwise, the drinks were good. The service was competent. The take away here is that if you want to go for drinks and the view, it's not a bad choice. If you are dining here, you are likely to be disappointed.

I have really enjoyed this restaurant over the last few years because of their wonderful location and really great food. However , last nights visit changed my opinion drastically. We were a table of four ,seated outdoors ,under one of many speakers . ( The speakers were all around the tables and unavoidable) We found it difficult to speak to each other because of the volume of the music. This continued throughout the 90 minutes that we dined. We might have stayed for dessert if it weren’t for this annoying factor . Instead, we left for a place that served dessert and allowed for conversation. Another issue, which shouldn’t be an issue at all, Is that when I ordered my specialty roll I asked for a green salad and was told I could not get a green salad because it didn’t come with that roll !But I wanted to pay for this side green salad !! And they served my husband a green salad with his hamburger and yet that was not an option for me . The waitress responded to this by saying that there were no special requests for food and no changes to the menu. Lastly, I ordered the crunchy scallop roll which was really delicious .However I was hard-pressed to find a piece of scallop on my fork and I did eat the whole thing !!
Be the first to ReplySo So Lunch
For lunch, my husband and I each ordered the $34 lobster pappardelle dish, which was quite good with a thick broth. However, when I asked our server for bread, she informed us that bread is only given with their mussels dish, not with the lobster pasta entree. I was quite surprised by that. IMHO it's pretty petty for an upscale restaurant to withhold bread to accompany a $34 dish. The view is great; the service, not so much.
Be the first to ReplyAlmost fine dining
The restaurant, the food, the view and the price were very good. What was lacking was the service. No one asked if everything was good during the meal, no refill of glasses, no one asked if anyone wanted dessert. In fact, I had to ask one of the staff to get the waiter for the check.
I am going to try again and hopefully the service that day was not the usual.
Great Service, Good food and Excellent View
Great service from the time you enter. Greeted warmly and felt welcome. We had the spicy Salmon and Unagi with Avocado as well as the Clam Pizza and was fantastic. The wine selection was pretty good as well. The service all throughout was very good and the view of the Hudson river was breathtaking. I would definitely add this to my list of dining with a view places. 35 miles from Manhattan so not too far of a drive. It was worth it.
Be the first to ReplyBest on the Hudson
Five of us had a delightful meal here: lovely ambience and views, and good food /drinks at sensible prices — by far the most pleasant restaurant we’ve found on the Hudson. And (the signature of a well-run establishment) they made prompt and generous amends for a glitch in our service. We’ll certainly be back.
