Brum is lucky to have 670 grams!
My friend and I were originally booked in for Easter Sunday (£45 lunch), however, the restaurant had to cancel due to power issues. The communication around the issue was great, and we rebooked for the following week.. it was worth the wait! We both loved the food - the concepts around the dishes were novel and the flavours were fab. The service was spot on; attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. This place justified the hype I have seen over social media. Exceptional value for money. Thoroughly recommend and can't wait to come back!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Birthday Meal!
My wife booked a surprise birthday meal back in Jan 24 - in between booking & our date booked for 23/03 the menu had changed back to a Tasting Menu & the communication on this was great. It was our first time to 670 Grans & we decided to go for the full Tasting Menu & I’m so glad we did. The food was exquisitely presented, packed full of flavour that was balanced and flavours that complimented one another perfectly. Particular highlights were the Cod course with Chicken Skin, Dashi & Nori seasoning - so light but so tasty! The Scallop & Langoustine with Thai Herbs dressing and the Hispi Cabbage dish. It was all great but these stood out from memory. We enjoyed the appetisers of Kray FC, Pineapple with Char Sui and the home cured meat at the start before moving up into the restaurant. If you’re considering a relaxed, but fine dining level of food then 670 Grans ticks all the boxes! The service from Rume and the team was really on point, attentive but not over bearing & super friendly. The Wine & Cocktail Menu really complimented the standard of the food also. We’ll definitely be back! 🏻
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu and wine Flight
Tasting menu with wine flight. It was my 50th Birthday so I decided to treat myself to a night out at 670 grams. I did the tasting menu and wine flight. I can honestly say the food was outstanding as was the service. Amy contacted me a few days before the meal to ask about dietary requirements, I had none. I did ask if they had a wine flight as there is no mention on the website. She replied promptly with a reply and advised it was £75 and was 5 glasses of wine. The food was excellent in flavour as it was in presentation. The service was excellent and the staff were very informative and friendly. It was a nice touch that the owner/ chef came over and delivered the food to the table and talked about the dishes. I am looking forward to trying the menu again in the summer
Be the first to ReplyReally offers something different from the norm
Wonderful evening at 670 grams. The place oozes ambience and atmosphere. The toilet is such a hoot, you could spend ages reading the graffiti. The taster menu is so different from your usual, We were blown away by the nibbles at the table whilst having our aperitifs, the pineapple snack was to die for. All the courses of the taster menu offered something different, In particular we loved the scallop, cabbage and cod dishes. Every dsssert was to absolute die for. Service was decent and attentive. We had a wonderful evening and will certainly return.

We initially booked the set lunch menu for a birthday for 3 couples. A week before we was due to attend, the restaurant contacted us to advise there had been an issue with the booking system and there was a private event on the afternoon we had booked to go and could we attend in the evening instead with an offer of the full tasting menu experience with a bottle of champagne at the same price we had paid. We agreed to attend on the evening instead. The venue is quite discreet and quirky. The dishes were different, unique and mostly tasty. After eating 5 of our dishes we were moved back downstairs to what I would describe as a waiting area to finish off our last 3 courses. This seemed a bit odd and when asked why we were moved the staff advised this was part of the experience. We expressed that this had slightly ruined the ending to a lovely evening and we were each given a drink on the house for the inconvenience. Overall the evening was enjoyable and the staff very accommodating.
Be the first to ReplyA very enjoyable meal
670g was collaborating with Stripclub burgers so we booked a table for my husband’s Birthday. We started the evening downstairs with a cocktail which was very good and then moved upstairs for the meal. The seven small plates of food we had were all delicious especially the steak tartare and fried macaroni cheese in crab bisque. My husband’s favourite was the very tasty beef burger. The wine and cocktail menu is quite small but we had a nice Shiraz and an excellent red dessert wine which paired very well with the S’mores. The staff were very polite and attentive despite the restaurant being very busy and a bit tight on space. Would definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelming and Overpriced
I had been wanting to go to this restaurant for so long so was super excited when my husband booked it as a surprise for my 50th Birthday. He paid £140 in advance for a tasting menu which then got changed to 'The Chef's Choice' but it was such a big disappointment. We started with cured meats, olives, anchovies and bread which we felt was really lazy and definitely not worth the £32 price tag!!! Then we got a random confit duck leg to share. Next a piece of mackerel and small piece of skate with some dull new potatoes and two shallots. We ordered some red wine to have with the meat course as we had been advised but then dessert arrived! When we enquired about the meat course we were told that the chef had changed their mind and given us fish instead. All the food was ok but very overpriced and underwhelming and when we added up what we had had been given it only came to £128 which annoyed us even more! We were expecting so much more from a restaurant listed in the Mitchlin Guide!!

I would not recommend this restaurant. The food is OK but very expensive and the experience leaves a lot to be desired. There are so many other places in Birmingham that I would advise you to dine at instead.
Be the first to Reply670 Grams - Where the customer is always wrong
If you're going to do anything today please spare 5 minutes to read my honest review following dining in this restaurant on the evening of Saturday 27th Jan. I booked the chefs choice menu for my other halves 30th birthday, we had read good things about this place and we had been meaning to try it for a while. As we were seated at the restaurant a couple near us were visibly dissatisfied with the food, we overheard them complain that it isn't value for money based on what they had, I'm not one to be swayed by other people's dissatisfaction as everyone has different tastes and expectations, myself and my other half both said we would judge it for ourselves. The first dishes arrived, these were a flat bread, olives, cured meat, prawns and anchovies. The portion size would have been enough for one person but not for 2 to share. For context there were 5 small slithers of anchovies, 3 prawns, 3 slices of salami and 3 slices of beef with a small pot of olives, the next course came out which was a sirloin steak doused in peppercorn sauce with a tiny portion of potatoes, salad leaves and one shallot each. The food was okay, not brilliant but okay, what surprised me was after this course the waitress asked if we were ready for dessert, bearing in mind this meal was £140 up front I would have expected more. We had a dessert each, which again was okay. Myself and my partner were both dissatisfied with what we had for the money, had I not paid upfront I would not have paid £140 for that meal. I spoke to Rume who is the bar/wine manager and he couldn't apologise enough, we agreed that the food wasn't worth what we had paid and he asked me to email the restaurant and they will refund a portion of my meal. Whilst this was going on, the couple adjacent to us were also having the chefs choice but they had complained of both the quality and quantity of food. The chef then came out and started to berate the customers, suggesting that the male of the couple had an issue because the food wasn't cooked by a man and branded him chauvinistic. At this point I interjected and informed the chef that both myself and my partner were also disappointed and that a couple prior to us was also disappointed, this was met with "you're only piping up because they have". We left the restaurant and exchanged details with this couple as we were both going to complain, that evening whilst the events were still fresh in the memory I penned an email to the restaurant as suggested by Rume explaining my dissatisfaction. On the morning of 28th January I received a call from the restaurant, the male was abrupt and didn't formally introduce himself, I had to ask who he was and I was informed that it was intact Kray who I was speaking to. I was hopeful that the owner of the restaurant would be concerned that a number of customers had a negative experience in his restaurant, this wasn't the case. I was met with an argumentative individual who tried to suggest that the food I had consumed was in fact worth £180. I questioned Kray on the events of the night before and that it is supposed to be fine dining and that I had never experienced a chef come out of the kitchen to argue and berate customers, Kray then informed me that this chef was actually his wife. Kray tried to compare his restaurant to a cinema by saying " if you watch a film in the cinema and you don't like it you don't get your money back" the difference is this is a £140 meal with a service charge of £17.50 added and not a cinema ticket of £10. Kray really wasn't interested in entertaining a conversation and informed me that "I don't want to sound arrogant but we're doing well", the restaurant was busy, however, the restaurant seats around 10 tables at a time, 3 tables who had the chefs choice all complained, that is atleast 30% of the restaurant who wouldn't return, not factoring in any customers who hadn't complained that wouldn't return. Kray has said I'm not receiving any refund on the meal and that Rume should not be offering a refund as it isn't his restaurant, there is only one reason why you pay up front for this restaurant and it's because you would never pay full price for the meal after dining. Kray did agree to refund the service charge and my bank details have been sent, I am currently awaiting the transfer of money. Overall the value for money was very poor. It has cost me £140, however the cost to Kray will be much greater. I try to support independent businesses where possible, I will never step foot back in that restaurant or any other ventures which involve Kray. Also I have already shared my experience with family and friends who will also now never visit. They may do okay for the short term but I firmly believe they will not have repeat business, be removed from the Michelin guide and look to change the menu or concept again within 12 months. A real shame and disappointment.

I was taught if you can not say something nice don't say anything at all. However I am going to say this I understand why they make you pay up front. How this place has a Michelin star rating I will never know.
Be the first to ReplyGreta Sunday lunch
We had a fabulous Sunday lunch here with friends The roast was very good especially the gravy and roast potatoes The starters and puddings were wonderful and would highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding with smoked ice cream. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, can’t wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyExperience a mind-blowing menu, a must-try culinary delight that will tantalise your taste buds!
Absolutely recommend this restaurant! The staff is incredibly friendly, and we felt so well taken care of. The menu experience was truly mind-blowing – the textures and flavours were out of this world. I could devour 1000 Custard Factory tarts; they're that good! Love the rich history of the custard and how the tart perfectly captures the essence of Birmingham. A culinary experience that's simply outstanding!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Went for a Sunday roast. Service was friendly but slow and inconsistent, ended up being there for hours but felt that was too long. Portion sizes were small, I get that it’s fine dining but felt it was a bit of a joke for the money paid (pre paid as well). Soft drink options were very limited. Wine was very expensive. Didn’t enjoy the food particularly as I felt the roast potatoes weren’t up to scratch and the gravy tasted like wine that hadn’t been reduced properly. My meat was good, enjoyed the carrots and cauliflower. Menu said it should come with red cabbage, but it didn’t. Restaurant was cold as well. If we weren’t with company I would have probably said something to the team, but felt like it was probably not worth the hassle, as they seemed quite absent. Despite having long periods between courses and plates left on the table for ages, as soon as we had finished our desserts the bill was presented. No offer of coffee or anything so I assume they needed the table. A Sunday roast should really be an advert for a customer to come back and try the tasting menu but unfortunately after that experience I won’t be back.
Be the first to ReplyImpersonating fine dining
The restaurant has an urban pop up vibe. Nice enough but rough round the edges, more fitting a posh burger joint than fine dining. We had the signature tasting menu which comprised of 2 starters, 1 main, 2 puddings with a snack course to start. We also had an additional cheese course to follow the main. The snack course was a KFC style breaded deep fried chicken. It was presented in a fun miniature bucket but other than that offered little to justify why it was there, (I could have had any oven or fried chicken for the same or better) and was greasy. A char siu pineapple which was nice (it's pineapple) but the Char siu flavours were non existent. Bread and butter, the bread was of a donut consistency and was very nice paired with the butter. There was the house soup which lacked any flavour and was more akin to a used finger dipping bowl when eating spare ribs than a soup. There was another pot of savoury custard, which was very nice, it would have been better to have more of that and dump the soup. 5/10 The first starter was a smoked cabbage and sauce. It was nice but the cabbage had a fibrous outer layer and any smoked flavour didn't come through. It was also just a cabbage. 5/10 Second was a crab dish. A crab oil cooked nan bread with a crab custard and a pot of crab stuff. This was by far the highlight of the night. The custard with the bread was amazing and the pot of crab stuff added to it well. 8/10 (a side note and not incorporated into the score as I can't prove it, but observing the chef assembling the dish It very much looked like he tasted the crab which is used for the small pots then used the same spoon to fill the pots for our and another table. Not impressed) The main was chicken with Thai green curry sauce and courgette with courgette puree. Chicken was well cooked and tasty, the green curry sauce was nice but the courgette was hard and the puree again, was lost against the strength of the green curry. The dish had some strengths but was very uninspired (green curry seems to be everywhere at the moment). 6/10 The next was a cheese course add-on, warmed brie over a date bread with truffle. This actually worked really well and straddled between savoury and sweet. Shame that it isn't part of the taster and cost another £15 each to enjoy. 6/10 The first pudding was a pear and Parma ham thing. Worked okay but wasn't anything amazing in the technical or flavour department 4/10 The last pudding was a dark chocolate moose with an orange topping and olive oil cake. Moose was nice, shame there wasn't more of the cake to make it stand out against the dark chocolate. Again though, not a very original take. 5/10 Wine pairing- each selection was nice and on the whole went well with the courses. But, and it is a big BUT, for £85 for 5 glasses I struggle to find the justification for that price, which is more than the actual the food. So on the whole a painfully mediocre affair with okay but uninspired dishes, lacking the flare, premium ingredients, refinement or technical complexity (not even including a possible hygiene misdemeanor) to push it any higher than just an okay amateur fine dining experience. One definitely that doesn't justify it's price tag. I'd stick to the other far superior restaurants dotted around the city.
Be the first to ReplyOh yes!!
The most amazing experience. We had the full 20 courses which I would whole heartily recommend. Kray was on duty to give us the most memorable personalised tour of the courses. The man’s a genius and definitely deserves a Michelin star. This place is right up my street. Thanks again Kray and crew. 👍👍👍

This place is unbelievable. The dishes that they do are amazing. I have tasted flavours that I have never had before. Kray Treadwell is a genius with ingredients. This restaurant is a must if you are visiting Birmingham. This is the second time I have been with my husband, lucky to sit at the chefs table for both times. Fantastic staff, fantastic service, best food experience ever!
Be the first to ReplyEvery mouthful was a taste explosion!
Every mouthful was a taste explosion and so beautiful too. Probably one of the best fine dining experiences I've ever had. The pairing of drinks with food was perfect. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We will return.

Be the first to ReplyFabulous lunch experience
My husband surprised me by booking lunch for my birthday and he made an excellent choice with this restaurant. We had a great afternoon of wonderful food, with each course a suprise of elegant balanced flavours and clever cookery. The space is small but felt cosy on the wet afternoon we visited , the decor is slightly edgey and fun and the music fits the surroundings well. We hadn't booked a wine flight but we left the sommelier to choose glasses of wine throughout the meal and we enjoyed some lovely wine pairings. It's been a couple of weeks since our visit and I'm left with the memory of some beautifully delicate courses....a true treat for us and we can't wait to find an excuse to come back again. I wish the Chef and his team the very best and thank you all for looking after us so well.

We were so looking forward to our visit to 670grams. Having received a call earlier in the day of our visit, asking if we wanted to eat at the chefs table, We responded to the left message but got not response. Due to this we arrived at 5-45pm in case there was an issue with our booking of 4. We were met at the door by a staff member, who abruptly told us, “ we are not open yet” After explaining, a member of staff from upstairs asked us inside and showed us the chef table, we declined as perching on stools was not our thing. We were assured of a table of 4 would be ok. We returned and was greeted by the same staff member I think it was Aisha, it was a bit chaotic as two other diners were being seated at the same time Unfortunately the service didn’t get any better, it felt very clunky and definitely rushed, I know Kray wasn’t there, but we all felt that the staff didn’t want to be be there either. I’m not sure how I would describe the food style, it’s artistic, presented well but is only finger food Of the 15 courses, I feel there should have been one course that was a bit more substantive, but that was only our opinion. The wine pairing was very minimal and was by far the most disappointing, by way of different wines I’ve had and due to the high volume of the music, it was very hard to hear about the wines, we did ask aisha to stand closer to the table on a few occasions. I’m sure the majority of customers will love the concept and the ambience. As a more mature clientele we felt it wasn’t for us. I have visited many of the fine dining establishments in Birmingham and this was my least
Be the first to ReplyBest restaurant I’ve been to for some time.
Thought the food, the ambience and the service were all superb. 16 course taster menu. I loved all of them (I wouldn’t eat one due to having Foie Gras but my fault for not putting on the notes when booking). The restaurant is only small but modern, funky decor which fitted in with the old school hip hop playing. My new favourite place in bham.
Be the first to ReplyFirst visit and will most definitely be back
Had the absolute pleasure of dining at 670 grams last night and man what a pleasure it was! We were asked if we wouldn’t mind moving to chef’s table which was a great opportunity to see such talented chefs at work in the smallest of spaces. I can’t single out the best dish because it was plate after plate of incredible food and flavour with precision presentation. Service was knowledgeable, so friendly and completely unpretentious, unlike other places in town my friend and I have visited. I’ve watched Kray on Great British Menu and was really looking forward to visiting 670 grams and it most certainly didn’t disappoint. Would I recommend?? Now what do you think….hell yes!! Thanks team 670 grams!!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing, as ever
Just visited for our anniversary and sat at the chef’s table. Esme the chef tonight and was fabulous. The food is simply incredible. You never know what is coming next and try things you would not imagine. What an experience. Have already booked again and can’t wait. I cannot recommend it enough. Has to be the best in Birmimgham!
Be the first to ReplyAn amazing experience in the heart Digbeth
Arrived in a cool trendy up and coming part of Birmingham, Digbeth is being reborn, Coming from Highgate next door..what a transformation !!! Kray Treadwell is one to be watched!! Amazing food..things you would never even have thought to be combined together. Personal service from Kray and his team. It was really stunning. The intimacy of only 10 covers is very humbling as you can appreciate the time and management it takes to make this an amazing experience. Thank you Kray and all your staff we had a lovely 20th Wedding anniversary meal and will recommending you.
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely worth a look!
Excellent, Michelin quality food without the pretentious nonsense that often goes with it. Quirky but great setting, great service and great music. We'll definitely be back. Our only very minor criticism is that perhaps the drinks menu could be expanded a little.
