Let's start with the gnocchi because it is the single greatest pasta I've ever tasted. The meatball bucatini was delicious and so was the lobster fusilli but wow the gnocchi was TO DIE FOR. Our server was so sweet and kind. The food was 10/10. We needed to make our reservation 6 weeks in advance and there was one time slot for us so if you're planning a trip to Chicago plan ahead but it was so worth it. Incredible food.

Beautiful, comfortable and quiet, with great food and great drinks, reasonably priced. The summertime patio along Michigan Avenue is outstanding. Service is always attentive and professional. An excellent experience.
Be the first to ReplyChaka our server was incredible.
We only managed to take the appetizer picture because everything else flew out the plate when it came to our table. The cocktails were incredible. Great wine pairing with dishes at reasonable prices. And their homemade ice creams and sorbets are a must! Best vanilla ice cream in United States IMHO. Both indoor and outdoor seatings are great. We ate here on Friday and came back on Sunday for more!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the lobster ink fusilli and it was phenomenal.
I was initially apprehensive but it was very good. Nice restaurant as well.

We love Acanto and I was so excited to take out of towner's here! To start, they have an extensive wine list and a perfectly creamy and balanced espresso martini. The arancini and bread service are a must - fritto misto is a little skimpy for the price but tastes delicious! Lobster fusilli and agnolotti were delicious. The highlight of the table was surely the bucatini and meatballs; such an amazing take on a classic. Simple yet so good. Last, Acanto has a great tiramisu and chocolate cake. Everyone enjoyed and we had a great night! Love visiting whenever we get a chance :)
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere.
The staff were wonderful and knowledgeable of the menu to make recommendations. I had a birthday surprise afterwards and the waitress worked with me to make the night wonderful for my girlfriend.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has a really cool ambiance and was just buzzing.
We didn't make a reservation, which I would highly recommend, but they had a very nice heated outdoor area for overflow. This was comfortable but not inclusive in the great atmosphere I side, which was a bummer to miss out on. The starters were amazing. I had the Fritto misto, shrimp, and olives. My husband chose the burrata from the Chicago week menu. That was a fix prix menu and was a really lovely deal. I had the risotto of the day with scallops a d the scallops were perfection, but the risotto was so salty I couldn't eat it. The brazzino and fennel on my hubbys deal was superb, as was the brownie martini, which was presented artfully and tasted delicioso. The quartz table edge was filthy, please wash those alo g with the tops. Lose a star for this and the salty risotto. I did enjoy the experience.
Be the first to ReplyI cannot say enough good things about this restaurant.
I came here for dinner with my boyfriend after getting drinks at Cindy's and the food was absolutely incredible. Every single thing we ate was perfect and the dessert was the best thing I've ever tasted. Our waitress was kind and very helpful with our menu selections. The restaurant is cozy, low lights, indoor and outdoor seating. You can't beat it. We will absolutely return when we are back in Chicago.

Came here for Chicago Restaurant Week 2024 and the CRW lunch menu was delicious and definitely worth trying out for $25. The burrata was creamy and paired well with the accompanying roasted beets and bright notes of citrus. The toast was a bit too hard for me but otherwise, the burrata was a great first course. The fritto misto was fantastic as well and the fried olives were a nice surprise (the person who decided to fry a castelvetrano olive is a genius). The second course options were good as well but let me continue on and highlight the panna cotta. OH MY. This dessert was 10/10 - I highly recommend trying this over the other dessert option (zuppa inglese). The panna cotta was creamy with a nice balance of rich chocolate-y goodness and crunchy bits and pieces of sponge cake. Definitely one of those dishes that elicit sounds of contentment. Overall, loved the cozy vibes of Acanto and the service was good as well. The spot is ideal as well if you're ever in the Loop area.
Be the first to ReplyWe had an incredible time at Acanto for dinner last week.
I can't recommend it more! Acanto truly has it all: *Amazing location right in the heart of the Loop directly across from Millennium Park, also close to both the L, Metra, and parking garages *Gorgeous romantic interior! PERFECT for date night. The real lit candlesticks on each table definitely added to the intimate ambiance. *High quality ingredients *Thoughtful menu items from appetizers to dessert *Attentive service *Zero proof cocktail options *Option to pay via QR code if you want to expedite leaving Truly every menu item we ate was delicious, but my personal favorite standouts were the fritto misto, wild striped bass (the beluga lentils were SO flavorful and truly just like caviar), and flourless chocolate cake. I was also super impressed by the tea! Rare Tea Cellar loose leaf tea in a little kettle. The tea and cappuccino my husband ordered came with a little biscotti. A great touch! I can't wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant! Great service.
Perfect food. Fav restaurant! Lovely comfortable environment.

We went to Acanto for a birthday celebration date and had a wonderful night! The space is small and cozy and we forgot that we were right on Michigan Avenue as soon as we sat down. The staff fit the atmosphere with how friendly and accommodating they were!We started with the bruschetta and the Arancini and both were excellent but the true star was the pasta. We had the risotto special and the butternut cappelletti for our mains - both used unique flavor combinations for mind blowing results Our only regret is that we didn't save enough space for everything on the menu. We'll definitely be coming back and would recommend it anyone looking for a cozy spot in the loop!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for HH.
$9 glasses of wine - red, white, & sparkling. Got the white... delicious. Got their olives & prosciutto bruschetta, both were solid options. They also had 3 pizza options in their HH menu. Inside was cozy & nice. Actual candles at each table. Didn't have dinner there but their menu sounded divine & the plates that were coming to each side of us look very appetizing. Service was very attentive as well. A very solid option, regardless if HH, in the Loop if you want legit, solid food for a decent price point.

Stayed in Chicago for the weekend, and my girlfriend took me out to this dinner for my birthday. Everything was amazing. Service was fantastic, ambience was ideal, and the food was impeccable.Full disclosure: this is not your standard Italian restaurant. Think high-end, rustic, hearty dishes, with an elegant flair. I struggle to think how the evening could have been any better. Really really really impressed with this place. Definitely will go back the next time. We are in Chicago.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was seriously good.
The ambiance is so intimate and romantic. I was joking to my friend about how we were on a date haha. The service was top notch as well. The food--amazing! We started off by getting an arancini to share. This was perfectly crisp and cheesy. The rice was cooked well too. I got the butternut cappelletti which was divine! You can really taste all the flavors and the filling was super creamy and indulgent. I think this was my favorite of the night. My friend got the lobster paccheri. I tried a little bit of hers & this was also great, but I think the butternut cappelletti had a slight edge. Drinks--very strong. My espresso martini sure did pack a punch! I prefer my espresso martinis to be sweeter than how Acanto makes theirs, but I can't complain about getting my bang for my buck. My friend's aperol spritz was very tasty and refreshing. You can really tell this place is trying to earn a Michelin star with their excellent service and food!

After several visits to Acanto over a couple years, I have determined this might actually be the best Italian food in Chicago.Offering a relatively small menu, this kitchen somehow manages to send incredibly consistent, nearly perfectly cooked food every time I have been there. Every pasta arrives al dente, the risotto has perfectly seasoned al dente grains, the fish special arrives with rich crispy skin and tender flesh accompanied with a selection of perfectly textured fresh vegetables and sauces. The arancini arrive piping hot with a crispy outside and a rich tomato sauce. Even the vegetable sides are always perfectly seasoned and properly cooked, including the baby zucchini and a fantastic polenta with fresh corn kernels for a lovely texture.I've also enjoyed their panna cotta with blueberries and their creamy gelato which they serve in a generous portion of three real scoops.Acanto offers a subdued ambiance appropriate for a date or just an elevated unpretentious dinner.
Be the first to ReplyThe staff was very friendly and informative.
The environment in here is great and cozy in terms of size. On my first visit I had the rigatoni which was delicious. On my second visit I got the pizza which was spectacular. It's not cheap but it is worth the cost and definitely should be put in your rotation.

Wow. Look Italian is-- Italian, in Chicago it's over saturated and kind of all blends together for me, but this place was something else. From drinks to appetizers, to dinner & dessert everything was fantastic. Our server was great, very helpful, and anticipated all of our needs- don't remember what their name was but they were tall and red headed I believe so do with that what you will managers. Lol My husband had the old fashioned and he loved it. We did the fritto misto (fried shrimp) and they were delicious- fried perfect and the sauce was so good. We shared the fish of the day and the butternut cappelletti (the pasta was mind blowing). For dessert we had the tiramisu- this is by faaarrr the best tiramisu we have EVER had... omg you have to try it. The restaurant itself is rather small but super cozy and the real candle sticks on the tables were a really nice, warm touch. Highly recommend this place.. we will definitely be back!

Have always enjoyed trying new spaces to eat, but the prices during restaurant week makes it even more exciting. Love a good prix frixe menu. I chose the salad; mixed greens that were fresh and crispy with olive oil and vinaigrette and fresh parmesan. I ordered the bread service because I enjoy a good piece of buttered bread with a nice salad. Not only did I get warm rosemary garlic bread, but house-made seeded crackers and they were delicious. Then came my entree; perfectly cooked rigatoni with the best short rib ragu I have ever eaten. Topped off with shredded cheese. Was there any room for dessert? Of course because they serve tiramisu on a pool of creme anglaise with a chocolate curl. Oh yea! Not to worry though, I had only eaten 1/2 of my entree. You see, I already saved room for dessert.
Be the first to ReplyOur party of three enjoyed this place.
We split an order of bruschetta that was different with no tomato. It had parma ham and some kind of buttery spread but was very good. I also had some Bucatini with meatballs and the chicken piccata which was all very good. Nice place, would go again.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious.
Even with the arrogant smirk from the waiter for my mispronunciation of a pasta- this was a lovely time. Food and drink choices on point. The olives in the martini- I dream of them. The pasta- heaven.
Be the first to ReplyHere's the deal.
When Ur in a unfamiliar city and looking for a restaurant that will give you a home-run dinner ya go to YELP!! This is great spot across from "The Bean" .... They have an indoor bar area & indoor/ outdoor dining ...it's a simple menu with great specials ! Hands down the homemade cavatelli with a lite sauce of pistachio & arugula with a hint of fresh lemon is a can't miss !! The red roasted pepper risotto special was on point too. Service was great and attentive ! Not gonna miss here coming here!

We tried their appetizer with fried shrimp- it was amazing! Also tried the bolognese but it was okay. The restaurant has a nice vibe inside and have a small outdoor patio. Our waitress was not too friendly that night but assuming the heat has gotten to her. Overall it was a nice chill experience and would love to visit and try something else!
Be the first to ReplyLet me preface this review with the fact I went to Happy
Let me preface this review with the fact I went to Happy Hour here and did not in fact eat. When we arrived here, we requested a table for two. There were several tables open but we were told they would not be able to seat us for two hours. I assumed that perhaps the other tables were reserved. My friend and I asked to sit at the bar. This wasn't offered when we were told we wouldn't be able to be seated but whatever, the hostess said sure. We sat at the bar listening to some lady who was there on a business trip talk about the times she was drunk in Europe to the bartender. He was, in fact, looking like a hot dad and maybe was Italian. He had an indeterminate accent which my friend and I decided was Italian. We were not immediately asked if we would like a drink and finally my friend waved down the bartender. We ordered our drinks. I mean, this bar isn't huge. Like maybe 8 chairs? Maybe he was giving us time to decide, maybe he didn't care? Jury is out. The wine was good. Prices are not insane. Happy hour made each glass about $9 and regular prices are like between $12 and a million dollars. There were limited selections for happy hour but you could probably find something you liked. The ambiance in the restaurant itself is lovey. It's dimly lit but not like eating in an unlit closet. It was like the nice natural light and candles type of dimly lit. It has some outdoor seating which was totally full. The inside is small and didn't have a ton of seating. Reservations are probably a good plan if you want to eat at a particular time. Although the tables that were empty when we arrived remained empty for over an hour. I can't speak to the food but the wine list is extensive. If you are a wine enthusiast, this is a nice spot to stop.
