Truly a Unique Experience
Located up the enchanting valley from Valnontey, this authentic, multigenerational family dairy farm is run by a father and two daughters. The father is the herdsman, one daughter is the cheesemaker and the other the cook. They make cheeses traditional to this area; you may visit just to buy cheese or also to have lunch at their wonderful restaurant. Everything served is "of the place", stunning boards of cheeses and salumi, polenta, ricotta gnocchi, vegetable torte with fondue, everything served with vivid small touches-- a spoonful of carrot/pepper marmalade on the cheese board, chestnuts in honey on the salumi board. It was all delicious. We didn't try the desserts, but hope to go back just for that another day. You may eat inside the charming small restaurant, or outside at wooden tables overlooking the farm and the valley. We stumbled on this farm while walking the valley, and have now been back twice. The word "authentic" is overused, but this place is the real deal.

This beautiful farm, restaurant and small shop is worth going out of your way to visit. They milk about 40 cows, seasonally, each for about 6 - 8 years. The milk is used to make extraordinary cheese on the farm. No milk is shipped off the farm. The cheese is featured in their remarkable restaurant (reservations required). If the weather is nice, be sure to eat at one of the out door tables. They also sell knitwear, honey, as well as various types of their cheese. The farm is about 3 miles out of Cogne and 1 mile out of Valnontey, up a gorgeous alpine valley. A visit will be highly rewarding.
