Reading the other reviews I can only think we were eating at Aizle on an off night. Service was quite charmless and lacked any warmth, they also cleared some of the plates from the table before everyone had finished eating, which for me is an absolute no-no. The vegetarian tasting menu lacked any protein and the person eating it was still hungry at the end of the meal, even after 6 courses. None of us liked the second dessert, a strange chocolate and barley confection - we all left behind most of it (even the one who was still hungry.) Again, on the service, I was amazed that nobody questioned why none of us had finished eating it, it must have indicated something had they been interested enough to enquire. The other thing is that it is called a garden room for a reason - it's like a conservatory and it was extremely cold in there, I noticed other diners had warm scarves on (of the kind that were not designed purely for decoration.) There were some heaters around but not enough. To be fair, it was an exceptionally cold night in the middle of December, but you would expect that they would be ready for that kind of weather in Scotland, given that it was in line with the forecast. On the plus side, some of the amuse bouches/first courses were delicious - a little cheese confection in a thin pastry pot was divine, and the smoked eel starter on a crisp "leaf" was also excellent. The duck main course was very good. I think perhaps had the service been more welcoming and smiley, and the temperature had not been so challenging, it would have transformed our overall experience and we might have been more forgiving, although the vegetarian menu could definitely be revisited. On the basis of our experience, we would not go back or recommend.
