Per i nuovi ricchi
What we enjoyed most was the service and the exquisite presentation. Of the 8 courses we had, about 5 or 6 were quite good, and the remaining were OK. We did not order wine and we understand that is one of the strengths of this restaurant. However, it is easily possible in Sacramento to spend half as much at restaurants such as Water Boy or Ella's and get food of supreme quality. So if Allora is catering to the wealthiest in Sacramento, and especially to those among the wealthiest for whom wine is of paramount importance, then they are on the right track.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced for Sacramento!!
During my recent visit to Allora, I found the overall experience to be somewhat underwhelming. While the restaurant boasts an upscale ambiance, it was lacking in certain aspects that ultimately left me feeling disappointed. First and foremost, the pricing of the food at Allora was significantly higher than what I would consider reasonable. The dishes on the menu appeared to be quite exaggerated in terms of their cost compared to the quality and portion sizes. It felt like I was paying a premium for average fare. Furthermore, the atmosphere at Allora left much to be desired. One aspect that particularly stood out as lacking was the absence of any background music. This created an awkward silence throughout the restaurant and made the dining experience feel somewhat dull and uninviting. On a positive note, the service staff at Allora were attentive and polite. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made efforts to accommodate special requests. However, these positive interactions were not enough to redeem the overall mediocrity of the dining experience. In conclusion, while Allora may present itself as a high-end establishment, the overpriced food and lack of atmospheric elements such as music left me feeling unsatisfied. It is my belief that there are better options available in the area that offer a more enjoyable dining experience at a more reasonable price point.

Incredibly warm, attentive, personable service. I could have asked for nothing more. Obviously run by lovely people who are probably lovely in real life apart from the time spent at the restaurant, where they are getting paid to be lovely. You can't fake some things. Including wonderful food, which there was an abundance of. It was a beautiful evening and my wife and I are so very grateful.

From greeting to exit … a truly magnificent experience. We celebrated our anniversary - and the service, food and drinks were above expectations.
Be the first to ReplyGood food and service. Desserts missed the boat.
The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. We all choose the three course meal. The appetizers were very good. The seafood stew was well prepared with a light tomato sauce. The lamb was excellent. The wine list is superb. One of the best in Sacramento. The only bad was the desserts. Just trying to hard. The carrot cake was strange and we are all foodies. The donuts were the only dessert that was worth it.

Incredible dinner experience at Allora. Every course was absolutely delicious and well worth the (admittedly steep) asking price. Wait staff was able to recommend the perfect wine to pair with each course, and the meal hit the perfect balance of traditional technique and fun, playful, modern twists.

We have dinner here for my daugther-in-law's birthday. The menu is your choice of three course or four course and five course. The 6 of us chose the four course which includes these items, Polpo, Beets+Burrata, Fettuccine/Lobster, Agnolotti, Bucatini, Black Cod, 72-hour Short rib and for dessert, Torta Caprese, Bomboloni. Every dishes was very delicious and the staff is excellent
Be the first to ReplyPay $600 for the privilege of being asked to leave your table because people are waiting
Booked Allora for dinner with another couple, knowing we would be paying $95 for a 3 course prix fixe menu. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and assigned an attentive, masked waitress. The first cause for concern was the menu - diners can opt for a three, four or five course prix fixe menu, or mix up different items from crudités, pastas, entrees, but some with arbitrary $10 charges added on and not everything could be selected as one wished. Confusion reigned. Once the food started coming out, including some complimentary hors d'oeuvres, the overall dining experience was satisfactory, although the portions were smallish and the short rib I had was close to flavorless. At this point it is important to note that the courses took time to make their way to our table. When we finished coffee and dessert and paid the $600 bill plus the mandatory gratuity and kitchen equity fee, the four of us continued our conversation for what could not have been more than 5 minutes. Then a managerial staff person suddenly appeared and after breathlessly asking how our meal was she said that there was another group of patrons waiting to be seated at our table and that we needed to leave. Now she was as gracious as she could be under the circumstances, but after spending what we did and after having to wait between courses for inordinate periods of time, this was just bad form. We did not control when courses were served. If the restaurant overbooked for tables it did not have or made promises to walk-ins about when they would be seated, that was not our problem. We left without a fuss but were taken aback by this lack of courtesy. Further management training is highly recommended but I will not return to Allora anytime soon to find out if such training actually happens.

There is little that one can add to the wonderful reviews here about Allora except to say this was our 4th meal here, coming 7-8 months after the last one to wait upon a menu change. As always the somm (whose name I forgot, my bad) was as gracious and as helpful as can be, consulting with my daughter (who has the taste buds and nose of youth unlike her folks) for both a white and red to enjoy through dinner. This time an 'ancient' version of gazpacho, white, nutty, no tomato, fantastic; the polpo was as usual something one could eat daily and a dish celebrating the last of the morels this season. A long drawn out gnosh through the pasta and main dish finished the night. I cannot say enough good about this restaurant - it is head and shoulders above anything in Sacramento to date and can easily stand proudly with the best in the Bay Area. Truly a real treat.
Be the first to ReplySpecial occasion Spot in Sacramento - great Food and service
Allora is a Foodie/Special Occasion/Romantic Dinner Destination right here in Sacramento. My second time here for dinner; first time was just after it initially opened. Also have been here one time for lunch a couple years ago.
The food and service has been absolutely perfected since my last visit. I’m not sure I have experienced such perfect service and restaurant in very long time.
We had a party of four all participants in the $120.00 each 4 course Prix Fixe meal. It was a special Social Media announced BOGO Special Night Everything was spectacular, however I could not imagine eating here for full price unless I hit the lottery. There is at 23% service charge (pre discounts) added to the already high prices, which takes the place of the normal gratuity, although the bill asks if you would like to leave additional gratuity too. With taxes added on you are looking at your meal costing about a 1/3 more than listed price and if you add on cocktails you are dropping some $$$.
The pulpo was better than the last time I had it and it was incredibly good then. The beet salad was one of the largest and best I have had and I make it a point to get beat salads often. The dishes that were less than special were the risotto and desserts, but they were tasty.
Artistically beautiful and delicious food!
We felt special as soon as we entered the restaurant and were greeted by several of the staff. Throughout our meal the staff was attentive, but not intrusive. Highlights, Polpo (octopus), Branzino (Sea Bass) , Lobster Fettuccine & panna cotta w/peaches. Loved the special touches, fig sorbet to clear the palate, a sample appetizer bite while we had our cocktail and at the end of our meal a blood orange jelly treat! This is a dinning experience that we’ll always remember!

I was taken here as a gift for my birthday. When we arrived we were handed personalized menus with my name on them! First impression....nice! Business casual is fine here, it's not stuffy. The service was the next thing that I noticed. It was incredible! From the hostess at the door, to the waiter, the busboy and the sommelier, they were all extremely helpful and professional. All of this was great, but the FOOD! Outstanding!!!! Everything was perfect! Everything is explained perfectly so there are no surprises when you get your food. This was a great experience, I can't wait to return!!!!!

I liked this restaurant; my husband will never go back. I am delighted by unusual food served in an elegant manner. He said it was too frou-frou for him. The waiter was condescending and acted as though we were too stupid to figure out what was on the menu. I edited a food magazine for 6 years—I understand food. My husband was asking me what I thought he would like…and the waiter interrupted to say he would be better placed to answer that question. So…we'll try somewhere else for our next eating adventure.
Be the first to ReplySuperb Italian
After two dinners at ALLORA in Sacramento, there is but one thing I have to say: this is several steps above nearly anything nearby in terms of quality of food, excellence of presentation, depth of the wine list (Italians), and service. This is almost experimental Italian, refining old classics represented on the menu to perfection. If a car analogy would pertain, if classic Italian joints nearby were FIATs, this is a Maserati. The high tone of the food and the presentation is on the order of a starred Michelin restaurant: decorative, like eating from a piece of artwork, and perfect in taste. One needs to linger over each course, tasting each component, then in toto, to see what is actually being presented. The menu is divided into 5 parts: starters or crudi, antipasti, pasta and risotto, secundi or entree and dolci or desserts. This is offered in 3, 4 or 5 course menus, you choose and then choose from the menu to fill out your selection. The food is so rich and good that unless you are truly hungry, the 3 course menu is sufficient (and you can substitute a pasta, for example, for the entree if desired). The crudi are extra over the menu unless you do the 5 course. The service takes its time according to you, no rushing whatsoever. The sommelier is well versed in her ample collection from numerous Italian regions and serves as a great help to choose wine/s for the meal. Rarely does one find so many interesting wines from Italy in one spot. Curious about two, I was given tastes to determine my interest, which speaks to their focus not only on what the customer desires but their pride in their list. The bar itself is also deep and full of interesting things one rarely sees outside of Europe. All this said, it is not an inexpensive meal by any means but if you wish a superb - and I mean this intentionally - meal, you can hardly do much better in the area, if indeed at all. The restaurant is a modern look, no red tablecloth Italian joint here! There is also an outdoor terrace which is a delight in the warming weather, although with boisterous people it can be rather loud and distracting. Some sound muting effort on the brick walls would be a good addition. Very very highly recommended.

Be the first to ReplyA dinner experience to remember!
We were celebrating our ten-year wedding anniversary at Allora. I can only say that going there is not just having dinner, but having a true dining experience. The service was far beyond expectations and the food was incredible. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting celebrate a special occasion. Expensive, but the food was beyond compare. Fabulous!
Even in the time of heightened precautions, they made us feel safe and comfortable as we dined on their outdoor deck.
Amazing food, wine, and service! Allora has it all!
My husband and I have eaten at Allora's Italian Restaurant several times and have nothing but accolades for the food, the service and the ambience! We frequently eat out and Allora's is one the two or three restaurants we enjoy immensely - including the French Laundry in Napa. And during this current Covid-19 pandemic, we have enjoyed their take-out dinners immensely!!!

What a fabulous experience at Allora last week. From the top down this place is top notch. Each of their friendly helpful staff complimented our outstanding specially prepared menu. Any occasion in the Sacramento area should include Allora.
Be the first to ReplyTerrific service, cool midtown vibe, awesome food
These guys hit it out of the park for us last Friday night. We had a largeish group which is sometimes a pain for both customer and servers but they handled us incredibly well. Special shout out to the friendly red-bearded server/bartender (whose name escapes me) - makes an awesome cocktail and great sense of humor. Sat in the outside dining area, cool modern feel: lots of brick, steel & glass retractable roof. Whole patio was hopping but didn't feel crowded. Food was also great, we did a broad mix of family style items, pasta was my fav. We'll be going back for another holiday adventure soon!
