Amba Cleveland Reviews from The Last Year
Such a cool, sexy vibe.
Great for date nights. I love the decor and how dark it is. I tried five different cocktails and they were all so unique and tasted really good. Our bartender was super cool & informative.
Flavorful food and drinks, with great ambiance.
A perfect date night option in my opinion, but keep in mind that they do not take reservations.
The most beautiful and unique restaurant I have ever had
The most beautiful and unique restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to visit. I felt as though I was transported into a swanky NYC restaurant. The ambiance really allows your senses to enjoy each flavor incorporated into the thoughtful dishes. Cocktails were also incredible.
Amba DELIVERED, after wanting to try it for so long.
We went on a Saturday night at 8:00pm and the place was buzzing. It's darker inside than I was expecting but loved the ambience. It was long wait for a table for a walk-in, but they have first come, first serve seating in the back with 2 bars available for bar seating. My girlfriend and I split a few shareable plates - Chicken tikka masala, popcorn chicken, gluten free flatbread, and spicy chili. Everything was excellent. We were impressed with the quality of both chickens. We will be back for more visits!
Amazing addition to Cleveland restaurants.
The food is high quality and has great flavor. The ambiance is a little dark but overall makes for an interesting vibe. The service is always fast and prompt. Just make sure to get there early for a seat. Would recommend the zucchini we get if every time
Delicious food marred by abysmal service.
Writing as we sit, ignored, wondering whether the final of the dishes we ordered is on its way or forgotten. Haven't spoken to our server since we ordered. Coursing was poor; the forgotten (maybe?? If I disappear, it came and I'm eating paneer) dish was intended to accompany clay bread. Instead, the bread arrived long before anything else and sat cold. Even the explanation and ordering process were poor. Server was indifferent and seemed out of it. Too expensive not to enjoy the meal, wouldn't return. Food really was fantastic though! Host was lovely and attentive.
This place is absolutely amazing! One of the best dining
This place is absolutely amazing! One of the best dining experience I have ever had. We have ordered & loved: - cocktail : a9 amba mini (the best alcohol I have ever tried. It's essentially tequila that's infused with herbaceous flavors and ginger) - clay bread - chili crisp (spicy oil for topping food with) - herbed raita (creamy yogurt dip) - fried zucchini (ask for extra sauce lol. literally best vegetable I've ever had) - samosa (good, but wouldn't go out of my way to order again) - popcorn chicken (very good, nice staple to get especially for picky eaters in the group) - rice pilaf (delicious, helps to bulk up the meal for a lower price) - pineapple cucumber salad (banging, underrated. Absolutely would get again) Looking forward to to trying (have been highly recommended) - warm cashews - lentil donuts - crispy puris Tip on seating: the 'bar' is the entire back room (including the tables that aren't near the bar). You have to walk through the restaurant all the way to the back room (just past the bathrooms) and all of that area is seat yourself / first come first serve. It's a great option if you don't wait to join the waitlist and didn't make a reservation ahead of time
Amba has quickly become my go-to dining spot in Cleveland,
Amba has quickly become my go-to dining spot in Cleveland, offering a truly unique experience that's perfect for any occasion, whether it's a romantic date night, a girls' night out, or just a casual dinner. The ambiance sets the perfect scene with its low lighting and elegantly cozy interior, matched with an exciting menu of small plates that arrive freshly prepared in no particular order, adding an element of surprise to each visit.Their cocktail list is nothing short of stellar, but the mini Amba steals the show as the standout drink. For food, the fried zucchini is an absolute must-try; it's one of those dishes that leaves a lasting impression on your taste buds. I always ask for an extra side of sauce - I'm a big fan of sauce, and frankly, I think they could be a bit more generous with it for this dish.If you're looking for the perfect culinary trio, trust me on this: order the clay bread, herd raita, and chili crisp. It's a combination that I find myself craving constantly. Every friend I've introduced to Amba has been enchanted, insisting on returning whenever they're in town. If I had it my way, I'd dine here for every meal. The one caveat to this otherwise perfect dining experience is their no-reservation policy. Arriving after 6 pm usually means waiting upwards of two hours, even for just a duo. That said, there's a silver lining: the back section offers bar seating along with a few first come first serve tables. Despite the wait, Amba's allure is undeniable, making every visit worth the anticipation.
I wish Amba had a way to make reservations as having to
I wish Amba had a way to make reservations as having to wait in line for 1+ hour can be a lot on a busy night. Although, I appreciated the link to view where we are in line. The crispy puris was good as was the chickpea fritters, but it could've used a little more flavor. Service was decent. The chicken tikka and lamb kofta took at least a half hour to come out. The chicken tikka was good, but would've been great if it wasn't burned. Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate burned food with the already high prices. The lamb kofta didn't have much flavor and didn't taste fully cooked either. The beet yogurt was good. The waitress didn't come over after we started eating our main meal and took awhile to come by after we got our food so we had to call her over. But it was a busy Saturday night so I understand things can be overwhelming! Overall, decent experience and decent food, but quality of food can improve either in flavor or ensuring the food was properly cooked.
Wow! This is the second time we've gone here - really
Wow! This is the second time we've gone here - really really great variety of small plates. We love both Amba and Zhug for the atmosphere, variety, and absolutely amazing food. Both restaurants don't take reservations so be prepared to wait if you're arriving during dinner hours. Amba is a dark, romantic experience with Indian inspired dishes that are so unique and delicious. They also have a great variety of gluten free options! To share between two of us, we got the chickpea fritters, popcorn chicken, Turkish fried eggs, and lamb kofta with a lovely Pinot noir off the wine list. We got the Chocolate torte to go! Everything was surprisingly gluten free and absolutely delicious! An absolute must try!
I went to Amba on a date night and was generally very
I went to Amba on a date night and was generally very impressed. The restaurant has a slick, Scandinavian-feeling decor, with modern feeling furniture, dim lighting, and lots of right angles. The wait staff was universally friendly, and even though the restaurant does not take reservations, we moved through the line quickly. As for food, we ordered: -Pineapple/cucumber salad -Chickpea fritters -Paneer (served on a bed of lentils) -Crispy puris -Clay bread (aka naan) The food also comes with the restaurant's signature "Amba" sauce, a tangy, spicy mango based sauce that pairs well with pretty much every menu item. For two people, this was more than enough food, and the portion sizes were generous. My favorite dishes were the perfectly balanced salad, which included jaggery flavored peanuts (excellent touch) and the the crispy puris, a sort of elevated take on the classic Indian street food call pani puri. I would order them again in a heartbeat. My least favorite dish was the chickpea fritters. My date and I found them to be a little too salty and quite dry on the inside--like the texture of dry falafel. We found ourselves scraping the bottom of the amba sauce and tamarind sauce that came with the dish (both delicious) so that we could drown our fritters with flavor and counterbalance the dryness. I would not order these again. The paneer was very interesting! The paneer cubes themselves were heavenly. Perfectly spiced, soft, chewy, and rich--exactly what good paneer should be. The daal (lentils) was also incredible. It reminded me a bit of how Ethiopian lentils taste. I'm not sure I agree with the decision to plate the paneer and daal together, though. While very aesthetically pleasing to see individual cubes resting on top of the daal, I don't think the textures go well together. Part of the joy eating of well-made paneer is the texture of the cheese. When you add lentils to the same bite, no matter how good the lentils are, they necessarily subtract from the experience of the paneer. I would serve these as individual dishes rather than trying to combine them! As for the naan, it was good! Not the best naan I've ever had, but also not drowning in butter and garlic. The texture was firm enough to support the various dips and sauces that came with our food, yet still soft and chewy like naan should be! Overall, 4/5. I'd come again, but I wouldn't order the chickpea fritters.
The vibe is cool, it's dark and they have modern mushroom
The vibe is cool, it's dark and they have modern mushroom lamps on the tables. I like the fried zucchini, rice, and tiki chicken. The service was good. My drink was okay but it didn't come with a pretty garnish which I would expect for a place like this. We ordered all 3 desserts. Everyone loved the mango one on a stick. This is good for a girls night or date night.
Fancy, romantic, sexy setting.
Shareable, interesting, fun menu. Lots of options, great for a night of conversation, first dates or nightcaps.
Great menu with a lot of variety.
We chose to go with four rounds of food and probably should stuck with three. Everything that we had was excellent as was the service. Only complaint is the noise level inside. We sat outside and it was very comfortable.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
