Decor and ambiance is A+ but the restaurant was a bit chilly. A couple of the other customers and I were still wearing our jackets inside the restuarant. However, the food is just like any other average Szechuan food out there. Started the meal off with the "Scallion Pancake" which was good, the sauce was sweet and the pancakes were crispy. Ordered the "Sui Mai with Tea Smoked Duck" which was pretty salty, wasn't worth the price to be honest. Sautéed string beans was also good but too salty. The Dandan noodle was fresh and good. The Dongpo pork and crab fried rice was actually my favorite but it was also just... average in my opinion. However the price for the entire meal was extremely fair. If you want good asian food around Brooklyn, Antidote is worth going to due to it's price and it definitely does reflect what Szechuan food is supposed to taste like.

This food was sooo delicious! Beck, our waiter, was so helpful and fun -- we had a great date night here. Absolutely coming back for the crab fried rice and crab tofu!

2.5/5 Finally got the chance to try antidote and I wasn't particularly wowed by it tbh. Pros - very extensive menu with a ton of options! Really liked the shrimp dish because the shrimp was large, juicy, and had a ton of flavor. Also liked the baiju cocktail! It had a lot of different flavor profiles that blended together in a good way. Portion sizes were also large! Also the interior design was very cute and cozy. Cons - I think they went for presentation over flavor a lot of the time. For example, the blossom fish was DROWNED in sauce - yes it looked cool but it felt unnecessary and just made it overly saucy. The Dan Dan noodles had a great flavor but were kind of cold when they came out. There wasn't enough crab in the crab tofu and it was a little overly egg yolky for me.

We got a bunch of things to share but everything was just ok to me. I didn't love the texture of the crab tofu, and the duck had a whole lot of bones. The main thing I liked was the sesame cold noodle. Also our cocktails were very good.

4.5 stars! The restaurant has great vibes, very romantic with plants and beautiful lights. We were sat down next to a wall with a row of travels for 2. I think these tables are too close together for my preference but that's NYC for you. The staff also sat the next party of 2 right next to us when there were so many other tables on either of our sides. My sense of space might be different from most New Yorkers. I got the baijiu cocktail, and it was refreshing. The food was also amazing. I really enjoyed the crab tofu. The rib eye cubes were good too but I expected more spice for sichuan restaurant. The service was good. The staff was attentive, they kept asking us if we were done eating, even though there were a lot of other empty tables. The restaurant accepts reservation and would be a cute spot for dates or groups.

food here was yummy and up to my chinese expectations! everything was well seasoned and perfectly textured. you can rely on this place to serve you right! ambiance was cute but very LOUD. my friend and i got so tired of yelling at each other. it was def an ouch to the wallet so i prob won't come back again for that reason since I think there are more reasonably priced options that deliver similar quality of food.

On a Friday evening, I walked in and tried to put my name down for a table for two but all the tables were supposedly booked for the entirety of the night. Walk ins were only allowed at the bar area. When I returned an hour later, we had to put our names down for a 30-40 minute wait at the bar. By 7/8pm, the restaurant was incredibly busy and jammed packed. The ambience of the place is definitely phenomenal with the lighting and decor. There's also jazz music on Wednesday nights. Once we were seated, the servers were all pretty nice as well. In terms of the food, we got garlic peashoots, twice cooked pork, and crab tofu. It is worth noting that rice does not come with the dishes and are $2 each. My personal favorite was the twice cooked pork but everything was pretty good. I liked the flavors of everything but will admit the pork was a bit oily and the peashoots could've used slightly more flavor. While the prices were a bit on the high end, the portions were quite generous and everything we ordered was more than enough for two people.

I had the pleasure to dine at Antidote tonight, place was busy, but our waitress Beck made us feel like we were the only ones there. Food was fantastic and large portioned, drinks were equally tasty. Beck suggested and explained a few food and drinks items and didn't disappoint, she did an amazing job considering how busy the place was. I will definitely come visit again next time I'm In the area.

Service was fine, ambiance was excellent, but the food was meh. We had the ribs (tough), the pork & crab dumplings as well as the pork dumpling (mild flavor), and the fried rice with shredded duck which tasted burnt. I definitely wouldn't come here again to eat, but it's a cool place to meet for a cocktail.

Everything here is incredible! From the ambiance, to the service, and to the food. Highly recommend the pork soup dumplings and the bok choy! They were table favorites. They just added the fries to the menu and they are amazing. Best fries I've ever had. 100% recommend just ordering everything and anything off the menu, you won't be disappointed.

Love it here! The menu is consistent with really good staples like the Kung Pao Chicken, but they have fun specials and new items all the time. The drinks are creative and cute. Plus the service is amazing! Wish they had a coat rack though lol would highly recommend! Thanks Lewis!

Be the first to ReplyDined here for my sister's birthday dinner.
I loved the restaurant itself - the setting was very cute and cozy (plants and hanging lights). The food was really great!! My favorites were the dandan noodles (spicy), cucumber salad, and green beans. The cucumber salad was one of the best I ever had. The other dishes were really great as well. The service was amazing. The staff accommodated adding another seat at the table. They also brought out other dishes for a peanut allergy. It was really nice of them to consider that! They also gave dessert baos for her birthday! Would definitely return again!

Food was so good didn't have time to take pics food came out so fast too. I love this place almost as much I love all the monstera. Top 3 dishes: dan dan noodle and eggplant w garlic sauce, feihong spicy prawnCocktail: I got "in my mind". Clean and delicious
Be the first to ReplyIt's been a cold March.
What's better than dim sum?? That is rhetorical. Suffice is to say I, a completely obsessed creature of habit, will be a regular guest. Sine qua non of such cuisine is the holy trinity. Dumpling, fried rice and spicy, gut busting plates. I won't even try to make a recommendation on the later two, all are strong in their own way. BUT PLEASE! Order the tea smoked duck! See photo.Atmosphere is stylish, service is spot on and value is sky high. Complete endorsement.
Be the first to ReplyHad an interesting dinner at Antidote.
We came for the live jazz. It starts at 6:30 (not 6, which is what the website claims). Totally fine. The industrial space provides for an interesting decor, but the acoustics are far from ideal.Food: We had the mapo tofu and fish fillet with chili oil. Both were delicious. We also had a preserved egg, which was a unique (and colorful) appetizer to share at the beginning. Note that the spice level can be a bit on the stronger side. Also got the pea shoots.Service was quite impersonal but relatively efficient. The reason for the two-star review has to do with an uninvited discovery in one of the dishes (and the subsequent reaction). I kept chewing and chewing to the point where my food wouldn't break down. When I spit it out, I realized it was a piece of black plastic. I immediately flagged someone down to show it to her. She was understandably apologetic and of course took the dish off the bill. When I asked for an explanation as to how this happened, I was told that the broken piece of plastic belonged to a takeout container. When I asked why it would be in the middle of my cooked food...hidden to the point where I couldn't see it...I was simply told "I don't know."After putting two and two together, we came to the grim realization that they are using leftover food and reheating it for diners at the restaurant. That's quite disgusting. This might happen at a lower quality restaurant, but I wasn't expecting this at a place like Antidote. Moreover, I question the sanitation of the restaurant if proper protocol/hygiene isn't even followed for very fundamental food service.

I had dinned at Antidote over LNY this year, and it was a great experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality by the owner. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with red lanterns and other LNY decorations, which added to the festive ambiance. The menu was extensive and featured an extensive variety of Szechuan dishes. We had both a vegan and gluten-free guest in our party and the staff did a great job of notifying us which dishes could be accommodated for them.We started with a selection of appetizers including bok choy, wood ear mushroom salad, and cucumber salad, which were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. The wood ear mushroom salad was a must-have.For our main course, we ordered a variety of dishes, including golden fish filet, green peppercorn fish stew, and feihong spicy prawn. Each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor, with the perfect balance of spices and seasonings. The favorites were the spicy prawn and the peppercorn fish stew (recommended only for the spice lovers as the green peppercorns are spicy!).To top it all off, we ordered a selection of desserts, including a egg lava buns and the rice ball with red bean soup, which is a sweet glutinous rice cake. The desserts were a perfect ending to a perfect meal. The service was exceptional, with friendly and knowledgeable staff who helped us navigate the extensive menu and made recommendations based on our preferences. Overall, I would highly recommend Antidote for any special occasion or just for a delicious meal. The attention to detail and the high-quality ingredients made for a memorable dining experience that we won't soon forget.

The food was creative , but held on to some of the classic appeal that this style of Chinese food can offer as far as flavor complexity.Try the cold peanut noodles . Amazing !!!! Soup dumpling also a hit ! Our server was attentive, and funny which always adds to a dining experience. The interior was well balanced with cool modern aspects and plant life. What a cool spot . Well priced too

Hot tip: this place is open during brunch hours (noon onwards) and not crowded!I've visited two times to dine here, and both times the quality of the food surpassed expectations - solidly the best szechuan place in the neighborhood.- Cucumber salad (4.5/5) - don't underestimate this, it's perfectly crunchy and well seasoned.- scallion pancake (5/5) perfectly crispy with the best dipping sauce, so yummy.- feihong spicy shrimp (4/5) great flavors, wish it had a bit more of the salad component but overall a delicious (and messy) dishI'm pretty sure I got the golden fish last time I was here and that it was really good but I'll need to come back just to make sure. From what I remember, desserts weren't memorable but nice.Ambiance here is lovely, and service was good too. This place is now a go to for Szechuan for me.
