Lovely lunch
We enjoyed our family lunch - the food was lovely and the service was friendly. The baba ganoush was particularly nice.

Absolutely amazing fresh food really good service. This is a little gem in Selly oak. The food is fantastic, very fresh and tasty. The place is super clean and very cozy atmosphere
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, well priced
Wonderful restaurant hidden out of sight, so unless you know it's there or it's recommended you may miss it. The flavours are awesome with the cooked perfectly, this is a definite go to place
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food
Excellent food . They have adapted by having more variety than just Persian ..which is amazing but very delicately spiced . I have eaten at other authentic Persian restaurants and I think that the food at Paprika gives more choices and is tasty . Well done
Be the first to ReplyIncompetent booking system and staff!
I telephoned the restaurant on 8 February and booked a table for 6 people for 25 March. They couldn't accommodate 7.30pm but said we could have 6.45pm - all booked no problem. As it had been such a long time since my booking I rang the day before to check all was still ok for the following day. Whoever answered the phone confirmed everything was fine. The next day (day of my booking) I had missed a call from an unknown number (no message left) and I rang the number to discover it was Paprika. The man (different to the one I spoke to the day before) asked if I could now attend the restaurant at 7.30pm - 7.45pm. I said ok that's fine (it was actually what I had originally wanted) and I said we'd be there for 7.30pm. He then repeated 7.30pm to 7.45pm but he put the emphasis on 7.45pm as if that was better for them. I pointed out that I had rang the day before and everything had been ok and asked if they had double booked. He became very vague mumbling that people can book on different sites (sounded like double booking to me) and said they were trying to accommodate everyone. Not once did he apologise and at this point I was starting to get a bad feeling. I ended the call confirming we would be there between 7.30pm- 7.45pm and he said yes 7.45pm would be great but if we wanted to arrive at 7.30pm that was fine. At this point I knew there was no point going in until 7.45pm. Just before 7.45pm I entered the restaurant ahead of my friends to check the table was ready and could see a table of 6 and a table of 4 was free in the restaurant. I walked up to a waiter and announced my arrival. He looked a bit confused, I referred to my call earlier in the day. He told me they were expecting me at 7.15pm! Three men huddled together looking at a scrap of paper pinned to the wall. One of the men (presume the manager) repeated they had asked me to come in at 7.15pm. I told them this was not the case and politely told them of the calls yesterday and today and that I was very clear of the time I had been told as it was referred to several times. They just all looked at me repeating 7.15pm. I asked which one I had spoken to on the phone and one of the men said it had been him. I told him I was very clear of the time and said he had never mentioned 7.15pm. He looked sheepish. As you can imagine I was feeling pretty frustrated at this point but politely stood my ground which was difficult standing amongst the diners in such a small restaurant. The presumed manager with a black eye suddenly said "well where's the rest of the party then" and became quite challenging and defensive. I said they were a couple of minutes behind me as I had come in to check the table was ready due to the call earlier. I didn't like the attitude of the manager and the bad customer service and told them not to worry and that we wouldn't be eating there and proceeded to turn and walk out. The manager was saying we can sort this out but to be honest they just didn't seem to understand why I would be annoyed and they didn't seem to care, I felt like I was the one in the wrong! The manager was calling after me but I continued walking out, the last thing I wanted was to impact on diners enjoying their food. The manager followed me out in quite a challenging manner and continued to call after me in the street and prolong the conversation and twice I turned to tell him we wouldn't be eating there and to leave it and he eventually gave up. In the end we all ate in the Country Girl next door. Many of our family and friends have eaten there before (including the ones we were with) but said they won't eat there again. Shame as the food is supposed to be nice and there are some good reviews but the fiasco with the booking makes them look like they don't know what they're doing and they came across as incompetent and rude. Strange way to run a business especially in these times.

WOW!! What a beautiful place. The outside doesn't do the place justice. The inside is gorgeous and quaint. Persian Sausage to start followed by chicken ( Japanese and Mexican) and lamb kebabs which were all delicious. The Saffron rice was to die for, thought nothing could top it, until we shared the warm Baklava and Persian Ice cream ( created by Boss), simple but mouth watering. Staff were fantastic, friendly and welcoming. A perfect example of a small business that you have to support. Thank you for your hospitality.

Beautiful food, fab service, lovely staff! An intimate, authentic, family restaurant. The staff could not do enough in answering our questions regarding gluten free food. We struggled to choose which dessert to have; we were brought 2 to sample and paid for one! Long live your restaurant! Thank you also to the person on another table who had birthday cake and shared it with us!

I googled this place and went there on the ratings and now itโs my favourite place to eat. Iโll be back again and again. Thanks for your amazing meals.
Be the first to ReplyYummy!
Yum yum yum! Back in Birmingham from the NE after 3 years away & just had to visit our favourite local. A busy night for them & a waiter down, but a wonderful warm welcome, smiles all evening, and *the* best food in the area in my opinion. Chicken beautifully moist & flavoursome, light fluffy rice & lovely sauces.

After a day of work in a city/area we were unfamiliar with, and one friend with an aversion to spicy food, we found this gem. Beautiful, tasty food. Excellent, friendly service. At a very reasonable cost. Well worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyPoor service and average food
We called them as the food hadnโt been delivered which was already 20 minutes late, and was advised they were busy in house as well as with deliveries. They said they would deliver within the next 15-20 minutes and would send free drinks for being late. I called them again after 30 minutes and was told the same thing about being busy. The food arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes late in the end, and with no free drinks.
The food was nowhere near as good as the reviews we had read either.
This is the first time we had tried Paprika Restaurant, and it will also be the last.
Very poor service!
Excellent
Haven't been for a while due to covid etc. Glad to see food was still delicious. Loved the few added bits rp the decor.
Was served by 2 lovely young lads who were running the place. They were efficient, polite and friendly.
Lovely evening and meal
Lovely Persian food
On a recommendation from a colleague we have eaten here twice and really enjoyed the different food. They serve traditional Persian grilled food in both meat and vegetable versions. The food is served with a choice of freshly made flatbread, rice or chips and is very tasty. There is a good mix of vegetables with either garlic or spicy oils and the is a choice of meat skewers with different flavourings. The starters are good and the baklava is very lovely. The restaurant is licenced but does a range of fruit juices and teas if you prefer.

Great restaurant with fantastic food! We loved the aubergine starter!!
The service was excellent and we will be visiting again for sure!
Great delivery and high quality, just canโt wait to visit in person...
We have visited this restaurant before COVID many times and always enjoyed the great food and kind hospitality. To be honest, I did not think that using the takeaway service would match up. However, the food is fresh, beautifully cooked and finished and always arrives in great condition. Recently we we have strayed from our usual order of Ghafghazi mixed kebab and rice to try the seabass. Again I wasnโt sure that it would travel well, but it was done to perfection. We have to give a big shout out to the Olivieh salad, which I think is like a Russian salad with vegetables, potato, chicken and a tasty dressing. And I keep asking them to make enough salad dressing to put in a bottle so I can buy it, itโs absolutely delicious. Superb food and such variety, is helping us survive in lockdown. Delivery service is immaculate. But canโt wait to see you in person. Thank you for all your efforts.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent cosy restaurant!
I could not fault the service provided at this restaurant to me and my family when we dined there on Saturday.
Not only did I change my arrival time on a number of occasions, but our table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived early.
Very accommodating staff members who bent backwards for our little kids, and the food was absolutely divine!
A+ restaurant and members of staff- thank you so much for making our visit a wonderful one
Not worth it.
Ordered from here during lockdown as they had w big 50% off for NHS staff and it was a place that i had been meaning to try.
I was annoyed then when on the phone the man stated that it was only 50% off one dish and the others were full price - this was not stated. I was even more annoyed when the man behind me, who seemed to be friendly with the staff, received 50% off his entire order for being NHS.
The food was not amazing. We ordered a fish dish which was dry. The chicken kebab was average. The hummus was actually delicious. Overall a very average meal.
