Amazing food and super cozy ambiance.
I got there right when they opened and the place was empty but quickly people started to trickle in. I had such a wonderful meal. I started with the arugula salad and they were nice enough to make it a half portion. I also had the pasta of the day. So delicious I forgot what it was called but so delicious. The pasta was so perfectly cooked. It had a bite to it. I usually feel super full after eating pasta but I didn't feel like that afterwards. I actually had room for dessert. I had the olive oil cake and it was amazing. Overall super amazing meal.

Everything was perfect and as advertised, pasta was home made and I loved it. The server was next level and I would highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely loved this place.
Everything on the menu is delicious especially the arugula salad (sounds boring but I promise don't skip it)- it's like an upscale Caesar that we talked about for the whole meal. We tried three pastas and the standout was definitely the duck ragu papardelle but you can't go wrong with any. We may skip the verde mushroom next time just because it was the least favourite of the three just to try something else. Would skip the olive oil cake as we didn't fancy it but we heard great things about the other two we didn't try so we absolutely will when we come back. The service was SO attentive, my water glass was never empty and they weren't too intrusive when asking for feedback either. I really would travel far and wide for this place and will recommend anyone to get a reservation as it is small and packed. Always a good sign.

. was not disappointed. The service was great. The restaurant was cozy and intimate, perfect for our Xmas dinner. The way my bf and I ate.. literally every bite we took we just sat in silence and nodded our heads like ".. yes.." we didn't want it to end and even considered getting a THIRD pasta LOL my expectations were super high, and they were definitely met

Everything we had here was absolutely delicious! Came here with high expectations after seeing this spot listed as Matt James' (The Bachelor) favorite place to eat in 2023, and I was still completely impressed. Service from our waitress was also impeccable! My favorites from the night included: - Arugula & fennel salad - so simple, fresh, and delicious; lemony with a bit of crunch from bread crumbs - The FOCACCIA that comes with the mussels - Pappardelle - Chocolate torte Make sure to make a reservation if you can because this cozy restaurant only has 15-20 tables. If you go early, you can put your name on the list and head to grab a drink nearby.
Be the first to ReplyVery pricey, but excellent.
We visited Ask to Luigi for a special occasion, and it delivered. Food: 5/5! My favorite dish was by far the seafood pasta. It contained briny seafood and uni sauce, over squid ink pasta. The chicken liver, rabbit, and mushroom pastas were also great. I loved the and noodles and sauce flavor depth in each of these dishes. Atmosphere and service: 4.5/5. It's pretty loud in the restaurant, and sometimes I struggled to hear the waitress over the neighboring conversations. However, I love the lively vibe and mood lighting -- the decor is chic and intimate, while remaining classy and modern.
Be the first to ReplyWe had an amazing lunch here.
Our server was fantastic. The vibe of this restaurant is like eating in someone's home-but in the best of ways. Homemade pastas and sauces. The best. Period. I think we ordered all the desserts. Haha. Really, really perfect. I was visiting Vancouver from Los Angeles and I felt like I found a Vancouver secret. Yup. Telling everybody.

Excellent food, possibly the best Italian food I've ever had. The ambiance is warm and cozy, the service is top notch. You feel really cared for. It's one of the few places in Vancouver where you feel you've gotten your money's worth.

Super awesome experience. The perfect blend of fine dining meets casual comforts

After reading reviews online about the homemade Gluten Free pasta - I decided to wander in here with a friend of mine when I was in town. I did not make a reservation because they said online they encouraged walk-ins. We walked in a couple minutes after 5pm as a two top. We got the last two top. Our server was amazing and educated. The space is quaint and homey. The tables are cramped but spacious. This is a legit homemade meal feel. We shared an arugula salad and I ordered the Wild Boar Ragu. I was assured everything was Celiac safe and the food was bonkers incredible. Eating here was an experience for us. We absolutely loved it and I would encourage anyone who loves pasta and wants a small homemade Italian meal to visit this place. Bravissimo!
Be the first to ReplyFor being so popular, not sure why.
I kept bumping the gentlemen next to me because the tables are so dang close (less than 12" apart). Zero ambience, just a room full of people. Service was okay. Server didn't welcome us, ask us if we had been in before, or go over the very small menu. She did state specials, but to be clear I still don't know what her name was. She coursed our food appropriately, but at the end of the day, I don't recommend and won't be back.

Such a lovely restaurant with great service and delicious food! Be sure to make a reservation because this restaurant is full at all times! We stopped by for lunch and ordered two pastas and dessert to share. We got their most popular ragu pasta of the day and the rigatoni alla bolognese. The pasta were made fresh in house and perfectly cooked. The sauces were rich and delicious. The panna cotta had a great vanilla bean flavor to it and was the perfect texture as well!

Service was impeccable, food great and atmosphere tight but cozy. Looking forward to returning.

Service, atmosphere and food was great! The gluten-free pasta was the best I've ever had. The torte was also amazing. Will definitely be going back.

In the cutest little building, tucked away in an industrial corner.. you will find the most amazing Italian meal you've had in awhile. Pasta is perfect, drinks are fun.. it is tight & cozy in there, dimly lit. A gorgeous atmosphere, especially on a rainy night. 10/10 recommend!

I went for Carbonara di Luigi served at lunch time and hands down best pasta I tried in restaurants. Their coffee is great as well. When heading out, we found out that someone stole our umbrella that we left on entrance. Was a rainy day so the stuff gave us a free umbrella to cheer up!
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely LOVED our dinner here.
Small, quant with an old school feel. The staff and the food, both first rate. I had the bolognese and it was incredible. You will not be disappointed.

AMAZING MEATBALLS @askforluigi 305 Alexander St, Vancouver, BC*@askforluigi is a cute small business located near downtown Vancouver that is one of Sam's favorite spots for pasta. Outside of the pasta being al dente and sauces being flavorful, their main showstoppers (in my opinion) are their meatballs. I know what you're thinking, how can meatballs make such a strong and memorable impression? But let me tell ya, these are bomb . *You can either order it as an appetizer or as an add on entree. We got the appetizer that comes with three meatballs in marinara sauce and served with two long pieces of garlic bread. The meatballs are juicy with decadent meat flavors and spices that paired well with the sweet tomato sauce. Not to mention, the garlic bread to soak up all the leftover flavor . *Honestly if we weren't full from everything else we ate that day, I would've ordered another order of the meatballs to eat all over again . Highly recommend making a reservation a few weeks in advance as they are competitive to get a reservation . #eatswitherinn

Ask for luigi used to be my favourite pasta place back in 2019 but it is not anymore. After 3 years exploring all the pasta places in Vancouver, including di beppe, cioppino and lupo, i finally understood more pasta and italian food and the culture of italian food. Ask for luigi is definitely a good place for pasta so do not get me wrong. It is a just a different class. Ask for luigi is good for comfort pasta rather than the others like lupo which is upscale.Nonetheless. I got here and the meatballs, the cacio e pepe and the bigoli nero. The bigoli nero was better by far with an interesting texture; this is a more fusion italian pasta though. Good job for the chef. The cacio e pepe is a little bit creamy. I do make better cacio e pepe at home after perfecting it for 2 years i finally got to make the best cacio e pepe exploring different places for the cacio e pepe. Do not get me wrong; ask for luigi made good cacio e pepe; it was just not the best. Add more pasta to the cacio e pepe to mix the better ratio of the pasta. The meatballs were great but lupo did better. It was big and very flavourful i love it!! The bread just so so though. Anyway, ask for luigi is a really great pasta place. Very recommended. Cheers!

Yummy pasta and desserts! Their coffee is decent but on the lighter side, if you want stronger and asked for extra shot..they do add that extra shot but with extra milk too so it's not the same size with extra shot as we thought but just got a bigger glass but tastes the same so we were kind of confused. Other than that, everything else was great. The portion is great for sharing and the fried sandwich is a must! Perfectly fried and not too oily. Their pastas are flavourful and all very different. My favourite is the bolognese and my least favourite is the carbonara. Bolognese and the Pesto are unique and carbonara is good but nothing memorable. I love the poach egg idea because the pasta itself tastes great but with the running egg yolk, it gives you a whole other experience. The fried egg was a bit of an after thought in my opinion and isn't really adding much to the dish itself, other than extra protein. The olive cake and panna cotta are a must too! The olive cake isn't too heavy and the cream is light with a hint of olive oil. The panna cotta is thick and creamy in flavour but firm and smooth in texture. The plum sauce is tasty but not overly sweet. It's not my favourite Italian restaurant and I've had more memorable experience with pasta but for the portion and price and freshness of their ingredients, it's a good restaurant. Not my top 1, but is still on a list of recommendation for pasta lovers!

Have you ever had a meal so good that it puts you in a trance? Makes you feel like you're somewhere not in this universe. When we told people we were going to Vancouver, there was one place that was unanimously recommended- Ask for Luigi. We made a reservation, which we quickly realized was a must after stepping into the tiny, unassuming one room dining area that maybe seats 30 people at most. Our wine was served in water glasses and there was something sort of comforting about the fact that it almost felt like you were eating a meal in someone's home. That is, if that someone has the best, most amazing freaking chef cooking in the kitchen. The next 45 minutes were a blur. We got two pasta dishes- a truffle mushroom pasta and a red ragu. I don't think we spoke. We just ate, devoured and savored. We talked about this meal for the rest of our trip. I will come back to Vancouver just to eat here again.
Be the first to ReplyIf you plan on visiting, I recommend making reservations.
This small restaurant located at the edge of Gastown in a cute little white house. They do accept walk-in's but spots are limited since the restaurant is so small and most of the seats were taken while we were there. We were able to snag a 5 p.m. seating and there was already a line-up when we arrived at around 4:50 p.m. We were seated promptly and the severs were amazing in explaining the daily food and drink specials they had.We were feeling ambitious and ordered way to much food. We started with the Buratta ($26). This was probably my least liked dish out of all the items we ordered only because I felt it was too light tasting. Next we had the luigi meatballs ($26) and they were delicious. I loved how creamy the tomato sauce was and meaty and smooth the meatballs are. We then ordered Campanelle & wild boar rag ($32) and the radiatore verde & mushroom trifolati ($29).Both pasta's were delicious but I felt that Campanelle was a little on the saltier side so the more you ate, the more water you needed. I would recommend you ask the chefs to go lightly on the salt. The radiatore was the real winner. I can't even explain how delicious this pasta dish is! I loved the different type of mushrooms in the dish, along with the green (spinach) radiatore pasta. It was light, garlickly and mouthwatering. We ordered so much food we needed to take some of it home to our hotel and when we ate it again (cold) it was just as delicious.

This quaint spot on the corner is a casual & intimate Italian restaurant specializing in fresh, handmade pasta! Their menu required a bit of explanation for me so I went with the waiter's recommendations which did not disappoint! I really enjoyed both dishes - perfectly al dente & super flavourful! Not to mention, their service was exceptional and portions were generous & filling
