Good food, but very expensive.
I had the chips and salsa to start and the mushrooms in salsa verde as an appetizer, with the rice and corn on the side. The chips tasted fresh and the salsa was spicy and flavorful. The entree was savory and tangy, and I loved the slight smokiness of the rice. At around $50 for the meal after tax and tip, I'm on the fence as to whether I can recommend it, even though everything was very good.

Really nice set up. However, if you're looking for something that's a bit more authentic, this is not the place for you. I am not saying that the food was not good, it was just more like "whitewashed" Mexican food. The tables were kind of small but the food filled you up. This is more "eye-pretty" restaurant, rather than getting what you pay for
Be the first to ReplyBest mexican food in town by far, with friendly service.
Atla offers elevated Mexican street food. The quesadillas are incredibly authentic, the trio of salsas are worth it (authentic and spicy). I was born and raised in Mexico, and tried so many spots in NYC, none has the quality of Atla. It's underrated for sure.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is good, but not great.
And it is quite expensive. I prefer their brunch vs their dinner since there are some more "classics" available for brunch while the dinner tends to be a bit too elevated/modern Mexican for my taste. We ordered the barbacoa which I would probably stay away from next time, didn't have the flavor (was undersalted) I was hoping for and it is a big two person portion which limits the # of other things you can try. Cocktails are all very tasty (but again $$). It's a pretty small space but beautiful and simplistically designed. They now have a lot of outdoor sidewalk seating as well (heated).

Food was just ok, salad was over $24 for my mom, very very small portions, check was over $85 for 3 items. No alcohol. Not worth the price and we were still hungry afterwards. Went to my local Spanish restaurant afterwards.

Food was good, Ambiance Calm, Service Top Notch! Sauce was also really spicy yet sweet at the same time.
Be the first to ReplyMet a friend here during my visit to New York.
She made reservations on the patio for us week of. Beautiful interior, and it wasn't bad sitting outside. I was running late because my train was actually going the opposite way (*face palm*)... We got the mole and the Pork Al Pastor Gringa. It was my first time trying mole and it was rich and interesting-idk if I really liked it hut it was addicting to keep eating. The Al Pastor Gringa was tasty, and would definitely order again. Was cute, and would definitely visit again. Would love to try some other menu items!

I was a big fan of this place a few years ago, but recently the service has gone downhill. The last time I visited I consistently had to flag down the waitstaff to place an order, get more water, get the check, etc. despite being one of two tables at the restaurant with about a dozen workers. The pez milanesa is excellent, but no longer on the menu which is a bummer. I instead got the fish a la talla, which was solid, but unfortunately not worth the price. I really want to like this place, but the waitstaff made me feel incredibly unwelcome and I'd be hesitant to bring friends here because of it.
Be the first to ReplyI loved the decor and vibe of this place.
Very chic but also comfortable and colorful. For the price point, though, the food was not as memorable. The oversized chips served with the guacamole were dry, and the breakfast burrito was too small and lacking in punch. I was expecting way more!

Don't tell mom this mole is as good as hers!! Perfect portion size and balance of textures and flavors. Not too spicy not too sweet not too salty, just perfect!! We sat outside to enjoy the crisp air and rain. Their outdoor patio is covered and comfortable.

Modern Mexican for Your Mouth The Food: We weren't going for a full dinner so decided to do a few appetizers and tacos. (Can't go wrong there?!) We ordered the Seafood cocktail (think ceviche vibes), Pork al pastor gringa (had a quesadilla feel), and a few tacos. If you are going for one taco, do the brussel sprout and spicy peanut butter one - super unique! I would come back to try more entrees and dessert as I feel we might have missed out on some yummy dishes. The Vibe: We came here for bites and cocktails on a Friday after work. Therefore, sitting across from each other at the extended bar was exactly what we were looking for. The decor is modern and minimal but the energy is alive.

5 stars for the food - the guacamole was the best I've ever had, the potato flautas al pastor were so delicious. The service was probably the worst I've had in the last few year in NYC.

Our second brunch visit and the food was even better- really like the new menu with tacos ( finally). The guacamole was simply excellent spiced just right with lots of herbs and colorful corn tostadas. Tacos were very good, their version of Huevos Rancheros hoja santa was excellent as was Pork al pastor gringa. Drinks - the margaritas were also to our liking not watered down at all with good quality ice. A bit on the pricey side but worth it.

I've dropped in here a few times and grabbed a seat at the bar. The spicy marg is a nice drink to go with the salsa trio. The glasses they serve the drinks in feel cheap as do the various non mainstream tequilas and mezcals that they carry. Honestly it's been just fine for a few drinks to pass the time or to take an edge off. One of the few spots in NoHo where you can walk in and grab a seat at the bar. I have not been drawn to their menu, so I've limited my stays here each time I've stopped in. Living in the neighborhood, it seems to be a lively spot - but it isn't totally for me. I'll definitely come back for more of the same - just wish it had more to offer on the food side.

What happened? Loved this place pre pandemic for the occasional lunch and somehow dinner the other night was one of the most horrific meals ever. Everything was just off and the cocktail size was skimpy? For a drink that costs as much as a half bottle of good mezcal; don't be so skimpy. Never again. Los Tacos number 1 is too close and much better.
Be the first to ReplyI don't get it.
Other reviews say it's cozy? Maybe if you like something totally sterile that feels like you are visiting a stone quarry. There's no warmth at all. Workers were friendly, but food was not tasty nor memorable.

Delicious food and cozy environment! We really like the potato flautas and the suadero tacos. The staff were really nice and able to provide recommendations and dietary accommodations for gluten free. Great spot for elevated Mexican food!We missed our train and were running a half hour late, and Atla was very accommodating! They let us adjust our reservation at the last minute without any difficulty. The restaurant is pretty small so it feels cozy, and on a Saturday night, every table and bar stool were filled so it had a fun, buzzy environment.
Be the first to ReplyA friend recommended this place as we were staying in
A friend recommended this place as we were staying in Greenwich village. It was a great option for us as it was walking distance from our hotel and there were plenty of vegetarian items on the menu for my husband. Atla is a tiny, modern space and it was bustling on a Tuesday night. We had super attentive service and our food was brought out in a timely manner. We started with the guacamole and there was the perfect ratio of tostada to guacamole. We shared the cheese quesadillas with mushroom and there was a crema sauce to put over it (it was my least favorite of what we ate) We also shared the flaxseed chilaquiles rojas and it was a large portion. The chilaquiles were firmer than other chilaquiles I have had so we ate them more as chips with our fingers. The outstanding dish of the night for us was the rice and sweet corn. It was a delicious sweet and moist rice almost like and Arborio rice and it had great flavor. I also LOVED the guava Aqua Fresca and I drank two of them. This was a good meal in a cool vibe setting. Drawbacks were that it was really loud in there, so not a place to have a quiet conversation and the quesadillas and chilaquiles were good but not the best I have had. Overall, it definitely had some great unique items on the menu and I would recommend it for sure.
Be the first to ReplyAtla is a Mexican Restaurant that serves as an All-Day
Atla is a Mexican Restaurant that serves as an All-Day Casual Eatery on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan. Atla is in the same area as Kith, Levain Bakery and a host of other places to hang out near SOHO, NOHO and the Village. Atla's cozy and laid-back atmosphere, simple decor and courteous staff made it a nice place for us to partake of a light bite / appetizer before heading to Negril Village for dinner dining. Atla has nice ambience and a cool bar space. Although we had no reservations, the hostess ensured that we were setaed promptly.Fantastic music plays in the background- pop, hip-hop, etc. When was the last time that I heard Deee-Lite's "Groove Is In The Heart"? before hearing it while dining at Atla...I honestly cannot remember-lol. It was great to hear oldies but goodies. We ordered Guacamole & Chips. Atla boasts via their website that they use organic, sustainable & seasonal ingredients to make their dishes. The Guacamole & Chips ($18) is served w/ Brown Chips and then we also ordered extra Corn Chips ($6). Such delicious chunky, filling guacamole full of so much fabulous flavor! I would return for more appetizers and possibly dinner if I am iin the area.Atla Hours of Operation- Everyday from Noon-11pm w/ the exception of Sunday which is from 11am - 5pm. Honestly don't be put off by the prices : the food is amazing, totally worth it and shareable. The short rib mole was as good as anything in Mexico, and the drinks well served. Service was professional and thoughtful (honestly don't understand the bad service reviews). Keep going!
Be the first to ReplyFood was good but the service was extremely slow.
We ordered apps and then tacos, and we had to ask three times for the tacos, which showed up about forty minutes after the apps. A forty minute wait for an 8 dollar average taco? No thanks.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced, boring food.
Ate here for the first time this week. Guac was okay. Quesadillas were tasteless. Slab of cheese and mushrooms in a tortilla. Nothing to brag about. It was cold and had no flavor. We waited 30 minutes for that? Drinks were okay but again nothing to brag about. Tacos were better than quesadilla. Overall disappointing!
Be the first to ReplyStill excellent.
Most recent trip, we got the pan dulce assortment, al pastor gringa, potato/cheese flautas, and chilaquiles rojos with poached eggs added. The standouts for me were the excellent cookies (chocolate chip and I believe a white chocolate macadamia) and the concha in the pan dulce assortment (we could have done without the donut and bear claw), as well as their incredible salsa macha, which I was putting on everything and almost ate the entire serving. I'm not exactly sure why, but I feel like our last couple visits have been somewhat less other-worldly than pre-COVID -- hard to point to anything specific, but it's just a feeling. And obviously it's a very expensive place, so the standards should be high. But we still really enjoyed it.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my second review of this place.
My first review was 3/5. I had noted that everything we had was quite mediocre except for one dish - the arctic char ceviche which I thought was excellent and would return to get.So I came back just to have this and surprise, it is no longer on the menu, and it is replaced by a striped bass ceviche. It was not nearly as good as the arctic char version. The sea bass is less fatty and flavorful than the arctic char. Sea bass is a tender but neutral-tasting fish that is popular with french tasting menus for highlighting very buttery sauces; I think it is less effective than the arctic char for ceviche. I'm aware that sea bass is a typical fish used for ceviches but I just think that they ruined a great thing by removing the arctic char from the menu.I had also come back forgetting how bad the margaritas were. $18 for a margarita that's highlighted as their signature cocktails so I assumed they were good, but they were mediocre and one-dimensional in flavor, and I feel like they add a lot of liquor to hide that. Food and drink aside, the ambiance of the restaurant is quite good, especially during the daytime. The restaurant has glass walls so it gets a lot of rays of sunlight that make the inside very sunny and pleasant.

I had heard so many rave reviews and after trying Cosme I was excited to try Atla too. Went for Sunday Brunch with a friend, we had a reservation but were 15 minutes late, luckily the table we had reserved was still being used. We were seated 20 minutes later. We had the bread basket to start, the concha was my favorite, super fluffy and tasted like orange blossom. Honestly the bread basket is the only reason I would go back.My Friend had a Paloma and I had the horchata latte, both were just fine. We ordered chilaquiles, I got the verde and she got the rojos. In all honesty the flavors were really forgettable, as someone from Mexico the flavors lacked seasoning. They both needed salt and were just fine. We didn't order anything else because we were just so underwhelmed by the food, the ambiance was pretty chill. Loved the vibes but the food was very underwhelming; and the experience was just a fine experience. The prices don't reflect the flavors of the food, go to Cosme instead.
