It was my Lyft driver that highly recommended this place.
He said he and his family come here often. He is from Nepal. I always get Korean fried chicken next door at Mad for Chicken and never tried Bajeko. Our server, Tsering, was so sweet. All of her recommendations were spot on. For drinks, I got the masala tea and the mango lassi. Actually, I had 2 mango lassis. I ordered 1 order of the bone soup. It's made from goat bones. Our server split the soup in 2 pots so both me and husband could try. It was a bit salty but flavorful. The spices were good. You can feel the slight burn in the throat...in a good way. I felt like it warmed my soul on a cold rainy day. We wanted to try both steamed and panfried momos. Originally, we were going to order the steamed chicken momos but our server recommended the goat momos. They were delicious! They were so juicy, some juice on my clothes. Yes, I'm a slob. For the panfried momos, we did order chicken. I couldn't tell if the momos were spicy or the sauce. The red sauce is spicy, the yellow sauce is milder. I liked the steamed goat momos and my husband liked the panfried chicken momos. You get 8 momos per order. By the time we finished the momos, we were almost full. For the entree, we ordered the butter chicken masala. It smelled so good with all the spices and flavors. It comes with a pot of basmati rice. We also ordered a side of garlic naan and was way better than Trader Joe's garlic naan. The sauce is so yummy, we dipped the garlic naan in the sauce and ate it. We were so full, we had no room for dessert. We will have to come back and try other dishes. This place is good for groups. We saw a lot of families eat here. We found metered parking right outside the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant itself was very nice.
You could tell they take very good care of it. They had my to-go order ready when I had it scheduled so I was happy. The food I had was alright. The chicken was flavorful and went well with the puff rice. There needed to be at least one more side to give moisture, that or at least increase the serving size. The first thing to come to mind when I looked at the container and the amount I got was "airplane food." The portion was laughable for the price. It's NYC yeah but it wasn't life changing enough for me. I'm rounding up with 2.5/5 stars.

Service, food, ambiance 10/10!!! Minoosh (I apologize if I spelled his name incorrectly) and the staff were so kind and always checked up on us. Our water and wine were always refilled and our food tasted AMAZING! We shared 4 dishes among 4 of us and we all noted how good the different curry dishes tasted. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in Sunnyside.

When I sat down at my table and saw the photos on the wall, I knew this place would be good. I was clearly the target audience for this place, but that might not apply to everyone (some people are prudes). If you are a prude, don't look at any pictures, just stare at the wall or tv. They are fine too. The food is really good - tasty but not oily. The dal bhat is the traditional Nepali meal, and it's fantastic here. Also tried momos and biryani, which were very good as well. I'm not Nepali, so can't say how authentic the flavors are, but I can say I like the food better here than other Nepali and Indian restaurants in NYC. Service is very good. The staff are knowledgeable about the food and were able to answer all questions. I don't write reviews of places because I can't articulate well beyond I liked it or I didn't like it, but I really liked this place. If you're not a prude, try it and you might like it as well. If you don't like it, that's ok. It will be less crowded for when I'm there.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a great experience here a few weeks ago.
I've had Nepalese food before, but I'm definitely not an expert. We shared a few dishes between two of us and had leftovers to bring back home. Although everything was yummy, our favorite was the Jhol Momo. Prices are good considering the size of the portions. Staff were friendly, attentive, and informative when helping us decide what to order. The space is quite big and nicely decorated. I would definitely come back for more if in the area!

This was on my list of places to check out in the neighborhood since I live so close by and have never been here before. It was empty on Monday night, but as it got later on in the night, people started to come in, and it started to fill up. I'm wondering if it's normally like this on a weeknight. If it is, that's great! The service was great either way. Even though it got busy, they were still very attentive. My friend and I got the Cheese Naan, which was similar to a quesadilla (because it is filled with cheese and has the same texture). I enjoyed it a lot. We also ordered the jhool momo chicken dish. This is like a version of dumplings in this sauce, which made the entire dish salty. I wasn't too fond of it. We also tried the khaja set (non vegetarian). I couldn't eat all of it, but there was a mixture of nuts, vegetables, and meat. The one thing I really enjoyed was the cheese naan. I may have to try and explore other things off the menu to see what else I like at the restaurant.

As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in a village in Nepal with their clay stove display. Very typical. The service was good one of the girls in our party (name starts with an Nis...and ends with a ma) thought one of the servers was cute lol. Food was very authentic and tasted exactly as I've tasted it in Nepal. On top of that the items on the menu you don't just find at just any Nepali place.. they even had bhuttan and tauko. If your are from Nepal or been there you know what I'm talking about. If you're not, you have to go and find out(be open minded). I honestly have not found another nepali restaurant this close to home like this one. So glad we made it to Queens just for this. Vibes!!!!!

This was my first time trying Nepali food and it was a pleasant experience! The service was quick and the waitresses were very friendly. They had bollywood songs playing in the background and overall, the food was pretty similar to Indian food but the flavor profile was a bit different. We tried the steamed momos which were DELICIOUS and paired really well with the sauces that were provided. We also shared the goat dal bhat. It was essentially a thali with rice paired with a goat curry, cauliflower curry, dal, pickle, etc. The curries were on the sweeter side and I honestly would've preferred a bit more spice but regardless, it tasted great.
Be the first to ReplyI went here tonight.
It was okay, but I won't go again. It was early so there weren't many people. Service was kind of odd. Maybe one of the servers was new. Decor was also spartan and odd. There are illuminated display spots on the wall with nothing in them...just lighted cubby hole areas with blank wall. I ordered Timmure chicken and both servers kept asking me if that's all I wanted and were suggesting additional dishes. I couldn't tell why, but eventually I realized the chicken dish I ordered didn't come with rice or any vegetables so they were trying to say it wasn't a complete meal. I ordered some garlic naan which was okay. Rice or potatoes wouldn't have made the chicken better. Butter chicken or tandoori chicken would probably been better choices. The chicken came right away. The club soda I ordered came afterwards and the naan eventually came when I was about 1/2 done with the chicken. One of the servers asked me if the chicken was too spicy, which it wasn't for me. I just wasn't super hungry so I ate 1/2 and took the rest home. There are plenty of other places to try in the area that are probably better. It was close to where I'm staying which is the main reason I chose it.
Be the first to ReplyHad been wanting to try this popular spot for a long time.
The paneer chili was delicious! Such a perfect texture and flavor. The chicken jhol momo here was good, but the jhol surprisingly spicy. I was struggling! I'd come back to try other dishes.

Of you want a typical Nepali food, this is the place to go! No frills but excellent food. Make sure you are hungry - you will end up ordering a lot because you want to try all. We ended up going to this place twice in our three days stay in NYC.

I saw some of the negative reviews so was little unsure how it would go. But I've come several times now and it's been a great experience. I recently had the Vegetarian Dal Bhat (see picture), and tasted excellent and authentic. I've had meat dishes on prior occasions and they've been good as well. And of course, the Rasmalai was solid too!The service was excellent. My server was particularly nice and remembered me from the last time I came. She offered good advice on what to get, whichhas always turned out well. Lots of space and nice bar setup too. Overall worth checking out!

For those of you who haven't tried Nepali food, this is a great spot to start. We had Dal Bhaat, the veggie and the goal choices. It's a bit like Thali, for those who know the Indian version. A full meal complete with rice, lentils, veggie or meat , depending on your choice, and some chutney (radish) and spicy sides. Topped it off with a couple of kingfisher beers. All in all, a nice traditional meal. The servers were attentive and Nepali music accompanied the fare. It's also bottomless (or bottom full?) eating, meaning that if you gobble up any of the dishes they will top them off at your request. Only thing is, it makes you tired. If say perfect comfort food but maybe not before you go out dancing...

Ok i usually dont like to write reviews but i had to given im from Nepal and i think i have a right to let people know if the food represents authentic Nepali food. I ordered the chicken dal bhat(thali) which is pretty much what we eat for lunch and dinner every day in Nepal. It is hard to mess up given we have to cook it every day. My first issue was the chicken curry(soup). It was an over salty and soupy mess that contained more water, skin, organs and bones than meat as you can see from the pictures. It seemed like they bought a whole chicken then used the meat for other dishes like sekuwa and dumped the leftovers into the chicken soup. My second issue was the bodi tama(beans and bamboo shoots) which contained 0 tama and only bodi as you can see from the pictures. This was also a watery mess with a hint of tama flavor. Maybe this was the bottom of the barrel leftovers or maybe they dont use enough tama. Either way they should have given another sabji instead if they were running low. My third issue is the aloo jira which i ordered as an appetizer but unfortunately had no salt. My fourth issue is the fact that this thali had three soups, rice, tiny bit of saag and some pickles. I have no idea what they are thinking when they put this dish together. Usually if you have a soupy chicken curry then you pair it with a dry sabji like aloo kauli. You dont add another soup like aloo tama on top of an extremely soupy daal. And if you have aloo tama as the sabji then the chicken curry should be more gravy like. Anyone unfamiliar with Nepali food might think that all we eat is rice with some salty soup. Anyway i hope this review gets to their ears and they rethink the way they do their thali.

Ordered from the recommended section and per the server's suggestion. I ordered the duck (Hass Ki Choila). The dish came out 10 minutes before my friends' and it turns out the whole platter was cold. On top of that, the "rice" had a texture of paper. My friends' dish was equally a disappointment. The saving grace was the goat dumplings which had a deep curry flavor and a good portion for its size. Without it, we both would have left hungry...
Be the first to ReplyI usually don't have patience to write review.
This place definitely obliged me to write about the taste and service. If you know/heard about Nepal this place is not to be missed. I am very picky about any food I eat especially my country food. So I can personally recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Nepali taste. And make sure to get some help from awesome manager if you have not been exposed to these kind of menu. Me and my wife will definitely be coming back again whenever we are in that neighborhood. Keep up the good job and preserve that taste Mr Baje!!!
Be the first to ReplyI pass by this place so many times when driving down Queens
I pass by this place so many times when driving down Queens Blvd. They had very impressive Yelp ratings and I surely had to finally try. I had the butter paneer for my son, and my wife and I got the Himalayan goat curry and the Tandoori chicken. Granted, I asked for mild on our dishes but to us, it was just alright. It didn't knock our socks off or anything. Having read the backdrop of the restaurant and all, we were definitely expecting more flavor profile and the food was just average. The Tandoori chicken was a bit dry and the presentation was lacking that appeal. My son didn't rave about his butter paneer much. As for the goat curry, the portion was amazing and it was pretty delicious and definitely got the star of the evening. We also got an order of gulab jamun balls for dessert (comes in three) which my son devoured. Each entree came with rice which they packed in their own individual clear plastic container. The staffs are extremely nice. All in all, we had an okay time but definitely had set our expectations of this place higher and wished each dish delivered that WOW effect.
Be the first to ReplyBig time neighborhood gem.
Is this really a chain based in Kathmandu? Either way, a lot of big hits on the menu, and I'm not talking about the Indian food.

I was in the area and thought I'd try something different and I'm so glad I did! I placed an order for pick up via Yelp (fulfilled by grubhub) and it was quick and efficient with minimal contact. Definitely get the momos!
Be the first to ReplyI was super excited to try out franchise based in Kathmandu.
The food was amazing and they had taken precautions for the pandemic. The service was great the food was amazing. If you get Thali you can also ask for more food. We got vegetarian thali, chicken thali and momos. Thalia come with a lot of side disused it's a lot of food. The server was very helpful. My friends and I had a great time. Please try their momos.
