I will say this, if you're going to dine there, don't expect to really talk to you table. Just sip on the drinks, eat the eats, and listen to the music and get wrapped up in the vibes. It's very loud, but that's the vibe they are going for with the live music to keep the energy up and people dancing. Just set your expectations out of what you will get from the outset and you'll be good. The place is super fun, lively Calle Ocho sucks you in. The drinks are delicious and fresh - highly recommend the coconut mojitos! The bands are always on point, with vivacious energy and sets the mood for the whole place. If you're celebrating a birthday, this is a great spot! They really DO IT UP with the celebratory touches of sparklers, high energy singing, and light show. The queso frito is some of the best I've had. Holy delicate cheese and guava sauce. We ordered multiple rounds. Great food overall, tasty dishes, and celebrating Miami culture. This is a fun spot and must visit in Little Havana.

Cause honestly who signs into yelp. Welp today I've crossed over because of this real "fun time" they call balls and chains. From south Florida and familiar with this place and it was complete BS. Not kidding cocktail was $20. $20! You can get cheaper drinks at LIV. We drove to the wharf on the river, And paid $14! Both sucked but we were on the water for the second one. The shear balls and chains of them. The bar tender at balls and chains made the drink like we are college kids in Daytona Beach pretty much just pouring a premix from an old milk jug of tap water and Ever Clear in a cup and moving us aside for the next piece of cattle from north of little haïti to buy their into their lack of authenticity. their restroom "attendent" in a 2 urinal bathroom sat right on top of the sink and played the I don't speak English AAAND Spanish game until you're uncomfortable enough to tip......then he understands what your saying. Even for here the lack of imagination or effort was impressive. Embarrassment to Cayo Ocho. Just a bunch of kooks from Ohio. Seriously from the bottom of my heart F this place in particular!

Amazing ambiance, fantastic music, delicious drinks and friendly staff. We also had some tapas that hit the spot. 5 stars to this amazing spot on Calle 8.

The drinks are delicious and the music bumps you right into Havanna feeling. Same like the service team.

Go for the music and dancing! We sat at the bar around 3pm and we're served right away. Not strong drinks but the flavor was really good. The food is VERY over priced. We had less than 10 maduros slices for $12. They add a service charge and gratuity.
Be the first to ReplyThis was the first restaurant we went to in Little Havana.
Nothing beat it! Such amazing environment and service. Delicious food!!! 100% recommended!!
Be the first to ReplyBall and chain is a fun bar, but not a fun restaurant.
It was too loud and the section for eating was very small and cramped. Where we were seated they had a stage light that constantly shined right in our faces as it circulated. The live music was good but more enjoyable if you are just there for drinks. The food was sub-par. The camarones enchilados tasted like they just placed the sauce on top of the shrimp vs cooking the shrimp in the sauce. The Maduros tasted like the frozen Goya version that you buy at Publix. Rice and beans were fine but that's hard to mess up. The tacos were okay but nothing crazy. The daiquiri was good. I would go again just to try more of their drinks.

Only had a glass of wine on a Tuesday afternoon with a friend. Happy hour

So loud that it's impossible to communicate with the server, and they take advantage of this by making mojitos that are all ice and adding a ridiculous service fee.

Use to it has been a great place and they re-opened after Covid but nothing like before! Back yard is no accessible anymore! So inside people are shoulder to shoulder and no space left for any dancing! No live music anymore! Just a DJ/Mixer! Their drinks glass are full of the small ice so literally they don't live any space for drink and you just pay for ice and a little drink plus you will charge %18 + %7 plus tax on each item! Means you pay %32 up to what you order! A simple glass of margarita will be $22 and wish it was any drink indie drink not %80 just ice! Hope they get back to what they were!

Be the first to ReplyThis place is very special to the area as it is considered
This place is very special to the area as it is considered a must see in Little Havana. There is lots of history and culture to soak in around the area. There is City street parking available that you pay for via an app and there is also private parking lots which can be quite costly. You can hear the live band as you approach the restaurant and the energy exudes from within. This is a great place to visit when in Miami or if you want to simply enjoy a great evening out with tasty drinks and a spectacular band. Of the drinks ordered, I'd say any of the guava cocktails are a delight. The mojitos were a little small for the price but they were okay. The wings and fries were pretty standard in flavor, they had a nice glaze but were a tad bit salty. Overall, it is a fun place to hang out and grab a few drinks. Even with the place being packed, the service wasn't compromised and I recommend visiting this South Florida landmark!

Walking on the street you can hear the live band playing from Ball & Chain. From that movement I knew tonight was going to be a fun night. The drinks were spot on, the guava martini was something I've never tried but the idea of guava and vodka is kinda like "how didn't I think of that". The old fashion was my favorite, instead of bourbon they used rum and instead of an orange peel as garnish they used a tobacco leaf, which was genius. The whole drink complimented itself very well. The service was extremely friendly and fun, they all had a smile and interacted with the guest which is always a plus. You can tell the bartenders knew what they were doing, because they were consistently putting out highly quality drinks fast, while also interacting with the guest. Overall, my experience was great and I definitely recommend checking it out as a tourist so you get a little taste of Cuba or even as a local to enjoy some great drinks.
Be the first to ReplyThis place will always have a special place in my heart.
..I am so happy to see its doors opened after a long closure due to pandemic Happier to see the place live and full of smiling people gathering to enjoy love music, delicious cocktails and food. Salsa classes at 9pm is the perfect excuse to get out home on a weekday and enjoy some fun exercise To enjoy the miami vibe And to plan the next return to keep enjoying this local place Did I mention the decor, and the outdoor patio? Do not miss the cozy backdoor

First opened in the 1930s, Ball & Chain takes you back to Havana, Cuba. Live music, delicious rum drinks, and salsa dancing. Ball & Chain is the go-to spot to dive right into the Cuban culture. The staff is attentive and ready to make your experience top tier!

They were great. There was a fun band playing which made it entertaining...the people watching especially. It was a fun casual place.

I don't recommend this place for the food or service But I'll give one star for the Live band, and the area is cute!
Be the first to ReplyWatch out - I'm about to make a declaration.
..this is probably my favorite bar in the U.S. It pairs so many of my favorites under one roof: Cuban eats, live Cuban music, techno/party vibes at night and beachy cocktails (delicious mojitos and pina coladas). I'm especially a sucker for when the music inside is party/tech and the courtyard music is AfroCuban - JACKPOT!During our recent visit we were able to enjoy a Pina Colada and soak in the live music. Note that this place appears to be bopping seven days a week. Not to mention that they offer live music seven days a week (check out their website for the schedule). You really can't go wrong visiting here any time of day. However, if you plan on visiting at night, know that it gets quite busy and the tables require reservations/minimums $$. I'm typically more of an Old Fashioned or Manhattan kind of gal but when in Rome...err Miami, Pina Coladas and Mojitos pair perfectly with the music and temperature. Might I add that the pina coladas at Ball & Chain are exceptional too.If you've made it this far in my review, you've probably gathered that I'm a big fan of Ball & Chain. Hope you also get a chance to sit back, soak in the music and good vibes...

Amazing food! Excellent live music & performances! Great drinks with natural ingredients -- loved it here! We were visiting for Miami and we came to Little Havana's famous Calle Ocho and stumbled upon this lively place. They could really use an English speaker in the front because at first some of my friends thought they were racist and wouldn't seat us -- but once my boyfriend started speaking to the hosts in Spanish, we realized it was just a simple language barrier. Just writing this because i would hate for that to be someone's takeaway from this place due to a miscommunication. We had really high quality service and I can't wait to go back. Would totally recommend to anyone that visits Miami -- it's an all in one: culture history and live entertainment with great food service and drinks !!

We went to the ball and chain and truly enjoyed the entertainment. kudos to the band and the dancers it was good. the Cuban sandwich was great and the salad was mediocre. what really stood out to us was how we ended up being double tipped. 18% tip is included and tge waitress asked us if we wanted to add additional tip. needless to say we didn't realize the tip was included until after we left. be careful not to double tip

In the heart of Little Havana in Miami is the Ball and Chain. A hip, and cool place frequented by locals and tourists alike. We were seated early for an 8 pm reservation on a Friday night. The music was banging, it was if we had walked back in time to little Havana. The chicharrones, masasitas de Puerco, , and chicken sandwich for elevated far above bar food. The creamy aioli was to die for and we ordered extra. The service was great. The band playing had the place jumping with some people up from their tables to dance. A must visit after 6 pm for a drink or dinner.
