Warning this place is closed! I came here and the doors were locked. Google and Yelp say it's open. I called and the phone number is not assigned. Terrible as I paid for 2 hrs of street parking.

Love this place - we passed an extremely pleasant Saturday afternoon here recently. A tranquil, comforting teahouse located on a quiet street, the interior is warmly but not ostentatiously decorated. We were fortunate to be seated in the cozy corner by the window, replete with cushions and sunshine. For anyone staying over an hour (definitely plan on this), the fee is $6/hour but includes unlimited tea and coffee, a small variety of board games, and a cup of seasonal soup. The selection of teas is not vast but very carefully curated, catering to all tastes. We tried the Earl Grey Rooibos (I was not a fan of the cinnamon tones), the Hot Kool-Aid (a bit too sour with sweet, fruity notes), and a custom blend before settling on the Milk Oolong which was (in my personal opinion) absolutely delicious!!! According to the staff, this tea comes imported from China and is actually quite expensive (can be purchased for $35/100g in the store). A light, almost floral oolong flavour with a gentle taste of milk - without adding any milk! Every 3.5g of tea leaves is good for 6 steeps and we enjoyed every last drop. Moreover, we were able to try several pots of tea without having to finish the ones we did not care for, so this is a great place for tea beginners to experiment and for tea connoisseurs to refine their tastes alike. When we first arrived, the place was fairly empty, so we received exceptional service. The staff came by specifically to let us know that we could order as many teas as we wanted and offer recommendations. An advantage of their pricing policy is that customers are obviously never rushed - we spent way longer than we originally planned here in conversation and left highly refreshed. P.S. I can't believe I almost forgot to sing the praises of the soup - on this day it was a potato and carrot soup and it was unbelievably good, like "what the hell can I buy this in bulk and have it everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner" kind of good. Creamy, richly flavoured and containing just a touch of spice, this was a most amazing soup. FYI - first cup is free, additional servings are $3/cup, bets on how many cups I had...

I used to go there all the time, but apparently there are new owners and the place is - with the lack of better words - gross. There was a guy wearing pearls and bathrobe who was constantly touching his junk. Like pervert style. I later found out that he's the owner. He was clearly drunk/high. Why do I need to witness this???? The cocktails were expensive and with so little alcohol in them!!!!!! And the worst part: the place was dirty!!! Like super dirty. Like how can it even be legal kinda dirty. At some point the place turned into a club and we were told that we need to pay extra money to stay because there's a live show. The entire place was a mess. Service was slow, nothing was working properly, whatevs. Not coming back.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a joke.
First of all, the place looks like it's only halfway ready to serve customers. The server was drunk and it wasn't the first time, because the business next door told me about them. When my food was served, their fingers had touched the food. It was so gross. Then they called my name wrong when my name is simply 4 letters. When I tasted the food, it tasted microwaved and there was a piece of their hair in it. It was a long black hair, so I assume it was from my server who happened to have their dirty finger nails touching my food. When I didn't finish my food and continued to sip on my coffee which wasn't that great either. Before I even got to finish my coffee, the same server asked me to move to the front because there was some event happening. I had already paid for my food. I don't need to be interrupted to physically move to the front. I'm not blaming the event that was happening, I am blaming bampot for the poor service and the complications that have effected my experience. When they moved me to the front, there were no available seats since people had already been sitting before I moved from my seating. I then had to stand and wait until someone left, when I finally sat down, I believe the owner came up to me asked me to leave because there was an event happening. At this point, I no longer want to be a customer there. Bampot has ruined my experience and I recommend no one else go there. Such horrible staff and service.

Bampot has a very relaxing vibe - lots of cozy little nooks with pillows where you can sit down, kick off your shoes and just wind down. The food here is vegetarian. I came in for brunch and had their eggs benedict - definitely a no fuss, simple take on the dish, but it was done really well. I like their many different tea pots and drinking bowls. They have a wide selection of teas and coffees which is great. The Unicorn's Blood was okay - not my fave but I'm sure there were better ones in their selection. The Nanaimo bar they had was good but it was $5 for a palm sized amount of dessert...I get that they got it from another bakery but still. Pretty pricey given the portion size. Also I was rather disappointed in their food selection. They used to have all of these hearty looking curry bowls and more elaborate dishes but now they're more generic and boring (i.e. sandwiches, simple pancakes and eggs benedict). Sucks that they don't offer those anymore because they otherwise would've made up for their other shortcomings. I would say that it's a bit pricey depending on how fast you drink your beverages. It's $13+ per person for unlimited teas and coffees for 2 hours...but at most you'd probably be drinking two teapot's worth of tea in that time. So that's like $6.50+ for tea. Service is friendly but slow. You need to go up to the front to order first, but then they bring you the food after. We waited 30+ minutes for our beverages but there wasn't even that many people at the time. Unfortunately having to get up, put your shoes back on and talk to the front is rather irritating and takes away from the relaxing atmosphere. They can definitely improve with more staff and/or upping their table services. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed. While they definitely stand out with their tea selection and ambiance, I wish they had better food and service. Hopefully they'll turn around soon.
Be the first to ReplyBampot review6:45 arrival.
Had a reservation and paid for the standard reservation (includes unlimited coffee, tea, and a bowl of soup). 6:55 ordered the 2 1/2 plates ($34) and 2 unlimited teas. 7:15 first tea arrived7:45 the other tea did not show up so I switched to coffee. 8:10 still waiting for food and after 2 hours you have to pay an additional $6 per hour to stay. 8:20 food finally arrived. The food was good. Left before the $6 extra hour charge kicked in. Front of house person did what they could do in the circumstances. Conclusion: Don't expect fast service or service at all. The front end person was extremely busy and did the best she could. This is poor management/ownership. More staff should be available for front of house. It's a cool atmosphere if you want to pay $13 for 1 tea as you won't be able to get it in time and drink it before the 2 hour time limit expires.Would I go back. Unlikely.

I was curious about the business model; charging an admission price for 2 hours of unlimited tea and a single cup of soup. After giving it a try, I can say that I have nothing but good things to say about Bampot. It is the perfect place to get work done, chat with a friend or get lost in a book. The atmosphere was extremely relaxing, and I felt like I could fall asleep at any moment. It is also fun and exciting to try so many different types of tea in a single sitting. I will certainly go back.

An all were great place to hang out and do some work, catch up with friends, or chill by yourself! My friends selected Bampot for my birthday, we had a set menu and the owner prepared a beautiful spread for us all. We first had a more savoury spread with sandwiches, crackers, homemade hummus - it all was so good and filling! (there was 5 and of us). Then a sweet spread came out with a cake my friends had brought in. Everything was made in house and delicious!! We also had the choice of 2 drinks each with our set menu (alcoholic, coffee, and tea based), so we all got to try a variety of drinks also!Overall great place and I am looking forward to visiting again!

I've come here twice with friends and had a good experience both times! The teas I've tried (Unicorn Blood and Raspberry Tea) were great. The waiters were also super friendly and helpful. Their soup was hit or miss, I loved it the second time around (it was butternut squash I believe).I'd recommend coming here before 3pm to get a nice place to sit.

It was so fun to try different teas, hangout, and play games. This place is so unique and special! Loved it!

Cakes are super super good, the teas are not very great since the new owner, but I believe he will get the hang of it soon. Very sad that the previous owners are gone. This place will never be the same without them

I LOVE this place! They hosted a high tea for my daughter's wedding, the age group was 25-91 and EVERYONE loved it! Alex could not have done more to make this incredibly enjoyable. The delicious food he displayed on the tables, the outstanding teas, the incredible attention he paid to ensure this event would be fabulous, and it was!PS: highly recommend the black licorice/mint tea, yummmmm!
Be the first to ReplyI really have no complaints for this place.
The food is always great and the tea is delicious! They give you a generous amount of tea which I really appreciate. The only thing that's annoying is that it's a bit expensive, but I understand why (everything is handmade fresh). I'd recommend an iced bam bam and one of their pizzas!

Walking into a series of living rooms, comfy, cozy, intimate spaces that invite conversations. Complete with service bringing you food and drink. That's what Bampot is like. It's a cool collection of different spaces that offer unique atmospheres ranging from intimate to lounge, to a little bit more formal. A variety of furniture pieces create the overall environment that feels like you're walking into a house. When I came here it was Winter and they had a trunk full of slippers so you could literally walk in another person's shoes, or in this case, slippers. I am not, nor was I at the time, particularly keen on this. Who knows how they are cleaned or sanitized. Now with Covid I am certain this is a change waiting to be implemented. The way the menu is organized is nice. It breaks down the types of teas offered. Whites, greens, blacks and herbal varieties. Describing pairings and what notes your tastebuds should be alerted to. The menu additionally expresses the food in a similar fashion. In a way that entices readers to order and try what items are of interest to them. I had this delicious dessert sahlep. Its Turkish. And it's a custard dish, with floral and fruity notes of orange, rose, orchids, topped with pistachios and dusted with cinnamon. I remember it being remarkable. Traditionally it is made from orchid roots, which I found to be super cool. My friend had the Halva dessert. Another tasty treat.A house that you can tell is founded on the love of tea. The owner, I noticed has the logo tattooed on her body. It's pretty amazing that her and her partner have built and created this place together. They cook all the food themselves and they've put a lot of energy into creating an eclectic & interesting venue. For sure it has a hippy, bohemian vibe to it. They've got board games, crystals, quotes, tarot and wicker furniture. Among many other things. Unfortunately I found the service not as friendly as I would expect from a place with so much care and thought into it. The womxn partner seemed rather standoffish. This I found offputting. And as though she didnt enjoy my presence or really want me there, which is okay. I suppose. However, when I am a patron I do expect a certain level of appreciation for my business. Especially if the business I am supporting is directly owned by you. Maybe it was an off night for her? Either way, it didnt make me feel entirely welcome. This place is cash only
