Bandon Dunes Golf Resort Bandon Reviews from The Last Year
A true golf destination/bucket list!!! I came here in a
A true golf destination/bucket list!!! I came here in a group of 12 for 5 days and we were treated to awesome golf courses, great food/drinks and excellent customer service. From the moment we stepped on the property, we were afforded every accommodation and consideration. My golf experience was enhanced by having a caddie who was knowledgeable, friendly and great company. He learned my game after a few holes and was having me hit shots that kept me in the game. I highly recommend asking for Panther the caddie. He's somewhat of a celebrity there but he's just a regular guy. I will never forget my 5 days spent totally immersed in golf and good times.
Best golf experience ever!! From the amazing courses, to
Best golf experience ever!! From the amazing courses, to the phenomenal customer service at each operation, this is a 10/10 and a golfers dream!! Exceeded expectations by far!! Only $900 for three rounds of golf, three night stay, and 6 meals!! What a steal!!
Bandon Dunes = The Best The Best!
I spent 8 Days at Bandon Dunes in June and all I can say is these are the 5 best courses I have ever played and that says alot. I have been lucky enough to play places like Whistling Straits, Erin Hills, Sand Valley, Arcadia Bluffs etc and they are not even close to the level of the Bandon Dunes courses. Bandon Dunes is so good for so many reasons but lets first start with the golf courses. Each one is so different and natural elements of the land, ocean etc make them unlike anything I have ever played. The firm and fast conditions make them play like something from "over the pond". The caddies also add to the expereince and I would def take one if ya can The customer service at Bandon Dunes is an A+++++ and they understand how to treat guests they you would expect at a resort like this. Food and lodging are fantastic and the great thing about Bandon is once you are there ya never have to leave. You also dont need any cash as you can get it from the front desk of any proshop and they will add it to your tab.
Unmatched and unreal.
We hit unbelievable weather but even still, this place is unbelievable. Stayed in Lilly Pond. Beds were very comfortable and rooms spacious. Shuttles are very quick and drivers are great. I love how they don’t have their hands in your pockets. Coffee is free, breakfast sandwiches are huge and only $8. Ghost Tree restaurant is legit. Would have eaten here twice if I would have known sooner. The golf is 5 star. Each course is different and the par 3 preserve is so nice and unique. Our group of 48 had a private tournament on the punch bowl and I would recommend. We hit great weather for 4 of the 5 days It’s as close to Scotland that I’ve played over here and overall much better than Pebble experience. Can’t wait to go back.
Ideal golf vacation.
Remote rugged vistas or the Pacific Ocean. Friendly staff. Very helpful and professional. Good food 6 courses each with its own charms. Would highly recommend. The larger the group the further you have to book out.
Of course it goes without saying that the golf is
Of course it goes without saying that the golf is incredible!! But we went to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort with our husbands this time, and we were pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the trip was for us non-golfers. All of the staff was super friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The rooms aren't overly fancy, but they are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed all the restaurants - Forge was a highlight - excellent service and we were impressed by the steaks we ordered, they were delicious. The hiking trails were another nice surprise! There are a lot and trails are well marked and boast beautiful views.
Bandon Dunes Golf - greens conditions were deplorable
2 years in the making due to reservation backlogs. Finally, get to this mythical place everyone talks about. The vistas are outstanding. The courses are pretty good, but only Pac Dunes and Bandon Trails were complete courses (and in playable condition). Old Mac and Sheep Ranch were unplayable - the greens were a complete disgrace. Bandon Dunes greens were just acceptable. The resort never said anything about poor course conditions - no discounts, nothing... Caddies are really costly and all but one were really poor, not knowledgeable about how to hit shots into the greens, and reading greens - forget it. Service staff were great, food was pretty good. Shuttle service is great. Long, very tiring trip to get there from the east coast.
Perfect as usual
This was my 4th time to Bandon Dunes and it just gets better every time. I have no idea how anyone is rating the complex anything under 4 stars. The golf courses are all amazing. Yes, it's a difficult place to get to but that's also what makes it special. If you want great food, then go to dinner somewhere nice. Bandon is all about the location, views and camaraderie that you get from a kick ass golf trip. All of the food I've ever had there is well above average. The Old Mac breakfast sandwich is a home run and there is nothing wrong with the sauna and hot tub before or after golf. Better than Pebble Beach and Pinehurst any day of the week.
Overrated
I am an avid golfer with lots of trips under my belt. For years have heard how great Bandon Dunes is. I finally got there last week and....extremely disappointed. If you live in pretty much any other time zone, the travel to get to Bandon is extreme. Then when you get there, decent chance your room won’t be ready. The piece of property is beautiful. The golf courses? Meh. Just because golf was played on hard turf without much grass in the 1500s doesn’t mean that’s fun. And the wind is just exhausting. Restaurants are only ok. Our group of 8 had two caddies that were just not good. One didn’t speak English and the other had no understanding of golf etiquette. On a positive note my caddie Cody was great. I won’t return. I don’t get all the hype. Too much money and travel for what it is.
Your next stop after St. Andrews
Your next stop after St. Andrews should be the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. With six courses to choose, your only decision should be in what order to play them. The Bandon Trails is most like a conventional golf course although it only has one water hazard, the tall grass rough and plenty of bunkers is enough of a challenge. The first course established is Bandon Dunes, plenty of ocean exposure and the wind can blow. Pacific Dunes is always rated next to Pebble Beach in the best courses in the US and it won’t disappoint. The newest course is The Sheep Ranch. It is by far the most playable and the easiest to walk. I didn’t mention that unless you have 5 doctor’s excuses you will be walking, an average of 15,500 steps per course. There are great experienced caddies available, who primarily double bag it. The expected caddy fee is $100 per bag and a tip of $50 per bag, well worth the expense. The other side of the coin is the the food service which is good, but then you didn’t come all this way to eat.
Disappointing Stay Mediocre Golf Course
First problem encountered was where to check-in. Our room was not at the lodge or Inn. Eventually we went to the Inn and were able to check-in to the Lily Pond Cottages. The room was on the bottom floor with no elevator and only stairs down. While we are in good shape carrying a bag down a flight of stairs was no easy feat. The setting was picturesque and the room was large with a fireplace and a table with two chairs on the outside patio. The sliding screen to the patio was torn, so we were unable to leave glass slider open. The room had two beds both saging in the middle and extremely uncomfortable. The rug at the threshold was frayed and a trip hazard. The golf practice range was not in optimal condition. The grass for driving range was very poor and the putting greens had just been punched. Bandon Dunes condtion was a real disappointment and it's clear why they have not hosted a PGA event. Pacific Dunes was in much better shape and eminently more playable. Both courses had very poor signage, often leaving us searching for directions to next tee. The paths were atrocious and very difficult with a hand cart. Vistas unbelievable being right on the ocean. The food was very good and service was excellent. The bus service to go between lodging, restaurants and golf courses was excellent as well.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
