🙂 4/5 - Great stay, but not worth the price

Visited for 4 days, stayed at the Lodge, and played all the courses hitting Bandon Dunes twice. I ate at the Pacific Grill, McNeese Pub, and spent some time in the Bunker Bar. First and foremost the staff was great. I don't think I saw anyone that didn't proactively make sure everything was going well and offering their support. Really a friendly and fantastic job. The golf course were all great as well although the several of the rounds were unmanageable in length (over 5 hours). While they tag us with GPS, they didn't seem to have rangers on the course to move people along. This was frustrating given it is a golf destination and the signs indicated 4 hour target. They need to improve here. The Lodge itself was nice, but less than expected. I was considering bringing my wife (who admittedly is picky on the quality of hotels where we stay) but the lodge is fairly basic. I would would say that it is basic accommodations - not great, not bad. I would say the resorts marketing exceeds what it actually delivers, but don't get me wrong that is probably due to over marketing vs. any significant deficiency in the resort. The more significant drawback for me was the price for what you get. At $350 a round for your first daily round and $150 for your second, we are talking $500 per day. It is about $100 less if you stay on the property (at $320/night for a single queen). We had a discount which was good as my son was 22 yrs old or under so he was free and it was on his . I could see that cost for Pacific Dunes and perhaps Bandon Dunes, but they are essentially overcharging for the other courses. They are all nice, but clearly each course is not worth the same $500 per day per person. While the trip was on my son's "bucket list" he agreed that it was great but not really worth the full price paid.
