I love bastion
Bastion is the greatest. The little bar? Such cool speakeasy vibes. Sitting at the counter? Those chefs are so innovative. The overall vibes of the place? Unmatched.

Food was mediocre at best. Service was horrible. Definitely wouldn’t go back, so many other great places to eat in Nashville.

This is one of my husband’s and my favorite meals ever. Every course of the six courses was amazing. The bartenders were so nice and so was so was the hostess. The chefs were so friendly and perfectly explained their dishes. Andrew’s wine pairing was also awesome. The restaurant itself is such a cool cozy atmosphere. I can’t even pick a favorite course because they were all so good. We can’t wait to go back! I cannot express how awesome this place is!

They wouldn’t take a reservation for 1 online. And, when I mentioned that to the Greek Chef at the very excellent Cat Bird’s Seat he suggested that I call them. So, I did, and they did. I am glad I did not try my alternative plan which was to grab a bite at the bar. As when I arrived, I realized it’s not a restaurant bar. The bar itself is just an open area in a warehouse with a lot of young people standing around. The restaurant is in a side area that almost felt subterranean. The wait staff were friendly but not intrusive. The chefs are down to earth artists doing their thing which I appreciate as I am doing my thing which is taking pleasure in their unique creations. I am giving it the rare 5-star rating not because it’s the got the most refined wait staff (it doesn’t), nor because of its exquisite beauty (it isn’t). I am giving it the rare 5-stars because of the consistent uniqueness of the food and the flavor profile of the multicourse menu. Examples include a crab meat puff pastry with kimchi, (who knew that would work that well together), Horseradish ice cream on raw lamb, and Buttermilk ice cream on Tonka Bean Crème over oranges. They had a gorgeous little pumpkin, kumquat, herb thing: I don’t even know what it was other than a little piece of heaven. I had one of their clear cocktails (Her Queen’s Gin or something like that), and a glass of Alberino interim: perfect accompaniments. I hate to say it as I really enjoyed the Cat Bird Seat too, but for a lower price point ($200 with a cocktail, and a glass of wine, including gratuity), I preferred the food as well as the ambience of Bastion. As sure as Alice is in Wonderland, I will be jumping down their rabbit hole again when in Nashville, time-space reality permitting.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite bars in Nashville
As a local, it's hard to find a Nashville bar that isn't overrun by tourists and bachelorette parties. Despite this bar being located next to the SoHo House (which has a hotel), it has such an amazing local vibe. Fantastic Old Fashion and other drinks. Their nachos are lovely too!

My husband and I spent 3 nights in Nashville and Bastion was the best restaurant we tried there. We enjoy the chef’s bar concept and often try tasting menus, and we were highly pleased with the food, wine and overall experience. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The team was terrific, very attentive and congenial. I wasn’t up for the full wine pairing and the sommelier worked with me to select a couple of glasses that worked very well with the menu. The food was out-of-this-world delicious. It was creative, but not different just for the sake of being different ,and all of the flavor combinations worked. We would happily return if we get back to Nashville.

Excellent food, reasonably priced, cool vibe and friendly staff. We had the best chef’s table experience in a long time.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food. Nicely distanced.
The important things first:
The wait staff had masks that were on correctly and looked like the masks were made from appropriate material. The tables were appropriately spaced.
The reasons to be there most importantly:
The food.
Presentation and flavors perfect.
Wines!
Menu changes so won’t address specific dishes.
We just had a tasting menu
We just had a tasting menu experience post covid in the bar area, it’s still just amazing. This is the best dining experience in Nashville (we live here, we know), it was our third visit. If anything they are getting better. The service is impeccable and unparallelled in this town. The creativity and execution of dishes is hard to believe and on par with a 2-3 michelin star experience. Josh Habiger is an incredible chef and we hope he stays here in Nashville!!
Be the first to ReplyWe "shared it all" and loved every bite!
If you can secure a reservation at Bastion, go! Excellent food and a unique dining experience. My husband and I frequent new and raved about restaurants in Nashville, and this did not disappoint. In fact, this might be our new favorite for special occasions when we feel like splurging. This is a great date night experience. We opted to "share it all" and were so glad we did. The menu items we liked best were not the ones we would have selected had we each only opted for the 5 courses. Trust me, try all 15. We also tried the Fly Blind drink pairing which for $50 offered us nice pours of 6 different wines. From the 2/15/20 menu, our favorite menu items were (by course) the 1) onion & gruyere, 2) sunchoke & kumquat, 3) lettuce & whisky, 4) flank steak & butternut, 5) and I loved the banana & barley koji while my husband loved the chocolate & black truffle dessert. We left comfortably full, a little tipsy (in a good way), and truly delighted with our experience. We also spent some time in the Big Bar playing bubble hockey following dinner. An A+ experience all around.
Be the first to ReplyFirst Rate Cocktails, High Rent Rendesvous
Ok,so I co-opted the late great Russell Smith (the writer of the hit song THIRD RATE ROMANCE, LOW RENT RENDESVOUS).
Bastion is located in one of Nashville's hottest, yet almost still secret neighborhoods. Don't let the train tracks or the rows of industrial looking brick buildings fool you. This neighborhood is hot! And Bastion is even hotter.
Imagine a place in 2020 where the music is played from the massive selection of vinyl behind the bar and the bartenders actually know great songs to play (well, it's not called Music City for nuttin'!!)
Handmade cocktails, friendly and attentive service are Bastion's hallmarks.
Don't be the last to know! Visit Bastion ASAP!!
What a Treat
Sitting at the bar was everything we hoped it would be. Watching the chef's work was worth the price of admission alone.

The food is amazing, but the service and atmosphere is what takes it over the top! Truly an amazing experience and highly recommend Bastion if you are in Nashville!

Soooooo good! I cannot express how delicious and informative Bastion made the experience. I ate at the bar so I was able to pick the chef’s brains, they were all so passionate about cooking and sharing with others. Excellent food, drinks, and experience
Be the first to ReplyConsistently Amazing and Inventive
We chose to dine at Bastion to celebrate my brother-in-law's Birthday, after having sifted through dining options in several other close major cities; we were not disappointed.
Bastion offers a few different ways to enjoy your dining experience. We chose the tasting menu option and opted to try everything from each course. You can also opt to have the restaurant create a "feast" from whatever local options are available at that time of year. We haven't done this experience as it often involves pork dishes. You also have the option to sit at the chef's counter where you are able to watch the chefs create your meal.
The service is absolutely impeccable and the chefs actually bring each course to the table and introduce you to each item on your plate. It is very intimate and you feel that this experience was created just for you.
The food is absolutely incredible and inventive. The cocktails are amazing, and they have a fantastic Sommelier if you enjoy wine. Bastion is a perfect place to really wow a special someone for an amazing dining experience out on the town.
