Dinner for 2 on Saturday night. Online booking was fully booked but the lady on the phone kindly found us a table. Parking is a nightmare. We had to circle around 20mins before a place became available. The restaurant is situated on the first floor. There is no lift so beware for those wearing heels. The dining area is large with good lighting and a sophisticated ambience. However as became the obvious the chatter from diners was a bit loud. The wait staff are excellent and very attentive. We chose the tasting menu and two mocktails. As the venison wasn’t to our like we asked for it to be replaced with lamb chops for which we had to pay an additional 15£ each. The first few courses were good. Though a single scallop drowning in an overpowering sauce was unimpressive. However the mains courses of halibut, chicken and lamb chops were very disappointing. These were prepared bit of meat or fish probably boiled and then dipped in the most cheapest and predictable sauce. The sauce is something I’ve experienced in the worst Indian restaurants that trade in far flung areas of the country. Truly disappointing. The meat and fish were indistinguishable from mid grade supermarket fare with what appeared to be a 1000% mark up. The final main was a small single chop with small green paste. The dessert was a reasonable rasmalai (curdled milk dessert). Overall this was an underwhelming experience. The final bill of £360 for two people was too high even for a great experience. It dawned on us that this place was serving up very average Indian food to gullible Londoners who wouldn’t know the difference at an extreme mark up. I really can’t recommend this place to anyone. There are better outlets in south or north london. The three stars are for the wait staff who were very good.
