Was looking for a jazz club while in the city and found
Was looking for a jazz club while in the city and found this place completely by accident. The group that was playing was amazing! The bar was chill, sultry, and smooth matching the band that was playing perfectly. There was a fee of $40 for entry when the band is playing, and a $20 food or drink minimum. The servers were very attentive and the drinks we ordered were made rather well but we didn't get any food. The place is also pretty quaint, but comfortable. I'd definitely return pending the music playing at the time.
Be the first to ReplyIconic jazz landmark.
Saw Kurt Elling there twice. I went to the first show and sat at the bar and then had dinner at the best table in the house because I could choose my seat based on the show dynamics. Great choice.

I love this place! Hearing and seeing music performed live is great. They always have good talent . Food was ok- zero Service was pleasing and Ambiance is always amazing. Been coming here for years and that will continue. It's NY and Jazz at its finest!!!

The chicken sandwich was actually really filling and decent, it wasn't amazing and yes the food is overpriced for what it is- but you really don't come for the food, you come for the music. Fries were crunchy and perfectly adequate. My drink was decent too, I enjoyed the margarita I had. Sound quality was excellent, I went to see the Mike Stern band featuring Victor Wooten and the show was really great. Will definitely be back to Birdland again and keep an eye on the lineup, this is a club with a lot of history. Such a cool spot

First time at birdland tonight and it was AMAZING! Great music, food, ambiance, etc. Was most pleased with the staff and management. Manager Yovel was so sweet and accommodating (also so pretty?!!). Our server Mona was superr wonderful as well! Will for sure be coming again!
Be the first to ReplySuper cool and historic spot! The service was incredible.
We got a bottle of Prosecco for $50 and some desserts. There is a table minimum so be expected to pay that. I wouldn't recommend for a spot where you are wanting to chat with each other since it's recommended to keep chatting to a minimum. Great music on the night we went! Looking forward to going back.
Be the first to ReplyCome to this iconic jazz club only for the entertainment.
The food is terrible. Service was great. Get here when the doors open to get a seat.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a jazz club that offers live music, food and drinks.
The food was objectively good, the fried chicken was moist with great texture and well prepared sides. I would go back just for the food, because so many places overcook chicken. The servers were very attentive, and the food arrived quickly and hot. Overall it was a great way to spend a Saturday night.

AMAZING! Will be coming back every chance I'm in New York City. Jazz was fantastic, seating had such an intimate vibe, and honestly the whole ambiance was so beautiful and the perfect way to spend a Saturday night w a date or someone you love. Dim, every table has a little candle, people are dressed nice, etc. The food was also okay, overpriced but you need to spend a $20 minimum while you're there. Got a gin and tonic and two desserts. The drink was perfect and both desserts tasted good too! Service was attentive. Overall I loved it and can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyHad a great evening here.
Friend reserved a good table. Music started promptly, but we had time to eat before the show. I wasn't wowed by the food, but I had the cheese and fruit plate and it was actually perfect for me as a post-dinner snack. The music, the ambiance, the service were all stellar. Will definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyWe came to bird land to celebrate my partners birthday.
He loves live music, especially jazz. The singer that night was a great entertainer. We really enjoyed the music. The food was fine, nothing special. The cocktails were made well, we enjoyed a couple. What we came for was the music and that was fantastic. Can't wait to come back!

Could not recommend any higher. Just a great experience. We will go again. Peace

Husband and I visited the early Saturday dinner and it was an excellent show. The venue was intimidate, ambience was sophisticated, and the food was what'd you expect from a jazz club - not great but also not bad!We saw Eric Comstock (piano&voice), Sean Smith(bass), and special guest singer Barbara Fasano. The music felt like a love story to manhattan and but also self discovery, with a hint of old New York in the commentary and lyrics. Eric was great with the vocal but also very interesting commentaries in between. The show had a great flow and captivated us for the entire 1.5 hours. There is a ticket to get into the venue, $40pp, and a $20pp food/drink minimum. We thought the price was worth for the night as it was a truly unique. We ordered an impossible burger, fried calamari, and artichoke dip. The calamari surprised me because it was pretty good, tender on the inside and crispy on the out. They also had one sauce for the calamari that was delicious! The service was quick and efficient, so overall we had a wonderful date night!

We knew we were going to a wonderful place when the woman with whom we reserved our spots responded to questions with kindness and trust. We were welcomed when we arrived and indeed noted we were on the guest list despite not receiving hardcopy tickets! The atmosphere was open, clean and beautiful! Tables appropriately spaced from the others. Acoustics were great and truly, there was not a bad seat in the house! We ordered beverages (very good) along with a fresh, and ample cheese and fruit plate. Wonderful! One of my party ordered the pasta of the day. He ate every last bite, it was so good! The service was excellent. The night's performance group: Jane Bunnett and Maqueque was terrific! Great crowd; warm vibe! High recommendations
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely amazing.
Music and service were top notch. The absolute perfect think in between a matinee and a night Broadway show and all - just solid jazz for any time
Be the first to ReplyThe jazz music was amazing.
Ambiance and service were great. Food was not bad. We had fried calamari and a side of fries which was not bad. The selection of wine is not that good but nonetheless we enjoyed the evening
Be the first to ReplyIncredible time experiencing Birdland for the first time.
Such an amazingly intimate setting and aura watching some super talented musicians. Only other jazz bar/club I've been to in Manhattan is Dizzy's Club in Upper Manhattan right off of Columbus Circle at Lincoln Center. Birdland is def comparable to Dizzy's but better in a couple of ways in my opinion. First, the venue is smaller and therefore more intimate. Second, unlike at Dizzy's, a party of 2 has the table to themselves. We did not try the food at Birdland but with our wandering eyes the food looked mediocre at best. The Fried Chicken seemed to be a popular choice. But that's not why you go to Birdland. You go to see amazing musicians do what they do best. We had the privilege of seeing Melissa Ericco and her "A Noir Romance" show in the Birdland Theater section/level of the club. She and the Quintet along with an additional guest trumpet player put on a remarkable performance that included some story-telling describing the inspiration and feelings behind the Noir theme. The music was inspired from Noir films of the 1940's and 1950's NYC and Ericco's album "Out Of The Dark." Ericco portrayed a femme-fatale of sorts canvassing her way through a scandalous underground world full of heartbreak, grime and trouble. And she absolutely nailed it. Couple that with her amazing voice and the other musicians and it made for a truly memorable night. My advice would be to eat and drink somewhere else beforehand. Carmine's is right down the block and that's what we did. Seating for Birdland is first come first serve and we got in line around 7:30 PM for the 8:30 PM show and were able to grab a perfect table in the 2nd row right in the middle of the stage. Servers were great. There is a minimum of $20 per person per set/show. Since we ate and drank beforehand, we ordered 2 large bottles of still water and dessert to cover the additional $20 minimum per person. A piece of Blueberry Apple Crumble and a Peach Cobbler. Both with a scoop of Ice-Cream. They were decent. Will def return to the Birdland Jazz Club. Highly recommend to anyone who loves music, especially Jazz.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience! The musicians are so incredibly talented
Great experience! The musicians are so incredibly talented and nothing beats live music. The food was very expensive and underwhelming. Eat ahead of time for better quality. I would recommend sticking to drinks and maybe an appetizer to meet the $20/pp minimum.
Be the first to ReplyMy boyfriend and I had a fantastic time at Birdland.
It was our first time at a jazz club, and we were impressed. We arrived about 30 minutes early, and were able to get a good table. Bill O'Connell and the Latin Jazz Sextet performed, and they were very talented. We ordered a bottle of carbernet for the night, as well as some food. The popcorn shrimp was okay, nothing to rave about. I thought the fruit and cheese platter paired really well with the wine and the crackers in it were tasty. Service was attentive and we were checked on numerous times throughout the night. The total cost was pretty expensive, but it was worth the splurge for me. The ambience here is romantic and classy, and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Be the first to ReplyWalked in after seeing Moulin Rouge.
The salad was wonderful, our server was friendly & kind, & the musicians were impeccable. A wonderful splurge.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a wonderful experience.
Book your tickets, grab a table and get there early. You wouldn't want to experience this while sitting at the bar. Intimate little club that has shows running from 5:30p to 11:30p. Booked the Delfeayo Marsalis & The Uptown Jazz Orchestra show and they were lovely! Staff was attentive & food was good. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which comes with great French fries. Would like to come back to listen to other bands.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful big band jazz.
Very attentive audience...sweet solos... AND the dinner was very good too!.... nice atmosphere ...excellent wait service...definitely would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic atmosphere! I saw this place on a social media
Fantastic atmosphere! I saw this place on a social media thought it would be a cool night with friends. The service was good. Strongly recommend going when the Birdland Big Band is playing. The only issues we saw - the session was a bit short and there was a requirement to spent the fixed ammount of money.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful evening - great ambience and the Wasps were in
Wonderful evening - great ambience and the Wasps were in tip top form. S flappy to be out at a live concert again. Our waitress was great too.
