Café Martinique Paradise Island Reviews from The Last Year
Best to Avoid
We had heard online and anecdotally from acquaintances that this was the place to go in Atlantis for a nice dinner (even more than Nobu). This was inaccurate at best. The atmosphere of Cafe Martinique has the feel of something nice, but the food very much does not. We went for a dinner as a late-anniversary treat. For what it's worth, the place was nearly empty at 8pm in a very large space. We weren't necessarily expecting much given our overall experience at Atlantis but were hoping for at least something edible. The service was friendly enough but it went downhill from there. The free bread was hard and nearly stale. The mushroom ravioli appetizer was a single largish piece of pasta with some kind of sauce poured on. Both under seasoned and not particularly flavorful otherwise. The mushroom filling had an odd gritty texture and the pasta itself was tough to get through even with a knife. The recommended snapper entree was something to behold. A single piece of fish breaded almost like a cafeteria fish stick with some kind of thick gloppy yellow sauce drizzled around it and the plate in zigzags. It came with a mushroom butter that I wasn't sure what to do with, given the existing layer of sauce and fried breading on the fish. The butter was the most edible part of that dish. My wife had the filet ordered medium. The beef arrived butterflied in half which seemed odd, with some pink still in the middle. It was incredibly tough and chewy, and nearly impossible to get through. Not sure if this was actually filet or if so, whether the chef knew what to do with it. The beef came with a side of mashed potatoes - I also ordered a side for myself. While not quite boxed mix, there was a gluey consistency to it. We passed on dessert and hopefully avoided any kind of free anniversary "treat" we might have otherwise received. We then mercifully left, a couple hundred dollars poorer.
Charming French Restaurant in the Marina District
Take the time to utilize the antique lift from the ground level to the dining area. Glass and wrought iron, just beautiful. Just a warning, the walls are bare so sound is reflected and amplified. There was a large group on the opposite side of where we were and we had to talk loud to be able to hear each other. It seemed like they were shouting. We had a nice table next to a window overlooking the yachts in the marina. I started with the Nicoise Salad, which was excellent. Perfectly seared tuna accompanied by sardines, lettuces etc. (I should have asked for extra sardines, not everyone likes them but I do). My wife ordered the escargot. It was quite disappointing, overcooked and slightly bitter. We advised our waiter, who simple shrugged his shoulders. I had the slow braised leg of lamb. I would say it was one of the best legs of lamb I've ever had. Very flavorful and broke apart with your fork. My wife had the Mahi Mahi with braised leeks. The leeks were very good, could have used more. The fish was good but not exceptional. We were also served a cup of mashed potatoes, which were VERY good. If you are a fan of Baba Rum, get the Baba Bouchon. The citrus and pineapple were great additions.
Great food, even better service
This place is FANTASTIC! Starting with the food: My wife and I were visiting from Alaska, so I feel I know what good fish tastes like...well the snapper at Cafe Martinique just blew my socks off. Highly recommend if you contemplating the menu. Now for the part that justified me writing "Fantastic" in all caps, the service. Bradley and David M. are the real MVP's of Atlantis. The checked all the boxes of good service by making great recommendations and making sure our cocktails never ran empty. But they really went the extra mile by sparking conversation and having fun with us. The cherry on top was when they brought out rose pedals to our table after they found out we were celebrating our honeymoon. Made my wife feel real special, and you know what they say about happy wives... What an awesome place to dine, I highly recommend!
Never again on our agenda
We visited this restaurant many times prior to its closing and then reopening. We looked forward to a return trip over our 2023/2024 stay at the Atlantis. What a disappointment. The New Martinique did away with so many of the signature dishes that made the original Martinique so special. A French restaurant serving sourdough in lieu of French baguettes, a less than appetizing French onion soup, no famous shrimp dijon, or cherries jubilee. Martinique changed for the worst, but we found that our other favorite island restaurant Graycliff was as wonderful as always. We will spend our entertaining dollars there.
Overpriced and very medium service....
Overpriced and bad service, and food was mediocre at best.....go to Graycliff instead for a wonderful experience.
Date Night
Having had a great experience with a tasting menu at another restaurant, we decided to give cafe Martinique a try. We were last at the restaurant maybe 8 or 9 years ago. It was a very rainy night but we were quickly seated at the bar for a tasty cocktail, then to the restaurant with a great window seat. Service was excellent and we were both very impressed by the delicious food. The stand out items from the (I think 5) tasting courses were the French onion soup and the fish but it was all excellent. We took the wine pairings too which were also good and reasonable value. Overall an excellent experience and well recommended
A charming venue for a light dinner
Walking into Cafe Martinique felt like walking into a place of warmth and comfort. For me it had a New Orleans type of feel. We went for a light dinner that consisted of the mushroom soup a nicoise salad - both done to perfection and ravioli - that wasn't so great. And profiteroles that were delicious. The Manager Mr. Warren Curtis, the Women at theReceptionist desk, the Gentleman that took care of our order, Stefan, were all service persona fide. It was a really lovely evening. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you!
Worth a special occasion (?)
We went to Cafe Martinique for my husbands birthday with another couple. The Restaurant is lovely inside. We were seated immediately. Our waiter, Hanford I believe was his name made this special occasion perfect. He was professional, inviting and yet witty. My husband and I ordered the tasting menu. First off my husband loved everything. I was slightly disappointed. The onion soup was nothing special with little cheese if any. The Lobster Cardinal tasted good, (I dont usually like seafood), but it seemed hard for my husband to get out the shell for some reason. The Sea Bream filet was again good, not to fishy. The steak was disappointing, Not well seasoned. Boring. My husband received the duck. I know I tasted it but have no recollection. The Vacherin for dessert was very good but the beetroot on the bottom had a funny texture. (like packed cotton candy). This is not the place to go to if you are a selective eatter. There are not many options. I would not race back to dine there again. If it were not for our waiter making the night full of laughs this review would be two stars less. The price just did not measure up to the food.
Great food and service
Great restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service. A nice upscale restaurant at Atlantis. We loved our meal so much we had to return the next day. Very accommodating for allergies and gluten free options. David M was a fabulous server! Cafe Martinique was a highlight of our trip

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Newbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Give the best answerConcierge change fulfillment time
I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
