Amazing views and great service made for a very enjoyable
Amazing views and great service made for a very enjoyable experience . The food with wine pairing was delicious . The ravioli in tomato broth hit the spot and my filet was perfect for a rainy night . The peanut butter banana dessert and chocolate torte were decadent . The views of Magic Kingdom lit up at night were great, and we saw the fireworks from the restaurant !

If you're going to California Grill he is the man you want/need waiting on you. I have been going here for years and years and have always requested him. People knock CG because they went Prix Fixe on their menu. I do understand that. It sucks you can't just go here and order just an entree. For me I always want the full experience when I am here so I would be ordering 3 courses regardless. The oil with tomato and garlic of bread they give you here is insane good. Is most cases this texture is a nightmare for me but I load a ton of this stuff up on my bread and eat more than I should even admit. Although they took the wontons off the main menu you can still order them at a separate charge. That REALLY sucks because these things are amazing. Luckily they let me have them one last time. I also had the wagu surf and turf roll. This was very good and I was a little hesitant on eating raw meat but it was fine. The main entree I got was the pork tenderloin. The pork is so tender you can cut it with a fork. I am not a pork belly person at all but they do it great here. For dessert they brought out a nice piece of confetti cake for my birthday. I also ordered the spiced panna cotta and this has fall all over it. When they take it off the menu, for a new seasonal dessert I am going to be upset unless it's something strawberry. That is the only acceptable replacement. All in all California Grill is my GOAT at Walk Disney World. At least GOAT 1A. The whole experience is just awesome. We typically walk over from MK and you're just drooling the whole way over looking up at the restaurant ready to go do some serious damage to some food, and your wallet. Once you get up there and walk into the main dining area the view just punches you in the face. It's stunning. Especially if you get a window seat during sunset where you can literally watch the sunset between The Grand Floridian and MK. The dim the lights during fireworks and pump in the music. You can also go outside on the balcony and watch them as well. If you have never been here you definitely need to try it if the price won't set you back too far.

We visited California Grill for the first (and last) time a few nights ago. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but unfortunately it fell short on many levels. Pro's. - Service. The wait staff at this restaurant are top notch, friendly and helpful. Very attentive and overall is the only reason it got the second star. - Beautiful view and decor. - Delicious appetizers. We enjoyed the Sushi (two orders) and Rizini Pizza. Both shareable and was a good way to start off the meal. Complimentary bread was also good - They accept AP and DVC discounts Con's - Food: The entrees were was extremely disappointing. Very small portions (to be expected) but everything was over salted on all 4 of our plates. All the meats had sea salt all over them that you could see and definitely taste. - We had a 5pm (right when they opened) reservation. The line to check in was very lengthy. Staff don't arrive to the host stand until 4:55. Many people were standing around earlier to try and get checked in/information with no help. We arrived shortly after 4:30 to just see a line of people. Highly recommend using online check in in the Disney app. - Our seating. The server informed us they would be raising the shade eventually to see the view... However at 6pm the sun is still up, and worse yet, shining almost directly into the restaurant. This is the crown jewel of this restaurant. The over view of Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom and to have the view obstructed (for us anyway) the entire time by shades was a massive let down. If we ever return here (unlikely) we will definitely arrange for seating after 7pm to get the night time view. In our opinion the restaurant shouldn't even offer reservations that early if you can't enjoy this part of it until after dark. Open the restaurant at 6:30 if that's the case. - Outside walkways to for the overview were closed during our visit. Another bummer we were looking forward to. - Price. We knew this going in. at $90 +Tax/gratuities per person it's steep for what you get. You can get a much better meal and deal down stairs at Steakhouse 71 (one of our favorites on property) for a fraction of the price.

I had such a great experience at the California Grill! The parking lot was pretty full and we had to have a reservation to get into the lot because they are so close to the parks. We checked into our reservation on the second floor and had a private elevator take us up to the reservation when they were ready for us. We were seated at a window seat which was super nice! We couldn't quite see the castle from there though, so we had to go out onto the balcony for a better view. We went a little later in the night so we could catch the firework show at the Magic Kingdom. It was amazing! You couldn't have had a better view anywhere else in the area! The fireworks were right above the castle and it was so pretty! Once the show was over, we went back inside to enjoy the rest of our meal. They timed everything out so that we could watch the show and then have our food come out, so it wasn't just sitting there the whole time getting cold! The menu was a flat rate, 3 course meal. There were items like the Wagu that was more expensive, but you had to read the fine print to notice it. Everything was delicious and very well plated. I really enjoyed every aspect of this place and would love to go back when I'm at Disney!

Great atmosphere, especially if you want a view of the wonderful fireworks at night. The food was just so-so, I was underwhelmed. We had: Sardinian Pizza - Way too big for an app, wish they focused on quality rather than quantity. Taste was ok. Sonoma Goat Cheese Raviolo - Ok, wish it had more broth/sauce. Fire-roasted Venison - Perfectly done! Florida Black Grouper - Fish was overcooked and underseasoned, and cassolette was good. Chef's Selections of California Cheeses - Good White Chocolate Cherry Crème Brûlée - Not recommended, very obvious they prepped it days ago because it tasted stale and straight out of the fridge.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite restaurants.
. the view is spectacular and you can watch the fireworks outside the window from Magic Kingdom. You can see the castle if you are seated by the window, and the service is extraordinary. I will say that this place is extremely expensive. The food is great, but I don't know if it warrants what they are charging. Regardless, this is a staple and I always make a point when I'm in Disney to visit.

We had eaten at the California Grill in the past, the food and service has always been excellent. On this visit, we wanted to have some snacks at the bar and then watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Our bartender Ray who has been working there since its opening was excellent. He made recommendations and also gave us a tip as to watching the show. The place is beautiful with a casual but refined elegance. We had two orders of Short Rib Wontons (one was not enough). We highly recommend them. Drinks poured were great and we had a very nice time.

Thought this would be a nice dinner while we watched the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. Incorrect. Let's start off with the price for a pre-fix menu of absolutely the worst choices of food you can pick from, & the portions were insulting. The service was painfully slow & for the time it took to cook my steak, it was raw. Literally raw. The only saving grace was the pizza. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Too many fabulous restaurants in Disney. Skip this one.

We were lucky enough to be at the Contemporary just as the restaurant opened and got seats at the bar. This was to be the first stop on our monorail crawl. Our bartender Ray was a pleasure and at his suggestion, we ordered two blackberry sour mocktails and one blackberry sour. We watched him muddle the huge blackberries and mix our drinks with a homemade sour lemonade. Wow! They were great! There was a small appetizer menu, a couple of sushi rolls and a sushi combo. The one that stood out to us was a short rib wonton. There were 4 on the dish. The presentation was very pretty and the taste was outstanding! We enjoyed the atmosphere, food and drink. The great service was a plus. We will remember this stop for our next visit!
Be the first to ReplyIf you expect this to be an upscale Disney dining
If you expect this to be an upscale Disney dining experience given the high prices and quality of food you'd be wrong. The food was indeed great (especially by Disney standards), our waiter was extra awesome and we had a great view of the fireworks but they seated us in the middle of the restaurant by the server station, a noisy, crowded main thoroughfare with servers rushing all around us and out-of-control kids running everywhere. The waiter kindly asked the manager to move us to one of several quieter tables right near us but the manager rudely refused unless we waited longer - when we already had to wait past our reservation time. We stayed in our table but they never filled the empty tables near us. For an overpriced $89 price fixe and no other option (wish they offered a La carte, especially as we didn't want dessert) you should get a quieter table upon request. We felt like we were eating in the middle of a crowded shopping mall food court with no ventilation.

We went for my birthday for the firework dinner and it was so delicious. I received the goat cheese ravioli for the appetizer and it was so delicious I still think about it. The crème brûlée I wouldn't recommend. It was super sweet and didn't have very much flavor.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible experience.
Service was poor. Tried to order a diabetic meal and they were unfriendly. I can't understand why they ask you about allergies but do nothing about it. You just cannot trust them.

I came here with some work colleagues who had made some reservations and wanted to watch the fireworks and what an absolute treat! It is a pre set menu but there are tons of options. Overwhelming the staff was amazing. Our waiter was so nice and welcoming and had the perfect amount of chat. He even gave advice on the menu items and it was truly great with the fireworks as the cherry on top! Their bread service is also delicious and that was unexpected. For the starter I got the spicy Kazan roll and this was truly the star. Our whole table loves it. For the main I got the grouper which was a giant piece and super flaky. For the dessert I got the creme brulee and just wow My only complaint is price but to be honest I didn't mind because work was paying haha. Overall great!
Be the first to ReplyService was outstanding.
Was able to watch fireworks between entrees and desserts which perfectly broke up the meal. Beautiful evening.
Be the first to ReplyI always have a great experience at California Grill.
I've been for many dinners and even private parties over the years and the food is always delicious. The staff is awesome because so many of them have been there for years and years. They have a passion for the location and menu and it shows. It's a historic property at Walt Disney World and I love the new photos they've added that showcase what the restaurant looked like once upon a time. It's a great place to look out on the parks and to enjoy the fireworks! While I desperately miss their brunch, their bread basket is what I'm most in love with. Fluffy focaccia with a crispy, golden brown crust, flaky sea salt and fresh herbs paired with marinated tomatoes. The dinner is phenomenal - we got two of the full course meals and shared so I got to try quite a bit. The pork chop was amazing as were the wontons and the duck pizza. Dessert was delicious. Whatever you get here, you really cannot go wrong!

this restaurant has a stunning prefix menu, paired with best vibes on disney property. Got there early to watch the fireworks on the terrace and they play the music on the balcony. Great views of MK from our table! Best drink was the blueberry lemon drop martini, and best entree was the venison!!
Be the first to ReplyFore warning- this restaurant has limited reservation
Fore warning- this restaurant has limited reservation availability because of how incredible it is! Yes, quite pricey but absolutely worth it. My sister and I decided to surprise my parents with dinner at the California Grill for their 30th wedding anniversary. There was a speciality 50th anniversary menu that the restaurant was using that I was hesitant about ordering from. Because I'm a vegetarian, along with my mom, I was afraid this set menu wouldn't have any options for me and boy I was wrong!! Having a skyline view of Disney and being able to watch the Disney fireworks from the rooftop made the night even more special!! The staff was so friendly and our waitress was amazing!
Be the first to ReplyAte here on an adult only trip.
While there were children present (it is Disney), the restaurant has a Chic upscale feel. The windows are floor to ceiling and all of the tables are arranged so you can look out into magic kingdom. We were there during the fireworks and they invite you to go outside or sit in your seats and watch while the show is played on the restaurant sound system, so you get the full firework experience without the crowd. Currently, it is a pre-fixe menu for the 50th. I had the soup appetizer, while my husband enjoyed the short rib pot stickers. I opted for the wine pairing, and the white they selected went well with the soup. Next, we upgraded to the Tomahawk steak for two with Gouda Mac and cheese and carrots. The mac and cheese was heaven. The steak was good but a bit fatty for the price; I prefer a little leaner of a rib eye- marbled but not overwhelmingly fatty. The red they paired it with was exceptional. Finally, my husband ate the small dessert platter and I had the peanut butter banana option. I did not enjoy the port wine, but my husband loved it and his desserts. It was overall a good experience. I would not opt for the tomahawk unless you could pick your steak and ensure it isn't too fatty.
Be the first to ReplyWas extremely disappointed with our experience last night
Was extremely disappointed with our experience last night at California grill. Booked these reservation 60 days out from our trip. This was my favorite restaurant last trip to Disney 12 years ago and have been really looking forward to it to share with the rest of my family. Had reservations at 8:30 and did not get to our table till 9:00. Had a toddle with us and was trying to get the waitress to get some items in quick so she didn't have a melt down. Took forever to get simple things like water and bread. I ordered an old fashion with our first course. First course came and went. Our water was never refilled. Looked around at other tables and they not only had water they also all had pitchers of water on there tables. After waiting for an hour with no water, no main course, and no cocktail I was done. Went and talked to the manager expressing my issues and she was very professional about it. Sent us back to our other resort with some pizzas and appetizers so we at least had something. It was past 10 at this point so everything at our resort would have been closed. I appreciated her help but was still extremely disappointed by the whole experience. This meal would have easily been over $300 and to not have any service was crazy to me. The food we ate was amazing which made it even more of a let down with the experience. I would have rated them one star had it not been for the manager helping us out with at least some food. With all that I still would like to go back but I really hope they get it all together. I made to many sacrifices to make this a special night for it to turn out the way it did.

Food portions are "Nouveau " small would make it seem as if the were almost normal. These portions were almost nonexistent. Service was very nice and the view is fabulous. You really pay for the view and nice service but the price for food is not worth talking about it is so expensive.
Be the first to ReplyWent when they had a preset menu for the 50th anniversary.
The menu theme was the best plates from the last 50 years and it was definitely an interesting experience. Of course if you've ever been to the Contemporary you know this is the best view for fireworks. They dim the lights and play the music throughout the restaurant. You are welcome to stand on the balcony to watch the fireworks at magic kingdom. The service wasn't the best. We had missing utensils and did get the correct drinks. But the manger covered our drinks did our trouble.

Great ambiance and service! Would recommend to everyone! Thank you for suggestions from management!
Be the first to ReplyCalifornia Grill was one of my favorite meals I've ever had.
Between the exclusivity of a private elevator, excellent food, and premium service, I would definitely return. The ambiance was lovely for the fireworks. There was a mix of couples and families so it can be a bit loud, but I didn't find it to be overwhelming. The service was fantastic from the start. Our server, Ryan, had been at the restaurant for over 20 years and was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We had the 50th anniversary menu and upgraded to the tomahawk steak. The apple raspberry salad and pumpkin and squash bisque were a great sign of the excellent meal to come. The tomahawk steak was unbelievable - probably the best steak I've ever had - cooked a perfect medium-rare. The rich and decadent Mac n cheese was complemented by perfectly cooked asparagus. The drinks were excellent too - the Zacapa Sidecar was delicious. I ordered a glass of Faust Cabernet, and Ryan brought another Cabernet and a Cab Franc for me to taste prior to committing. Just another touch of the fantastic service to expect. The 50th anniversary Magical Bites dessert represented contributions by some of California Grill's chefs de cuisine, which was explained to us by Ryan. All in all, our meal was excellent, and I would happily return and request Ryan as our server!
Be the first to ReplyHad a fantastic time finally getting to try out their 50th
Had a fantastic time finally getting to try out their 50th anniversary menu! Once we checked in at the hostess stand on the 2nd floor, we were offered complimentary champagne or cider while we wait for our table to be ready. I don't know if this is typical but it was a lovely surprise! Once I received the text the table was ready, I was sent to the elevators and was off to the 15th floor. Nothing short of VIEWS here! The ambiance here cannot be beat! They had our table decorated for valentine's day which was cute and our server came to explain the menu. There are some items listed with a "50th" mark next to them that apparently were on the menu 50 years ago before it became California Grill! How cool! The menu was pre fixe and you get a starter, an entree and dessert. I tried the blueberry lemon drop and wow! That's a perfect drink! For the starter, we chose the duck a l'orange pizza (this had a 50th mark!) and the braised beef wontons. I could literally eat 50 of those wontons!!! Absolute perfection!! The pizza was a new and unique taste for me but still very tasty!! The entrees were the grouper and the filet. The filet is flavorful and literally melts in your mouth! I really like fish but it's not something I usually choose when going out to eat, but let's just say I'm glad I did this time! The grouper had so many flavors that worked so well together and the cilantro sauce one the basmati rice was perfect. Dessert was the crème brûlée and the valrhona chocolate torte. While I loved both, I am kicking myself for not trying the 5 mini cakes specially made for the 50th anniversary. All in all, the service was fantastic and the ambiance is unmatched. Definitely hoping to go again!

Everything was so yummy and I was extremely excited to have a great filet, however my "medium" filet didn't come out so great. There were truly so many other great things within the experience that I wasn't too mad however I was quite bummed. Service was great, it was our servers second day and she seemed very well trained and kind. Dessert was my favorite!
