Excellent Food but Noisy
Food was excellent. Service was superb. But the Noise level made conversation very difficult. If you want quieter ask for an outside table next to the gas heaters.
Be the first to ReplySuperior food, service and ambiance for our 43rd wedding anniversary. If you like good food, and Italian cuisine, this is your
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and I can't think of a finer local restaurant in which to have our celebration. We are lovers of Italian food, and Carmine's has among the best. The calamari appetizer was the best I've had in my nearly half-century of eating it. Thus was the only time calamari was not served rbbery or tough, but rather was soft, tender and beautifully done. The veal scallopini and canelloni were excellent. The tiramisu and spumoni were also top notch with small, sweet cherries on the side of the spunoni. Our server, Matthew, was extremely professional, friendly, and proud of his team's work. We can't recommend it highly enough.
Be the first to Replyfood ok but quite overprice and pretentious
This is a decent Italian restaurant, though the pretentious service and certainly the final check suggests it's something special. It's actually an absolutely regular Italian trattoria in terms of food - which is a welcome thing in Bellevue with its rather dull food scene, and had they sold themselves as such I would have rated it higher - but a top quality Italian restaurant it ain't.

This was a ladies business lunch for two. It was a beautiful day with people strolling by the adjacent park. Most diners opted for outside dining beneath the pergola. We were seated inside in the great room, where it was less busy, so we could enjoy a conversation. Warm, crusty bread was quickly set on the table as we read the menu. So many tasty options, it was difficult to decide on the dish. She opted for a Caesar salad and cannelloni with ricotta and spinach. I opted for pasta with vodka sauce and handmade fennel sausage. The sauces were rich, savory, and had wonderful flavors & textures. Absolutely delicious. Portions were generous. A perfect business lunch. We will visit again.

Had not been for a few years as the last visit was just OK, but our good neighbor picked for a night out together. First impression on a Tuesday night-super busy at 6 PM. This restaurant and the general area was hopping! Second impression was that the pandemic is totally over. The tables are tight and the whole area set up for maximum guests. Our waiter even requested we move our table from the original setup so staff could have a passage to get around. Third, other reviewers comments about the noise do not do it justice. Felt like 90dB. I never get headaches, but by the end of the evening had a low grade throbbing and could not wait to leave let alone consider dessert. We were at a square table for 4. Could not hear my wife to the right (think about when you hear about every 3rd word and have to guess to fill in the rest of the sentence.) Guest to the right wanted to wear a mask, but in order to be understood this was impossible and I had to lean to within about 20 inches away to have a conversation. Forget about hearing anything from the person across from me. If you wish to have conversation you are much better with the outdoor seating option, though people have to walk past you to get to the entrance/exit door. Service was efficient, but perfunctory. Food was average (below for my wife). Perhaps we were jaded by eating in Turin last fall. Calamari came out almost instantly, hot and crisp- My wife thought batter was a bit hard (she prefers the same dish at Daniel's broiler). Osso Bucco ($57) was surprisingly dry. Wife felt the flavor was lacking. More tomato notes than wine braising that she was expecting. I tried some of the marrow which had a somewhat off putting staleness. My risotto with crab and mushroom was not artful-a bit of a glob on the plate. The mushroom flavors were prominent, but other than detecting the texture of crab it did not lend any flavor to the dish. If you wish for a beer it only comes from a bottle or can. Pandemic has seen a dramatic increase in restaurant pricing with smaller portions and lesser quality regionwide. So per couple in the end about $270 for 2 Osso Bucco, pesto and risotto and a calamari appatizer. No drinks, dessert or other extras. Though I always tip at the 20% level, I do appreciate that Carmine's does not do the "20% mandatory added service fee-please feel free to tip more to your server, and by the way we need to add on sales tax to that" that seems to be so pervasive now.
Be the first to ReplyCrab Mac and Cheese!!! Yes yes YES
Came here for a friend's birthday lunch. The food was delicious. I had the crab mac & cheese, which I would recommend anytime. It was rich and creamy. Others in our group had the halibut which was also good. The waiter was very good, but clearly had too many tables. Not his fault. He was wonderful. We share desserts...all good but none excellent.

Be the first to ReplyA perfect evening with friends and wonderful Italian food
Our group of 5 came to celebrate a birthday, we really enjoyed the ambience with large windows opened to bring in some outside air. The restaurant is quite large, very busy. Not the most quiet place, with an open kitchen to watch some crazy busy actions. Our server staff was wonderful. Very attentive and efficient. Ordered a variety of dishes: pancetta romaine salad, veal with lemon and piccata, crab risotto, wild boar, and cioppino. All were artfully prepared and delicious. They even comp'ed us a tiramisu for dessert. We also ordered the cannoli trio >>> that was a bit of a disappointment. Not the best, would skip next time. Overall, very pleased with the evening.

I had lunch yesterday at Carmine's to celebrate my birthday. This restaurant has become my favorite recently not only because of the delicious food but also because of the attentive and friendly staff. Seasonal specials are a delight and more standard offerings also hold up well. I haven't had a meal there that I didn't fully enjoy and recommend it heartily.

This restaurant said it was quiet and romantic. I found the din just awful. The food was adequate on the second try for my wife, but our 51st anniversary dinner was essentially ruined by the awful atmosphere and the lengthy wait time for what was only adequate food. Their other location in lower downtown Seattle had always been a lovely experience, but to be seated in the bar with a tv playing ten feet away for a romantic dinner was in terrible taste. I will never go back.

Met a friend for lunch who lives nearby. We had salad with chicken, pasta dish, side of salad and cream of spinach soup. Food was very good and so was the service. It’s situated across the street from a park so has a nice view and has outdoor semi enclosed seating as well as indoor seating. Do plan ahead and allow time for parking as that took a while to find. But Carmine’s was well worth the time.

Three friends and I dined here for the first time to celebrate a birthday. Food was excellent…we all thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. The service was good and they did provide a birthday dessert which is alway a classy touch. Our only complaint was the restaurant is noisy which makes for difficult conversation. If we return, we will request an outside table.

Carmine's is my favorite restaurant for its great food, superb service and ambiance. Due to COVID, we don't dine out (only do take-outs), but this is the ONLY place we dined at a few times during the pandemic due to outdoor heated seating. My husband took me for Valentine's day and service by Jeff was superb! He recommended the specials so we ordered the Risotto Tiberio and Chilean Seabass, and my usual Scaloppine Vitello. Everything was so delicious! The veal is a must! I normally don't eat bread when dining out, but it was so delicious (chewy on the inside, crunchy on the crust), I ate a lot,. B/cuz we liked it so much, Jeff brought out more (he was so attentive and so great), Jeff really made our dining experience so wonderful. It was the perfect Valentine's day meal! It was a cold, rainy day, but with the heating lamps outside, it was perfect!

What is this hype all about? This is the most archetypal Italian-American food I have eaten in a while. Granted, the dishes were good, but absolutely nothing worth 5 stars. In fact, I find it to be a pretty average menu in a nice space yet overpriced. If you want proper Italian food, grab, for example, a bite at Cafe Juanita or Spinasse. But this place is definitely not worth a repeat. Excessive use of garlic aside, who in their right mind drizzles chocolate on tiramisu? Not going back.

Carmines is my new favorite. The food the atmosphere and the staff are all fantastic. The thing I like most is the welcoming and attentive staff. Always there when you need them and gone when you don't and never a rush. I love this place for my important meetings because I have time to get to know my guest in a comfortable atmosphere with great food and service. Today lunch was the Dungeness crab risotto and it was one of the best risotto dishes I have ever had and that says a lot. I loved the fact that our server started by welcoming us them immediately asking about any special dietary requirements and my dining companion had several. The server made some recommendations from the menu and assisted in making a perfect choice. You have to love that. Make a reservation it's always busy but not so packed that you can't maintain conversation. I can't wait to go back.

We celebrated my husband's birthday here, and in addition to some terrific pasta, the restaurant wen out of its way to make him feel special. They had a happy birthday note on the table, gave us a quiet table, and gave him a birthday desert. Delicious food, but really terrific service.
