Brilliant!
Been thinking of visiting Carters for a few years so the pop-up in Worcestershire which is closer to home was too good a chance to miss. Was very impressed by the whole experience - original and delicious food served by knowledgeable, motivated and friendly staff. Learned lots about the British leaves and flowers grown in the glasshouse and had a guided tour with scissors after our meal so that we could take some home. The food was inventive, interesting, modern British - and Brad and Holly clearly have a loyal and accomplished team all of whom stayed with them on the temporary move to Evesham. Just brilliant from start to finish.

Had visited carters a few years ago and comparing it to other Michelin restaurants thought is was ok but not our favourite and some of the dishes were good and some were just bland. Decided to give it another go at the pop up restaurant for lunch and left feeling underwhelmed again and when your paying a lot of money for a meal you don’t want to feel over charged but do if you don’t really enjoy it. The amuse bouches were bland and tasteless , crab meat on a slice of apple that wasn’t an amazing apple either ??? the bbq flat bread was a bit rustic for a Michelin restaurant , one piece to share ?? and the bbq process made the shabby old green house smoky when you first enter , which in itself is not very clear where it actually is when you get there as just a tatty sliding door with no signage. The mussel dish was the best one visually but the main course of red deer on the bone to share with a pot of celeriac mash and a pot of salad was the strangest Michelin dish I’ve ever been served. Having to carve the meat off the bone myself and then for my wife and dishing out a dollop of mash really was bizarre and although it was tasty it was not beauty on a plate which is what you expect. The sweet of chocolate mouse looked lovely but was nothing special and I’ve had better ones in a pot from many supermarkets. The lunch was finished off perfectly with a trip to a portaloo outside to spend a penny which just about summed up our afternoon. Two weeks previously we were at simpsons and as usual was blown away with everything we were served, I think we are done with carters, I’m sure there are people who think their food is amazing but it just doesnt do much for us.
Be the first to Replynot value for money but good quality
It has a michelin star and some of the food was star standard, but not all, and to be awarded a star it should be,On of the mains was venison and unfortunately it was tough. Also only served with mashed celeriac and a salad, I would expect something more exciting/adventurous from a starred restaurant, Unusual venue in a greenhouse.Wines we found very expensive for the quality given.

This was our second time visiting the Carter's pop-up in Westlands Nurseries within 2 months and I don't think it will be our last. We were thrilled that Brad and team retained their hugely deserved Michelin star in this new venue and absolutely love the vibe, the atmosphere and the setting of the pop-up. The service is understated, friendly and excellent and the food is unusual, beautifully presented and genuinely local. I wish they would do a wine flight (!) but the wines we selected were also interesting and complemented the menu really well. Highlight for me is the bread course as well as the partridge main. Thank you again for having us and can't wait to get booked in again.

What a fantastic experience! The scented greenhouse setting is fab, funky and fun. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable explaining the foods journey. As for the food it’s insanely good. 9 courses, great value. Run don’t walk to Westlands by Jan when Carters are off to Birmingham again. Thank you Brad and Holly you totally spoilt us!

Amazing venue ar westlands Evesham sat in a green house with tasty beautifuly presented food. The perfect place for lunch, great friendly staff and deserves the excellent reputation it has.
Be the first to ReplyUnique location and great menu
My wife and I visited Carter’s at their summer relocation within a greenhouse in Evesham, a gift from our daughter and son-in- law. We had always intended to visit the Moseley restaurant but never got around to it. The atmosphere in the greenhouse was fantastic. We were made very welcome from the outset. It was a nice touch for various chefs to come to our table to introduce their dishes and explain the sources for the ingredients. As for the food, it was everything we expect from a Michelin-starred tasting menu. Beautifully presented dishes, well cooked and with great variety. Carter’s is relocating to central Birmingham later this year and we will definitely be going to check out the new premises and menu.

A fabulous evening in the countryside out of Birmingham! Really enjoyed all parts of the evening- drinks before dinner in the al fresco area and the relaxed and uber welcoming vibe. It was lovely to have the staff explain the meals and every time we come it always feels like coming home. Great selection of interpretative cocktails too! So nice to be so close to where dinner has been plucked from. And the flatbread - oh my! That needs a special mention! Awesome meal, amazing staff! Highly recommend!

We’ve been to a handful of Michelin restaurants now, this felt different! The food was as expected on point… really fresh, with at least 75% of the food coming from the greenhouses surrounding you, there was some real skill and imagination that went into the dishes. What we loved the most though was the service, attentive but relaxed, each course explained in detail. Previous reviewer mentioned the toilets outside…. Could they be a little nicer, maybe, but I think you’ve got to let them off this as they are in a greenhouse, and they’ve made it work, providing you with a really unique experience. I think for the food, service and whole experience £75 per head represents great value, especially when compared to what you would normally spend for a tasting menu at a restaurant in this country with a star! We are looking forward to visiting again before they go back to the normal restaurant for the winter.
Be the first to ReplyOk but could be much better
Disappointed and underwhelmed after experiencing the tasting menu. The service was excellent but the food was lacking in taste and somehow quite bland, despite the degree of thought and attention to detail which would have been involved in its preparation. The food was brought to the table by the chefs. Whilst this might be a nice touch, some of them looked like they needed a good shower. I didn’t mind their uniform being casual but as I tend to make an effort to be well presented, I would expect the staff to do the same. Dirty socks with scruffy shoes or crocs, lots of uncovered hair …it was all too much for me! Had I been served by one of the clean and tidy, knowledgeable and enthusiastic waitresses who looked like they cared about personal hygiene, I think I would have felt more comfortable. The restaurant itself is vast for the number of people in it and it felt like we were sat in the outdoor department at b & q with rows of plastic plant pots (which contained some of the ingredients). The music was a little loud and something more mellow and relaxing would have been more to our taste. The toilets are outside in a mobile unit and not the cleanest. We have been to a relatively small number of Michelin star restaurants over recent years (maybe 6 or 7) and like to experience many different types of eateries (not just fine dining) and I’m sorry to say that carters didn’t meet our expectations on this occasion.

I took my Mum for lunch at the weekend for her birthday and we both absolutely loved it. All of the staff were so lovely and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious, with some nice surprises and touches and the duck for 2 was incredible. We left feeling very happy and full. Great atmosphere in the restaurant- good buzz, but very relaxed and Brad Carter took the time to come and chat and was very down to Earth. Couldn’t fault one thing - we will definitely be back. Thank you so much.
Be the first to ReplyCompletely wowed…Superb in every way!
First time experience dining at a Michelin star restaurant and I was completely wowed. From the friendly welcome right up to the moment we left, we had a fabulous experience. We enjoyed each course which was beautifully presented and details of each dish explained by the waiting staff and chefs. The time between each dish being served was perfect. We loved the story of each course and the nod to Birmingham reflected in some. There is a good variety of wines to choose from and one of our favourites was an English sparkling rose. Service and the attention to small details were excellent and very much appreciated and we enjoyed the cosy and relaxed atmosphere. As we were celebrating 4 birthdays in our group we got a little extra treat at the end. Definitely an evening I shall remember and recommend very highly.

Absolutely amazing. I like Mr. Carter's idea of sustainability and every single dish had a twist both in flavour and what ingredients they used. Everything was immaculate. The best dinner ever. Thank you for quite an experience!

We visited Carters this week and we were really impressed. The decor is sleek and we were made to feel very welcome upon arrival. All of the food from the tasting menu was of excellent quality, we found it a little too much fish for our liking, but that is just a personal preference. The staff were exceptional, very friendly and knowledgable. If you are looking for a fine dining experience, we would highly recommend.

Absolutely outstanding! The food is out of this world! Brad is an absolute genius when it comes to food, we sat at the chefs table and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! Being able to talk to Brad and his team was such a treat, and added so much to the experience. The service was impeccable, absolutely second to none! Esther is absolutely incredible, her service was outstanding and truly rounded off the experience! I cannot wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent as you’d imagine…
Having researched local(ish) Michelin starred restaurants for a special occasion, Carters came up. Located randomly near a pharmacy, the class is evident once you step inside to a fairly dimly yet peacefully lit small restaurant. Staff were incredibly - greater warmly, with chefs serving food themselves with additional information on all the dishes. Price was not out of control for a unique event and we certainly felt like it was worth it for the unique blend of local food and things not commonly served - cuttlefish and pine fir among them. There might be a nervousness when going to an acclaimed place like this, but I would certainly say we didn’t feel out of place in fairly regular clothing alongside a genuine mix of other guests.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic in every way
We were a bit concerned as we went through the door would it be as good as some of the other top restaurant in Birmingham would it be as good. The answer is yes for sure the staff were outstanding and the food was truly out of this world yet the place was so relaxed and laid back it was a joy to dine there I’m not too good with wine so it was suggested I try a particular red and as my pallet isn’t good I had to say I didn’t like it ( I’m sure it a great wine but not for me ) so I had another without bother and that was just perfect for me crazy nice. Will we go again you can be sure of that

What’s not to like! Incredible variety and local sourcing of ingredients. Loved the service. The serving staff were outstanding; friendly, attentive but knowledgeable and professional. Stand out dishes were fried chicken (omg), razor clams and venison. My wife who opted for the vegetarian chef’s table was never disappointed. We enjoyed a variety of wines as well as food in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. What’s not to like?

I’ve been lucky to eat in some fantastic places, country’s and with kings and the common man. I was lucky to try a taster from this great venue, of course the food was cooked with passion and love, it’s got a star after all, the thing that sets it apart are the owners passion for using local products and encouraging new stars into the profession at a time when it’s most needed. One star was Esta, her enthusiasm for the food, the way it’s sourced (as a local girl it’s her love) and the way she’s being taken through her journey in the industry was fantastic . Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Easily the most relaxed Michelin level meal I’ve ever eaten - no fuss, no airs and graces, just supremely good ingredients, fabulous cooking, and great service. Each dish surpassed the last, with humour and flavour in equal measure. The wine pairings were unusual and effective…maybe too effective (the vodka martini also delightful). Chef’s explanations of each dish never once felt forced and highlighted the support for local providers and respect for local heritage. Booking process was easy and helpful - we had to delay owing to covid and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Highly recommend, a special evening and one that is absolutely worth it.

My partner and I attended Carter's this week for her 30th birthday and we can both honestly say it was the best meal either of us have ever had. From the moment we walked in we were impressed with how attentive and courteous the team are. We were fortunate enough to be sat at the chefs table where Brad took us on a phenomenal culinary experience, taking us through each course and answering any questions we had. The sustainably sourced dishes alongside the incredible organic wine pairing made for some insanely good flavours. Needless to say we'll be going back again!

We really enjoyed our meal at Carters for my partner's birthday. The food was amazing - very unique and memorable. The staff were so attentive and friendly, we didn't need to ask for anything all evening as the team were so ontop of everything. Probably the best service we've experienced at any restaurant (including 3 Michelin star restaurants).
The drinks menu was another massive plus on our experience. There's an excellent selection of craft beers & ciders, and the staff were so helpful when selecting wine pairings.
Can't recommend enough!
Fantastic food, warm welcome
Went to Carters for a postponed birthday surprise and it was fantastic! Absolutely delicious food and really wonderful chef’s table experience. We were given so much insight into the food we were eating; where it was sourced, how it had been prepared etc- all delivered with charm by Brad Carter and his team. It was our first Michelin experience and we would definitely go back- the staff were lovely, the food was incredible and it was an all round wonderful and memorable meal!
