I don't know what is with all the negative reviews.
We went there today. The food and service were excellent. We ordered the fungi pizza and the kobe burger. They were very tasty. I love how low-salt the pizza was. Normally I don't like to eat pizza because of too much sodium. And the burger was excellent as well.

Restaurant "does not accept phone calls" and their website is " under maintainance". Are they still open?

My wife and I went to Solvand and celebrated our 44th anniversary. We could not get into a restaurant on Sunday New Years Eve so we went here and had lunch and it was great. We will be back.

Refused service on an almost empty restaurant, telling there will be wait for an hour plus. Basically refusing to serve guest with kids or probably just racist. Skip for sure.
Be the first to ReplyDon't believe the negative reviews.
Food is good. Service is great. Prices are reasonable.

See, this is the attitude we got when we arrived, excited and happy to be at Cecco for our Thanksgiving dinner. The hostess was aggressive and rude - a terrible way to greet guests. She claimed we had no reservation. She claimed she'd had no bookings for two people. When the man standing beside her asked me for proof and I showed him, she changed her story. Suddenly, she said she'd called me at 2.38pm to cancel. The man said he would honor our reservation and I thought this was wonderful. He said we couldn't order food but he would make something and bring it to us. We both said, "As long as it doesn't involve meat, we'd be happy to accept." We are both vegetarians and said so. I appreciate the Herculean effort it must have taken him to bang some lettuce into a couple of bowls but sheesh...now the hostess called us THREE times? She did not. And we asked for no meat. But we got it. This was not a free meal. It was an expensive one. Be nicer to your paying guests. It's not that difficult.

We had a lovely getaway to Solvang to celebrate the Christmas holidays, but our experience at Cecco's was not one to write home about. For our last night there we were looking for some pizza and wine. Tower Pizza's stove broke so the Visitors center recommended Cecco's. We walked past the restuarant and the ambiance and vibe looks amazing so we made plans to get there at 5pm to be one of the first in for dinner. We arrived at 5pm on the dot and the line was about 30 people deep. We figured the restuarant was just opening so they would get the line moving sitting people quickly but boy was I wrong. There was very little management of the flow of seating and getting people in and out of the restaurant. The hostess was doing triple duty - hosting, bussing (clearing out tables, putting the table cloths back on and getting it ready for the next guests which SLOWED everything down) and serving food. They only had 2 other servers that we could see and what seemed like one other person helping. We stood in that line for one hour and half before being seated. Once it got past 40 minutes of waiting it just seemed silly to leave and have wasted all that time although many behind us in line did just that. The patrons in line would see tables needing to be bussed and the poor hostess trying to serve, host and clear and place tables. It was a disaster and I truly felt bad for her. That wait was not her fault, but managements for not hiring more staff or training these kids (they were all very young) on best practices. What's worse is once we finally got seated all I wanted was a glass of wine to take the edge off and to order my food. We order the bolognese to which the server tells me they have run out. Remind you, the restaurant has been open for an hour and change on a December weekend when the town is flooded with tourists celebrating Julefest and they are not stocked with one of the most commonly asked for dishes at an Italian restaurant. I was floored. I ordered my wine hoping a little buzz would make the evening better. Waited patiently for my server to bring and he never showed up again. I saw him bustling around taking other orders but he never made it back to our table excpet to give us the bill. I finally flagged down the poor hostess who went to look for my wine to only come back and tell me they were out of Pinot Grigio. This is about 20 mins into us being seated. An Italian restaurant in wine counry out of wine and pasta. I just want to go on record saying the hostess deserves a raise and acknowledgement. She was hustling, doing 10 times what the two young male servers were doing, getting complaints from people waiting in line and always had a good attitude and smile on her face. I think the owner of this restaurant needs to really do some serious training and hiring especially for busy weekends like this if they dont want to come off looking like amateur hour.

even after the one hour wait to get in, this place blew my mind. the food was amazing and the portions were perfect. we sat to eat outside and even though it was 55 degrees, still felt comfy
Be the first to ReplyPizza I had was absolutely disgusting.
They put way way too much Gorgonzola cheese on it and the whole thing tasted like fish. And our pasta had a hair in it... not to mention how overpriced this place is. Service was garbage too, took forever to get our appetizer and they gave our pasta to someone else by accident. Ambiance was alright. Need more heaters.

We sat outside. The food was good, service was ok. They did the bare minimum, would have expected a little bit better courtesy from the staff. The hostess was socializing with a few tables but not all, seemed selective towards people of specific culture/races. I've noticed it all around Solvang, the customer facing folks aren't very warm or welcoming, even a Costco cashier greets you with more warmth and makes small talk, and Costcos see 10x the folks than a small town like Solvang. This place was no different.

During my trip to Solvang just before Christmas, my +1 and I stopped here to eat. Our food was good, but the place needs some help. There were only two waitresses there and they looked like they were doing the best they could. It took a few minutes before they could get to us at the check-in (though there was no line) because there was no host/hostess. Once we were seated, we were parched and were hoping for a couple glasses of water to start... but on their menu there was an asterisk stating that due to water rationing, they only offered bottled water for sale. Seriously? So we waited another 10-15 minutes while they served other tables and got our drink orders.I ended up ordering a $3 or $4 Coke, which was brought out in a can with a cup of ice (wow, mark-up much? And so much for refills) and my +1 ordered a glass of wine which was fortunately delicious. We each ordered our own pizza -hers was a Marguerite style and I ordered pepperoni. That part at least shined. They reminded me of the ones we ordered in Rome.I know staffing is short everywhere, and those servers deserve a raise, so probably still would have given this place 4 stars, but refusing to serve water and overcharging for drinks is ridiculous.

I must admit that this was one of the worst Italian restaurants I have ever been to. We were seated on the patio and it was a chilly day. The service was slow. The locals were treated better than the visitors. I ordered a burger (My uncle did too) that I asked for medium well. It came rare! The server (Perla M) never came and asked how the meal was. It came time for the bill and she brought it over promptly. We brought our concerns to her and she got snippy. We were contesting the bill, we just wanted her to let the chef know of the concerns. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE A VISITOR!
Be the first to ReplyThe patio area was nice and the wait on a Saturday
The patio area was nice and the wait on a Saturday afternoon was approximately 40 minutes for 4. The service was good and food was ok. The food was very pricey and the taste didn't really match the price. The bread was fresh and good, but don't care to eat too much bread prior to my meal. The Caprese salad was delicious and fresh. The ravioli was good. The hamburger was very good! The pesto pasta was very overwhelming.
Be the first to ReplyStopped in for lunch and service was just okay.
Appetizer with meatballs arrived quickly but was cold. Ceasar salad smothered in dressing and soggy. Margherita pizza sub-par and low-quality mozzarella. Concerned about quality of food as we got sick later in the evening.
Be the first to ReplyBeen a few years but we tried again for a take out pizza.
Total fail. They only produced half our order and had to try to finish the second pie. I'm watching her wad up paper to get heat and I get a half cooked half burned paper riddled pizza. The toppings were haphazard and skimpy. Total fail bad effort by the staff. Few customers tells the rest of the story. It's a local I want to like our restaurants but this was another disappointment

This is literally the best Bolognese you will ever have, the other dishes are amazing as well! Superb wine.
Be the first to ReplyThe service inside the restaurant was mediocre.
The staff would ignore in coming customers and would be hard to ask for items from the servers. The food was very mediocre. It felt frozen and did not taste like the price. Would not recommend and would choose anywhere else in Solvang.
