The Sweet Butter Cake is to die for at Charley's.
I love an American Steakhouse and Charley's is up there as one of the best. It is a real dining experience. The menu has all the usual steakhouse favourites and the Shrimp Cocktail being one of my personal favourites. It was a good one too although on the highly priced side at $31 for just 3 shrimp even at a fine dining steakhouse. My NY Strip was very good too as were the sides of Broccolini and Loaded Mashed Potatoes. For me the best bit was the Sweet Butter Cake Dessert though, boy it was divine!! It was a fine dining price at US$282 (before tip) for two of us with just one glass of Pinot Noir. A very nice meal though with great service, nice ambience and quality food cooked just right.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great! Service not so much.
We ordered Filet Mignon and NY Strip. They come with salad and rolls. We added the sautéed mushrooms. The serving was huge and they were delicious. The garlic mashed potatoes were not great and I don’t recommend them. For dessert we had the Butter cake but it was just ok. Lots of food and a big doggy bag. The service was horrible. If you get Bill as your server ask for another table. We were there for nearly 2 hours and had to go hunt him down a couple of times. Never got a refill on the coffee as requested. We watched the table across from us receive and eat their appetizers, meal, dessert and leave. Their table was cleaned off and reset. Another couple sat down ate their appetizers and were finishing their meals when we were finally able to pay our check and leave. We will definitely return because of the food. Not the service!
Be the first to ReplyMixed Feelings at Charley’s Steakhouse..
Our first experience at Charley’s Steakhouse left us with mixed feelings. While we entered with high expectations, our dinner didn’t quite meet them. The calamari appetizer stole the show, impressing us the most. However, the steak, according to my husband, was disappointingly dry. My salmon dish, unexpectedly wrapped in cheese, didn’t quite hit the mark either. The Mac & Cheese side appeared to be store-bought and lacked freshness, leaving us underwhelmed. On a positive note, the complimentary dessert ice cream was a delightful end to our meal. Despite the attentive staff, the overall dining experience fell short, especially considering the hefty price tag of over $200. We had hoped for better quality and variety in the dishes served.

Phenomenal service and steak/seafood selection. Huge platter of steaks and seafood brought to your table before ordering and the cuts of meat and various seafood choices are explained by the waiters so you can order knowing details about your entree. Servers work in teams so there is always someone nearby. Anthony and Fish were great. Ok school steakhouse with the dark wood paneling, low lighting and Sinatra on the speakers. Pricey but well worth it. Will come back.

Delicious food, great wine selection, service was on point and the baked cauliflower was absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyRegular upscale visitors left disappointed.
Charleys has potential, for this price point we expect a little more of a white glove service. Waiting ~10 minutes for each round of refreshments is unacceptable. The bar staff was overwhelmed with a minimal crowd perhaps a second bar back? My aged bone-in ribeye was charred and unrendered. I do not typically write negative reviews but this event was a no return for us and our recommendations wull reflect as such. We visit upscale establishments regularly and I would recommend you folks make a reservation at Council Oak in the casino. You will find an expectation of service value. White glove, customer first. Do not let someone wait.
Be the first to ReplyCharley's has forgotten their way...
Expressing my disappointment is an understatement. My family and I have been loyal patrons of Charley's since the early 2000s, and it has always been our go-to destination for special occasions. On this particular event, celebrating my father's 80th birthday, we were looking forward to the exceptional experience that Charley's had consistently provided. The evening began smoothly with appetizers, but unfortunately, things took a downturn as our server became overwhelmed. Charley's lacked a support system, and when our server struggled, the entire experience crumbled. Drink orders took an eternity, a simple request for fries for the kids turned into a 20-minute wait, and our server seemed oblivious to our requests. When the main course arrived, the standard of service and food quality, expected from a high-end establishment like Charley's, was sorely lacking. My wife's filet was significantly undercooked, despite sending it back, it returned with the same issue. My brother and I opted for the tomahawk wagyu steak, only to receive cold steaks – an unexpected disappointment at Charley's. Even dessert became a test of patience, as it took a staggering 25 minutes for our coffees and desserts to arrive. This was the final straw, prompting me to express my concerns to the manager. Our visit to Charley's was fueled by expectations based on our past experiences, but sadly, the current state of service and quality no longer aligns with what Charley's used to stand for. Instead, we received a service comparable to that of a casual dining restaurant like Chili's. Regrettably, we have decided not to return. Competitors like Flemings, Eddie Vs, and Capital Grill prioritize their customers' experience, emphasizing service and quality. It's disheartening to see Charley's veer away from the standards that once set it apart
Be the first to ReplyTruly The Best Steak House In Tampa
I lived my entire life in Tampa, and had never made it to Charley's Steak House until now, in my 60s. Wow, what a mistake that long wait was! This place is incredible. I thought it quite superior to other nationally-known steak houses in Tampa. The property is beautiful and classy, with lots of beautiful wood interiors. The food was amazing! We had Wagyu beef, standard filet, porterhouse, alligator, garlic mashed and au gratin potatoes, bacon/cheese creamed corn, broccolini.......... every dish a culinary masterpiece, prepared perfectly. Dessert was creme brulee and sweet butter cake with ice cream. Also on the menu that we didn't order: Chilean sea bass, lamb chops, bison ribeye, lobster, snapper, stone crab......... an embarrassment of riches. They also offer an extensive assortment of tasty hand-crafted cocktails, as well as a rich and varied wine selection. The service was world-class. Stephanie, our server, was wonderfully knowledgeable and informative, friendly, enthusiastic, attentive and personable. She was an absolute delight. I could not recommend Charley's any higher. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, and I will certainly be back as often as possible.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Service, Meals, and Atmosphere
Our reservations were for 5:30 and we arrived early and were promptly seated. Service was impeccable, food was exquisite, and atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. App was gator bites which were delicious. 4 of us had the wagyu filet mignon and 1 had the porkchop. All meals were plentiful, presentation was beautiful, and the cook was exactly as we each requested. 3 had the house salad and 1 the wedge and all were better than expected for salads. Baked potatoes were ginormous so definitely share if wanting one! The cheesy garlic bread was scrumptious! We shared the strawberry cake and chocolate cake and while both were great, we preferred the strawberry cake. Josh and JT were our waiters and they were attentive, suggestions were on point, and overall they were both outstanding.

Today you need to review the most recent reviews, as "times have changed", and living of previous years of success shouldn't steer one in a mis-direction. Cutting to the chase, had a reservation and stood in lobby for 20 minutes after the time of the reservation, suggesting that my time wasn't secured to assure me a proper seating (on a Monday night!). Three guests, and 2/3 walked out after dinner saying we would never return. 1 ate 3 bites and was done. The asparagus was tough, and the bread was buried in some cheese and butter, more diner-like than a 5 star steakhouse. Steaks were dry and way over peppered. The '24 oz Porterhouse' wqs closer to the 12 oz you get at Texas Roadhouse. STeaks at steakhouses are supposed to be at least an inch thick. This $70 piece was far from that. The other steaks were well over an inch thick, and upon delivering of my steak, one of my guests asked if I had ordered the child's portion. Service was good but phony....came for dinner, not a show. Spent > $350 and would not suggest returning. Very disappointing.

We were celebrating a family birthday. We came from out of town and had an 8:15 reservation made weeks in advance. We arrived 30 minutes EARLY and let the hostess know we were here, and waiting in the bar. We did not ask to be seated any earlier and acknowledged that we would check back in at reservation time. We did… multiple times.. and finally at 8:45 approached hostesses about canceling because we were hungry and tired of waiting. Their excuse.. table of 10 were “ still sitting at table even though their tab had been closed”. I understand they couldn’t ask (of course) table to leave, but they should have been more apologetic to us and had manager come in to offer an appetizer and a round of drinks for our inconvenience. Nothing. Zip. Nada. No acknowledgment or attempt to keep our party happy for clearly overbooking the table. We were not seated until after 9, or any food until 9:30-45 ish which by then we were over it. I did not complain in person, ( quite frankly because it was my birthday and I did not want my family members to feel bad about my dissatisfaction) but if I had made the reservation I would have spoken to the manager at 8:30 when We first started asking when we would be seated… 1 hour after our reservation time. Food was fine, but not worth a 10pm meal time. 👎🏻
Be the first to ReplyOkay but NOT worth the price
Had a large party (11 people) for a celebration. Was seated in a private room which was wonderful as we could not disturb other guest. Sadly that was the best part of the evening. We ordered several appetizers. The waiter touted the crab cakes. They were subpar at best. The gator was great, the Ahi was also great. Entrees were very disappointing. The snapper was delicious as I would expect in a costal area however the steaks were 100% a huge disappointment!!! Our party had a total of 4 steaks at $125 each and the texture and taste were less than most $35 steaks I have had around the country. Finally dessert was mixed. The chocolate cake fabulous, the crème brulee pathetic. Overall NOT worth the $1100 price tag. Will NOT be back

We were visiting family in Tampa who suggested Charleys instead of Berns Steakhouse. The service was more than excellent. The food was so delicious especially the truffle sauce that came with the steak.

My husband and I have always talked about visiting Charley’s- and since we read about the location’s property about to be used by the DOT, we thought now or never. In full disclosure- we ate at the bar. But, our issues with the visit were not due to lack of atmosphere. For the price point, I expected far better service, and far better food (entrees). Our bill was over $200.00, and that was for a petite filet with a bland Bernaise, an undercooked piece of salmon (asked for medium, was raw in center), 2 Al a carte vegetables, one glass of wine (basic), and 1 dessert. The stars of the show were the creamed corn and asparagus. The salad (included with entree) was drenched in dressing. Bread was quite tasty. Dessert was acceptable. We had to ask for water to be refilled, a wine menu, and had to wait several times for the server to circle back around. I also found it odd that we stated we were eating at the bar, and they still asked us to open a tab upon arrival (never had been asked when eating at a bar before).

This was a great atmosphere to dine in. Our waiter and other staff who assisted were all friendly and gave us exceptional service. The food from starters through dessert were very well proportioned and delicious!! Well worth the money. Everyone should experience this excellence if they are in area.
Be the first to ReplyA perfect pleasure
We rented a private room for our very large family gathering of about 15 people. We had small children with us, who had way too much energy, but waitstaff were always pleasant and patient. The seafood towers were fantastic and the steaks were wonderful. Honestly, I don't have any complaints whatsoever about this restaurant! It was a complete pleasure!

I have visited Charley's on multiple occasions, thus I obviously enjoy the food. My meal this time was no exception. The crab cake app is and remains a favorite of many...to include myself. The salad was good...but not as good as in the past. Additionally, the blue cheese crumbs were quite large (my preference would be fewer large pieces and more smaller ones IOT better spread throughout the entire salad). Their steaks are always perfect. And my desert was okay, but nothing special. At their prices, I expect every course to be perfect or exceptional and this visit I was at 50-50. I will give them another shot, but if every course isn't as expected...I will find a new place to visit.

My first time here was last night, and today my second one. I couldn’t resist repeat. OMG the salad, the lobster bisque, and the steak. Everything was so tasty. This is definitely the best restaurant I’ve been, cozy place, and the best service. Yesterday, I had the pleasure to have Max as my waiter, Great energy, kind, very positive vibe, and very assertive with his recommendations. So today when I came back and ask for him, they say that he was not working today, but I have Adonis, who had with the same great energy and vibe, assertive and funny I couldn’t be happier with this place. ,

I’ve been fine dining my entire life and this was absolutely the worst steakhouse I’ve ever dined at. There were 4 of us and we each ordered a different cut and the only one that was not sinuous and burnt was the filet. The entryway smelled moldy, the booth a bit worn, server adequate, the sides, cocktails, and dessert were good but who goes there for that?! We wanted a great, mouth watering steak. We were very disappointed. It’s pricey (everything is a la cart) so one expects an excellent atmosphere, service, food and experience. Even if their pricing changed I wouldn’t return. I had heard great things about Charley’s but perhaps they’re working on a past reputation. I had a wonderful meal at Berns. Go there instead.

I came with a friend while helping out with disaster relief. I had the single pork chop ( $27.) , I have to say it was one of the best chops I ever had. It came with a house salad, and we split a augratin potatoes ($14. ) my friend had the center cut filet mignon 12 oz. ( $75.) He enjoyed it also. We sat at the bar and everyone was helpful and accommodating.
