fantastic experience on a special occasion
faultless service and food is all i can say, everything is smooth, the staff make it look effortless, for starters i had duck dish that was sublime and my wife had salmon, prepared in three different ways, my main was a pork cheek, not something i would normally have but it was quite simply the best and most tender i have ever had, it’s not cheap but it’s not extornate either at £85 for three courses each. recommended
Be the first to ReplyGreat ! But too pricey por moi
Ah just been to my fav restaurant, very sadly don’t think I’ll go again, just so sad priced themselves out of the market, no complaints, food, service , sorry Bruce , can’t afford you now, for what we got I can go in a holiday, I hope the richer folk keep supporting you, having said that it was very quiet
Be the first to ReplyFabulous dinner (the lobster raviolo is to die for!)
Visited Chez Bruce as part of a no-corkage BYO wine deal from my wine merchant. Took the allowed bottle each - a white 2001 CdP, and a 1998 Saint-Julien - and settled in to the attractive, light and airy room for the £85 per head three course dinner. I opted for the starter of Lobster Raviolo in a lobster bisque, with brown shrimps, and samphire (£7.50 supplement), which was out of this world! A huge raviolo with a generous portion of beautifully cooked lobster, and a rich bisque. The slightly elderly CdP was a great accompaniment. My wife had gin-cured mackerel with smoked eel croquette, pickled rhubarb, horseradish and tarragon, which was also pronounced superb. For mains, we both had the Chateaubriand with hand cut chips, and bearnaise sauce (£10 supplement). So tender and delicious and the perfect accompanient to the Saint-Julien. Two clean plates were delivered back to the kitchen! We then opted to share a Grande Assiette de Fromage (£7.50 supplement) to accompany the last of the red wine, and the 10 cheese morsels were well chosen, and excellent. We shared a dessert of hazelnut financier with vanilla ice cream and poached pear, and it was sublime - accompanied with the last of the white CdP that had (probably over-) matured to resemble the slightly sweet elements of a dessert wine. Our dining experience was enhanced by the delightful Greta, who served us with a smile, and great personality. It was nice to hear about her culinary journey from Lake Garda to London. She is a real asset to the restaurant. We had a thoroughly lovely experience, and would not hesitate to recommend Chez Bruce. We had lunch at their sister restaurant, La Trompette in Chiswick, last summer, and both are restaurants are definitely worth seeking out.
Be the first to ReplyDon't go if you are lactose intolerant
I went for a friends birthday. I am lactose intolerant and have migraine from anything citrus. I phoned up a week before and explained this, and I received a return phone call during which I explained I had been a few times before and had a very sparse meal at the same price as my companions, and I wanted to have the benefits of the Michelin rating. It was, at best a terse conversation, during which I was told I was being fussy!! I was being challenged one step too far here, as its no fun living with food intolerances. I was told chef was too busy tomato special sauces but as it was a close friend I still went after being told they would do their best to accommodate me. The staff there were lovely, and I was told I would be given a special menu. This consisted of 2 options for starters, and one for a main course, roast pork, where all the items were included. I did ask about substitution of 'cream' on the other two options but the replies were vague when I asked if an item would just be left off (as on the last 2 occasions) or substituted, I struggled to have an answer. I went with the aubergine, which was I guess 8/10 and the pork, which I have to say was fine but not worth a Michelin star, more a pub lunch, and roast potatoes which looked amazing but unimpressive to eat. Out of all the options on the desert menu, not one was available, but I was told the chef had done a 'special' rhubarb dish for me, I was quite excited... However, boiled rhubarb sprinkled with a nuts etc? ... no, not Michelin . Almost all sauces/mashes/ custards can be made with plant milk, I do it all the time and this was lazy, particularly as they knew in advance and we had an early booking. The extras were delicious, the service friendly and impeccable, but £120.00 for this plus 2/3 glasses of wine- not going back
Be the first to ReplyDeliciousness in London
Some of the highest quality food and service in London. A simply wonderful experience; well-paced and a variety on the menu without spreading itself too thin. Highly recommended for a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyPerfection
Today was my wifes birthday and we've just had a perfect lunch. The ham hock soup exceptional. The stuffed pigs trotter unctuous and finally the lady cake was out of this world. Please if you're in London go. We've been going for 40yrs and it's still the greatest restaurant in London
Be the first to ReplyGood but not brilliant
We’ve been regulars at this restaurant for years. We felt that its usual standard is slipping a bit. The staff at chez Bruce used to 5 star, now they are quite as attentive and aware of customer needs. I only recognised one member of staff, so perhaps there have been a lot of new recruits recently. The food was good, but not as amazing as it once was, I had a sea bream main course which was quite average… I hope this was a one off glitch and that they get back to being one of the best restaurants that they were not too long ago
Be the first to ReplyDefinitely not as good as the rating suggests
Such rude service, Manager was awful, sub standard experience for Michelin dining service and ambience felt like a pub.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing dining experience.
Book the private dining room for a Christmas celebration. What an amazing experience. Amy handled our booking and her attention to detail was seamless. The food and service are outstanding simply the BEST. Thank you Victor for the wine recommendations. We will for sure be back again. Please ensure you pass on our appreciation to the waiter who looked after us he is a credit to the restaurant and extremely professional. The best dining experience we all had. Thank you for a special day we will all remember.
Be the first to ReplyRegular, (about twice a year) visits. Somewhere special
A very pleasant restaurant. We tend to use for special celebrations, convenient for the station if you don't want to drive.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best!!
This restaurant continues to excel itself. A warm welcome and choice of table was a good start. Well mixed gin martinis, tasty parmesan biscuits and fabulous focaccia to nibble while perusing the menus. Very extensive wine list to suit any palate. Starters - lobster raviolo was superb, stuffed full of lobster, with a very tasty lobster bisque. Mains - succulent venison loin and glazed sausage bursting with flavour as was the flaking Cornish hake with shellfish cassoulet. Dessert - deliciously hot chocolate pudding rounded off an evening of tasting delights. Excellent, professional service through out the evening too. Just two observations. The complimentary truffles have dwindled over time from a small bag to just two nowadays. And, the wooden chairs, without any padding, were really uncomfortable after a while - maybe I'll bring my own cushion next time! Otherwise a superb dining experience!
Be the first to ReplySuperb cuisine a must visit.
An absolutely superb experience and gastronomic feast. Four of us went for lunch and we shared a number of starters and main courses. Every dish was amazing. I didn’t share my dessert which was also brilliant. Staff very good as well. Definitely worth a visit and good value.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful service, food and experience
We had a lovely time here - it is expensive but worth it as a treat for the wonderful food and service. The lobster and the tuna starters were both delicious. The chateaubriand was melt in the mouth and the chips plentiful and delicious. Amazing experience!

I went with friends last Tuesday to Chez Bruce. I didn't go for a long time, so I was very curious to try it again. Inhad the Orange segments salad as starter. It was a very simple salad of greens and orange but with a delicious dressing of pecorino cheese that made it very special. As a main course I had the Roasted vodka with olive mash and gremolata. It was perfectly cooked and the mash was just the right balance. The desserts are always fantastic. Service impeccable. I will be coming again very soon.

This hidden gem nestled opposite leafy Wandsworth Common is a real delight. Warm & welcoming, with faultless, friendly service & a menu filled with delicious temptations. The rhubarb bellinis were a great start to a wonderful evening.

Food just absolutely outstanding. Everything we ate was perfect. We hadn’t visited for ages so were pleased it was just as great as we remembered! Thanks for a lovely birthday meal for my husband.
Be the first to ReplyWhen did Chez Bruce become the first Michelin star fast food restaurant ?
We had apparently a 2 hour 15 minute table allocation. We were the first sitting. After 1 hour 30 minutes we were ready to order from the dessert menu. We asked to share a cheese portion, and a dessert, and to have the cheese first. We were very firmly told that we did not have enough time to have cheese first then dessert. At this point we had another 45 minutes. In true London style, it is far from a relaxing night out. If it is not parking meters you are stressing over the time limit, it is very expensive restaurants with a rigid agenda so they can make more money, ruining what was meant to be a special night out. Bruce, I was a very loyal client at the time you were building up your reputation. I was there at the New Years Eve dinner where your restaurant was nearly annihilated by coked up revellers. I will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyA perfect evening
Wow! We had the most wonderful evening yesterday dining at Chez Bruce. The attention we were giving from the staff was top notch.... friendly, helpful and kind. As for the food I don't think I've ever eaten such amazing food! The sommelier advised us on the perfect wines too. Overall a perfect evening. Thank you to all the team Andrea Harvey

As good as it gets for classic cooking…the pigs trotter is the benchmark! The service impeccable and ambience was just perfect.
Be the first to ReplyGood food but lacks atmosphere
We recently had supper at Chez Bruce. The meal was of a high standard, but for the prices they charge, the dining experience could be improved. The restaurant atmosphere was very cold, from the attitude of the staff to the decor of the restaurant. Everything was very rushed too, we were pressured to order, pressured to finish the meal and pressured to pay with speed and leave the restaurant. We probably will not return there in a hurry.
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic dining experience
For 26 years I have been meaning to come to this gem on Wandsworth Common. My regret is I never visited sooner. The service is excellent and staff are knowledgeable on dishes and wine and deliver service with warmth. The food was excellent from starter to dessert. Looking forward to my return in 2023.
Be the first to ReplyMagnifique!
Wow, what an experience. Visiting my sister who lives in London (ex pat), had dinner last night on our final night in London (12/8/2022-US DATE). Three course meal with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, hit the spot. The food was really good and the service was great until the end when we waited a little while longer for our desserts as we had to ask to see how long it would take. Then more time trying to ask for the check. It was definitely well worth it.

Glorious lunch fantastic starters samosas spicy just fantastic Cod main course a10 lovely then blackberry ice cream service and team 10 out of 10 cannot wait to rebook
Be the first to ReplyNot going back.
Just came back from Chez Bruce. Won't be going again. I can accept many things in a restaurant but not filthy crockery in a place that charges so much. Its a nice venue, but the side of chips came in what can only be described as an unwashed pudding bowl. The pudding was identifiable, raspberry sorbet stuck around the outside and the rim. If we could see it they should have, not just a little but a lot? The cod was overcooked and over salted, the veal chop was tough and the knives blunt. I have given 3 stars as the staff are nice but instead if apologising for any of the issues they took money off the bill. I can't understand this as a way to make customers want to return? It doesn't. Its clearly lost its mojo.. or probably its once good chef... certainly its attention to detail.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely incredible, a birthday dinner to remember
We had such an amazing time here, everything was perfect. We had three courses and chose different things but tried each other’s and every single thing was divine, absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and friendly too and Bruce also took the time to greet all the guests personally which I really liked. An absolutely unforgettable experience, I cannot recommend this place enough!
