Loved it - excellent place in a great travel location between Westchester NY/Ct/NJ transit points Food was far and above Diner level- delicious and fresh fish main courses, excellent cocktails and amazing desserts with a full range of food choices. Be the first to ReplyI've been there a couple of times.
The service is stellar with a wonderful ambiance. The food is average. I've only been there for breakfast so I have this place 3 starts knowing that there are so many diners that have much better food.

Well prepared foods of all types, Italian, deli foods, burgers, and more . . . a good diner to go to eat. I do like their shakes as well. Place is good but beginning to show signs of age ... can use some touching up - - - but don't let that deter you, still looks good and more importantly, clean. Nice little bakery inside as well. My only concern is the staff, young, good intentioned, but really need a more hands on manager to mentor and train them better. Being next to the Westchester County Center means busy, and lot of locals go there as well, so keep that in mind - - - it is big but often busy! Bar is good, but the pours are adequate not generous - - - still they are tasty drinks.
Be the first to ReplyDry cheese omelette, burned throughout, way too thick.
Boring and tasteless hash browns. They seem to be on cruise control based on their great location. Nothing stands out here. Service is good, I cannot fault the wait staff.

I've been coming here over 14yrs. It's an Upscale Diner with great food and great service. Wait staff are very attentive. Food is always excellent. Went to multiple restaurants in a day and this was one stop that was a must.

We like to balance out negative reviews with positive ones, so since we just posted a negative one on a restaurant in Morristown, NJ, it's time for a positive one. We first became aware of City Limits Diner on an episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" with the second appearance of Ricky Gervais on the show. We were scheduled to travel through White Plains anyway, so decided to stop by. A+ in every aspect. Extremely friendly and efficient wait staff without being obsequious. Outstanding breakfast food: real hash browns and amazingly fresh heuvos rancheros with amazing flavor. Great toast, well toasted. Superior sausage link. Bacon & ham didn't quite keep up -- still good. Kitchen staff is not just mailing it in. Kudos. Owner should consider handing out some bonuses here.

I surprisingly ordered the chicken burger and my friend ordered a Reuben. I normally get beef, but I was in the mood for something different. I actually had hesitation after I ordered it thinking it might come out very dry. Well was I wrong! This chicken burger was so delicious, flavored with vegetables, and severely juicy. I loved it! The avocado on top was a delicious touch. The Ruben sandwich was equally perfect on toasty buttered bread dripping with cheese and ample corned beef. The french fries that accompanied both sandwiches were so crisp and perfectly prepared. The wait staff was awesome, and very accommodating to all of our needs. It was a really wonderful experience.

The turkey bacon and spinach omelette is excellent and the coffee is very good. I'd definitely recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyI've been going to City Limits since they opened.
The service, ambience has always been good. Tonight I had a cheeseburger with mushrooms. No taste. The ketchup was watered down. I didn't finish it. I won't even mention the fries. They say they use Kobe beef. No sir, they do not. What a shame, can't even make a decent burger.

Desserts are good, but food is pricey and inconsistent and the restaurant is at times miserly with portions. Drinks too much $$$.
Be the first to Replythe meal was horrible.
all the food was stale not fresh. for the amount paid, it should have been better quality food. i have my receipt and a refund should be given asap!

Great food served super fast and with a pre-Covid price point! Sandwiches here are especially good. Yes, some menu items are better than another. If you came here once and thought it was mediocre, give it another chance and try the Grilled Salmon Club or Crispy Cod Sandwich. Order a Coconut Banana Cream Pie for dessert and you will keep coming back for more.

Restaurant was funny and funny looking lights hanging from the ceiling I like 1960. Very crowded food was OK. My friend asked for a small orange juice. I ask for a large orange juice. We both got the same size. I asked him for a chocolate, egg cream I got coffee I was so busy in conversation with the company. I totally forgot about the chocolate cream until I paid the bill. so either the weather forgot, I wanted a large orange juice and chocolate egg cream, and mix my order up with someone else because it's so busy in there. I had steak and eggs the steak was very veiny.

Food is consistently good and this place is a classic go to in Westchester. Always find something yummy, healthy, and homemade
Be the first to ReplyOne of our favorite local restaurants eateries for lunch.
The Honey tells me she loves the Oriental Chicken Salad. (She prefers it with romaine lettuce instead of the mixed field greens.). The dressing is flavorful, the grilled chicken is generously portion and well cooked, the taro strips crunchy. I prefer the Country Breakfast - scrambled eggs (or cooked to your liking) bacon, sausage and Canadian Bacon. Delicious! And the coffee is excellent too. We keep saying we should have dinners here - will report when that happens.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Slightly pricy but the food and service are top notch! I can spend hours in this beautiful space!

City limits is only a few dollars more than the local diners yet the quality is ten times better. Had another great breakfast here. Service and food hasn't disappointed yet!
Be the first to ReplyI have eaten at City Limits for years.
The food's taste is consistent and the service is good. I always order lobster crab cake eggs Benedict.

This diner is by my home so we use to go to it 3-4 times a year when the family was undecided on what to eat. The first time that I went to City Limits over 20 years ago, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and flavors. They had restaurant quality food - not diner quality. Unfortunately, in recent years the quality of the food that I have eaten has gone down dramatically and the prices have spiked tremendously. I'm not much of a cook so when my wife says, "you make better eggs Benedict than they do", you know that they no longer have restaurant quality food. The issue, like many other diners, is that they are trying to cook food that they honestly don't know how to cook. I recently had their Asian chicken salad and they gave me radicchio with mixed greens, taro chips, beefsteak tomatoes, a few poached bland boring slices of a wannabe chicken, and the nastiest tasting salad dressing that I have ever eaten; there was nothing Asian about it. On top of that, they are ridiculously expensive. The chicken salad was $19 and the eggs benedict was $16. Avocado toast was like $13. My over all bill was $56 with tax/tipTheir service is great. The staff is very attentive and it is the nicest looking diner in this area. Hopefully, they can improve the quality of the food and bill more reasonable prices.
Be the first to ReplyI've been going to City Limits for more than 20 years.
I've never had a bad meal there. It's consistency is it's greatest virtue. We go mostly for breakfast, sometimes lunch. I miss the coffee mugs.

If you like a relaxing lunch to talk with old friends or business acquaintances (you will be there over one hour) - City Limits is the place for you. A large comfortable diner with professional service - unlimited coffee and soda. Full bar. Never a wait unless perhaps at lunch or weekend breakfast. Large private parking lot.Excellent Ruben sandwich, giant cheeseburger, Turkey club on in store baked Chibatta, chicken burger with fresh herbs. Better than average fries - one fry cone cup is big enough for two people. Good potato salad and cold slaw and pickles. All portions are big enough to split.

This restaurant is a really good if your looking for a sit down breakfast spot. Lots of choices and I'm never disappointed with what I get. The only downside is the prices maybe a little more than your typical Diner food spot. But I will say it is definitely an upgrade than your normal diner. Check it out I'm sure you will like it.

I now work at a spot that is closer to the restaurant and have picked up food on my way home a few times out of necessity. With the exception of one bad experience, I have to say that the service has much-improved. I have ordered by phone, arrived and ordered a drink at the bar while waiting on my takeaway, brought the food home and been satisfied despite a few misses. There are many items you just can't go wrong with, like their city limits burger, salmon sandwich and turkey club. I would probably skip their onion rings as the breading is not executed well and falls off the onion like cheap drywall (picture posted). Their milkshakes alsare also not that great. I'm not sure what kind of ice-cream they use but the first and last milkshake I got from them tasted like they used water and milk to make it. It was terrible. On a brighter note, their serving sizes are enough where we each are able to split in two and the quality of the food is pretty good. I would also suggest that, if you are ordering any of their wraps to-go, check the ingredients and have them pack any watery ingredients separately, such as a salsa or dressing. I ordered a shrimp wrap and asked them to pack the dressing separately but forgot about the sale and once I got home to eat it, the tortilla wrap just about disintegrated. In recent visits, when I have arrived to pick up my food, even when they've been minutes to closing, the bartender has been attentive, acknowledging me when I sit, which is appreciated. I hate going into a business and have to yell across to get someone's attention after having been waiting for 10-15 minutes. Especially when the staff sees you walk in and the place is not busy.Whomever brings me my order is also very nice. I feel way more welcomed as opposed being a bother, as it felt in the past. I can see a turnaround and while I might not go out of my way to venture here, if I am in the area, I wouldn't mind stopping by for happy hour or grabbing some food to-go.
