It's a Minneapolis staple for a reason! Colita has literally always blown us away - from their beautiful atmosphere, unique cocktails and of course, delicious food. Highly recommend for a nicer date night or a celebration of any kind!

A really solid spot for a more upscale Mexican experience in Minne. And they have a really convenient parking lot! Service was also pretty attentive even though I came by myself. I lucked out not having resys but at least I could seat myself at the bar for one person, and they do offer the full menu at the bar too.+ Horchata: Tasty but sweeter than what I would have liked. This one is a pass for me as the quantity to value ratio wasn't that great ($9 for a wine glass of it with a giant ice cube in it)+ Tuna tostada: really tasty and everything meshed well in terms of flavor. Only comes with 2 though, so again you'll need to order more if you're sharing.+ Lamb barbacoa tacos: plenty of flavor and sauce. It does have a kick to it for me, as I dont usually handle spice very well. Nice presentation too.

We went to Colita on a double date last night and had great food and a fun time. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes passed our reservation time for our table but enjoyed a drink at the bar. Once seated, the host gave us a complimentary Masa and Guacamole app to share, which was a very nice gesture and easily made up for the wait. The guac, hummus and guajillo salsa on this platter were all outstanding. We also ordered the following:-Charred Eggplant Tostada--I was skeptical at first because I'm not a huge fan of eggplant but this was my favorite entree of the night. The eggplant was charred to perfection and every bite was a crispy mouthful of goodness.-Lamb Tacos--very good, just wish there was a little bit of heat.-Mushroom Tacos--very umami flavor, so good.-Corn Elote--creamy deliciousness.- Seared scallops--finally the spice I was looking for and the carrot purée brought a perfect balance to the dish. These were great.Fried green tomato salad--good but I will try something else next time.-Paloma Nacional cocktail--I'm not a huge Paloma fan but my wife loved it.-Drink with bubbles and rubber duck (I don't remember the name...)--this was surprisingly delicious and the bubbles weren't just for show, they added a nice saltiness to the drink.-Churros--STAR OF THE SHOW, this is one of the best desserts I've ever had. The outside was crispy and the inside was soft like a pillow. The dulce de leche was phenomenal and the dulce cream topped it off. I would go back just for this.At the end of the meal, they comped us with a fermented drinks, and again apologized for the wait time. These were tasty and a nice end to the night. The food was great, staff was friendly and the interior was spectacular. We will be back!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent tostadas.
The bartenders are phenomenal and they have amazing non-alcoholic drinks.

Ok, I get the hype now! This palace was so tasty and such a fun vibe. We came here on a double date and loved everything: the food, the drinks, the ambience and the service! Definitely plan to come back and recommend to all!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service.
The food is outstanding... can't say enough good things about it. What to get?: corn elote, fried green pepper salad, pork tacos, scallops, and churros! Good mocktails as well!

Great staff friendly and knowledgeable

Excellent service, food was amazing! I love the zero proof drink selection too which made going out in dry Jan. a little more fun. The tres leches is amazing!

Be the first to ReplyI've been meaning to go here FOREVER and finally went this
I've been meaning to go here FOREVER and finally went this week!!! My main tip is make a reservation!!!!! They are BUSY and having a reservation will make your life a lot easier! I order the Claudestina as my drink and that was super good. A little smoky though, so I'm unsure if I'd get it again. But I liked how they present the drinks in a fun way. For food, I got the cacio e pepe toastada and the mushroom taco. To be honest...and don't hate me...the cacio e pepe didn't impress me a ton. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but it honestly tasted just like really high quality cheese on a chip. Adding the hot sauce they gave with it made it a lot better. I'm unsure if I'd get it again. The mushroom tacos, on the other hand, were AMAZING. Probably one of the best tacos I've ever had. Absolutely delicious and so flavorful. To top it all off, we finished our meal with the churros which was EASILY the best part of the meal. The churros here are INSANELY good, and if you are coming here they seriously are a must order. I'll be thinking about those churros for a long time... They should really just open a churro restaurant because I want to just get those all the time.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food and fun drinks.
Service was good. Lots of tequila options for cocktails. Some of the cocktails on the menu are made with an in-house fermented mix which contains alcohol (added to a normal cocktail) - super delicious, comes in a weird cup though?! I was worried I would spill on myself :) But super cool and photo-worthy (and delish). Pricey if you are looking to get multiple plates.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was ok, but the service was awful.
The reason I gave it two stars is that you need to take out a loan to eat a taco. Really, $16+ for a taco is a joke. Plus the extra automatic 5% for the help, and tip, you might as well go to manny's.Of well, won't go back and won't recommend.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent waiter, beautifully presented food for sharing.
We ordered too much but managed to eat it all! It is not the typical "AmericanMexican" food which is why I liked it.
Be the first to ReplyThe best vibe and wanted to love it.
They served me chicken tinga tacos with a bones and feathers... We told the manager and he was very apologetic and comped us for the chicken and scallops. My issue is that we had to pay for everything else... I feel like if they wanted to make it right, they'd compensate for the entire meal. I feel like they took advantage of my age/friendliness and thought comping $50 of a $150 meal was good enough after serving me feathers and bones
Be the first to ReplyThis place is pretty good.
Not everything is a total home run, but many things are. The eggplant tostadas are probably my favorite thing there. It's pricey and the portions are small, but that's to be expected from the nicer restaurants, so that's not a point against them, just don't be surprised or expecting otherwise.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic, but expensive for small plates.
We had the chicken tingas and the carnitas

What a fun concept! The star of the show for us was the Chicken Liver. The dud of the day was the Casio e Pepe Tostada; the flavor profile was just missing something. I would definitely return to try more menu items!! We also ordered the Green Chili tacos; they were spicier than I thought (although I am a big wuss to mild spice). A friend of mine said the Mushroom tacos were really good. The Aguachile was nice and bright with great textures; would order again!

This was my first time ever going to Colita and it's definitely one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. Definitely make sure to get a reservation - it was packed, even on a Monday night. They have a nice patio too. They do have a small parking lot, but be prepared to park on the street. Parking was free. Here is what I tried and my thoughts:Cocktails:- T&T: 10/10 might be the best cocktail I've ever had. Just a hint of sweetness, extremely refreshing, perfect in every way.- Naked Dani #2: 8/10 but presentation was a 10/10, definitely a good choice if you like sweet drinks- La Clandestina: 8/10 smoky and sweet, nice presentation as wellFood:- Mass & Guacamole: 9/10 the hummus was amazing and so was the guac- Beef Tartare: 10/10 spicy and flavorful, I never knew beef tartare could taste so good- Eggplant Tostadas: 7/10 great flavor but the eggplant was pretty tough- Shrimp tacos: 8/10 solid and the sauce was good- Seared scallops: 10/10 cooked to perfection and the carrot purée it was served with was to die for - I would eat a bowl of it if given the opportunity.- Churros: 10/10 must get, crunchy and soft, the sauces served with it were excellent.

Have been here three times and the food is good but the churros really stood out! Would love to see a rotating menu though. I can only really justify coming back just for the churros.
Be the first to ReplyWe sampled many items-cucumber watermelon salad, tempura
We sampled many items-cucumber watermelon salad, tempura fried shrimp tacos, corn elote,, lobster tostadas, and chicken tinga tostadas. We had churros and pineapple almond cake for dessert. The churros were amazing!! Everything was absolutely delicious. Our server was helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is lovely whether dining indoors or on the patio. And the drinks are also great!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent cuisine.
The appetizers are interesting with a nice variety. Try the ribs, shrimp tacos and of course the churros for the finale!!!!!! Service seemed a little off. Overall give it a shot.

I put together a short notice Girl's Night and the only time that worked for all of us was Sunday early evening. Colita was on my short list of restaurants to try, and I was able to snag a table at 4:45. To say that it exceeded my expectations is an understatement. Easily one of the best meals I've had since before the pandemic. This is the ideal spot to try a lot of different items on the menu and get a real feel for the offerings. Be bold-try something that you normally wouldn't! I took photos of our impressively presented cocktails and then one small plate, but I couldn't have been bothered after that to do anything but enjoy what was placed in front of me. The space itself is gorgeous. Larger than it appears from outside, the decor is minimal except for the lush plant wall behind the bar. The patio was lovely, and even though we weren't seated outside the restaurant is open on two sides. We were there on one of those rare Minnesota evenings with temps in the 70's and no humidity. The entire restaurant felt like an open-air experience. I would not hesitate to order from the bar if I came in without a reservation. Service was attentive and gracious. Our waitress, Alexis, handled our orders and the timing of each dish flawlessly. The cocktails were works of art, and set the tone and expectation for everything that followed. We were able to try the Tuna Tosta, Charred Eggplant Tostada, Tempura Fried Shrimp Tacos, Elote Corn, Lobster Tostada and Lamb Barbacoa Tacos. The Lobster Tostada was incredible, the shrimp and eggplant were close runners-up. Don't be put off by the "tempura" on the shrimp, these are not heavily battered prawns. The tortillas used in every dish were so delicate, not in texture, but in taste. All of the ingredients were so fresh, with wonderful spice levels-although I could definitely go hotter. We finished with Churros and the Pineapple Almond Cake. I can't pick which one I liked better. I have definitely found a new favorite restaurant. Everything was so delicious, there's not a plate that I wouldn't hesitate to order again. But there's a lot more I want to try, so a future visit will happen soon!
Be the first to ReplyThe food here was so good that even though we sat outside
The food here was so good that even though we sat outside and it was 95 degrees, all of us had a great time. Smaller portions, but the quality is worth it. I want to particularly shout out the chicken liver memelita, which was beautiful, purely on an aesthetic level, and also exceedingly delicious--savory and layered and complicated and fresh. My partner--who is usually grossed out by offal of any kind--was willing to try it and genuinely enjoyed it. Really a standout dish.Otherwise, great service and execution all around. We'll visit again, I'm sure.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was so so so good.
One of the best restaurants we've been to in awhile. We got the shrimp tacos, pork tacos and cacio e pepe, all were flavorful. Will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyAnother visit.
Another fabulous meal with great drinks. You pay a lot here but it's one of the few fancy Mexican restaurants. And it's all wonderful.
