Wow, this meal was delicious.
We got a bottle of wine, the squash carpaccio, the whipped ricotta, and the scallops. The squash carpaccio was surprisingly one of the tastiest things I've eaten. We finished the whole plate between two of us. The whipped ricotta was good. A little too sweet for me, but my mom loved it. The bread it came with was perfectly grilled. The scallops were delicious, and they came with onions that had the mildest flavor, almost like a leek/ potato. Delicious. We got gelato for dessert and were very shocked by the $18 price point for 2 scoops, but it really was good. We tried the chocolate, pistachio, olive oil, and coffee. They were all great. Service was great. Very attentive. Beautiful, dim lit space.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance and great location in the design district.
Great option for a date. The bread that comes out first is great. Service is was solid and the drinks were good. The pasta was good not great, but it you're in the area and looking for Italian this is a great dinner option.

I was more impressed with Contessa than I thought I would be. I figured it was just another overhyped Miami spot. However, I am happy to report that Contessa proved me wrong. Let's start with the ambiance. The gorgeous decor and the Latin/Italian music playing in the background help to elevate the dining experience. Our server, Alex, made us feel like queens for the evening. The flavors of every part of our meal were perfectly balanced, which resulted in an absolutely delightful meal. We had the whipped ricotta, shrimp mezzaluna, and torta di baci. I highly recommend them all. To drink I had the wynwood sour. Give it a sip if you're a bourbon fan like me. This is the perfect place to come for a celebration or to impress a date or just because you want to treat yourself. Just come!

Shopping in DD with a friend but we were both famished and decided to pop in. Definitely had the Carbone feel walking in. Beautiful restaurant - was surprised by the faux flowers. Food was pretty good - the lamb chops and garlic broccoli were my fav. The squash carpaccio was good. Because we popped in at an odd hour, service was slow. I felt like he was very attentive when we arrived and when food was delivered, but then dropped off the map. We had to flag someone down eventually for a bill. Seems like the dinner menu might be worth coming back for.

Food was okay, I had to send my main back it was way too salty. Octopus appetizer was really good, what got me really annoyed is that they charge for WATER? 9.00 per person which was outrageous, nothing special just bottled water, never going back
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful space.
But as with most of what we saw in Miami this week. A lot of show...very little go. The food was not great. Service was inattentive and the managers stood on a wall next to our table. And, never stopped by when our 2nd course took an hour from the first or when one of the items had to be remade because it was the wrong dish.
Be the first to ReplyI hosted a party of seven at Contessa a week ago.
We requested to be outside on the upstairs Terrace and were given round table. The food, the service, and the ambience were all wonderful. We loved the squash carpaccio, the ricotta, toast, and my chicken was amazing. My guests were all so pleased to be at such a beautiful location and to be able to hear each other speak. It is rare to find a restaurant where you can actually hear each other. We were also really impressed with the sommelier, Brad Kinder, who was so helpful, knowledgeable and personable. I will absolutely return there with my out-of-town guests, knowing that we will have a wonderful experience and will enjoy themselves.

Beautiful Room, Gorgeous decor and upbeat Italian style cafe atmosphere. The service was impeccable. The staff worked together seamlessly; were efficient and professional. The menu is streamlined ensuring every dish is fantastic n well executed. The sommelier chose the perfect bottles of Italian wines to go with the meal. The bar was happening, busy, fun- filled with the sounds of shaking martinis adding even more ambiance to the room. We started with amuse of tuna and oysters - unique prep of each - Then course of whipped ricotta with Italian salumi n squash carpaccio sweet - delicious sweet-salty combo of the 3! Could have stopped there but didn't thankfully- Lobster pasta n Pumpkin ravioli are fantastic - Still craving them again now. The Lamb chops are delicious, grilled to perfection served with slices of grilled eggplant adding contrasting texture and flavour. Even after all that, Still had dessert, a pistachio gelato completed the evening with a cool palette cleanser. Can't wait to go back. Ask for the sommelier or manager if it's your first visit. Sit outside, inside, or at the bar, wear your best or casual clothes, have a great bottle of wine or cocktails with a feast or just some apps ( didn't even mention the salads), it's the place to go, sit back, relax and enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyMy honest experience.
I spent several occasions reading reviews and getting pursued by the negative to not come here. We had originally booked our dinner for Casadonna, but I got cold feet and switched the plans to Contessa. Best choice I've made in 2024 so far. The service was impeccable. I don't even know where to start with the food. Pumpkin is nothing special to me, but I was curious to try the pumpkin ravioli. I'm sorry, what? Who gave them the permission to serve such a great dish? Whether you like pumpkin or not, this is worth branching out and trying. The octopus could've been bigger, because we LOVED the sauce glazed on top. One of the best octopus dishes in Miami we have tried. We used the sauce from the octopus to dip our bread in as well. I felt that the honey and ricotta was something so simple, but clever. Great flavor and something I can see myself making for future dinner parties. Also, I'm not sure if people know how hard it is to find a good lemon sorbet in Miami. They have perfected it. I would come here for a drink and the sorbet. Not that anyone cares, but I took a couple of minutes to stare off into space just going back to the thought of that sorbet melting in my mouth. OKAY ANYWAYS..... I'm an honest reviewer and I wouldn't just give this place 5 stars unless they earned it. Not to compare this establishment to Carbone, but at Carbone the servers assistant is doing 90% of the work of attending to you and you rarely interact with your server. Nothing wrong with that. At Contessa, our waitress was constantly coming by to check on us. The servers assistant was constantly nearby to aid assistance. It's so weird to see the comments about bad service, because this was some of the best service we've received. You can forget food, but you will never forget service. Granted, we dined a little on the earlier side - 8:00PM. The restaurant was pretty empty when we rolled up, but completely full as we were leaving. This might be something to keep in mind.
Be the first to ReplyWe came in for our anniversary and they sat us upstairs
We came in for our anniversary and they sat us upstairs which was nice. We had two servers but as the night went on, they both came by less. The food was incredible but I would give the service 2 stars. I gave an extra star because the vibe was so great. They seemed entitled to a high tip because it's miami (and we gave it to them) but it seemed to make them lazy. I would pass on this place again if you're looking for a very special spot. Not worth it.

We ordered the meatballs, crudo, bolognese, and spicy lobster capellini, and everything was delicious. Highly recommend the last, it was a must order. Beautiful decor and nice ambiance but definitely a bit of an overpriced, sceney spot

My husband and I have been to so many MFG restaurants, but this one is special. As Nyc locals, we were very excited to try out this new addition while vacationing in Miami. It did not disappoint! Staff is lovely and welcoming. We were very happy and surprised to see one of our favorite people, Amanda of Raines law room, is managing here now. It is clear she is bringing the attention to detail here. Food is spectacular- (try the squash carpaccio! It was her recommendation and was AMAZING) it did get very loud and crowded with the Miami crowd but regardless we enjoyed a spectacular intimate dinner. Thank you Amanda and the team here! We look forward to visiting on our Miami trips again!! The space is beautiful and gives me a reason to wear a gown and feel magical for an evening.
Be the first to ReplyMy appetizer and entree were absolutely delicious.
Also, our waiter was very nice and respectful to us and definitely fast when it came to our dinners being ready.

My son and I were in the Design District shopping , we stopped into CONTESsA with no reservations, the friendly hostels suggested to view the bar seating on the 2nd floor. The whole evening was spectacular. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The seating is spacious and comfortable. Every dish was divine. We took all the server's suggestions on her favorites. The olive oil gelato is a true WOW!Being a native of Miami, I enjoyed seeing the glamorous rebirth of theMiami Design District .
Be the first to ReplyI was at a business lunch and we decided to come here.
I felt like their menu wasn't that extensive and the main dishes to not come with any sides. Anyway, we decided to start with the butternut squash carpaccio. This was actually surprisingly amazing! Everyone was fighting over the last piece. The service was good and the waitress always checked in on us. Next we ordered our main dishes and we got the Branzino, salmon, and then we ordered the potatoes and mushrooms as sides to share the ambience in this place is gorgeous, so definitely take a photo when you're here the food it was cooked perfectly and I loved the potatoes the most.

.. the vibe... the food... the staff... Wow wow wow... 2nd time in a week eating here... everything was spot on and delicious. Contessa is a family member of Carbones and is equally as good. Mauro was fantastic... great recommendations on food and wine... very attentive and professional. He made the excellent experience of Contessa even better. Ask for him!!!
Be the first to ReplyDecided to give this restaurant a try and it did not
Decided to give this restaurant a try and it did not disappoint. Saw some mixed reviews but I had a great experience. Although a sister restaurant to Carbone it is surprisingly different. Beautiful restaurant, Cute ambiance, no hassle to get a reservation and was seated right away. The meatballs are an absolute MUST, cooked to perfection. I also had the whipped ricotta and it was great, I do wish the bread was a little less toasted. The lobster capellini and ricotta gnudi were delish. Everything had so much flavor. The desert was just okay (I had the chocolate cake) I've had better. Overall I would give this place a 9/10

Dropped into Contessa last Wednesday with my wife for lunch after reading glowing review on line. Gorgeous ambience and great buzz. Good service but food did not live up to billing. Pizza was very good but artichoke salad bitter and sour. Requested Rose was not drinkable and sent back and switched to prosecco. Cappuccino was pathetic and not drinkable and not made correctly even after sent back first one. Disappointing culinary experience for such a high end establishment.
