A phenomenal happy hour in central DC, Dauphines is not one to miss. I started with the seasonal spritz, which was refreshing and delicious. The happy hour goes until 7, and is served at the indoor and outdoor bar. If the weather is nice, I would definitely recommend checking out the beautiful patio and outdoor bar space! For food, I tried the grilled oysters (Oyster Dauphine), mini muffuletta, and the crab & artichoke dip. The Oyster Dauphine was spectacular: a must order in my opinion. The spinach, parmesan, and black pepper married perfectly with the fresh grilled oyster to create an insanely delicious bite. The crab dip was also excellent. Creamy and not fishy at all, it was complemented by savory crackers perfectly seasoned with cajun seasoning. Lastly, the muffuletta was good, but I wouldn't necessarily order it again. The highlight of that dish was definitely the tangy and salty olive salad. I also really enjoyed the Rosé on happy hour (the La Closerie Des Lys). It was floral, fruity, and perfectly light. Bring your friends or coworkers, and come enjoy the beautiful patio and happy hour at Dauphines!
Be the first to ReplyVery nice little surprise while in DC.
Recommended by the Uber. Nice ambiance and the plus was a little jazz music to set the mood. Food was not too bad either
Be the first to ReplyThis is a poor excuse for creole cuisine.
Their gumbo is NOT gumbo (I am not talking about the potato salad, just the actual "gumbo" portion). We've ordered other dishes and it was all the same. It tasted like someone cooked it and then poured water over the flavors. There was no soul in the food. Additionally, the waitress never came over after the food came out until the very end. Not to mention the 4% surcharge for the restaurant to continue... I mean it is 2024, four years past the pandemic and we are all experiencing inflation. If you're going to charge an additional 4% that does not go towards tipping, AT LEAST make the food taste good! Overall disappointing in food and service.

I recently planned a wedding reception at Dauphine's and it was incredible. The food, atmosphere and service was impeccable. The bride and groom were well taken care of, Courtney and Natalie were so easy to work with, communicative and really worked to listen to the couple's needs. It was such a fun, unique and beautiful space for a reception and provided numerous spaces to meet guest needs. The food was delicious and the staff were always on top of everything. I cannot recommend Dauphine's enough and cannot wait to go back for a delicious meal or an event!

After a decent meal, the evening was ruined by a 4% surcharge on the bill. The server couldn't answer what the 4% was for, nor could a floor manager. The manager tried to explain that it wasn't part of the tip, wasn't for kitchen staff, it was for the bottom line. So I said, "So this is for profit?" No, he answered, it is for the bottom line (also known as profit)! I believe this should be considered fraud. The website menu shows prices, but this is not what you will pay. Why can't restaurants just be open and honest about prices? DC Council should address all these add on fees and mandate real pricing. As for Dauphines, we won't be back again.

Note: as other reviewers have noted, serving sizes are small and prices high comparatively for dc restaurants, especially bib gourmands which are usually on the cheaper side of eats. This place is a whole vibe and the food is amazing. The waiters were incredibly attentive and funny conversationalists. Their ambiance is well planned out and feels very creole. We had the duck confit with ricotta cavatelli, the pommes soufflé, and the Zucchini Squash tempura. The dishes had surprising flavor pairings that were divine. The Zucchini Squash tempura was really the stand out dish with crisp, not soggy, tempura breading and fresh blueberry and dill garnishes. We've determined we will have to come back to try the whole menu! Easily in my top three eats in DC.

This has been on our list of restaurants in DC we must eat at and it did not disappoint!! we made reservations in advance but when we arrived it was still happy hour and there was some item I think on happy hour we couldnt get sitting in the dining area. we got lucky and the host was able to get a high rise table at the bar sitting area! not only were the special HH drinks yummy the food was amazing! we love creole food and I was glad it wasn't too heavy. I would love to go back and experience it all over again. the atmosphere was just right and not so loud and very cute inside. we tried all the dishes our waiter commented about it!

the food was cooked perfectly. had so mjch flavor and paired well with their mock-tails so once I'm not a big alcohol person. their staff was so friendly and was on top of the service. if you're ever in the DC area stop in! you won't regret it. oh and get the bread service

Indoor and outdoor options. Good small plates for sharing. Enjoyed the creole food and variety of options. Big bar with a lot of seating. Happy hour menu. Would definitely return based on the overall experience but will share my frustration that this restaurant is still charging a pandemic recovery fee of 4% (4 years later!) that is tacked onto your bill without any notice or transparency. If you ask about the fee, you will be told it is to offset higher costs and help with pandemic recovery and that this is more cost effective option for consumers to pay a fee than to pay increased menu prices. I find that explanation almost offensive to say that the business is passing along its excess costs by sneaking a hidden fee on the end instead of transparently raising prices and allowing customers to decide if they are willing to pay the listed prices - and that it's all for the customers benefit! Poor management.

The ambiance here is spectacular- you feel like you're in a high-end restaurant in New Orleans. I got the bluefish creole which was delicious. The service was great as well. I highly recommend!

Come for the drinks and ambiance and stay for the customer service. Dauphine's has become my neighborhood watering hole by virtue of the wonderfully hospitable team. All the details--from the gorgeous menus (quirky bathroom decor!) and fun cocktails to the engaging bartenders--make it an excellent experience overall. I think the brunch menu is more my speed than dinner (too rich for my taste), but I love that this place offers that something "extra" that sets it apart. A gem in DC.

Excellent environment, great service, and reliable delicious food. Place is a standard Sunday brunch staple for us. The eggs Neptune and fried chicken sandwich are a high recommend.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and drinks and service.
Not cheap but it shouldn't be. For a great night out give it a shot.

It's always nice to find a great happy hour in states where they're allowed(not allowed in NC)! Dauphines has one of those amazing happy hours with great food & drink options.I started out with a New Orleans Buck, suck a delicious & well balanced cocktail. For food I had 12 of their happy our raw oysters which are pre-dressed with their house made mignonette which is absolutely amazing! I'm always hesitant about pre-dressed oysters but you could tell the were freshly shucked & dressed to order. Will always visit Dauphines for happy hour while in DC!

I've been here twice now and tried a few things off their menu and I have to say I was not impressed. It's a cute spot to meet for hh/drinks, but would recommend going to some of the other restaurants nearby for dinner. The small snacks I would recommend are the two pommes/potato sides and then the steak was okay too (though presentation was lacking giving how sophisticated the restaurant presents itself). Staff, service, and the som were all great.

(3.5 stars) Brunch here was really enjoyable, especially given the live jazz music, which alone is worth the visit. The food itself I wasn't crazy about, went with the chicken sandwich and though the chicken was great, the sandwich didn't come together for me and getting a bag of chips rather than something housemade was disappointing.L

My husband and I ordered the shrimp and grits, brunch basket, and traditional breakfast. The ambiance. We've enjoyed dinner and now brunch at Dauphine's. Both times were a hit. We love that they do sliced meats and oysters. One of my pictures shows that these two areas are visible from the dining room and the upstairs seating area. The restaurant does live jazz on Sunday's! Great spot for family, friends, dates etc. The service. We enjoyed our time and had a few wait staff attend to us. Recommend reservations!

Avoid at all costs. Today ( Shrove Tuesday), I asked the mixologist about Hurricane rums. The only rum they had was a rail light rum from Puerto Rico. They had no pot still rums from Jamacia, Guyana, or Barbados typically used at the Cure or Cane and Table to make a Hurricane. This place would never survive in NYC. or Nola.

3.5 stars. Dauphines has been on my must visit restaurant list since it opened. Finally, we made it! Wonderful service from the time we walked thru the door, until we left. Everyone was very friendly and we never had to look for our server or wonder where our food was. I think our server was Jessie. Very nice and great recommendations. That bread board...get it! That butter and jam combo sets it all the way off. I really wanted a second one.For the appetizer we had the Oysters Dauphine. These were pretty good. I actually wanted more. For dinner we had the Blackened Bluefish Creole and the Dirty Rice and Duck Stuffed Quail. Both were very good but not as flavorful as we anticipated. Also, dinner portions are not very large so if you have an appetite you may want to order an extra appetizer. I can't remember what I had to drink but it was delicious. Light, refreshing, sparkling and maybe a grapefruit flavor. For dessert, we had the baked Alaska and the Beignets with the Milk Punch. Both yummy!Overall we had a great experience. Will definitely go back.
