Fabulous place.
In an entrance to an alley across the street from Christie's Auction House. Great ambience. Opened in 1870 The phoTo of Churchill indicates we was a patron. I had the Thursday special- ox cheeks- they were delicious. Reasonable Prices. Wine selection good and reasonable.I made it a 5* because it was a perfect stop. A comfy under street level wuiet place to eat good foood and drink. Especially tasty brown bread.

Initially thought it was just a wine bar but had a restaurant as well. Food was very, very good- especially the pate. As essentially a wine bar, it had quite a good wine list. Try the house red. Prices very reasonable for central London. Suggest making a reservation as the dining area was filled by 7 pm.Lots of old English atmosphere plus this location seems to be a watering hole for people in the area

I came to Davy's for a private party, of which we had hired out the bottom floor on an evening which, so I'm led to believe, Davy's would actually be closed. A Saturday! Which, for a Northerner, is unheard of but I'm told that this part of London pretty much dies at the weekend. I liked the small and intimate nature of Davy's. The wine list goes on forever and the fizz was also great. I drank A LOT on this evening and we were very well looked after. I'm not in London much, but I wouldn't hesitate in coming back here.

I ordered the tomato and basil salad & it was something I could have made at home but within sweeter tomatoes. It consisted of fresh basil, one sliced tomato and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Also tasted the quail eggs that were hard boiled with celery salt which were good. Unfortunately my lunch came 15 minutes after everyone else's as they forgot about it so made it odd for my lunch party as they waited to eat their meals until I received mine. When I finally did get my sandwich it was actually very good, it was the goat cheese & veggie sandwich which I would recommend. It's unfortunate about my lunch. Moving late & they didn't even offer anything to compensate for that. The location apparently will be closing soon as building something else there so pleased I was able to experience it before it's closed down.

Before we got there, one of my clients told us he had been on jury duty for a case where a guy had been to this pub for a work party about 18 months ago, had headed back to the work flat somewhere on piccadilly, and something unsavoury had happened. The guy had been found guilty of whatever it was he did so had gone down. Tonight, the company he had worked for were having another party in this place - it seemed to be a pretty crazy party (but not as crazy as last time). The place is underground so you can see how it might end up as a place where people get wasted. The staff are very friendly and were doing table service for us. Not a very good choice of beers.
