Disappointing experience
Given the price of the food, I feel you are paying for the "experience". Last night was the first time visiting Meatlocker, the food itself was beautiful. I couldn't fault the standard of food at all. However the service was shocking.. sitting with empty plates / glasses for 25 minutes, unable to catch a staff member to even pay the bill. We spoke to the staff about this, they took the 10% service charge off (which I wouldn't have paid anyway!). Unfortunately I won't be back again. It was a really disappointing experience.

Booked this as a treat for wedding anniversary treat , mentioned this on the booking form when making the booking , this got us a special table in the corner , no mention of it from anyone , so seems the request box on the booking page counts for nought ,
Skipped starters and had pre dinner drink , meal was ok but it was expensive for steak and chips , although we did also have 1/2 a tomato and some rocket on the plates also , asked for english mustard and got dijon , but it was decent in any case .
Pleasant enough place but would not be rushing back ,
10 % service charge added to bill , we prefer to tip to individuals rather than have tips included in the overall bill , we presume/hope that the service charges make their way to the staff .
Definitely worth a visit
Four of us had lunch here today. Absolutely gorgeous food, staff very friendly. Great value .. 5 stars
Be the first to ReplyGreat but dim lighting - 9.9/10 fillet steak
A nice location (if it is a tad dark inside) but very pleasant, relaxed and well attended. The food (Fillet steak) was one of the best I had in a long time and cooked to prefection. Notwithstanding, I did not need to put salt on anything - it was all well enough seasoned so please taste before adding anything. Although in the ££ bracket - it is worth the extra cost. Well worth a visit if you're in Belfast

Had a meal here this evening as part of my Christmas present…:such a lovely place for a couple to enjoy a meal together
The staff were a well oiled cog facilitating everyone but showed the “Swan” action never showing any signs of panic….they were class
We had well done steaks and they were great and thoroughly enjoyed
Thanks to Michael for all your work towards good Covid protection thought out
Son’s birthday dinner
We arrived 1/2 hour early having been evacuated from the europa due a fire, no problem we where shown to our table after covid passport checks with a happy birthday to our son greeting, really pleased , this was a surprise for his birthday, all of the food and service was spot on his steak was perfect as was mine , everyone’s food was great, nice surprise when desert arrived with a birthday sparkler it was also good to see Micheal Dean in the restaurant this shows a true passion for his business.
Thanks to the entire team at Dean’s
Amazing food. Great service.
This is a lovely fine dining restaurant specialising in steaks which are amazing. Cooked to absolute perfection. There are plenty of lovely options for the non carnivore. Wines are excellent and the service is highly professional, friendly and welcoming. Very handy central location close to shopping centre, City Hall, Opera House, bus and railway station.
Be the first to ReplyUnderwhelmed, overrated and sorry but it’s just not for me.
3 of us met for a catch up and lunch here. Firstly can I commend the waiting staff, they were absolutely superb.
We decided to go for the full lunch. Starter of Garlic prawns at £10:50 was tasty but nothing exceptional. Mains, we all went for the steak at £37 each. Big mistake, it promised so much but it was full of fat, and over salted to the point of being unpleasant to eat. I know rib eye steak has fat to give it flavour, I get that, but 25% of what was on my plate was fat. The mushroom served along with it had some sort of crumb on it, I’m unsure why it was actually on the plate as it contributed absolutely nothing to the meal. I love steak, and I do know a good steak, but this was overpriced and overrated. Give a poor cut a fancy name and just charge whatever price you fancy. NO!
Desert, we had Christmas pudding and to be honest it was absolutely delicious, could not have been better.
I’m happy to pay good money for great food but this was just ridiculous in my opinion. £111:00 for 3 average steaks is not on, sorry.
I’ve eaten in the various Deanes establishments over the years and I’m still underwhelmed with them.
This is my personal experience and I know other will people love it, make your own mind up, but there’s so much better top notch food to be had for your money in Belfast.
Birthday dinner
Came here for my birthday dinner with my husband and and 14 month old son. Our waiter was Adam who we found very attentive and friendly. My husband asked him to do a little something for my birthday which he was happy to do, so I had a lovely little cake come out with a sparkler which was cute. My son had a small meltdown during dinner and was so kind and offered to put our dinner under the heater until my husband returned. Food was amazing, steak was top notch! Highly recommend!

Our annual return to the Meat locker for Christmas Dinner. Firstly I have to say service and staff were exceptional, both professional and efficient.
Soup starter was good, creamy and good flavour although the accompanying bread was served with hard crust and no butter.
Mains was disappointing. Turkey smothered in gravy so that you could not see what was meat and what was fat. Gravy should have been served on the side. Stuffing was excessive compared to the portion of turkey. My wife had sufficient sides for her appetite but I certainly could have used more potato.
Christmas pudding was very good.
Happy Christmas!
