service: good!interior: traditional, with wooden furnitures and cream couches. large tables and seatings available, great for family dinners or gatherings! health and safety: staffs wear maskswould you crave for it?DUCK YEAH. personally not a huge fan of duck, however my friend kept hyping about how amazing this restaurant is and how they're known for their duck so I HAD to try it. i loved their side dishes, especially their pickled zucchini, i even requested for more! we ordered their signature roasted and sliced duck and they were mouth-watering. the duck meat had beautiful marbling and were juicy and aromatic! we also had their grilled thin slices of large intestines, not my personal favorite, but they were super chewy and tender! last but not least, their fried rice was what blew me away. the fatty oil from the barbecued duck was collected and later used for the fried rice, making it extremely aromatic. although the restaurant's interior isn't as fancy or well-decorated, the food speaks for itself. try it.

Duck would not be the first choice of protein if I were to think of Korean food. I randomly saw someone post this place on Insta, one of my favorite proteins in Korean food? That's new, I must try it.Their menu isn't that extensive, there was a roasted duck we were pondering over. Some other items like sliced duck, chopped duck. I don't know how many other ways they'll serve Donald on the grill. The entrees do look a bit expensive without knowing how big the portions are. I rounded 3 others and we ordered the smoked duck. So it's about 25-30 pp for just that.Food came out pretty quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering? I guess smoked duck is really their #1 item. A giant plate of sliced up smoked duck, with a side of radish, green salad, banchan. My favorite banchan dish was the eggplant. Don't let the plate size deceive you, it seemed like there was not enough duck for everyone. We were chowing through as soon as it's grilled, so the amount of protein was dwindling down at a double declining rate. However, we had trouble finishing the last pieces here and there near the end. Not sure if we were eating all day so wasn't as hungry as usual. We just forced ourselves to finish up the meat just so they can bring out part two of the meal. We sort of knew that there would be kalguksoo after the meal based on the pictures we've seen. It has kimchi, tidbits of the duck (like neck and all), and most importantly, the nooooooods. What could not be seen in the pictures was the level of spiciness, while the noodle soup warmed my stomach, it didn't sit too well with two of my friends who can't take spicy. So beware. There's a small lot on site that is free valet. Restaurant isn't that big, so there should be enough parking spots at that lot.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is delicious.
The staff doesn't speak much English but they are so friendly and helpful. Valet parking only. $3 per car. Awesome. Roasted duck was my favorite and also known for bbq smoked duck. Everything was delicious. But I'll just say it was pricey for the amount of food. About $100 and then add tax and tip for each duck. Two ducks and two other dishes were plenty to feed 6 people though. Add in our drinks, came out to about $75 per person.

This was my first time trying smoked duck in the States as it's just not a common dish to find here -- but thankfully in LA Ktown, this wasn't that hard to find! Someone recommended this place to me so this was our last meal in Los Angeles this trip.We ordered the smoked duck, which was $105. Quite pricy.. but roasted duck is not a common dish so I was completely okay with it.Our food came out pretty quickly -- the nice thing about smoked duck is that it comes out already smoked so cooking the thing does not take long at all. You want to grill it for a few minutes as it adds more flavor and chewy texture! The smoked duck was absolutely fantastic -- perfectly juicy and flavorful and the dipping sauces they serve with it serve as a perfect combination. They also have a wide array of banchans (pickled onions, pickled chives, pickled radish, salad & more) and they are definitely worth the ssam. The kalgooksu we were served afterwards was absolutely fantastic. Tasted really natural with no MSG added and cooked with duck bones and the spicy flavor really got to you! It's a nice little end to your healthy yet delicious meal.So why is this place a 4 and not a 5? While the food and service was fantastic, the pot that was used to serve the kalgooksu had a lot of scratches, and that is a HUGE hazard to BPA exposure. I was a bit disappointed for a place that serves healthy food to have unhealthy cookingware! Hopefully they can get that replaced soon...Other than that - everything was great and I'm very happy that we were able to check this place out for our last meal!
Be the first to ReplyIF YOU LOVE DUCK, look no further.
I've never had kbbq catered around duck but holy moly was it good. The menu is pretty much all duck plus sides and if you're gonna get one thing then get the smoked duck. It's pricy but wow the portion and taste.Came here with a group of 4 and got the sliced duck, smoked duck and kimchi fried rice and we were stuffed. The lady was not kidding when she said it was more than enough food. The duck is so rich that you will likely be full from the taste alone. The sliced duck was delicious and so rich in flavor from the fat. It pairs so nicely with the onions and mustard they give you. The star of the show was definitely the smoked duck. The duck itself was tender, rich, and smoky. Once you're done enjoying the meat, they bring out the noodle stew with their remaining smoked duck and it was equally delicious.I would 1000% come back because it's so unique and a nice change from regular kbbq! The service here was also great, and definitely bonus points if you can speak Korean because it seems a lot more traditional. There's valet parking in the back, otherwise you'll have to find street parking.

Great little spot to try something different than the regular kbbq. This place is known for their smoked duck so that's a must-have on our first visit. It's pretty expensive ($90) but the portion is good for 3 people. It also comes with a duck noodle soup. We also tried the sliced duck bbq which I like a lot more since it's more crispy; a small portion is $39 which is a bit too expensive for the portion size. Both dishes were delicious and not gamey at all. The banchan is limited but they taste good.We paid about $180 for 2 people with a good amount of leftover. The staff is helpful and very nice. They have their own parking lot but it is small so don't come during crowded dinner time if you don't want to deal with the parking situation.

Absolutely overpriced duck with terrible service and the owner is disgusting. Do not order the clay pot roasted duck - it tastes like clay. A weirdly flavored skinny duck filled with rice and other veggies and it's over $100. And the smocked duck taste exactly same as the frozen packaged duck that you can buy at any Korean market, yet it also priced for $100 and the portion is maybe enough for 2 people. Terrible service with mean servers and just weird vibe of the whole restaurant coming from the owner's cheap taste. I wouldn't even give one star but just did only to write this review. Absolute disaster. Go to Sun ha jang!
Be the first to ReplyDuck BBQ, inclusive fried rice and soup!.
Unique tastes and flavors. The owner/boss is so nice and welcoming.

I was excited about this place because it would be my mom's first time trying a smoked duck dish. She has a very particular palate and does not enjoy food that tastes gamey. However, I assured her that it tasted nothing like a duck but more like bacon. With conviction, I baited her to the restaurant. This Michelin Guide BIB GOURMAND restaurant is a hidden gem in Koreatown. This restaurant has no windows and no entrance at street level; thus impossible to tell the busyness of the restaurant. While Koreatown is saturated with Korean BBQ restaurants selling beef, pork, and chicken, this hole-in-the-wall specializes in duck, underrated poultry with many benefits to your health. What we ordered: SMOKED DUCK (Smoked duck meat with Sweet Potatoes and Duck Casserole) - Come here for a family-style meal. The entree cost was around $95, and the serving was for two. However, based on the portion, I think a group of three is an ideal number. I love eating smoked duck breast with lettuce, marinated chives, and vinegared onions. The dish also comes with two dipping sauces (mustard and sweet soy sauce with ground garlic), which I rotated upon each bite. After finishing the meat, they bring in a large pot with noodles. This casserole was a great item to finish our meal. I was feeling very FULL AND SATISFIED at the end.
Be the first to Replythis spot is very lowkey , the food is good .
If you love duck come here . They have vallet parking for a low price I think it was $3 , food is some what pricey but over all worth it . The servers were so nice !

Food portion wasn't too big but the duck bbq was definitely very special. The kimchi stew was too salty , it's a good place to eat after all
Be the first to ReplySuch memorable meal.
.. Between three people, we ordered the Smoked Duck, the Ribeye and cold noodle with radish. Side dishes were limited but it paired well with the main items. Cucumbers, onion slices, radish greens, and eggplant. And a salad. The eggplant was my favorite. The dipping sauce was interesting, mustard and red sauce with a teaspoon of garlic. Ribeye: good marbling Noodle with radish: refreshing soup, noodle a bit too soft for mom's liking, generous amount of radish greens Smoked Duck with 3 slices of yam: smoked duck thinly sliced, the fat getting crispy at the tabletop pan, it smells extra delicious, dipped in the garlic sauce - omg perfection - We didn't know this till the end, but the duck dish comes with duck neck noodle soup at the end. Even if you are already stuffed, make room and have some duck soup. It was such a perfect ending to this meal. Soup had a spicy kick, fresh noodles, radish greens, chives, and duck neck. Bottomline: I highly recommend it.

I know that the main dish at Dha Rae Ok is the Duck BBQ, but I was recommended to try the Intestine Soup by a friend. It did NOT disappoint. The amount of meat and intestines inside the soup was more than enough for two people and it was so full of flavor and depth. There is a phrase in Korean called or "Rice Thief", and this meal was just that. If I could, I would have had 3+ bowls of rice with the soup itself. One thing that needs improvement I would say is the side dishes or banchan. I didn't find myself enjoying the side dishes, as I usually do in other restaurants, but this was not too big of an issue since the main dish I ordered was amazing. I hope to come back to try the duck dishes, since I am a duck lover. The table next to us were enjoying some fried rice with the leftover duck they had ordered, and it smelled delicious. Can't wait to try it!

Saw a foodie video of the clay pot roasted duck and it looked interesting so we finally had an opportunity to try it. Need to order a day in advance or min. 4 hours for this dish. The place has Valet parking and it's worth it. Once you have the Duck ordered, now to the other KBBQ dishes. We weren't sure how big/small the Duck for 4 of us and the server said it might not be enough, so we wanted some meat to grill. I. Order to order stuff to grill, you must order a minimum of TWO dishes. Some menu will come with their specialty fried rice and some don't even come with it although the min. Is 2 dishes and some comes with soup. So confusing if you don't speak Korean. We ordered the duck sausages and pork belly to grill. A bit pricey but the quality of the meat was good. The side dishes were mediocre. Instead of the traditional Napa cabbage kimchi, they served some kind of green leaf style, we all didn't care for it. Now to the main entree, the duck is stuffed with all kinds of herbs, ginseng, goji berries, sunflower and pumpkin seeds with red sweet rice. The duck meat is a bit bland. Must dip it with the red sauce and ginger paste. Not sure if I would go back and try the smoked duck yet!

The duck tasted good, serve is a awesome, very friendly and food come out fast. Overall is 7/10. Because it's a little bit too pricey. And in compare with other Korean restaurants, the cold dises were too simple only onion broccoli and Choi.
Be the first to ReplyReferred by a friend and was highly intrigued by duck kbbq.
It was my first time having it, so I didn't know what to expect. Food: My boyfriend and I got the Smoked Duck which feeds 2-3 people and comes with kalguksu at the end of the meal. It was $85 (excluding tip). The duck was so good! Not too salty and not too gamey. If you had Chinese roasted duck or peking duck, the meat flavor and texture is about the same. It comes with 2 different dipping sauce, which one is dijon mustard, and the other is this garlicky red sauce. So gooddddd! The banchan was different than the typical banchan you would get at a kbbq restaurant. It pairs so well together, and is especially delicious with the radish paper. The Kalguksu was a delicious finishing touch since it was in some savory spicy broth and freshly cut noodles. They also serve other meat like intestines and steaks.Service: Super friendly, but they spoke in Korean majority of the time (my bf did the talking). Our server helped us explain what the dish comes with and recommended to get the smoked duck. She even helped us cook a little and told us when it was ready to eat.Parking: There's valet in the back side of the building and you enter on 11th street (between Western and Oxford). Cash only.Final Note: We're definitely coming back to try their other dishes.IG: @epfoodventures
Be the first to ReplyDecided to bring my son here for Sunday lunch.
What a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I guess they don't really do BBQ for lunch. We order the ribeye and black pig. Very little side dishes. No dukk saam!!! $90 for two small plates if protein.
Be the first to ReplyI was recommended this place by a friend for korean bbq
I was recommended this place by a friend for korean bbq duck. I had to sift through a lot of these reviews to figure out what exactly to expect here, so hopefully this review will be a one stop shop for you (as of Nov 2021).1. Valet parking in the back or street parking in the front. Enter through the back.2. YES there is an outdoor patio. When we got there there was nobody sitting outside, but they have portable grills and yes they can accommodate.3. Most of the waitstaff do NOT speak English. We do not speak Korean but we got by. We asked them for water three times. The first time they gave us more tea. The second time they gave us iced tea. The third time they gave us water.4. You can order smoked duck or roast duck. The smoked duck is the bbq smoked duck slices and is a flat rate of $79. The roast duck is the duck in the pictures with all of that filling, and is more expensive. We got the smoked duck.5. The smoked duck can feed three people easily, or two hungry people. It's juicy and delicious.6. The smoked duck comes with (1) a platter of duck, (2) spicy banchan, (3) spicy salad (4) spicy sauces for the duck and (5) spicy noodle soup. The duck, banchan, sauces and salad come all at once. The noodles come at the end and are cooked with duck bones and veggies.7. My friend mentioned something about frying rice in the duck fat. I don't know if they did this before but they don't do that now. You can order kimchi fried rice that comes in a separate platter for $15. This is tasty too. Spicy. The duck is good. I would come back for the duck. Be wary that everything else is spicy.
Be the first to ReplyThere are moments where I think Korean duck bbq beats
There are moments where I think Korean duck bbq beats regular kbbq this place is one of my few fave duck places and I hope it never goes out of business. You have to do two orders of the duck when you eat ( still not sure why they don't just say one order and charge for the two portions), but it's worth it. The meat literally melts in your mouth like butter. They also do the fried rice at the end ( not sure if they do it anymore but they did it for me a while back). If you're looking to subdue your duck bbq craving, come eat here ASAP!
Be the first to ReplyTried their roasted duck, smoked duck and duck sliced.
The roasted duck is stuffed with many ingredients including rice and some nuts and sweet potatoes. But in this way the duck meat will be more dry. Thus My favorite is the smoked duck. The meat is thicker and tastes better. And the duck sauce, they serve the mustard sauce, I like it, it matches with the meat.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my first time having Korean style duck, the flavor
This is my first time having Korean style duck, the flavor is good and definitely something I haven't had before. Too bad the portion is so big and the 2 of us really can't order anything else. They won't do kimchi fried rice after this meat. However, they do offer a noodle soup that is also very unique in flavor. Will come back for duck bbq and some kimchi fried rice!

Unassuming spot in ktown - it's the only place I've been to for duck in Los Angeles, but it tastes as great as the duck restaurants I've been to in Korea.Food:The two of us ordered the roast duck. I thought the portions were plentiful, but taking off one star for subpar banchan & the lack of rice with the roast duck dish. The spicy noodles that come after the roast duck were great!Parking:There's a small valet lot in the back of the restaurant thats $3Misc:This was a very Korean spot, meaning the clientele and staff primarily spoke in Korean. This place might be a bit hard to navigate around if you don't have somebody in your group that can speak the language. All in all, I'd come back next time I crave duck!
Be the first to ReplyRight up front, I will say this is an incomplete review: I
Right up front, I will say this is an incomplete review: I didn't order the food nor did we pay. We went with a big group of Korean friends who all spoke Korean, so the ordering and service went very well. Great service, no missed orders or dishes, banchan was always full, food came out quickly.. Buut I have a strong suspicion the staff speaks very little English and the service might not be the same of you don't speak Korean. My husband and I were not successful when asking for utensils and water..which are pretty basic asks. They seemed offended we asked in English lol. Anyways, I'm rating this place purely on food quality alone. The duck is FANTASTIC. best damn duck I've ever had, served 5 different ways. The hand cut noodle soup, fried crunchy rice, roasted duck, buttery duck, duck with the skin.. it was all amazing to taste. Based on taste/quality alone, I may have to return despite the other negative reviews about staff and prices. I'll update you, maybe I'll get lucky Recap:Food: 10/10Service: 8/10 with Korean speakersPrice: unknownReturn? Yes
