DISTRICT Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
I saw that this spot had great food reviews and I've been
I saw that this spot had great food reviews and I've been here in the past for a drink or two, so I decided to stop by for the entree offerings. I had their Crispy fish tacos, angry chicken sandwich with truffle Parmesan fries, and a tres leches cake followed by a vanilla ice cream. The fish taco was phenomenal, mainly because of the sauce and the type of tortilla it had. My only critique was, I wish it were crispier, the fish tasted like it was fried before and then just reheated. Overall it was one of the best crispy fist tacos I've ever had, if I retry it again with a more crispier fish, I'd put it at the top. Now the angry chicken sandwich was also very delicious, I love that they used thigh meat because you can taste the flavor difference. The truffle fries that came with it was ok, and didn't really bring out the truffle permesan flavor too much and it wasn't too crispy either. The tres leches cake was also very phenomenal, but I don't consider this a traditional tres leches as compared to the ones I've had at La Monarca etc. It was more of a delicious dry cake but lacked the milky/wet/extra moist characteristics that I thought it would have. The ice cream was a nice touch to kind of fill that part. I'd definitely come back here again and it looks like an excellent place during the night. Parking is covered but I don't know if this spot validates, either way it's worth the trip.

Came here for team lunch and surprisingly had a good experience. I made a reservation for about 12-14 people and they didn't have any issue accommodating group our size. Lunch menu was priced pretty fairly and the ambiance of the restaurant was very quiet, industrial, and modern. I ordered the burger and it was pretty good. If you work in downtown LA and want to find a place to host team lunch or team gathering, I highly recommend this spot! The only downside would be the food took a while to come out but I think that's because they wanted the food to all come out at the same time.

Good customer service, nice ambience and great place just to hang out with friends and for happy hour.
My first time coming here.
Came on a Saturday around 1:30pm. It was super cute, chill, casual. Coffee shop vibes with food, chill music and a bar. I ordered: * Seasonal Hummus Plate. * Cali Burger (I added extra pepper jack cheese), for my side I got the side salad with blue cheese dressing and shaved Parmesan. * soda water with lemon * non alcoholic drink with my face on it for fun

Just want to give a quick shout out to the Bartender Alberto. Good guy. Makes a great Moscow mule. Charming and inviting. Made the vibe better. Place is cool too.

Went there for happy hour, 2 people, had 4 glasses of wine, split a chicken quesadilla. The bill came to $58 and we left a $12 tip. Their website says the bill should have been $37 plus tax/tip. Won't be back.
Cali burger was exactly what I was craving.
I was a table of 1, but service was slow. This is a good place for larger parties. It's a little loud, but not too crazy.

Customer service was great ! My waiter was attentive and took my order in a timely manner , the ambience is also nice and comfortable. Very nice decor and has a comfortable feel. Bar area was great the night before the bartenders were friendly and outgoing . Appetizers were also great I had the yucca fries twice and they were packed full of flavor as well as the sweet potato fries but unfortunately the main dish which was the Ribeye was very unpleasant. I tried to enjoy it. I really did, but it smelled funny and even felt mushy. I ordered it medium but it was more on the rare side. The manager was kind enough to ask if I would like another one as well as my waiter but I didn't wanna waste more food so I declined. I really wish that steak had more flavor and had a better sear and was a little bit thicker for the price, but you can't always get what you want. This was only my experience with this particular dish. You may have a better one, but if you enjoy steak maybe sit this one out . And have a burger instead.

District is an industrial styled gastropub propped up on steroids to be a full fledged and large restaurant and bar located on the ground floor at The Bloc Shopping Mall in Downtown LA and servicing the DTLA Sheraton Hotel. When I say everything's 'on steroids,' I'm referring to the size of it all. Everything here is big, from the ceiling height to the large bar with huge shelves full of liquor and wine to the size of the dishes you receive at your table to the lights over your tables, these steam-punked and refashioned monster stew kettle sized pots, inverted to serve as lamp covers-- all of it. Big. But as is the case in real life, BIGGER is not always BETTER... My date and I settle into a chosen booth for our Day-After-Valentine's-Day Dinner before a film at The Alamo Drafthouse, and we're excited, both from the menu, the Yelp reviews and pics, from what we order, which is the 14 oz ribeye steak with herbed butter and sides of creamy slaw and macaroni and cheese and what is known as the "District Cheeseburger" w fries. Like I said, we were excited as we waited with our perfectly fine Penicillin and Paloma cocktails... The food arrives and, well, take a look at the pictures. Pretty stuff, right? Again, don't rush to judge a book by its cover. I like the first bite of my steak: it's cooked properly and is juicy but as I eat through more of it, it shows itself to be tougher than I expected and there's often a chewy chunk of fat I need to spit out. At the end of the meal I have a small saucer full of chunks I had to forego and I'm disappointed some that it wasn't more flavorful. It'd be positively great at a Sizzler, but here for $45? It's disappointing. The cheeseburger looks solid and my date assures me it's good but not as good as The Biltmore Hotel Burger just a few blocks away with the onion jam. The tomato slice poking out looks a little stiff and not quite ripe enough to me. The fries were stiff and room temperature, clearly pre-cooked and just shoveled up for orders from under an all too weak heat lamp... And this brings me back to those big, nifty-when-you-first-see-them lights overhead: the quality of light helps the food look good for Yelp pictures but man, I have a headache from them halfway through the meal! The light gets in your eyes and it's inescapable. My date tells me she was annoyed by them too. They need to be higher or dimmer or a more amber in tone because they are caustic... come to think of it, so was the first glass of wine we had by a major boho Cali producer that had a note that reminded me of the smell of ladies foundation make-up. We sent it back for an only average California Cabernet that gets us through the meal. Everything is just so so... I liked the sides enough, but the creamy slaw needed some seasoning and the mac and cheese could use something a little more distinctive in it too. Our dessert, a molten lava flourless chocolate hockey puck is tasty, performs as you want it to after cutting into its middle and leaking out, what with the frozen berry coulis they provide you not enough of. I can't help but wonder why there isn't whipped cream or vanilla ice cream to go with it all... even just a small scoop would've made it complete. The waiters and maitre'd are so nice and accommodating that the service gets a high-five as they are working hard to market the meal to us all throughout it, but at $160 for two patrons? Well there's a Jolibee across the street that has great fried chicken for two with sides and drinks for like $30. Just saying... District is that restaurant you go to after work for drinks and appetizers, either with co-workers or when, like us on this particular evening, you happen to want a sit-down meal before going to The Alamo Drafthouse. It's nice for that. But at the prices they charge, I can't help but feel there are many other options just a trot away that are more affordable...

This place has possibly the best hummus I have had in a long time. The Yucca fries were a runner up as well as their macaroni and cheese. I can't believe that something so simple could be so delicious ( could be the dipping sauce too). I liked how it was low-key and not pretentious and our server was so friendly and knowledgeable. I just wish they had mocktails or non-alcoholic wines on their menu. I hope they don't get rid of that hummus though

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
