Best of the best
Astonishingly good. Ribeye was the best, by a distance, I’ve ever eaten. Dessert was decadently good. Wines include some of the very best Malbec’s that are to be had. Service also was great. Don Julio is expensive but it’s worth it.
Be the first to ReplyThey deserve their Michelin Star
Over the years I have avoided this too-known steakhouse. Mistake!! Since they now have a Michelin Star, I decided to finally go = and I am Very Happy I did. I got on the waitlist 2 months prior and finally got a reservation and was promptly seated. Beautiful, old building. Impressed with the quality of the steaks that I saw lined up waiting to be grilled. Service attentive. Large wine list of many options in different price points. And the steaks = cooked perfectly, tender and delicious. We enjoyed every minute and will surely return on our next visit to Buenos Aires.

Really overrated! Went in expecting the best steak in Argentina but I’ve had better in chain resteraunts in England! Dont know how they grew such a good reputation when the steaks are average. The branding, vibe and staff are nice. The fries are great but steak so disappointing. They provided gluten free bread which was nice
Be the first to ReplyNumber 13 for a reason
I guess they don't make you number 13 in the 50 best restaurants of the world just for the meat. Which is amazing, don't get me wrong, your choice of cut cooked to your desired perfection. But there is more that this, for example in the starters and the sides: the fries were among the best we have ever eaten, the mashed pumpik alone was worth the restaurant's title. An amazing experience
Be the first to ReplyGood food, very expensive, and very long wait
The food is really good, but the wait is absurd if you don't have a reservation. Honestly, comparing to other good Argentine restaurants I don't think it's worth the wait given the high price (again comparing to other very good Argentine restaurants). Bearing in mind that there are other restaurants just as good, I wouldn't go back without a reservation.
Be the first to ReplyIf you like steak…
Steak! Steak! Steak! Don Julio, in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, is ranked the number #1 restaurant in Latin America and number #14 in the world! And steak and great service and an awesome atmosphere are the reasons. When you arrive at Don Julio, you may have to wait a little while for a table, even with a reservation, but you are given a glass of champagne to help pass the time. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside on a beautiful late summer afternoon. Beef is about the only food on the menu and they serve 10 different cuts. You can also have appetizers of empanadas and charcuterie and organ meats. For 2 of us we ordered the charcuterie and then a rib eye and a strip steak plus an order of patas fritas. After ordering, a wait person returned and told us she thought we ordered too much food and that we should get one piece of meat and share it (the cuts are 500 grams, or over a pound each). She also said the rib eye was better than the strip steak on that day. So that’s what we did and it was excellent. Their version of charcuterie was 3 different sausages cut up for us at the table. Superb. We had a glass of rose to start and then a bottle of Argentinian Malbec. If you are into beef, this is the place to go!
Be the first to ReplyDon Julio Steak Restaurant
We first visited Don Julio five years ago. We were so impressed we planned a second visit this march. The restaurant and service were unrecognizable. the steak had to be returned for requested medium and still was brought back rare.... as if in such a rush the meat had not been allowed to rest. Waiters missed orders, and while we were not charged, we missed key components of the meal. finally the move to outside has totally diminished the experience with contending with mosquitoe bites all night and non working fans with the heat. Don Julio is a shadow of its former self. Not worth the visit and way over priced for what they deliver. perhaps a casualty of over expansion? but surely not worth a second visit sad to see the demise of a great restaurant
Be the first to ReplyThe best steak in Argentina
My husband and I were lucky enough to snag a table for lunch without a reservation while visiting Buenos Aires on our honeymoon! The steak, heirloom tomato salad, and French fries were simply outstanding! The Malbec was sensational, too. No visit to Buenos Aires is complete without a visit to Don Julio.
Be the first to ReplyGreat steak, bit of a tourist trap
The meat is excellent and service is good.
Definitely a place worth visiting, but not worth its star rating on some world best lists.
Meat is well cooked and good quality and there are good wine options available.
It seems to have become a bit of a tourist trap, rushing through people.
They wouldn’t except a bigger booking than 4 people through their website.
There’s just not much to say, just go
To attempt to describe this experience and convey anything comparable to what it happens when you’re there in person, is frankly, futile. Just go, please do yourself a favor, make the journey, and go to this magical place. I’ve worked in very high-level kitchens for 20 years and have seen quite a bit of every part of the food and beverage world. This experience is unparalleled, the hospitality so unbelievably natural, this is absolutely a bucket list restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing All Around
We visited Buenos Aires this past week from Chicago. Many people recommended Don Julio and we were lucky to have gotten a reservation on such short notice. Based on the recommendations and reviews, our expectations were very high.
The service was slow & terrible. We wanted a tomato salad and I heard "sorry ma'am but we are out of tomatoes. It isn't the season anymore." I mentioned we had just spent a week in Mendoza where the tomato harvests were in abundance and absolutely delicious. He said nothing and had very poor communications. My husband and I split a Tomahawk. It was good but nothing to write home about! We ordered grilled vegetables which never made it to our table. Such a disappointment. Save your money as there are much better steakhouses, including my own backyard BBQ.
Honorable Mentions: empanadas, chimichurri & almond Ice-cream.
