Do NOT use restaurant! All 4 of us had bad meals.
Steaks not cooked well. Worm in arugula, fish and chips.... yuck. No offer of another drink from bar...... then waitress never came back. Waited half hour to get check after trying to get another staff. I am a former food service employee (12 years) and not this poor of service in years. Please avoid restaurant! Hotel fine. Please leave to get a meal off site.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Glasgow Central is in a fantastic location, bang in the middle of Glasgow city centre on Cambridge Street, the city's shops and attractions are within walking distance. I stayed at the hotel for two nights in February 2024, my stay was mostly enjoyable. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was upgraded to a Two Queen Bed Deluxe Room. I originally booked a twin room, as it was cheaper than a room with one bed, while I did not need two beds, I appreciate how the hotel specifically upgraded me to a room with two beds as it shows they paid care and attention when making upgrades. My room was very spacious, modern and comfortable. The room was also really well-lit, which is often an issue with hotel rooms, it also had a nice number of plug sockets throughout the room more importantly at the desk and beside the beds. USB charging was also available. Facilities inside the room remained good but not outstanding, it had everything I needed but nothing more. There weren't robes, slippers or a coffee machine, but there was a kettle to make instant coffee and tea. The drinking cups were very small, and I had to borrow one from the Executive Lounge. The rooms don't have fridges but they do have some which you can request, it looks as if they don't get used often as my fridge was very dusty and felt like it had been in storage for some time. It was also a little noisy, so I wouldn't want to keep it turned on while sleeping, as I am a very light sleeper. I wasn't impressed with the bathroom though - while there was a standalone bath and shower which I love the idea of, I couldn't use the shower as the temperature dial was stuck to cold, and would come off in my hand whenever I tried to turn it. Like pretty much all Hiltons in the UK now, they've switched to wall-mounted soaps however there were no soaps for the bath. I was told they don't have any soaps anymore to provide, but they did end up bringing a shower gel. Again, a big improvement would be to provide little soaps or have some in the bath as well. This property also has an Executive Lounge which is very good. Alcoholic Drinks are served in the evening including a selection of beer, wine and spirits, while this is not self-service, like most other Lounges, the staff are always on hand to assist and are friendly. After letting them know I was gluten-free, they arranged for the chefs to make me my own canapes. My favourite was the butter chicken which was excellent, and a dessert made from chocolate, strawberries and cream. Other dishes prepared included avocado toast and a butternut squash dish. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and happy to help. I was also able to get a late check-out easily. The room was fairly quiet, there was a little bit of noise from the corridors and outside, but it was no worse than any other hotel. The air-conditioning was fairly noisy though, and would make some noise even when turned off, but not constantly. I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and while there are some improvements to be made, for the value I paid and the overall experience, I had a really enjoyable stay where I felt truly valued as a Diamond member. 4*
Be the first to ReplyHorrible breakfast a/c heater did not work.
Glasgow bike week and staff overwhelmed. Good location.
Be the first to ReplyNot in a good part of downtown.
Nothing around is open on weekends early enough for a breakfast alternative. Most reviews complained of the service, but I thought it was average. What I don't like is the below average room. The AC only works at 20%.Our second floor room is right over the rooftop HVAC units, including the noises. Also that means the view is shite. There is only instant coffee. No Nespresso or filter coffee. No fridge or microwave. No bottled water. The shampoo pump in the shower was empty. The shower/bath drain is clogged so you end up in calf high water and it takes 2 hours to drain. No bathroom fan so it gets steamy and stinky in there.Beds are comfyLighting is abundantPrice was very low for a weekend downtown (but now I understand why)

Lovely wee gym, pool, sauna, steam room, pool, jaccuzzi, friendly staff, lockers, 2 hr carpark.Shops 1minute away, sauchihall Street, buchanan Street, Bath Street, West nile Street, West George St, 10minute walk to buchanan bus station and George Square. Plenty here. Too much lol. Fantastic.

Bed was firm and comfortable. The size was a U.S. King size or a little bigger. Location was perfect, right at top of Buchanan St. and very near freeway entrance for airport. We REALLY appreciated the parking right under the hotel. There is parking under the hotel, which is extremely convenient, but it's outrageously expensive (22 lbs for 14 hours). The staff was very helpful. We were only here for 1 night and had 4 things we really wanted to do. Doubletree employee, Michael Mc Brearty quickly mapped the sites out for us and we were on our way. The chocolate chip cookies were amazing (so much better than the ones in the U.S.)

My husband and I had a fine stay at the DoubleTree the night before we had to head out of Glasgow Airport. We arrived a bit early and the employees all seemed a bit frazzled as there was a wedding taking place that weekend and the lobby was full of flowers, vendors, and angry brides! But they were all friendly enough and we were able to drop our luggage while waiting for our room to be ready. The room was clean and spacious and we surprisingly didn't have any issues with noise from the wedding parties or the visiting rugby team even though we were located on the same floor. We also had access to the HHonors Executive Floor Lounge so it was nice to have a few bedtime snacks. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options including fruit, pastries, meats and eggs and vegetables. The hotel is located in the heart of Glasgow and it was only a 5-10 minute walk to several bars and restaurants, and a 20 minute walk from the ScotRail station. Overall we would be happy to stay here again!

I don't get how this hotel isn't 5-star happiness for everyone because it was nothing but awesome for us. First it helps if you're a Gold Club Hilton Honors member so this review is based on that but they upgraded me to the Executive level with access to the Lounge which was awesome for morning continental breakfast and evening food (which we didn't partake in) and all hour access to waters, sodas, snacks. Plus the room was very comfortable and clean, alot of shower pressure too which was nice. They held our bags for a few hours too since we checked in early and room wasn't ready yet, but that was no issue and they had someone bring up our bags when it was time to checkin. Hotel is conveniently close to Sachiehall (main shopping street) and they were able to grab us a cab as soon as we needed it. No complaints at all about this. Thank you very much.
Be the first to ReplyWe stayed here on the first 4 nights of our recent vacation
We stayed here on the first 4 nights of our recent vacation on the last week of August 2018. The housekeeping was good, but was spotty sometimes (no shampoo for e.g.) but nothing we couldn't deal with. The concierge was responsive. The rooms were clean, no cobwebs, no unsightly stains. The room was also comfortable, not overheated. The pool was fine, although the hot tub was nowhere near as hot as we like. But there was good Wi-Fi and a decent business centre. We really liked the location as well. The biggest complaint we have is the short staffing. We did notice some staff members were a bit harried. But all in all, this is a hotel that we would not hesitate to stay at again.
Be the first to ReplyAs soon as you walk in, you know you'll be taken care of.
We arrived early morning and while no rooms were available, they patiently waited for us to sort things in our luggage before storing them. Upon our return after exploring Glasgow, our luggage was waiting at the reception desk. In the room, we were pleasantly surprised with a bottle of champagne and desserts for our special occasion we were celebrating! The room was a good size and bed comfy as you'd expect from Hilton. As for location, we chose it primarily due to its vicinity of the subway lines as we knew we'd be hopping around.
Be the first to ReplyDoubleTree by Hilton is normally a reputable destination.
However, our experience here in Glasgow was such. First: It's located in a section of the City that didn't offer much outside of the walls for the Hotel. A little too urban and lacking a touristy taste.Second: The dining experience for our group of about 45 was poorly organized and staff appeared stressed and rude. We witnessed a waiter enter the kitchen and hurl his tray against the wall. Later, he reappeared, working more tables; his actions should have called for his dismissal.Thirdly: The rooms were well appointed and updated. No view to speak of and the hallways were a tad noisy. Each floor was secured by keycard access, which offered an added sense of safety, but also a wonder of why in the first place.

Worst hotel I've stayed at in Europe!!! It's not the hotel, it's the service, it's horrific!!If you call the front desk the phone just rings & rings & rings, no one answers.Forget trying to order room service, they are out of everything and can't offer you anything they claim to have on the menu.If you're a Hilton Honors member and you're used to getting your bottled water, you can forget that.Thoroughly disappointed in this Hilton property, will be complaining to Hilton directly too
Be the first to ReplyClose to City Center lots of food options nearby.
The rooms are nice, breakfast very yummy. Nice cozy fireplace in the lobby. Front desk very nice and professional. Parking on site. Free wifi good enough quality for video calls. I don't get the half shower door, the floor gets wet every morning. Is it a Scottish thing? The last hotel had a half shower door too. The bar would be my only complaint. Also the reason for 3 stars. Hotel 5 stars. Service is HORRIBLE. Me and a colleague were the only 2 in the place, we needed to look at the menu, got the first drink after we called them back over. Then they disappeared for a long time, when we wanted to leave we had to hunt them down just to pay the bill. Go to another bar if you need attentive service. I would recommend the howlin wolf, awesome service and food! Check in Jan 8, 2017 to Jan 13, 2017..
