Earl's Premier Kansas City Reviews from The Last Year
We went to Earl's on Friday night and were able to get
We went to Earl's on Friday night and were able to get seats on the patio--we were a party of 6. It is enclosed for the season and heated so we were quite comfortable. (Reservations recommended, especially for dinner.) My husband had Guinness on tap, others had drinks including an Old Fashioned, a margarita, wine, iced tea, and soft drinks. Drinks came promptly and we started with appetizers. We ordered a variety of East coast and West coast oysters, (raw) salmon crudo, and crab legs out of the shell. They were all excellent, but my favorite was the crab with drawn butter. For entrees, I ordered the crab cakes. My husband got fish & chips (cod), our daughter got a cheeseburger and fries, our friends got the catch of the day, winter mussels, and the lobster roll. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. My crab cakes were absolutely delicious! I tried my husband's fried cod and I am definitely getting that next time. I have no pictures of the desserts because we started eating them as soon as they came. We got one of each option: vanilla ice cream with sea salt and olive oil, chocolate mousse, and a mini key lime pie with graham cracker base (not a crust). Olive oil and salt on ice cream sounded strange to me, but I tried it am I'm so glad I did. It was delicious. It was served with a section of waffle cone type cookie/garnish, and it tasted good broken off and dipped in the ice cream. My daughter is a chocolate fan and she loved the mousse. My favorite was the key lime. The key lime filling was the best kind of tart, topped with whipped cream and layered on a graham cracker base. All in all, it was a fun, tasty evening. I am already thinking about what I will eat there next time!

The Biscuit appetizer is the dish to get!!! Plate licking delicious. Lobster Roll was really good and fries were some of the best! Wish it was warm but still delicious. Service was amazing!

Been hearing rave reviews about this place and stopped in for happy hour to check it out. Found out there is no happy hour. Why not? There should be. Still loved the vibe. Amazing frozen gin tonic! Highly recommend. Tried the clam chowder and gumbo and waiter was nice enough to split it for my friend and I to both try. Gumbo was amazing - 5 stars. Clam chowder was good but not great or the best I've had. A little too thin for my taste. Menu looks limited but enticing. I will return to try for dinner. Love the atmosphere and sitting at the bar watching them shuck oysters.

Earl's is a favorite lunch or dinner spot! The seafood is always fresh which is difficult to find in the Midwest. The first time we came I was shocked and felt like I eating food from the coast. The servers are all super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It's small and intimate setting that is great for date night or catching up with a close friend.

I've previously enjoyed this place: quaint, pricey yes but good food and drinks and service has been ok. Tonight, was the opposite experience. We had a reservation and they were very pushy about us leaving. We were told halfway through we needed to leave in an hour, and then was given a countdown there on our. Then after they convinced us to order our last drink (bc we had 30 min to go and said we could pay to wrap up in time) they had someone else besides our server (hostess? 'manager? ) come and let us know that the next party had arrived early and we needed to go. We still had 10 min before we technically needed to leave. We had already paid and was trying to choke down our drinks. I get that they make reservations, the place is small and they try to stick to it so others can dine but we didn't appreciate the overly pushiness from our server and others. If you're looking to spend a lot and feel hurried and uncomfortable, this is your spot!
This place has my favorite ambiance in the area.
The Caesar salad with shaved Brussels sprouts was really crispy and tasty. The mussels were large and tasty but I'd have to say if you want mussels in the neighborhood I'd give the nod to Aixois. I could not taste the grapefruit in the Hemingway daiquiri. Service was outstanding.
I love this place.
I've been about six times and they're always busy. The food has been good, the service attentive, and the vibe is jazzed. I'm not familiar with oysters and the bartender said "I'll take care of it" and I enjoyed all of them. That's what service means to me, where they're the ambassador for the kitchen and owner and provide a true service worthy of a tip. The frozen G&T is also truly a good taste and flavor - not all alcohol is - but it's both refreshing and gives a buzz. I suggest you wait before ordering a second and see how this one affects you because it's a little deceptive. But overall, my favorite drink on their menu. The owner has introduced himself to my table on more than one occasion and that was a great touch. After two frozen G&T I'm always tempted to hug him - which I won't do - but it's great to have a really good experience when dining out.
Nice ambiance, good food & good drinks, but seemed a little
Nice ambiance, good food & good drinks, but seemed a little pricey. Shrimp & grits was very tasty!!

We finally got in to try Earl's Premier as we have heard a lot of great things and wanted to see if the restaurant measured up to all the hype. Let me tell you, it most definitely does! I now know why it's so difficult to get a reservation. The space is small, quaint, and cozy with limited seating and a small bar, making it a perfect date location. Our service was top notch and then there is the food! They specialize in seafood and it is amazing! I tried one of the oysters after asking our server for a recommendation. They were incredible! We also really loved the creamy goat cheese dip, served with candied bacon (need I say more?) and grilled bread. The show stopper, however was the Butter Poached Lobster, an incredibly adult, rich, mac and cheese entree with shell pasta and herbed breadcrumbs. It's going to take a long time to find anything that makes me more happy. Wow! It was delicious. If you haven't been, you've got to go!
First time to this darling neighborhood joint.
Was on the hunt for fabulous birthday orders. DELICIOUS. Service was the best I've had in months. Loved watching the shuckers behind the bar. My brother and I enjoyed this place so much, I stopped in the following weekend to get him a gift card for HIS birthday. Can't wait to go back!

I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

You should probably cancel prior to the cancellation date per the cancellation policy. I would imagine you would only get reimbursed for a sold listing if you happen to be charged?

My first sale took about a week. But as the other commenter said stay ontop of your cancellation windows. There’s no reimbursement for those so make sure you cancel in time then just try again.
