Great Barista
Popped in desperate for coffee. Perfect! I was also treated to a complimentary home made muffin which was delicious.

Have been going to the eating house since it opened. Last couple of times the food has been disappointing. Last visit, all our food was cold and much smaller portions. We understand prices go up but the standard has dropped considerably. What a shame as it was always the place to get a great meal.

Early dinner in the climate controlled annex on a hot day between Christmas and new year. Shared Platter with the Beetroot and Feta salad and the Fat Chips with Aoli and their own draught beer... After finding our preferred options were closed, we went to Eating House because it was on the way home. Our previous visits to this place we had Pizza or Pasta and while both were okay, they weren't particularly good value. On this occasion we were after a light early dinner and selected from the tapas menu. The Platter we selected had lamb fillets, chicken tender fillets and a nice piece of pork belly, each accompanied by a tasty sauce and a little garnish of fresh lettuce leaves. Presentation on a paddle was not bad but under-represented the quality of the dish. This was a really good selection and we wouldn't hesitate returning just for the Platter. The Beetroot and Feta salad was very tasty, great dressing and flavour balance, the chef was really on their game. This also was a good selection and a likely selection on our next visit. The Fat chips with aoli were okay but not particularly Fat. They were seasoned well but we have had better elsewhere and would probably order a healthier option next time around. Their tap beer was quite good. We had the "Collingwood draught" and would order the same again. All up for two people including the two beers was just under $70, which is about the same as we would expect to pay in a pub bistro. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, but not all of them. We were not in a hurry but at times it was difficult to attract their attention from the annex. All said and done, we had a better experience than previous visits and will return.
Be the first to Replyunfortunately more often miss than hit
Bar staff saved this from being a one star review . Yes we came on a busy Friday night. Yes we asked for a table at the bar (knowing they were busy and tables were a premium) . No we did not expect below par service. From arrival, where we were initially asked about our reservation, to then having the host walk away mid sentence, to the wait staff not knowing what a ‘Chivas and soda’ was. Tonight’s experience was across the board BAD. At least the initial server made an effort to understand our drinks order. The second server was simply absent - we asked for a food order - which never came. Upon checking with server #1 our food had never been ordered through their systems. Honestly this place is hit and miss. When they are on, the service is good and the food decent (basic pub grub). When they are off, like tonight, they are really off. Understand COVID continues to hit hospitality, but the front of house was adequately staffed for a busy service. With few options in the area The Eating House is lucky. If they had more competition they would quickly find their tables empty, based on the hit and Miss service and average food. Lift your game.

Easy to park in front of the Eating House restaurant. We made a booking for a group of 11 and we were allocated in a nice corner away from the main restaurant area. Plenty to choose from the dinner menu and a nice drink menu too. The wait staff are friendly and professional.
The food were served all at the same time for our whole group of 11. Nice that we can enjoy our delicious food all at the same time.
Everyone were happy to dine here.
Large appetite required!
Went for a last minute lunch on a Sunday and managed to get an indoor table at bar type seating. This place is large and moody with several different areas, separated by either glass walls or wooden partition. The cake fridge tempts as soon as you walk in the door , whilst waiting to be seated. Service was reasonable today. A noticeable wait but not to the point of being unacceptable. Food was large, well seasoned and tasty. My partner and his son ordered the same meal and the chicken was missing from my partner’s tandoori mixed grill. The staff were very quick to bring out some replacement chicken however. My avocado & poached on Turkish were ok- nothing special. Salt and pepper calamari, fish and prawns were well cooked to tender deliciousness. Desserts are lush , sticky puddings and large slabs of cakes served with ice cream flavours of your choice or cream.
Be the first to ReplyEating House never disappoint!
We were 6 People and we visited the Eating House on the 15th November for my birthday. The food was great and definitely not skimpy on the portion size.
Everybody enjoyed themselves to the fullest!.
Very impressed!
My second visit to Eating House last night and again very impressed with the service, variety on the menu and quality, huge meals. Had the Seafood Mezze this time which was delicious, my friends really enjoyed their burgers and antipasto. Cocktails were great too. Not exactly close to home for me but very much worth the drive. I'll be recommending this venue to anyone wanting to enjoy a huge variety of great food and beverages in a vibrant atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyExpected better. Go for the atmosphere, not the overpriced food.
Wait staff attentive & polite, but we waited a while for their attention at times.
Over priced by 20% on some dishes. The small quesadilla was a ridiculous $19.90, to make would have been less than $5. Porterhouse steak had little flavour, you'd expect some for the price, and for some reason the simple desert of ice-cream for our youngest took the longest to come out?
Finally, don't pay $13 for a smoothie when its only in a glass mug!
Super loud
We came here for dinner, the food came out as massive servings.
Our group tried the lamb, pork and Salmon, all meals were nice.
We also had dessert, they tasted okay, but they are hard to eat, we didn’t like there came in jars.
This is a very busy restaurant and was super loud.
After waiting an extra 40 minutes past pickup time..
Ordered some take away meals, was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Got there in about 20 minutes and asked if it was ready, they said just a couple more minutes, nearly done, we will call out our name when its ready.. 25 minutes goes by and I ask again and get the same reponse. 15 minutes after that I ask them to cancel my order and refund my money, the food is magically ready now !
Recommend :
Going somewhere else unless you are in absolutely no rush, because the staff are not in any hurry.
Great menu, fair prices.
We attended here regularly prior to lockdown and enjoyed the varied menu and reasonable prices. Always good service as well. Still buying for pickup, still happy.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Take Away Breakfast
Ordered home delivered Breakfast during lock down - excellent food - great quality promptly delivered - well done - more than happy to order again
Be the first to ReplyGreat brunch
We came here for brunch on the last day before a six week lockdown. The Covid measures were strictly adhered to, service was friendly. We chose the Salmon eggs which came with beetroot relish. A generous amount of salmon, well cooked eggs, fried capers and quality bread made sure we really enjoyed the meal. Coffee was also very good.
We were asked at least three times if we were happy with our meal.
Good luck as you move back to takeaway.
