A wonderful experience
An amazing dinning experience. Phillip Foss, his wife, and the rest of his crew do an amazing job in delighting guests with their food, service, and ambience. We visited El Ideas over a decade ago and went back again recently and it was as fun and "fresh" as it was the first time. Highly recommended.

Me and my partner dined here for my birthday. What a lovely experience!! The staff were great and the food was amazing!
Great job!! I would definitely return.
glad we tried - fun artsy clever prep
Ok, not a great location, because nothing is over there (yet), and it's fine to park, walk and street lighting is fine. It is BYOB which was ok by me to bring a bottle of what I had for an occasion. Inside is where the action is. Fun vibe, seats about 20, open kitchen, good music and lighting. Can go watch Chef prep. Casual dress but likely feel most comfortable with no t-shirts, no tennis shoes, no shorts, but you don't need a suit and tie either. White table cloth, nice attentive staff. Handful of courses, so it can be something your not a fan of - but it is fresh and quality ingredients and it may have a unique flair/twist to it. Artsy, well plated and some dishes very clever. 2 seatings per night. So to be clear, no choices here and everyone gets served same dish at the same time. Menu does change but not sure how often. We had fun and enjoyed our time.

Wow! We had an amazing time at El. The food was interesting yet approachable. There were elements of familiarity yet presented in a new and exciting way. The dining room was comfortable. It felt like you were at someone’s house being served fine dining. I loved the experience and recommend others to try it.
Plus BYO wine is a huge bonus!
Excellent Experience
I was at El Ideas for a private event. The intimate environment and unique flavors made for a memorable night. We had a 12 course meal and each dish was better than the last. You can see and taste the attention to detail, flavor and texture. The french fries and ice cream blew me away as a unique concept that tastes great. I also like that this restaurant is BYOB. Bring your favorite wine and enjoy a culinary experience.

My husband and I went to El Ideas for my birthday dinner. The front of the house person and the chefs were all very friendly. We brought some champagne and wine, and each table has a champagne/wine bucket stand right next to it, so we could refill our glasses as we wished. We had a table to the side of the kitchen area, which was nice, as it was pretty private, but we could see the plating of each dish from our table, or walk over into the kitchen area to observe. The food was all plated artistically and there were interesting pairings. I really liked the first course (the toad in the hole), and enjoyed the squab, lamb, and pork courses, as well as the apple dessert course. I didn't love all of them (gave the red snapper crudo to my husband to finish after I tasted it - not a big fan of crudo), but it's a fun dining experience, something different.

We grabbed a meal here in November. It was an interesting experience. A multi course meal with interesting combinations. Some facets are very unique (your first course comes with out utensils). The decor is rustic and simple. It is byob with no corkage fee. Some dishes were great (potatoe leek milkshake) others I found a bit basic. The reason for the 3 stars is that you are paying a lot for the meal and experience; we felt rushed. As soon as we finished one course It was whisked off our table and a new dish appeared without the chance to really relish the previous dish. I would’ve liked to be treated more like a welcome guest rather than someone they wanted out quickly after the courses were done.

Getting to EL Ideas is part of the adventure. To say it's off the beaten path is putting it mildly. Trust your GPS (or your cabbie) you will get there and it's really where it is.
We got a very warm welcome. Several other guests were either regulars or well known to the staff, but our treatment was just the same. They provided a corkscrew for the wine we brought (which due to our travel arrangements, was a bottle purchased at the closest grocery - the best they had but not necessarily the best bottle).
Everyone eats the same meal (except for any pre set allergies) at the same time, so you don't see your next course before it arrives. It's a small place, so after each course is delivered there's a brief description provided to everyone at once.
The food is amazing. One delightful course after another. Interesting combinations, everything well prepared. You're invited to come over to the kitchen to observe preparation, which is fun.
We were the newbies in the group. We won't be for long. Can't wait to return.
Phenomenal food, exceptional service, fun vibe
El Ideas is where fine dining meets a fun dinner party. Where you experience unexpected presentation and amazing flavors. Where you have one of the most delicious, creative, and memorable meals. Added bonus: BYOB.
Chef Foss creates dishes that tell a story. The flavors are bold yet simple and refined. You don't get a menu until the end of the meal so each dish is a surprise. They change the menu often and are accommodating to dietary restrictions/allergies.
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and lively. It's an interactive, open kitchen design so you can watch the chefs in action. You can see the kitchen from almost any table in the restaurant but they openly invite you into the kitchen to get a closer look.
Bill Talbott, front of house, is as good as it gets when it comes to customer service. He genuinely cares about your experience and is passionate about taking care of every guest. Once you step into the restaurant every detail is taken care of for you. The vibe is fun and casual but you're still treated like VIP.
If you are looking for a fun, unique meal that will satisfy your tastebuds, look no further than El Ideas. Truly a phenomenal experience on every level.
Incredible Experience
Wow. Amazing food, served with a sense of humor, over the top creativity, in an environment that is comfortable and confident, with tastes that will excite, surprise and make you very happy. We had so much fun. This is a total experience that invites you to meet new people, opens your eyes to food as a work of art, convincing you to try things you might never have thought you would try. I am so thankful for Chef’s daughters, who he credits with inspiring him to create the dish that is always on the menu. (I don’t want to spoil it for you so I’m not going to say any more about it) I would have sworn I would never have eaten shortbreads, but they won my trust so I tried them and was richly rewarded. Again- incredible.

The vibrancy of the restaurant and energetic staff are just the icing on the cake that make this one of the best restaurants I’ve ever dined at. The food was seriously amazing with combinations of flavors that made my taste buds jump around in my mouth. My table felt privileged to enjoy this experience which felt like a night at a great chefs home. Thank you, chef!
